We are back with the second Parkhurst brother in How to Tempt an Earl. Bronwyn Scott writes a consistently good book, and I loved book one of this series, so I had high expectations going into book two. It was fast-paced, full of intrigue, and super hot.

Kieran Parkhurst was made the Earl of Wrexham as blood money for the loss of his younger brother earlier in the year. In order to make his title hereditary, he needs to marry within a year, but Kieran has no interest in marriage. He is a Horseman, part of the espionage network his grandfather founded and his older brother Caine now runs; his life is not compatible with a wife and family. That is, until he meets Celeste Sharpton.

Celeste was raised within a criminal network, and when her father died, the head of that network became her guardian. She knew what he was doing but didn’t say anything or leave to protect herself. But when things got too dangerous, she left with only what she could carry and went to warn the Horsemen that her guardian was coming for them. He was responsible for their brother’s death and wants revenge for the plot the Horsemen foiled in that encounter. Celeste plans to warn them and then disappear, but things are too dangerous, and Kieran insists on protecting her, even if it means taking her into his own home.

This book was great. Kieran and Celeste are very similar people. They both feel they bear responsibility for things that were out of their control and therefore feel that they need to be alone to protect everyone else. I really enjoyed the parallels in their characters, even if the reasons for their guilt and subsequent decisions are different. Kieran thinks his life is too dangerous for a family; Celeste feels guilty over her choice to stay in her guardian’s house for so long. But they’ve both made a decision to be alone to protect themselves and everyone around them.

I think the strongest part of this book was the chemistry between Kieran and Celeste. The physical intimacy, both in sex scenes and in moments when they are simply touching, is what drives their relationship forward. Celeste doesn’t trust herself to make a character judgment after her last relationship blew up in her face, but she feels oddly safe and comfortable with Kieran—the physical connection telling her that she can trust him.

The plot of this book was super predictable. I’ve read countless iterations of it. I still enjoyed myself, but I did wish there had been more twists and turns like there were in the first book of the series. Still, I had a good time. 4 stars.

Loved more the first but also this book is intriguing and full of tension.
This Is the second book of the Horsemen brothers. This Is the story of Kieran Parkhurst and Celeste Sharpton. After the wedding of his Brother Caine, Kieran Is sent by his Grandfather (the Mastermind behind their been spies) to London in sought of an informant that held news about the men in cohort with their enemy Number one: Cabot Roan. The informant Is not what he expected, in primis Is a woman, second she Is Roan's Ward. Both are suspicion of the other but She must put confiance in him, Roan doesn't like traitors. When danger comes at his door, he decides to repair to his new estate Wexham. The Voyage to Wales aides them to be close, passion Is Always in the brink of explode. When they arrive at Webcam, Kieran tells to his staff that Celeste Is his fiancee. They begin a routine where they play as earl and duchess of his estate. Danger comes to Wexham and trying to protect Kieran from Roan, Celeste runs from the manor rightly in the claws of Roan. It seems that all she did put Kieran more in danger than before but....
The second epilogue is poignant. What this Horsemen believe and be, stay with them even when they don't remember be an Horseman.
If you love rakes, spies and romance this series is for you.

I received this book as an arc from the author but my review is real
