This was a cute book and I thoroughly enjoyed it, I did think about taking a star off due to the fact that Darcy is still swooning over Scott till the end of the book despite the fact that he is a drag and she has handsome and wonderful Carl in love with her. I wish she could have dropped him earlier and I'm sure I wasn't alone when wanting to smack some sense into her lol. But she explains her reasoning at the end that she thought was into Scott so long it had become a habit and she was blind to his faults, we all make mistakes. All in all I liked her, Carl was wonderful of course. It was a fun book that reminded me of Rock n Roll Sweetheart, another of the Sweet Dreams books. Aside from the romance, the wholesome 80s families and friendships in these books always makes me happy.

I had this book when I was in 9th grade. I wasn't a big reader of romance novels but I probably picked it up at Magic Mart, and probably because it was about a rock band. The cover price is $2.25, which would be just over two week's allowance for me and meant not buying some new 45s for a bit.

(EDIT: Now that I think about it I think I actually received this as a birthday present from one of my friends, because I did NOT buy books in Jr High...I bought records, and got my books from the library)

I had vaguely remembered the storyline for years, but couldn't remember the title or the author or ANYTHING until a reader of the "Lost Classics of Teen Lit" blog was able to jog my memory AND let me know a copy was available on Archive.org! So I read it this afternoon.

Storyline: Darcy's crush is in a rock band with her but he fires her from the band. So she makes her OWN band, the new drummer of which is hawt. Will she stick with her crush? Or the new guy? It's a pretty basic, albeit enjoyable YA novel.

Not sorry I spent two hours on archive.org reading.

Probably one of favourite Sweet Dreams books so far (I have a lot of them but not all). There are two reasons why. First of all, it's about music! I love music, especially rock and the 80s stuff, so this book was right up my alley regarding the theme and concept. Secondly, the story was pretty original and exciting compared to other Sweet Dreams novels. It is an ideal revenge/I'll-show-you teenage tale with romance here and there. I judge a book mostly by it's readability and how hard it is to put down. Therefore, I think this was a great one as I managed to finish it under 48 hours. I loved everything about this book, including the characters. Although the main character can be perceived as a bit foolish, she is a teenager and human after all, so I can forgive her. Carl is a sweetheart and Scott is a perfect contrast to him. Stephanie Foster definitely hit it out of the park with this one. The "Rhythm of Love" is highly recommended!

The storyline was good in this one - who doesn’t love a good ‘success is the best revenge’ tale. I felt bad for Boy No. 2 (Carl) when Darcy kept second guessing herself on who she loved (even though we could see that Boy No. 1 (Scott) was a total conceited user dickface).
I loved the nostalgic 80’s references of Jordache Jeans and Pat Benatar ❤️

Shameful (yet wholesome) guilty pleasure. We all need them!
