Scarlett Buck has always been flaky in comparison to her sensible twin sister Tara, so nobody is really surprised when Scarlett spends all her money on a one-way ticket to Australia to be with the man she’s met on the Net. But she hasn’t reckoned on the guy already being married, or her mom getting sick, and now she needs money for a flight home to Marietta, MT—quick. Signing on with Bella's Belles in Kalgoorlie isn't be the proudest moment in her life but it will get her home fast. After all, it's just sex.

Or is it?

Mitch Bannister's ex is about to marry his best friend, and he could really do with a cold beer and a hot woman. But the cowgirl he takes a shine to at Bella's is surprisingly skittish, and in the end he leaves without hooking up.

Later, when Mitch spies the cowgirl in the local pub begging for a job, he shrinks into the shadows—he's not looking for complications, and something tells him that Scarlett Buck is a whole handful of them. But soon it's clear she's not just trouble, she's in trouble, and like it or not, he's not about to turn his back on this stray from the States. Especially if she can do him a favor in return. After all, it's just a helping hand.

Or is it?

Trish Morey always fancied herself a writer, but was sternly advised that she better better think about getting a real job instead. Which Trish figures must be why she spent her university years washing dishes in a Chinese restaurant by night and picking gherkins for an Adelaide Hills primary producer by day. (Enough to put you off "real jobs" for life).

It was another twelve years, an accounting career and two babies on that Trish once again turned her mind to writing. it was a further eleven years (and two more babies:)) before Trish sold her first book to Harlequin Presents, and her dream of being a published author came true.

Some forty books later, Trish is now an award winning and USA Today Bestselling Author of some 40+ books. Trish still loves writing romance but these days combines it with all the fun, drama and sisterhood of women, family and girlfriends.

When she’s not out traveling the world in search of inspiration for her stories, Trish lives with her husband, Daisy their over enthusiastic Cavoodle pup, Daisy, and Leo, their very old and totally unenthusiastic cat, down on the glorious South Coast of South Australia where the waves crash over the granite rocks and splash upon the golden sands.

Trish reckons she has the best job in the world.

Heroine gets a job as a callgirl/prostitute and hero engages with her for sex is enough to throw me off.
She was desperate, and by engaging in that hero is part of objectifying a woman and part of sex trade which is not particularly appetising.
So no.
Not my kind of a hero.
I’m glad he decided to leave Australia and relocate in US, we don’t need guys like him in here.

Romance novella's are tricky to pull off. There's just not a lot of room for two people to meet and fall in love in so short a space. This novel has that weakness, but I found that I just didn't care. Scarlett is fun and Mitch fits her so well that I just ignored how short a time they knew each other and went with the flow.

This is even more surprising given the rocky start with them meeting in a bordello where Scarlett, desperate to get home quickly, is trying to convince herself that sex for money isn't that big a deal. Mitch's reason for being there is as, or more, lame. Steamy, but lame.

But recover from it they did, and came out not even terribly scathed... Morey does a yeoman's job moving them right along so well that I just let it go and enjoyed the rest of the ride.

A note about Steamy: A decent showing for so short a work. Two explicit scenes and some explicit playtime put this at the high end, though it wasn't enough to overwhelm the story.

I usually don't like fickle impulsive characters. I don't know if it's jealousy because I'm not that way or knowing you/I can't count on someone stinks. I do however like Scarlett Buck, a lot. She maybe impulsive and a free spirit, but she's definitely not selfish and her heart is in the right place. Scarlett gets bad news when she's half way around the world and out of money. In her hurry to get home, she convinces herself she can do something and be okay with it as long as it gets her home quickly and the universe brings her Mitch.

I love how when things didn't go as planned for both Mitch and Scarlett, Mitch didn't go the typical way I guy would. Mitch really showed he was a man. I also love how Mitch handled the situation with his mate Robbo and ex, that too just reinforces his good qualities. I love that he didn't give up on Scarlett even if he wanted to. I love that Scarlett was willing to go the extra mile and make things right with her sister and even with Mitch. I know the title says "second chance" but there is nothing second rate about this story or its characters. I'm sure you've noticed all the loves I've used and they are for a really good reason.

It's funny, but this novella is a little over a hundred pages long and somehow, this story makes total sense and as someone who usually scoffs, literally, at insta-love that's a big deal. There's no sense of incompleteness when you finish and the fact that the story manages to cover all the bases and insecurities both Scarlett and Mitch have, just makes this all the better.

I honestly had never read anything by Trish Morey before Second Chance Bride, but I can't tell you how impressed I am with this story and in turn with her and I have no doubt you will too.

I loved this book! Talk about a fun, sexy romp in Australia! Wow! Buy this book now!

Scarlett Buck--yes, real name--finds herself "stranded" in Australia and considers drastic means [brothel] to earn money to get home. In walks a sexy, hot Aussie, and she realizes she can't just **do** anything for money. She rejects him, and runs to town. No luck finding a job, she ponders her options, and is almost battered by a wayward drunk. Up walks sexy Aussie to the rescue.

Mitch Bannister is a mining engineer on holiday. He's about to be best man at a wedding for his friend who's marrying Mitch's ex. The American "cowgirl" at the brothel is just what he needs, but she rejected him! How does that happen? And how does he end up rescuing the cowgirl in distress?

Over coffee and a walk, they discover they could be mutually beneficial--he needs a wedding date, she needs money to fly home. Who knew this "proposition" could lead to lust, hot sex, and ultimately love. Of course, they have to go through a lot--crazy almost-wedding with a bridezilla, a few secrets revealed, a Vera Wang wedding dress with bad juju, and letting go of "the one."

Fortunately, love conquers the distance between Montana and Australia and ends with a wedding complete with a Kimberley diamond.

This is a cute, romance story. The setting of the story takes place in Australia and the author does a great job of describing the country, so much so it makes me wish I could go there. Anyway getting back to the story, Scarlett's in a bind to earn money to get home, she even considers resorting to drastic measures. But her luck changes when handsome Mitch Bannister enters the picture. Mitch offers her money in exchange for her pretending to be his girlfriend at the wedding of his ex-girlfriend (who's a shrew) and best friend. Scarlett agrees and Mitch sweets her off her feet as he pampers her with clothes, accessories, and an all expense paid trip. Before long the two start to fall for each other, but it's complicated by Scarlett's return home.

I liked Scarlett and Mitch, at times I found myself relating to Scarlett when she confessed to being impulsive and felt like she wasn't as good as her sister. However, there were a few moments where I was shaking my head at her actions. For example, she flew all the way to Australia to meet a guy she'd been chatting with online, she even bought a wedding dress thinking they'd get married. As for Mitch, I loved the way he treat Scarlett and showered her with gifts, he's definitely your typical romantic guy. The author spent a great deal of time talking about Mitch's past with his ex, however I would've loved to learn more about his family. He mentions his mother and his sister, briefly, but I think it would've helped develop his character if readers knew more about him.

My one critique of the book is that it was too short and the ending seemed to move by too fast. I think it would've been better if the author delved more into the characters pasts and their feelings for each other. Also, I would've preferred if she let more time progress before giving Mitch and Scarlett their happy ending.

Second Chance Bride was a great read. It was well written with great flow. I really enjoyed the relationship between Scarlett and Mitch. Especially sine they didn't dwell on how they met. I could not put this book down once I started reading it. I would recommend anyone who likes romance to read this.

Trish Morey grabs your attention quick at the beginning with a girl named Scarlett in a brothel and before you know it the story is over. She peaked my curiosity of how Mitch and Scarlet would pair up and end up back in Marietta, MT.

This is my first book I read by Trish Morey and will be adding her to my list of favorite authors.

Second Chance Bride by Trish Morey is the second book in the Montana Born Bride Series. I am a sucker for bride books and this series is going to be one of my favorites.

Second Chance Bride had me intrigued me from the first page. I could tell that it was not going to be your typical bride or jilted bride story and boy was I right! I loved that it opens in Australia, and could picture Mitch and hear that sexy Aussie accent. Scarlett just delighted me with the way she worked things out in her head.

Scarlett and Mitch meet under quite unusual circumstances and then go their separate ways after a not so great beginning only to run into each other again on the street after Mitch helps save her from a drunk. Scarlett offers to buy Mitch coffee (really that is all she can afford.) Scarlett is in Australia, because she wanted to surprise her cyber boyfriend only to be surprised herself. She had only bought a one way ticket and needs to get home to Marietta Montana to help take care of her ill mom and give her sister a break. Scarlett had been trying to find work so that she can get the air fare. Mitch feels like he needs to help her because she reminds him of his sister (he wishes someone would have helped her) and offers her a business proposition. Scarlett would pretend to be his girlfriend at a wedding where he is the best man and in exchange all expenses would be paid and he would buy her plane ticket home. Mitch had been dreading going to the wedding because the groom is marrying his ex-girlfriend and at least with Scarlett there it will much more enjoyable. Of course neither of them had counted on their undeniable spark flying chemistry as they get to know each other during all the festivities.

I loved this story; it was fast paced, filled with charming characters, sexy, sweet and everything you want in a great romance story. I also enjoyed getting to know about parts of Australia that I had never heard of and I liked the comparisons to Montana and the story does end in the lovely Marietta. I wish this was real town I could move to. This was the first book I have read from Trish Morey and it won’t be the last. I highly recommend it!

In Second Chance Bride by Trish Morey, Scarlett risked it all by up and leaving Marietta, heading to Australia to marry her 'true love', a man she met online. That definitely did not work out, to no one's surprise, and Scarlett is left broke, looking for work and a way to get home again as she carts around her backpack and bad luck wedding dress. She needs to get home, her mother is sick. Scarlett is determined to earn the money for a ticket home, no matter what the price to her. Or so she thinks.

Scarlett meets Mitch in a very unusual way, in a place she really has no business being. Scarlett is not at all what Mitch first thinks, but the chemistry between them is immediate. When that little job didn't work out and Scarlett sends Mitch on his way, she thinks she will never see him again. Fate has other ideas though, and she runs into Mitch again outside of a bar not long after their first meeting.

Mitch sees the desperation in Scarlett...she needs money and he needs help. When he proposes that she be his fake girlfriend for his best friends wedding (who also happens to be marrying Mitch's ex-fiancee), an all expenses weekend away and money for a flight home, it's a win win situation for all, right? Especially when they are both so hot for each other, to make it seem more realistic why not be real lovers for a few days? Neither expect to fall hard and fast for the other just as Scarlett has finally found a way to get home to Marietta. She will leave a piece of her heart in Australia when she leaves...because she can't bring him home...

Trish gives us a fast paced, steamy romance in Second Chance Bride with equal parts humor and romance that will pull on your heart strings and have you wishing there could be a happy ending for Mitch and Scarlett. I really fell for both of these people in Second Chance Bride! Scarlett has always been impulsive, unsettled, and just trying to find her way. She is strong and I loved how she was not easily intimidated! She speaks her mind and does what feels right for her...no holding back for this girl! She is a woman you could have as your friend, someone you can just feel a connection with. Mitch wasn't looking to become involved, but Scarlett is like a whirl wind who just pulls him in and he can't resist her, even if it is just temporary. He wasn't looking for more, but when he finds it in Scarlett he shows her in numerous ways how quickly she's become to mean something to him, even if they only have a short time together.

Second Chance Bride is well written, flows smoothly, and Trish makes it easy to become immersed in Mitch and Scarlett's story. This novella is the perfect length for the story to be told, a story that will make your heart happy. I highly recommend Second Chance Bride to any romance reader looking for a quick, sizzling romantic fix with two characters you can't help but love!

Scarlett Buck has worse luck of anyone she knows. She is just too compulsive, and too ready to trust everyone she meets. A high school drop out, she has blown opportunity after opportunity in an attempt to find her place in the world. Now she is in the biggest mess of her life. After trusting one person too many she finds herself on the other side of the world with a cursed wedding dress, no money, and a desperate need to get back to Marietta. At this point she'll do anything.

Mitch Bannister, is in a bind too. His best friend has asked him to be his best man. The problem is that the bride is Mitch's ex. He doesn't trust his ex and doesn't want to show up at the wedding hungry for a companion. In a chaotic turn of events Mitch finds Scarlett and makes an offer she can't refuse. Will she blow this opportunity too, or will she lose her anti-Midas touch and turn it golden.

I loved the Aussie lingo in this book! To many times Australian authors try to remove slang from their writings so as not to alienate their American readers, but the slang in this book was well placed and actually added to the story. There is much I don't know about Australia, so seeing the differences in the speech patterns and reading about some of the sites worth visiting in the West just whetted my appetite for a future visit.

Scarlett is an endearing character. She has a surprising lack of confidence for someone who seems to jump headlong into everything she does. Also, her resentment of her sister makes her even more relate-able.

Mitch is a good sport. A typical romantic hunk with a smart, physical job and money to burn. My only complaint in the entire book would be a total lack of back story for him. He mentions his sister, and alludes to something sinister, but then nothing comes of it.

The supporting characters take the cake for everything else. A villain, a buddy, a couple of supportive parental units, and a beta romance that makes you smile.

Overall, this story is a smile inducer.

What a great 2nd book in The Montana Born Brides series! These authors just keep cranking out wonderful books. Second Chance Bride by Trish Morey is a fun, sexy, fast moving romance.
In Second Chance Bride Scarlet Buck goes to Australia thinking she is going to get married to her online boyfriend(she even has her wedding dress with her), well things certainly do not go the way Scarlet planned it when she gets there! Having to earn money to try to get back home Scarlet and the HOT Mitch Bannister meet at a VERY interesting place(I had to read this part twice to make sure I had read it right.) Have I gotten your interest yet, well get Second Chance Bride and find out the rest of the story. I am sure you will not be disappointed, I wasn't. Looking forward to reading more of Trish Morey's books, thoroughly enjoy her writing.

Can I possibly give it more then 5 starts? I loved this story that much.
The story was very well written with a lot of depth to it. I grew to love the characters from the start and it just got better from there.

Mitch Bannister's ex is marrying his best friend. Kristelle was a nightmare and he really doesn't want to go to the wedding, but his friend asked him to be the best man. He can't turn him down even if he doesn't approve of the wedding.

Scarlett Buck has gone to Australia on a whim. She's made a lot of mistakes in her life and she thinks the plan she has this time is a good one. Little does she know, it just isn't meant to be. Now, she needs to get back home to Montana because her mother is sick. She spent all her money buying the one way ticket to Australia and is trying to work odd jobs to get the money for her flight back home.

Mitch and Scarlett meet at one of her jobs and when things don't go as either expected, they part ways only to meet again later in the day. He comes up with a plan that will help both of their situations. Little do they know, fate has a bigger plan for them both.

Scarlett Buck could write a book about making the wrong choices, about not thinking before you leap and oddly enough about numbers. Where did that get her? How about half way across the world without the price of a ticket home, considering working in a brothel? What will she do when her twin and her mother need her back in Montana?

Mitch Bannister knows he just escaped the noose, or rather the short witchy ball and chain his ex was, the problem? She’s marrying his best friend and he’s the best man. What is he to do, show up without a date? Find some one and beg?

Fate has a funny way of bringing together those who need to be and when by chance Scarlett and Mitch meet it’s sure to be one heck of a ride with many many miles. What will happen in the end? Will it be happiness or half a world apart?

Ms. Morey has lead her readers all over the world in this story. Not to mention allowing the readers to really watch Scarlett grow up and come into her own. The story flows so well and really my only complaint is the lack of length, but for a novella this is a great quick read full of wit, passion and learning that yes love hits when it makes no sense.

Scarlett Buck has spent her life acting first, thinking later. This time she spends all her money on a wedding dress and a one-way ticket to Australia. When that doesn't work out, she is stuck in Australia with no money and no way home. Then her responsible twin sister calls with the news her mother is sick and she is desperate to get home. Luckily, her next impetuous decision brings her face-to-face with Mitch Bannister. Mitch ended things with his girlfriend, only to have his best friend end up engaged to her...and ask Mitch to be his Best Man. Mitch is intrigued with Scarlett and makes a proposal that will benefit both of them. On the way to the wedding, it's fun to watch both their romance and friendship grow. Scarlett vows to change her ways on get her life on track, and as he gets to know her, Mitch gives her ideas on a career path.
Second Chance Bride by Trish Morey is the second novella in Montana Born's Bride series. It is a fun novella to read and an excellent addition to the series and the imprint. The characters are well developed and the story draws you in. My only complaint is that it ended too soon, I hated leaving the characters behind!

Second Chance Bride by Trish Morey is a fun read. I enjoyed it immensely. It starts with down on her luck, Scarlet Buck. She left her home in Montana to be with the love of her life whom she met on the computer. Lo and behold when she arrives there her soulmate is already married with a very pregnant wife and 2 small children. To gain air fare home she needs a job. She tries out with Bella's Babes a legal brotherly. Her first John she was expecting an older middle aged man with a paunch and cheating on his wife. She never expected to meet a heart throb. Scarlet backs out not being able to go thru with it. Of course she gets fired. In her street clothes she meets him again. His name is Mitch Banbridge, wan Australian miner. Mitch offer her a proposition and he'll pay her way home. He wants Scarlet to be his date for a wedding. She must appear to have known him a while. His best friend, Robbo (Robert) is marrying his ex girlfriend. Her name is Kristelle and she's a real hitch. He would have said no to Robbo if he knew his fiancee was Kristelle. Read more to see what happens at the wedding.

Second Chance Bride is a fun, short read. Scarlett travels to Australia planning to marry one guy, but ends up finding another guy. Mitch is not looking for love. He wants a good time with no strings. They are instantly attracted to one another. Trish Morey writes with a style that kept me glued til I reached the end of the book. This is the second book in the bride series. I can't wait to read the next book. I will definitely be reading more books by Trish Morey.

Second Chance Bride is a funny and flirty romance. Mitch Bannister is an Alpha hero with a big heart. He helps Scarlett Buck who is stranded in Australia get back home to Marietta Montana. It's the way that he does it that had me smiling. From their first unusual meeting (in a brothel) to the romantic conclusion, you could tell that this couple was special. Talk about sparks flying. I love their romance and chocked up at their HEA. This book is the perfect way to brighten your day.

I fell in love with Second Chance Bride and read it in one sitting...yes, it's just that good! When down-on-her-luck Scarlett gets stranded Down Under after a failed online romance, in desperation she decides to take a job that no "good girl" would take! Second Chance Bride is a great read and keeps you cheering for Scarlett to have a happy ending.
Scarlett has a twin named Tara whom she can never compare to. One day her Mom gets sick and she needs money to travel home to help take care of her Mom. In order to make a quick dollar so she can get home ASAP, she gets a job at Bella's Belles. She is not proud to have had to get a job there but to Scarlett, it is just sex. But, when she is given her first "job" with a hot guy named Mitch, she cannot go through with it and quits.
She then begs for a job at a local pub and who does she meet there - Mitch. Mitch needs a helping hand and she needs a helping hand. They decide to join forces and each have their needs met. What they don't think will happen, happens.
Do they end up falling for each other? Can they not stand each other? Read Second Chance Bride to find out. It will not dissappoint.

I'm afraid this one didn't set me on fire. It was OK but felt a bit shallow. I think the problem was that I really didn't warm hugely to either Mitch or Scarlett. I suspect it might appeal quite well to a younger audience than me. Readers in their late teens to early twenties might relate better. I had a bit of a problem with expressions like "asshat", and "buckadoodledoo". Actually both words made me cringe when they appeared. I also didn't feel entirely convinced by the dialogue. Nothing special, but Scarlett just didn't sound American to me.
Sorry ... Just feeling a bit tepid about this book, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I feel sure there are plenty of readers out there who will enjoy what is essentially a light hearted book. Don't take it too seriously and I'm sure you'll find plenty to enjoy.
