Book 1 in the NEW ADULT rockstar series, LOST IN OBLIVION

Love definitely wasn't on the setlist.

Opening for their idols on their first tour, Oblivion is living the dream. Mostly. Frustrated at being shoved out of his mediator role by their new manager, Deacon McCoy loses himself in brutal workouts. He only comes up for air long enough to refuel—and to tease the deliciously cute chef who makes him crave a lot more than what she's offering on her serving plate.

As the child of roadie parents, Harper Pruitt has heard every pickup line twice. To her, musicians are one step above the scraps on her cutting board. All she wants is to get enough experience to run her own catering company, but Deacon and his bottomless stomach are too tempting to resist. He's far from the typical rock star and before long, she finds herself experimenting with him, inside and out of the kitchen.

Apron - and panties - optional.

When Harper sees that Deacon’s dream band with his best friends may be turning into a nightmare, she can't walk away. Deacon's so much more than just a peacemaker and the man behind the bass. But she has her own dreams to chase...even if she's starting to think what she's building with him might be the biggest one of all.

You met Deacon McCoy in SEDUCED, now you can watch just how far a big man can fall.

I'm glad I gave this book a second chance. This time around I was in the mood for a slower paced story.

Nothing wrong with this book other than I couldn't for the life of me get into the story. Happens. The writing is good so maybe I'll try again later.

3.75 rock me sweet stars
She was his ultimate song that would never have an end.

Harper was raised living the roadie life, so it isn't any surprise she finds herself working the kitchen for Oblivion as they tour. She has a plan and can't risk her dream for anyone especially a musician...been there, done that, has the panties on the wall to prove it. But then in walks Deacon McCoy, with his smile...
“I’m not sure what you’ve got against musicians, Harper, but I’m not going to fit in any of these little neat boxes you’ve got in your head.”

Deacon carries the weight of the band on his soldiers, his band mates relies on him for everything and the gig they landed opening for Oblivion is HUGE. Being on the road is tough but at least he can burn off some of his stress with his brutal workouts and rely on the cute little chef to keep him fed and happy. He isn't interested in anything quick or casual, but Harper is more jaded than anyone he has ever met; unlucky for her he is twice as stubborn and determined to make her see that he is different...
“If you deny something is happening between us, I’m going to kiss you stupid again, Harper Pruitt.”

What could it possibly hurt, it's all in good fun and at the end of the tour, they can turn and walk away. After all they both have their own goals and futures ahead of them...

Rocked is a sensually sweet rocker romance, Deacon is the GOOD guy, the NICE guy, he doesn't care if he has to play the bad guy to wrangle them all if it is to the benefit of the band. Harper is young and jaded, trust doesn't come easy for her and one by one Deacon knocks each of her pre-built stereotypes down, opening her up to new experiences and new friends.

The book goes over the struggle of life on the road and being so new in the industry. The other band members all play a role in this, as we get to know each and everyone of them. This is a dual POV stand alone read that is easy-light and steamy, no major plot twist, no big angsty roller coasters, just Harper and Deacon's stubborn battle. It's a fairly long read, one I have to admit I as hesitant about reading, but once I settled in for the read, I fell right along into the story. Recommended reads for my band lover friends.

4 Sexy Manimal Stars

From the moment he touched her, he'd known it was more.

So truth be told, there has yet to be a Rockstar Romance that my pervy little self has been able to pass on. After falling in love with Cari Quinn's writing in Shadowboxer, when I saw her and Taryn Elliot have a sexy rock star romance series? Well let's just say I was a little excited to get my hands on Rocked.

In a sea of formulaic rock star romances, Rocked managed to truly stand out for me. Why? Because it didn't start off with the biggest of all manwhores and assholes falling for the girl. Nope. It had a deliciously sweet, tall, muscled and tatted Deacon.

That's not to say that this series doesn't have it's manwhores. Oh no. It certainly has that. And I for one cannot wait to see both Simon and Nick be brought to their knees. But this book was about my sweet Deacon, so let's get back to him.

(First I'd strongly recommend reading Seduced in order to get a much deeper understanding of all the band members of Oblivion. While Rocked could be read as a standalone, reading the prequel first will help you understand all the guys...and girl...much better)

Oblivion has finally hit the big times. They're given the chance to open for their idols on their very first tour. Touring and performing in front of huge crowds is a dream come true...but it's not without problems. The relationship between all the band members is definitely not smooth sailing, especially when a contract is on the horizon. Good thing they have the sensible, calm, and mediator bass player, Deacon.

Deacon is tired of the one night stand and the faceless groupies that all seem to lost in a haze of drunken memories. He wants more. So when he sees the sexy blonde chef on the catering service for the tour, he pursues her relentlessly...

Harper Pruitt has been there, done that, and burned the groupie t-shirt. Being the daughter of roadies, she's more than accustomed to dealing with cocky rock stars. She has no intention of getting involved with one, that's for damn sure. Especially when she's so determined to get set up her career as a chef. Too bad Deacon is nothing like what she expected and not at all what she's used to.
It wasn't like she was powerless against him. It was so much more than that. He was warmth and promise and generosity distilled into an impossible man.

She may be smart mouthed and give as good as she takes. But the intensity of Deacon and his sinfully sexy body and tattoos soon prove too much to resist. Add into the mix his perfectly sweet words, and it's done.
We're going to burn out," she said against his mouth an couldn't stop herself from tasting him again. "Nothing good will come of this."
"Harper, nothing but good is going to come from this."

I loved the way that the relationship between Harper and Deacon was built. The book is long and it gives you a chance to truly get invested in them. Their struggles, their lust, and of course...the music

While I did feel that the book could have been a little shorter, I can't say that I ever found myself bored with the characters or the story. The band's struggle definitely added an extra element to keep me turning the pages to see if they crash and burn or shine. But what truly kept me glued to the pages was the super steamy sex scenes.

What? I never said I wasn't shallow. Don't look at me like that. Just wait until you meet Deacon for yourself, you'll see exactly what I'm talking about.

While Harper struggles with the inevitable relationship that they have going, Deacon was all in from the very beginning. There was no playing around from him. He knew what he wanted and he went for it.
Making her his, holding on to her as if she was going to fade out like the last strains of a song wasn't a smart move. Instead he had to trust that if she was truly that important, then things would fall together.

Cari and Taryn managed to give their love story the perfect combination of sexy and dirty with sweet and passionate.
But all he could focus on was how she felt around him. Like heaven and hell were pulling at him. Take more, give more, love more. Life infused around him and through him as her sweet body gave and softened for him.

I am hooked on this series, line and sinker. I'm already salivating for every single book, and that rarely happens. Usually I have one or 2 characters that I'm curious about, and the rest I could take it or leave it. I can't tell you who I want a book for more, Simon, Nick or Gray. I want them all. BAD.

If you're looking for your next rock star series, look no further than the boys of Oblivion.
In her arms is where he was meant to be. And the chaos in his mind ebbed and flowed with lust and the heady first blush of emotion. She filled him up, made him ache, and when her surrender came this time, it was soft and sweet.

We know from the previous book, Seduced how the band come about choosing their name….
“They were going to have to come up with a name for the soap opera this shit was becoming. As the Oblivion Turns? Nope—pretentious. Days of Oblivion? No…wait. Lost in Oblivion. That had a certain ring to it.”
Before I start telling you about this series…let’s just say that I think the band’s name is totally AWESOME!!!!So COOL!!!!

The first book was a prequel to the series and basically a set up to the band’s story…..how they got together and how they worked getting their music out there.

Rocked, the 1st novel in the Lost in Oblivion Series by Cari Quinn & Taryn Elliott Rocked, begins just after the ending of the previous book, Seduced, where the band, Oblivion was finally being noticed and heard. The story focuses on bassist Deacon McCoy, the level-headed, quiet, nice and reliable member of the band. Patient, talented and the one who keeps the band members on track to achievement their goals.

Getting booked for a 6 month tour as the opening act for a well-know band, it’s Oblivion’s chance to succeeding in being noticed and heard.
 photo f116554_1323236018_zpssuqqk3cc.jpg
Harper has been hired as a chef on the tour and she knows all about the world of rockstars, having seen the life her parents had as “roadies”. She’s independent, funny, and quirky and has no interest in relationships and certainly not impressed by the whole rockstar lifestyle!!!
“Women are a commodity, a vice, and a temptation.”
She knows how women are seen and treated as commodities by this industry and she has no plans whatsoever to get involved with Deacon McCoy, even if he’s cute and sexy!!! But soon finds herself unable to resist this rather gorgeous and talented man!!

Deacon is totally smitten with Harper. In fact, she’s the first woman he has ever wanted more than just a one night stand. But he understands her feelings and rather than act like hard-assed alpha-male, shows her understanding and caring.

I really liked seeing their relationship evolve, and as a couple they were pretty cute.
 photo 885953f59fea55369c56962b0564cdfd_zpsshfckgle.jpg
The banter between the two was really funny and so original….
"You gotta tell me your name.”
She stuffed a hunk of potato in her mouth. “Why do you care?”
“Because food orgasms are personal, and I need to know who’s giving me one.”

I also enjoyed learning more about the band members and the daily lives of people who are working so hard in achieving success and fame. All the good and bad things…and wow…Nick & Simon…total assholes!!!!

Great characters, fantastic writing, witty and clever dialogue.

I am really looking forward to continuing reading this series.

A story about love, music, and friendship that will tantalize all your senses with its rich descriptions and alluring plot and will leave you happy, sated and curious about what’s next for this so very different but great group of characters.

This book is not a cliché story about a “whorey” bad boy musician that meets a sweet girl and changes his deviant ways. It’s not even just about a boy and a girl. It’s a story about rock band that loves music and wants to make it big. It’s also about a career minded woman with ambitions of her own. It’s a great telling of what happens when Deacon McCoy, bassist for Oblivion meets Harper Lee, chef for their tour.

Harper is an independent, carefree woman that grew up with roadie parents who were constantly on the road. Besides being solely interested in staying unattached, she has build an immune system to artists mainly because she understands what happens in that lifestyle. “Women are a commodity, a vice, and a temptation.” Focusing on her career working as a chef on tour won’t be a problem. Or so she thinks.

Deacon McCoy “is the definition of a Boy Scout.” “With a merit badge in hot.” And underneath his tall, tatted and talented exterior lay a patient man, “the backbone for everyone,” determined to lead his band to success.

They didn’t expect each other, but once they came across each other it seemed like they were destined to be together.
“And now this man that had torn through her like a summer storm was beside her, steady as a rock. She’d seen it in his eyes. Forever. As if he could actually inject it into her veins like a drug, with the passion between them.”
“There would be an indelible mark on her, no matter what. A Deacon tattoo that branded her heart as his.”

Even when “his career and hers were on completely different trajectories.”

Besides giving us great characters and plot, Taryn Elliot and Cari Quinn have crazy writing skills. Rocked is funny, flirty, swoony and oh so darn sexy. It’s also filled with beautiful descriptions and analogies that will make your mouth water when their talking about food,
"You gotta tell me your name.”
She stuffed a hunk of potato in her mouth. “Why do you care?”
“Because food orgasms are personal, and I need to know who’s giving me one.”
… the man was lethal.”

Ok so that was Deacon and Harper flirting because of food, but food does play an important role in the story.

Their metaphors will make you picture all the sights the characters witness, imagine the great music they produce even when you don’t know the tune or lyrics, and overall it will make you experience touch and intense emotions through their words.
“Every single time he touched her, the sense of belonging strengthened. They were like layers in a song he’d never hoped to create. Words were only one part of them. The harmony of their bodies moving together, the underlying melody of humor and rightness he felt around her, it all made up a composition he’d happily give a lifetime to figure out. She was his ultimate song that would never have an end.”

It’s also safe to say that I will never go to another rock concert and not think about this book and these characters. It gave me new perspective and appreciation about everything that goes on stage and behind the scenes even when I’m sure this was not the book’s main intent.

I can’t wait to get my hands on their next Lost in Oblivion book.

I don't normally do NA, but I know that when Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott put words on paper, they bring it and they bring it hard, so I was game to try this. Plus, the hero in this book, Deacon McCoy is based off Jared Padalecki so I was all in.

Let me tell you something, Goodreads...this book sexy touched me in ways I didn't think were possible. Sweet feathery nancy, did it ever sexy touch me. Of course, being a writer myself, I must convey the important aspects. The dialogue is spot on, the ensemble cast flows perfectly, the plot hits every beat it needs to and in the end, you're left with a smile on your face and a lady boner the size of the Empire State Building.

Did I say Lady Boner? Hell yes I did, and you want to know why? Because this book was rip-my-panties-and-push-me-into-a-wall sexy from start to finish. Deacon is the quintessential rock god; tall, tanned, smolder-to-the-ground sexy and sweet too. Tiny spoiler, but you have to fall madly for a man that's literally larger than life that snuggles with a damned kitten. Who doesn't drool over that sort of thing?! Harper is likable. Hell, she's actually lovable. In fact, the way her character develops made me damn near fall for her too!

The writing made me want to be an Oblivion fan. I want them to be a real bad, that does dirty covers of Bruno Mars and Aerosmith's Ragdoll. I want to own all of their albums and see them in concert and I want to be the president of the Demon Devil's fanclub.

This book was much like a great rock concert. All of the thrills, the heart-racing excitement, the over-the-top sexy, everything was spot on. I have such a big hangover from this book that I'm going back for another taste.

But Seriously, I claim Deacon McCoy in the name of her majesty, Queen Me. Go read the book and you'll see why. Unf. Just...dammit. Those fingers. *drool*

Quick summary
Deacon McCoy, bass guitarist for Oblivion, is adjusting to the loss of his role as de facto manager of the band and mediator by subjecting himself to strenuous exercise while they’re on tour. It’s paying off by him having a killer body and an appetite off the charts (pardon the pun). Harper Pruitt, a recent culinary school graduate, is part of the catering crew for the tour and finds in Deacon someone who appreciates her cooking skills and much more.

The issues
Deacon is drawn to Harper like no other and that’s an understatement. She’s grown up around rock stars (her parents were roadies) and she has a jaded view of musicians. He’s dead serious and she’s not interested in going down what she sees as a doomed path. She might be willing to do a casual dance but he’s much more committed.

What I LOVED!!!
Deacon. Deacon. Did I say Deacon? He is so delicious and I’m not talking about his physique, which is impressive. He has an old soul and kind spirit and refuses to give up on Harper who has her own goals. He’s patient, willing to play by her rules and is just plain decent. I couldn’t get enough of this man, even when Harper’s itchy nature drove me (and him) crazy. I loved how he loved her. Plus, his relationship with his dysfunctional band members was a work of art in itself with his ability to strike the right chords with them (yes, I’m shameless with these metaphors) at just the right moments.

The bottom line
I’m crazy about this series and just can’t get enough of these stories and characters. They are well written and the characters extraordinarily developed. The steamy scenes are….well, just don’t read them when you’re in a public setting. I was sad to let go of Deacon but am glad that the next novella features him again. This story Rocked!!! (There, I did it again).

Oh, one other thing. The writers have their work cut out for them to get me back on board with Nick, the lead guitarist. Right now…not feeling the love. 4.5 stars

(I received an ARC from the authors)

I'm totally seeing Jim Morrison as Deacon.

I had some difficulty with this book. I realized later that I'd started the prequel to this Seduced only to put it aside. Now I remember why. Rocked is a classic NA rock star book. It has some great characters - the band - Deacon, Nick, Simon, Jazz and Gray. Rocked focused on Deacon and his relationship with the chef who traveled with the bands, Harper. Unfortunately, I never really consistently connected with Harper. Sometimes I really liked her and at others, she was annoying. Her sayings "big guy" or "Sweet Pete" or "pal" - ugh! annoying. I liked Deacon more but I grew tired of the constant references to his body - how great it was, how sculpted, how tall, etc. I also, and I am almost embarrassed to admit this, grew tired of the sex. I am a smut queen, but I like a little story with my sex. At times, Harper and Deacon were going at it like bunnies. But it felt gratuitous - not at all part of the plot. I even skipped a few pages. The scenes with the band and the issues with the record company were actually better than the scenes between Deacon and Harper. I really, really wanted to like the book but just couldn't connect well with the two MCs.

Following on the heels of the prequel novel Seduced that introduced the members of the rock band Oblivion to the literary world, this standalone novel gives us the story of Deacon, a gentle giant of a bass guitar player and Harper, a little spitfire chef who meet while on Oblivion's first real tour as an up and coming rock band.

Deacon and his band mates are just coming to grips with what life will be like for them in the near future as their fame and reputation grows. Harper, a roadie for most of her life, works as a chef for the tour and is unable to resist Deacon's gentle yet demanding attention despite knowing that at the end of the 6 week tour they will each go their own way.

I really enjoyed all aspects of this book - the descriptions of what goes on behind the scenes of a new band as it finds its groove; the banter and conflicts between the band members; the sexual chemistry between Deacon and Harper that burns through the pages of the book. At times emotionally charged, heartwarming and humorous, every emotion is well handled, well written and believable to the reader, making one feel that they are on this journey with the band. The love story between Deacon and Harper is the main focus, but all the secondary characters forge together to create a riveting story. I,for one, have my ticket booked for the upcoming 'tour' by this band as the Lost in Oblivion series continues with it's next release later in 2014. 5 well deserved stars!

DNF at 80%.
I'm going to be totally out of the chorus here but this book isn't for me. I actually enjoed the the first 30-40% then it started to bore me, more and more untill I simply couldn't bear to read any more.
My main problem was with the sex: great, smokin' hot sex, but sometimes they go at it like rabbits without a plot or a real development in their relationship. Since this is supposed to be the beginnig of a love story, I simply couldn't believe it, it seemed more simple sex to me. I couldn't feel an emotional connection, not with them and sadly not even between them.
Harper is quite annoying, Deacon is hot and tall and built, but how many times is it possible to repeat this without being plain boring?
It's really too long for what happens, not even the curiosity about what is evidently the problem with the contract was enough to power me on.

Ok, only 3 stars. In more than 10 days I wanted dnf this one several times.
Very long book, I think it'd be better to cut it in 2 parts.
Heroine, firstly I hated her, she was trying to be strong and not pull her panties for this hit guy ,but she was rambling with herself: "I'm strong, I don't blush, I don't sweat for this guy, I saw guys like him and they don't affect me...".. gahhhh
They had a lot of out doors and indoors sex...
Hero is a rock star, hot, tender, nice, caring, faithful man
Safe book. No cheating. No OP scenes.

Rocked was a really good book. I loved pretty much everything about it. Deacon wasn't your typical manwhore rockstar and Harper wasn't the naïve doormat female which was refreshing. Their relationship developed slowly and that made it stronger. This was a looong book, but I love lengthy books so no complaints from me.

The only thing that irked me was the constant touching, hugging, and climbing on that Deacon's bandmate Jazz did with him. They are perfectly platonic friends who really appreciate each other, but if that was my boyfriend I'd have to put a stop to it. Literally every time these two were in the same room Jazz was jumping on him, hugging him, or sitting in his lap. Ummm... that's a little too friendly for me. But other than that, I really enjoyed this book.

I was so excited to read this book that I went out and bought the first Seduced (Lost in Oblivion 0.5) and dived right in. I thought this book was sooo boring and to long winded. But even at that I started Rocked. I wanted to love it, I really did. I loved Deacon, but again like the first in the series I thought it was long winded at times and all they seemed to be doing was having sex. It seemed to me there was a story line, then loads of sex and then it got back to the story line. Ah I was frustrated with it because I was enjoying the story line.

Slick‘s review posted on Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

5 STARS

Review copy provided for an honest review

Holy hell these two authors have done it again and I am now and forever a total Oblivion groupie. In the prequel Seduced, they lured me in but now they’ve got me hook, line, and sinker. I flat out loved this book even during the difficult times because that’s life, nothing worth having is easy and these five people have worked hard and are just beginning to see that sometimes you have to be smarter and work harder to get what you deserve. Yes this is a story about one member finding love, but it’s also about this band coming of age and being thrust into the limelight and dealing with everything that comes with that. So grab your favorite worn jeans, a vintage rock and roll t-shirt, and get ready to have your eardrums bleed as Oblivion ratchets it up a notch and heads for the big time.

I wasn’t all that surprised the Deacon McCoy, Oblivion’s bassist, was the first to get serious with a woman because he is the most level headed and mature one in the band. Before they were “discovered” and before they hit this tour as an opening act, he was the one who found the gigs, arranged everything, and took care of everyone and the messes they created. Now the band has people who do that, so Deacon is feeling kind of uneasy and has a lot of extra time on his hands. Time he’s used to work out, work on some music, and the minute he meets Harper Pruitt time to get the girl. It was really hard not to fall in love with Deacon because he is the total package; loyal, kind, giving, sexy, and persistent.

Harper Pruitt isn’t someone who is impressed by rock stars. Growing up on the road with her roadie parents, working as a roadie until she left for culinary school, she’s back on the road as a chef and happy for the opportunity to be a part of a great team. However from the minute Deacon walks into the catering tent he throws her and she can’t seem to get him out of her mind and her body refuses to let her. To top it off the more time she spends around him, the more she realizes that he is truly a good man and that’s even more dangerous to someone with a plan. What I loved about Harper is that she may be young but growing up on the road and around some of the biggest rock stars in the world; she knows how to handle herself and doesn’t need anyone to help her. Deacon recognizes her independence early on and he respects it and fosters it. He gets her and surprisingly she gets him and she sees sides of him he doesn’t let most people see.

These two were just spectacular together; the form this odd little friendship which quickly grows into more and although that scares the hell out of Harper, Deacon couldn’t be happier. They spend time with the other band members and I especially enjoyed watching Harper’s jealousy of Jazz, the band’s drummer, turn into real friendship between the two. Both Harper and Deacon both come with baggage and yes when push comes to shove they both tend to fly off the handle and speak without thinking, but when they make up they do so in spectacular fashion. We also come to realize how much these two are alike with their need to belong somewhere to someone. Oh, Harper will try and convince you that’s not what she wants but Deacon enjoys proving her wrong.

Here’s what really endeared me to this book. I’m a big fan of indie everything; authors, bands, and artists. So the fact that these authors have the band Oblivion using the tactics that so many indie bands these days are using to make a name for themselves intrigued me. Using social media to connect with fans and spread the word about their band and tour, Oblivion went from virtually unknowns to opening for a big name act, to being courted by a record company for a big deal. Having seen this actually happen, it was interesting to see it play out in this book. Along the way some mistakes were made by some members who threaten the band’s future, but this only adds to the realism of the pressure put on groups like this when they become overnight sensations.

I honestly can’t say enough good things about this book. I did enjoy the fact that we got a better understanding of most of the characters and their motivations. The romance between Deacon and Harper was fun and sexy, but it’s also very special and loving. The road to stardom for this band is bumpy but that’s what makes this series so good because getting there is half the fun. 518 pages were way too many to cover this stubborn, reluctant to trust/love a rock star chef heroine and her mountain of muscle, hunk of a rock star hero love story. Not that I didn’t enjoy Deacon’s good guy, determined character, but I was surprised how slow the pace became by 30% into it. It never picked up, folks. It became painful and disappointing to keep hoping it would. Unless you’re into reading countless detailed, repetitive, drop of the pants, graphic smex scenes, I think you’ll likely feel the same. The smex seemed to hijack a non-existent, unriveting, irrelevant story line. Sure, a few issues regarding the band popped up here and there (i.e., working out a contract, a former deadbeat band member showing up) but it was all still done at a snail’s pace. Yeah, I got to meet and know a little something about the other sub characters (band members), mainly because there was loads of time on my hands and theirs. The band dynamics were well covered.

I’m still really not sure what Deacon saw in Harper. Yes, she was a talented, hot chef and rocked his world when it came to food and smex. But how could you fall for someone who constantly (and I do mean constantly) reminded you they didn’t want anything more after six weeks. Wouldn’t you just start to feel used for one thing only? This reformed man ho actually deserved better. He certainly wanted more from her and often told her.

Good golly, Miss Molly...I was excited to finally find a new to me rock band series to delve into. If they are all so slow paced, overly drawn out, with no intriguing point other than what the synopsis spells out, I’ll likely have to give most of this series a pass. This book was way too long and certainly did not need sequels to drag it out even longer. I just discovered after reading the synopsis of the other books, these authors drag out these main couples stories over 2 - 3 books each! I’m just having a hard time imagining that, folks. I wish them all the best and am glad others seem to enjoy this book. I just think more condensed, less smex, and more substance in the writing would have been better.

Title: Rocked, Series: Lost in Oblivion (Book 1), Author: Taryn Elliott/Cari Quinn, Pages: 518, stand-alone but part of a series, focused on her job chef heroine, sweet mountain of muscle hunk rock star hero, a reformed man ho whose been celibate for a couple months, leary of rock star romance heroine, NUMEROUS graphic lengthy smex scenes, no OW/OM drama, head over heels for her, knucklehead annoying to me at times heroine, very slow paced, overly drawn out.

(I voluntarily read and reviewed a Kindle Unlimited version of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I was not given any payment or compensation for this review. There is no affiliation or relationship between this reviewer and the author, publisher, or any PR firm.)

It's been a while since I read SEDUCED and as I didn't have time to re-read before I received the advanced copy of ROCKED that I won, I had to re-familiarize myself with the band members and their back-stories. This took me about one or two chapters and I was back in the thick of it! Though this book is about Deacon (bass player) we get enough glimpses of the rest of the band and the dynamic is evolving from the first book (prequel) now that they're signed and trying to become a big name in the music scene.

The combination of rock star and foodie romance was awesome. It was like two of my fave subgenreshad got together and made a baby that made me melt with its goodness. I loved reading about music, the tour and the performance bits as much as the cooking and food bits. And there was in a nice bonus in the tattoo bit. And then there was the fights and fistfights...multiple ones and they just completed this book. The road to fame is paved with conflict and insecurities and there were many times the tension took my breath away.

The romance of Harper and Deacon was fabulously written. The build-up, the layers, the back-stories that were uncovered bit by bit, it all drew me in until I was surrounded by it and it wouldn't let me go, even when I wasn't reading. And it was hot, so effing hot! With all the emotions and the sweet moments and the urgency pitted against the rightness of it all, these scenes set the pages on fire and I could've done with something to cool off on many, many occassions.

I loved everything about this book. Both in the romance as in the evolution of the band there are obstacles to overcome and the authors did an amazing job. While not a fan of NA this series has drawn me in completely and I'm not leaving anytime soon.

Memorable scenes:
The popover-making scene > cute and hot
The tattoo parlor scene > I was glued to the pages
The shower scene > OMG!
The rainstorm scene > awesome until they were caught :)
The beating scene > OMG OMG OMG! (But still love a good fighting scene and this one was epic!)
Red Rock chapters > fave part of the book

Fave Quotes:
“Oh, man. You are twice blessed in this whole cooking gig. You gotta tell me your name.”
She stuffed a hunk of potato in her mouth. “Why do you care?”
“Because food orgasms are personal, and I need to know who’s giving me one.”

What she wanted to do was wrap herself around him, sob like a freak, and then fuck him blind.

The man was a damn temple of sin in skin.

“You don’t get to just blurt that stuff out, you know. I was enjoying a very satisfying orgasm and a perfectly boneless afterglow.” [Harper]

Rocked was a well written, intriguing, and hot with a capital H, book. It was also incredibly drawn out and repetitive book too though, with an ending that left me wishing for something different.

Rocked is centered around the relationship between Harper and Deacon. Harper is a former roadie and recently graduated chef with a jaded view of the rock 'n roll lifestyle. Deacon is the bassist of the up and coming band, Oblivion, who isn't your typical just making it big rock star. The two meet on tour, where Harper is just starting out on her career as a sous chef with the caterers for the tour. Insert sparks between the two here.

Harper is really hesitant for anything more than a hook up. She has been there, done that and came home with a t-shirt. Deacon, however, pushes for more from the start. It makes for an interesting dynamic between the two. The biggest problem with this, is that this dynamic just ends up extremely repetitive after a while. Honestly, there is only so much sex and so much relationship questioning (on Harper's part) that I can take. I think that we could have done without a few chapters of this book and still wouldn't have lost the understanding on their relationship. I can't really say that it messes up the book, per se, but that was primarily because I just skimmed a good chunk of the second half.

While the relationship between Harper and Deacon was interesting, I think the band itself was the thing that really made this book for me. Oblivion is just starting to make it big, so we really got to see their journey from getting discovered, to touring, to finally getting that record deal and all of the troubles and joys in between. There is a prequel book that shows how the band got together, but I have not read it yet. I'd say that it won't affect your understanding of this book, but I plan to check it out anyway just in case. Anyway. At times, the band kind of overshadowed Deacon's relationship, but that really isn't a bad thing. Especially since it was the relationship aspect that got so repetitive.

Overall, this book is definitely worth reading. Be prepared to skim if you aren't into tons and tons of sex and drama, but give it a shot regardless.

A surprisingly good rocker romance. You've got a guy built like an Alpha male but with attentive, sweet personality and without the temper, a good female character who doesn't waste too much time on her worries and indecision, and a nice plot-line. I was extremely happy there wasn't too much angst, too.

3.5....could have been 4 but for a bit of a drag in the middle and a drop in editing/proofing then too. Loved the characters! Very much like real life on the road, which most rockstar reads aren't, IMHO.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, pardon me that was my impression of my teenage daughter FANGIRLING , oh wait no that was me!! I loved this book!
So yes I am FANGIRLING and my concert banner is all about Deacon"Demon " McCoy, sexy tall , muscular athletic, hot Basist for the band Oblivian, who when he is not busy Rocking out loves a good run and good food, so is it any wonder that he is drawn to the sexy new chef Harper Lee Pruitt, she is beautiful and she cooks great food !

Harper is use to the routine of traveling the circuit with the bands her parents are roadies, she grew up on the road going to culinary school and then traveling with the shows has always been her plan, getting involved with a sexy Basist is not ; but when Deacon flashes his smile and dimples at her and worms his way into spending time , ignoring him is impossible.
These two play wonderfully off each other and there relationship is sizzling hot, the band and the machinations going on add a whole additional layer, coul not put this book down . I am sooooo looking foward to the next two books ! The for a continuation of Harper and Deacon, and what happens with this up and coming band, then we are promised a book on Jazz , Oblivians drummer and Grayson one of the guitarists!

Oh Deacon always the flirt, "what's your name? I can tell you right now you're going to see a lot of me. I'm pretty much a black hole when it comes to food." I mean a really big flirt, "I'm more than happy to put you in my bed." What happens when you try to do the right thing for Deacon the boy drags you in bed, "Deacon," she said softly. He grunted what she could only guess was a no. "I've only go an-" She squeaked as his arm shot out and dragged her under him and snapped the curtain shut in the space of a second. He tucked her under him, sliding his knee between her thighs before burying his face into the hollow of her neck." He's also a playful boy, "he slapped her a**. "Quiet, Lawless. I'm just getting you back to work faster, that's all." Since dignity had evidently left the building, she had her arms fall straight down to his back. And because his very fine a** was there, she gave him a slap right back." He also has lots of stamina ladies, "see, that's what I said earlier." She felt his co** stir behind her, and she moaned when he slipped inside her once more. "You're going to kill me." I'm stoaked for the next book in the series.

Taryn Elliott and Cari Quinn have done is again (per usual style). Rocked, well, quite literally, rocked. I loved Harper and Deacon, and Rocked brought all the magic I was hoping for with the prequel that didn't quite hook me.

These two together are a duo clearly just work. While I love their writing separately, together they are a force to be reckoned with.

Harper and Deacon just stole my heart. And I really hope we get to see more of them in future books, in more than just fleeting glances in passing, as I just adored the pair of them. They compliment each other in more ways than one as characters.

Part of the storyline towards the end irked me to no end, and I was ready to throw things at two of the characters. And while the other characters seem to have forgiven, or at least accepted them, I still think they should have rotten tomatoes thrown at them ;)

I cannot wait to see more from this fantastic set of characters, including George the female cat. Jazz is such a fun character, so seeing she gets her story told in the next book has me jazzed ;)

I went into this book expecting your typical rock star novel. I was happily surprised with this story. This book was a looooonnnng read, but that meant their story was able to develop to an even deeper level. Deacon is the perfect combination of sexy musician, alpha male and a heart made of gold. He isn't your typical rock star who bangs every groupie that comes his way. And Harper isn't your typical girl who swoons around every famous musician. She grew up in the roadie life and her jaded view makes her cautious of being involved with Deacon who makes her feel a connection that she fights knowing that their time together has a expiration date (aka the end of the tour).
Can I just tell you that the sex scenes were totally of the charts amazing????

I will definitely be reading the next book when it is released! Oblivion might just be my favorite new band.

I received a complimentary copy of this book via Netgalley in exchange for a honest review (thanks!!!)

Listened to this on Audio and it was good, the characters suited the narrators voices there was bits of music between chapters it was really good.

Both Deacon and Harper are both mature characters. Despite this being a rockstar read Deacon is sensible and definitely not a manwhore like his other band mates he falls heart first for Harper, he just has to prove he's not like the rest.

Harper is a catering chef with the touring bands and grew up with groupie parents, she's seen how rockstars are and the last person she would ever see her self falling for is said rockstar.

It's a great read with likeable characters, hot, humerous, fun and looking like a fab series to follow.

Will read more from this series.

Totally devoured this book. I absolutely love the dynamic created among the band, and the way Harper fit right in was perfect.

It was an easy read, in that it kept my attention the whole way through, and I. Simply. Adore. Deacon. :).

The sexual tension at the start between Deacon and Harper was outdone only by the HOT culmination of their attraction.

The intra-band angsty stuff was very well written too; those silent stares among them were palpable, and their fighting was all too real.

Taryn, Great work, my friend. I'm (impatiently) waiting for to the rest of the series; though I don't know HOW you are going to make me like Nick :p
