I never thought I'd fear the man who made me beautiful.
Dr. Cillian White was charming, his offer to care for me post-surgery a godsend. His mansion seemed like paradise—until I tried to leave. Now his smile doesn't reach his eyes. ‘You're not ready,’ he says, locking the door. But I've healed. There's no medical reason to keep me here.
Days stretch into weeks. His touch lingers too long, his gaze too intense. I realize with growing horror, he never intended to let me go. In this house of isolation and terror, I'm trapped with a man who sees me as his masterpiece.
And he's determined to keep his creation forever.
In this chilling new domestic thriller, appearances can be deceiving, and the scalpel that promised Daisy a new life may just seal her fate. —————

I feel like this is a continuing theme for me currently but what on earth did I just read. The last 50 pages were shocking after a very below par beginning and middle the ending was wild and not in a good way……
If you like crazy books, then this one is for you! It is crazy both literally and figuratively! A woman is on the run from her husband AND she wants plastic surgery on her face to become “beautiful “. After the surgery she goes to the surgeon’s house (crazy!) to recuperate! But, of course, not all is as it seems! Plus, don’t forget about that husband chasing her around and becoming too close to finding her! Things escalate quickly and towards the ending, I was reading in warp speed! The only thing I didn’t care for was the ending, but I completely understood it!
AJ Carter has consistently captivated me with his gripping narratives and expertly crafted characters, and in his latest work, ‘The Plastic Surgeon,’ he truly surpasses himself.
This novel showcases his fantastic skills as a storyteller, offering a brilliant and suspenseful plot that kept me fully invested from start to finish, each chapter unravelling with an intensity that left me yearning for more.
This is undoubtedly AJ Carter's best book to date. With its fast-paced and cleverly constructed dual timelines, its intricate plot, which weaved together elements of mystery, thrill, and psychological tension.
Thank you AJ for an early copy and for having me on your ARC team.
Not really sure what to say about this book. It kept me interested enough to finish it, but I felt like something was missing the entire book. Had some good twists but some of them felt poorly placed and left me feeling more confused. The twist at the end did make me gasp, but then the book just ended and left me feeling like it wasn’t complete finished. Had potential to be a good book but just felt like it fell short.

Psychological thriller with an interesting premise but unfortunately fell flat fast.
The writing was decidedly poor, any twists included didn't seem to be cleverly incorporated and instead were just randomly plopped in when the time came. Also a lot of the story didn't particularly make sense (how did she get away with snooping & discovering the truth randomly, when he'd been monitoring everything?!) and didn't answer many questions. The idea of the story was good, and it was a quick read so I didn't particularly mind finishing it just to see what happened. However I wouldn't recommend and probably wouldn't read anything else by this author. ---
I thoroughly enjoyed The Plastic Surgeon an amazing domestic psychological thriller by A J Carter.
Daisy has been in an abusive relationship with Jason her partner and has put many miles between them to start afresh.
Daisy feels ugly because Jason has ingrained this to her every day when he came home from work. Daisy has had enough and opts for plastic surgery to not only enhance her apperance but to not be recognised by Jason.
After her surgery was complete she had nowhere to rest post-surgery so Doctor Cillian White offers to put her up at his opulent mansion to recuperate.
Unbeknown to Daisy Doctor Cillian White is a Doctor Jekyll and Mr Hyde character and Daisy is in grave danger.
I felt for both Doctor Cillian White and Daisy as they both had issues of neglect and lack of love and that is why they felt that the world they are living in has gone darker.
Daisy needs to escape, forever, so she decides to have plastic surgery, a big decision but she thinks she has no choice….the decision she makes will indeed change her life but not in the ways she thought
A clever sub story re Daisy’s hubby made the read even better and an unexpected ending for all really turned it into a sobering finale
A peek into the world of plastic surgery and the downfalls of it and the stress pain and anxiety that goes with the ultimate challenge of fully changing yourself wrapped in as always a good psychological thriller by this author
It will make you think twice if you are considering plastic surgery
This book was GOOD!! Daisy was on the run, trying to save herself and start a new life, only to land in an even worse situation. She ended up shacking up with her “doctor,” only to find out he wasn’t!! Cillian spoke such a good game, he had me believing he was a real doctor for the longest time. Enter Freddy. The man who came to avenge his brother’s death. Stuck together in a fight for survival, they needed each other to get out alive. It was sad to think Daisy might have gotten “stuck” with him, were it not for the proactive poison she gave him. And that’s the cliffhanger this book ended on. Dammit!!
The Plastic Surgeon – a trip to a surgeons office has never taken such a dark turn. Daisy definitely got more than she bargained for from this surgeon, definitely something money could not buy. This book is full of lots of dark twist and turns and just when you think you’ve got it figured out, trust me that will not be the case as I thought this two or three times throughout the book, and believe me, I was so wrong! This book will definitely get your brain thinking throughout. So well written by AJ Carter. Totally recommend if you enjoy a good brain twister.
This was a weird ride and struggled to like any of the characters tbh. Who on earth goes and stays with a stranger especially after surgery?!? I guess because the main character is on the run from her abusive 'ex' which turns out not to be and in fact, this man is in love with her but it's too late.
I think I would actually give this book a 2.5, ending with more unanswered questions for the FMC.
Quite intriguing. 3.5* The protagonist wasn't the luckiest girl in the world but she did seem to bring it on herself sometimes. What a dilemma! Not a likable character but I did feel sorry for her on occasion. Some evil men in this story but Daisy is a fighter...her life depends on it. Not twisty (well there was one!)) but certainly unpredictable with some suspense. Probably one of the better books I've read by this author. Enjoyed it.
Enjoyable but ridiculous story about a woman who goes on the run after murdering her abusive husband. A stretch too far to expect readers to believe someone willingly undergoes surgery without consulting her plastic surgeon face to face and, happily goes off with a stranger post-surgery assuming he is her surgeon to recover at his home. 3 stars
So many things wrong with this book! Starting with the plastic surgery. Twisted, dark and a lot of unanswered questions! Very disjointed making the story not believable. Characters showing up out of the blue like Freddy. I have to give the author credit though that I wanted to finished the book just to see how crazy it was going to end!
Daisy is being abused by her husband. She goes on the run to get away. She decides to have plastic surgery because he didn't think she was pretty.. Cillian picks her up at the hospital and takes her to his house. Lots of things happening. Great characters great story well written.
This psychological thriller kept me on the edge of my seat! It’s a fast paced, action packed thriller full of drama and suspense. There were twists and turns throughout the chilling plot. I never knew what was going to happen to Daisy next! This is a must-read!
Hard to read a book where the protagonist is a horrible person and you keep waiting for her to redeem herself, but it just gets worse. You also keep reading waiting for the book to get better and it never does, with the ending being the worst of all.
DNF 63%. Should have quit earlier, story up to this point is extremely repetitive and outlandish. Story requires too much suspension of disbelief to continue and do not have any interest in how this book ends.
I really didn’t like this book. It felt like the author was going in one direction and totally changed his mind half way through the book and it didn’t make any sense. The whole premise was far fetched.
Carter never disappoints. What a twist at the end of the story, yet totally believable. His heroine is a well developed character as is the villain. I sat up until three in the morning to see where the prologue fit in.
This book caught me in the very beginning, then was a little slow moving in the middle, but soon again I was caught up in the story and couldn't put it down. The ending took me by complete surprise. I never saw it coming.
I was very disappointed with this book as it had SO much potential. So many holes in the story and so many twists that were completely underwhelming. By 15% in I was lost but had to keep going. Nothing improved, despite me trying my best.
Yet another fantastic read by AJ Carter. It had me hooked from the very beginning. It was a little slow moving in the middle but soon picked up again and I couldn't put it down. The ending took me by complete surprise. I never saw that coming.
