A dark ending. I think there must be a word for the kind of pleasure derived from the untimely demise of someone who holds power over others, is a jerk, and gets "what they deserve". Very creative demise in this one. It makes the other book in the series more understandable now that there's a theme.
This was a wonderful short story about an old man who was a very dedicated gardner. He loved flowers and carefully tended his garden. A horrible man came in and destroyed the peace of his garden, getting drunk and ruining the flowers. So the immortal spirits came down and took revenge on them. It was a great story and done with lovely traditional wood cut style illustrations.
