My name is Sheena May, and everything has changed. All my secrets are out, and now I’m a hostage again. Trapped in a concrete box surrounded by the very magical objects my life depends upon, I have to find a way to outsmart the witches who betrayed us and get back to the men I love.
Caught up in power plays, twisted games, and a hatred that spans centuries, I cling to an unlikely the enigmatic fae who visits my dreams.
A familiar face from my past confronts me when I least expect it, and I’m forced to navigate a foreign realm and the impulses of my own heart. No one prepared me for this. Lines blur. Loyalty is tested. And one question is impossible to answer.
What if some dreams shouldn't come true?

ALANA KAY is a romance author with a soft spot for imperfect heroes, tough heroines, and steamy love stories. She made her debut into paranormal romance in 2024 with her novel The Last Wish (Lost Legacy Book One) and completed the trilogy in February 2025.
Alana Kay fell for romance novels in the early aughts after sneaking bodice rippers from her mom’s dog-eared collection of paperbacks. A big believer in happy endings, she likes her love scenes on page, her adventures nonstop, and her magic off the rails. When she’s not typing feverishly, she’s either snuggling with her dog, cats, or husband in sunny Los Angeles or impulsively signing up for a sporting event she’s not nearly athletic enough to commit to.
Author of the completed Lost Legacy series, including The Last Wish, The Last Dream, and The Last Djinn. Her in-progress Radiant Legacy series releases its third book, Fear No Evil, in 2026.

An excellent, satisfying follow up to book 1! Even more fantastic than the first. Love where this series is going and can’t wait to see how it wraps up in book 3!
Immersion 4/5 Read this in one sitting, but at times I found myself skimming pages, looking for something interesting to happen. Writing: 4/5 Characters 3/5 Sheena - Sheena spent this entire book in reactive mode. Reacting to her abduction and Leona’s demands. Reacting to the threat being recaptured, once she was free. Reacting to Quaid and Idris’s hot and cold behavior. I can think of two times when she showed a more assertive side, but both were in reaction to more rejection from Quaid. I still liked her in this installment, but hope to see her become a more proactive character in book three. Callum - I can’t put my finger on why he’s my favorite of the guys, but he is. Probably because he’s more strategic than brute force, and that’s something I can respect. Gideon - What makes Gideon interesting to me, rather than just another Golden Retriever clone, is the way he interacts with Callum. There’s no artifice or calculation. He didn’t have a whole bi-awakening story where he had to come to terms with his sexuality. He just jumped right in to changing the dynamic of their friendship with zero existential angst, and there’s something so wholesome about that. Idris - I like him a LOT more after this book. Learning about his past love humanized him, making his actions and non-actions much more understandable. I enjoyed seeing him interact with his sister, and his reunion with Sheena at the end was wonderful. Quaid - I live for a good redemption arc, but I haven’t seen one yet. The “Good soldier” who follows orders without question. I can’t forget how he exterminated a houseful of teenage vampires in the previous book without having a morality crises. Sure he showed up at the end, claiming to have seen the light. But the fact that it was in response to finding his parents were alive and vampires kind of cheapens the reveal. He only was willing to change when he suddenly had stakes in the game. Do not like him, but I welcome for the author to prove me wrong.
Leona Absolute cartoon of a villain. For a moment there, I thought she was going to have a bit of depth, but nope. All she cared about was her own power and aggrandizement, coven be damned. I suspect Lysander is the same character, but male.
Plot 3/5 Summary: After escaping the clutches of an evil witch, Sheena discovers that the talisman she bonded with to save her life can also compel her to return to Leona. Since the compulsion magic doesn’t cross realms, Gideon, Callum, and Idris - Fae king in exile - decide to travel to the Fae realm to keep her safe. Quaid is brought along as a captive.
Other than Idris getting closure for his own wounds and a fun magic battle at the end, that’s about all that happens.
I’m not sure how many books remain in this series, but the Hunters still need to be dealt with. I hope the author handles this intelligently rather than a simplistic, magical solution. Additionally, Lysander definitely needs to die and his captives freed.
I found this series by accident and am so glad I did! I love the storyline - it’s fairly unique and there are a lot of paths the author could take next. But it’s the characters - even the supporting ones - that have wiggled their way into my heart! (What’s happening in Las Vegas with the bestie?! I need to know more). I like strong female characters and while she’s not a total kick ass FMC like I normally gravitate to, fighting on the front lines - emotionally and mentally she is incredibly strong and holds everyone together. I’m downloading the next one now and can’t wait for what Alana Kay puts out in the future.
That ending left me speechless!! Everything about this story draws you right in! I literally read this book in a matter of hours and can't wait to dive into book 3.
I absolutely loved and adored this book. This second book was fantastic the storyline was fantastic! So many twist and turns and incredible character development this series is definitely on the list of my top magical romance series
It was great to see the portal to another world and fix things that had gone so wrong there and having the fmc take back her strength was awesome to see.
This series is absolutely fantastic and exciting. Don’t expect sleep. It’s definitely a keep you up all night series. Can't wait to find out what happens next
I thought I loved the first book until I read this one. It is everything! The setting is fire---an adventure in fae world--the spice is top tier, and it's laugh out loud funny. The cave scene had me screaming. I love that the big, bad Quaid is petrified of bugs.
But the best part is that this one develops Idris' love story with Sheena, and Idris is such an old world tortured gentleman soul. He's my absolute favorite.
Don't start reading unless you have six hours straight and don't need to sleep. You won't put it down.
I didn’t think I could love this book more than the first, but I do! The setting is more magical than the first which was really fun, I loved being transported. Gideon and Callum are still my boys but I found myself really falling for Idris too. I love reading tender moments for the mysteriously aloof character; his story is beautifully written. The spice is incredible as always, Alana Kay’s talent here is 💯 A must-read for fans of The Last Wish. I’m eagerly awaiting the third book!!
Sheena is forced into what the “wish” of greedy people will do when she has to face what she is, from one realm into another she will have to face her fate .. will her heart ever recover. Leaves on a small cliffhanger…
I absolutely adored this book. Adventure, high stakes, and spicy times. I love Quaid's childhood friends-to-enemies-to-lovers arc. It's a slow moving one, and I like that it didn't just instantly change. The humor is superb, just like in the first book - I love the funny little moments between the characters. Looking forward to next one!
I’m glad I didn’t find these books until now so I don’t have to wait for the next after these cliffhangers! I’m really enjoying the characters and world(s) building. Can’t wait to see what happens next!
For the majority of this book, I was pretty confident I wouldn't be rating this higher than a 3.5 stars, but then we got to the final 25% and everything picked up again.
Plot-wise, the story was less compelling than book 1 and things dragged quite a bit in the middle. It probably would have made more sense to have a stronger subplot to anchor their visit to the faerie realm, rather than just the threat from Leona. Ultimately, Kay's strong writing and compelling characters saved it from becoming boring.
For the most part this was an enjoyable read. Callum and Gideon were the stars of the show, I could read about them for hours. Idris was an intriguing new addition. It was obvious from his actions how much he did care so I was rooting for them to figure things out from the start.
Sheena stressed me out a lot in this book. I really didn't get her stubbornness for Quaid. I thought for sure she'd feel betrayed once she realised he only befriended her as a teen to kill her, but she had total blinders on where he was concerned.
It felt a bit contrary to her character to be this trusting of a known enemy. She never even considers that he might be dangerous, despite the very real threat that hunters present in the book (and how awkward for Joshua after his close friend was killed by hunters to have her protect one who might have been involved in similar acts..!). The guys' easy acceptance of her feelings for him also threw me off.
Quaid, I completely despise, and while I'm looking forward to seeing how the author plans to redeem him, I'm not sure I'll get over him casually murdering a bunch of kids.
The twist at the end was great though, so I'm excited to see what comes of it.

Another installation of perfunctory epilogue style writing, we’re taken on various fantastical adventures through captivity and anticlimactic battles, never to be mentioned again, that’ll have you saying, "Oh. Alrighty then.” Sheena’s characterization changes so abruptly that I thought it was an intentional ‘possession’ plot line. It wasn’t. I wish it was though. Not a fan of the petulant self pity party whinefest from the former strong survivor. It felt like a lot happened but it was all inconsequential. Not awful, but not particularly impactful. I did appreciate the romantic declarations and developments. I’m not a fan of MM, as it sometimes feels like cheating, but I found myself rooting for them more than the shifting Sheena.
This was way to good. Could not put it down. I stayed up all night into the early morning to finish this in one day.
The Twist, the action, the steam and so much emotion, I can hardly breathe. I absolutely loved this book.
I thought the first book in the series was great...oh I was wrong book 2 took the cake!! I devoured this book! If I could read it again for the first time I would.
Can not wait until book 3 comes out!! Well done author, well done!!
This book was a great follow up to the first. I wish there had been more of a reason for them to travel to fae realm, but I really enjoyed the closure and backstory it gave to Idris. I wish the witches magic had been explained a bit more because it seemed to have no limitations throughout the book and I kept looking for Leona’s weaknesses. Overall it came down to her underestimating her enemy but resulted in a bad ass Sheena moment! Excited to see the hunter and Lysander hopefully dealt with in the next book.
I love the writing, plot, characters, and obvious care the author poured into this series. I’m bummed that I have to wait about 22 hours for the final book to be released. However, I gave major praise for the quality of editing in the first book and then someone on the team seriously failed on the difference between mote and moat. The body of water surrounding a castle is a moat. A mote of dust might float in sunlight. Please fix this!
The Last Dream, book two of the Lost Legacy series, is an ebook I borrowed through Kindle Unlimited (KU). The writer has hit her stride with this second book. I enjoyed the pacing and the momentum of the reveals and twists. I'm anxiously awaiting the final story to see how this ends. Wonderful storytelling.
This was just an ok read for me. The story was really predictable. The battle scene was good. Otherwise there wasn’t much that was noteworthy unfortunately. I probably won’t read the 3rd book.
Right from the first book you drew us in and wouldn't let go, I have fallen in love with everyone in this book the books give you enough details but not overload and I like that because it lets my imagination complete the rest. Definitely worth the read!!!
Ok this book was really good! I felt legitamte heartache from the situatioj with quaid, the groveling from idris was top tier and the romance with gideon and callum was so delicious. Great book!
it's a decent read! i just found myself skimming pages but there are definitely some good moments i enjoyed here too, even more so than the previous book.
I'm a huge fantasy reader but my wife makes me read these with her and I have to say, this was actually extremely well written. The world building is very well done and the dynamics between the characters are believable. It's also extremely funny. The spice is.....spicy. If any ladies are disappointed in that department, I'm slightly terrified to know what they're looking for.
