Just Lunch: A Short Story

Rate this book
10,000 word short storyLexi’s boss Austin moved away six months ago, and she still regrets not sleeping with him before he left. When she has the chance to meet him for lunch in his new city, she dreams of finally being able to get naked with the sexiest man she’d ever met. Lexi’s only problem? Her new boyfriend. As Lexi struggles to decide how far she’s willing to go, Austin presents her with an offer she can’t refuse. A night at his beach house, a dip in his hot tub, and a chance to make her fantasies a reality. There’s a definite line between temptation and betrayal, but when Austin reveals the real reason he invited her home, it makes her question everything. “Give me your foot,” he instructed. “I bet those shoes you were wearing today made your feet hurt like hell.” I hesitated, reluctant to surrender to his touch so soon, but I’d be damned if I was going to turn down a foot rub. My heels had hurt like a son of a bitch since the second I’d put them on that morning. I drifted a foot toward him, stopping when my toes brushed against his knee. His fingers gently circled around my ankle, pulling my foot closer to him. One thumb applied steady pressure along the arch of my foot, instantly sending a flash of lightning streaking through my core. His other hand gripped my toes, wiggling them around and threading his fingers between each coral painted nail. I gasped at the strength of his touch, the intensity of his gaze holding me captive. Why did he have to be so fucking sexy? When his fingertips pressed against the sore tendons across the top of my toes, I sighed with pleasure, closing my eyes and letting my head fall back. “That feels incredible,” I breathed. His skillful hands kneaded away every last ache in my tired muscles, and just when I thought he was finished, his fingers brushed my other calf, guiding that foot closer to him. Each stroke along my foot reverberated up my leg and pulsed around my clit, and when he slid his hand up to my knee, I almost lost my mind. As his strong fingers pulled the tension from my calves, all my willpower melted away, leaving behind an uncontrollable urge to touch his incredible body. I opened my eyes, heart pounding with the thrill of anticipation. Things had progressed to the point of no return for me, and I was willing to bet my annual salary he felt the same. All I had to do was give him the green light. “I bet your cock is so hard right now,” I purred, letting my foot wander closer to him, grinning slyly when my toes touched his rigid abs. He didn’t miss a beat. “It’s actually been hard since I saw you at lunch. And hearing you say cock is not helping the situation.” His heated gaze matched mine across the bubbling water, not breaking eye contact. “Big, hard, throbbing cock,” I drawled slowly, watching as his eyes grew heavier by the second. His hand returned to my foot, and just when I thought he was about to continue the foot massage, I found he had other plans. *Reviews*“Is this really Addisyn Jacobs' first book? I like the storyline, really liked the hot scenes, and loved the compassion of the male character, Austin. So many times we wonder- what if? Lexi was lucky enough to get the answer to her question, and have a night she'd never forget!” -Joanne“Loved this story but it needs a sequel. Austin is so hot and the chemistry between these two is amazing! Please Ms. Jacobs don't leave us hanging--we want them to have more than just lunch.

Two people who were once separated by vocation and distance take advantage of their mutual attraction for one another. Lexi has a boyfriend, Austin has a girlfriend, and they are both spurred on by a reciprocal lack of consideration for their significant others.

description

So these two set out to be cheaters when:
A) Austin not only invited Lexi back to his home, but suggested they spend time in his hot tub
B) Lexi had recently become official with her boyfriend and spared no hesitation showing her physical interest in Austin.

I sort of liked this short story, but the ending felt unfinished and the main characters were cold as hell for what they did.

For a short story there were a lot of sex scenes in this one. Albeit rather brief and forgettable.

The story is well edited, no annoying errors. However I would have enjoyed it more had the characters been more fleshed out. I really didn't get it, in short these two live out there fantasy hook-up both without remorse or a conscience.

The author has a good voice. I loved the addition of the dog and the beach, both were described perfectly, shame I couldn't say the same about the characters.

That said, the author summed up in her afterwords.
*I've read an unhealthy amount of romance novels, and last year I decided to try and write one of my own. When I realised how long it would take, I thought it might be better to start off with a short story.

My thoughts when reading that.

Review based on a free copy. Good job of building characters in a few pages. I found the cheating thing a little unnecessary. I kept waiting for why it was needed to play into the plot, never found a reason other than to show if these two would have hooked up long term they never would have had any degree of trust between them when around other super hot people of the opposite sex. I guess that's reason enough "I would move here to be with you, but I'm afraid you would do me like you did her so thanks for the fuck. Til we cheat again, later."

Just Dinner is the next one in line. 4 stars.
I love the connection between the two main characters; it's too bad they are already attached and are cheating against them to be together. The story is well written and the editing is rich (bravo to the editor). If I was the heroine, I would have felt completely loved and cherished by the hero. There is no cliffhanger per se but there's also no closure. Apparently the author is promising a next book but that's been two years ago (2014).

Four stars instead of three because the story was more believable than most. Will there be a second verse or will Lexi (and the rest of us) simply be left with bittersweet memories of what might have been?

Ever since Lexi was first hired and she saw her boss Austin, there was this sexual connection between them. When she finds out that he is leaving and moving to San Diego she knows that she will never get to see what would've been between them.

Six months later she gets the chance to visit San Diego and she is meeting Austin and having lunch with him. She's in a relationship with someone else and knows that she shouldn't give into her feelings that she still has. Seems Austin is feeling the same way.

I hate not really finding out what really happens between these two. That is the only part that I didn't like about it.

Yes yes, as others have already said, this was a short story which definitely left me wanting more, much more. The author did such a good job economically setting up the characters, giving us a clear insight in to who they are and their history, that it never felt rushed or as if we had to suspend disbelief.

This was a fast, fun, sexy read. Great writing and loved how bold the heroine Lexi was in going after what she wanted. I wasn't crazy about them cheating on their s.o.'s, but their chemistry was so hot, I can see how it was hard for them to resist. I really enjoyed this book!

Just Lovely

A quick look at love lost and reunited between Austin and Lexington. Told from Lexi's POV, you get to see her thoughts and they are hot! Great story but I wish it was full length.

Cute...

short story. Well maybe cute is the wrong word. I enjoyed the romance of this story. The two characters were realistic in their desires and I would like to see more about them.

Quick short read, sweet...to the point. Happy Lexi & Austin got their moment (3x!), but the ending was a bit lackluster for me.
