Duncan James needs a wife and an heir in order to complete his revenge. He’s spent too long waiting to get what he wants to stop now. Tess Williams provides the perfect chance for him to get what he wants. She makes him ache unlike any other woman.
Tess needs to make sure her father doesn’t go to prison. Duncan makes a bargain. He’ll make sure her father doesn’t got to jail if she agrees to marry him. With no other choice, Tess agrees.
However, Duncan has a plan. He’ll make Tess fall in love with him so he can get everything he wants. He doesn’t do love or commitment.
He doesn’t plan to fall in love, but fall in love he does. What will happen when Tess learns the truth? Will her love be enough to face the truth or will his revenge be enough to keep him warm at night?
Sam Crescent is passionate about fiction. She loves a good erotic romance and so it only made sense for her to spread her wings and start writing. She began writing in 2009 and finally got that first acceptance in 2011 by Total-E-Bound. She loved creating new characters and delving into the worlds that she creates. When she’s not panicking about a story or arguing with a character, she can be found in her kitchen creating all kinds of havoc. Like her stories the creations in the kitchen can be just as dubious but sometimes things turn out great.
So, my review will be short and simple because this story is really....ordinary.
It's about a billionaire who made a deal with a librarian. He wants the heroin to marry him, to get a revenge to his stepmother and dead father. So, he chose the young librarian who he met when she went to his office to beg him to forgive her father because he stole money from the handsome billionaire. He made a bargain with her which is, she'd marry him and he won't press charges to her father. And so, they got married 2 weeks later. During their marriage, the heroin changes something in him and made him feel something that he doesn't want to feel, which is the usual.LOVE. Despite, the fact that he don't want to feel love he tried really hard to make the heroin to fall in love with him. And the rest is history. Oh and the billionaire is 40 years old and the librarian is 23 years old...say whaaaat? okay, that was a huge age gap.
Yeah, same old same old for a billionaire romance. Eventhough, it's cliche and lot of pet peeves that I really hate but I'm still loving this BECAUSE I STILL BELIEVE IN CINDERELLA FAIRYTALE and hope that one day I will find my own prince...mwahahah! *cough* not that I'm a gold digger though *cough*
This book is very very tame by Sam Crescents usual f@&$fest. In this story (yes there is a story and not just an excuse to have not stop sex here) we have a very jaded 40 year old middle aged man who has never been in love and enjoys lots of women without a care in the world as to who he is hurting. The heroine a shy 23 year old librarian virgin who comes into the hero's office to pled her father case, as he stole money from the hero. The Hero tells her she must marry him or daddy dearest goes to jail. What's a poor naive girl to do but say yes. Now of course this is a total rip off of a harlequin presents-Lynne Graham style book with the hero acting like a jerk and not wanting to admit he was wrong or his feelings. Highly enjoyable and it's got that old school feel to it as well. Ok did I want the heroine to get pissed and tell him off... YES! But since everything he did was for her, I could not really get mad at him here. He is one very messed up dude and thank the lord he sees the light. *Safety here is in question because he is totally faithful to her since they met however he did plan on keeping a slut on the side but that idea went south fast as he got to know the heroine. Also before the heroine he always used condoms, they wanted kids so no protection. So I guess for me it's safe. Why not 5 stars well it's because too many loose ends and I wanted some closure with the step mom and real mom.
Duncan James needs a wife, while he has a healthy love for women they usually are in the form of vapid models who he just can't see himself marrying let alone letting one of them carry his heir. Terms of his fathers will require it and it is all part of the revenge he plans on the woman who broke up his parents marriage.
Tess Williams has been sent to Duncan to try to come to some type of arrangement to keep her father out of jail. Tess doesn't know why she bothers, her father treats her with such disdain but he is her father after all. Duncan sees a solution to his problem in Tess, but Tess thinks the marriage is just in name only. Duncan plans to seduce Tess but never expects to fall for his wife. She is lovely and Duncan begins to question his decisions and the overall outcome to his wife.
Quite bit different for a Sam Crescent book. I liked this a lot, Duncan is a jerk for sure but you understand why from the get go. Had a couple of surprises along the way.
Duncan's estranged father has died, to gain his inheritance he must marry and produce a child within a set time period. Tess comes to see Duncan to plead her father's case, he has stolen a large amount of money from Duncan, and Tess doesn't want him to go to jail. Duncan presses Tess into marrying him to fulfil the terms of his fathers will.
A rather cliched and predictable tale from this author, in fact I'm sure she's written an almost the exact same story before. Only the characters had different names. But overall it's a fairly quick enjoyable read. I do like this authors work.
Duncan James is furious. His father is controlling him even from the grave. His will states that Duncan is required to marry to get his inheritance, and produce a child for the second part. So when Tess Williams walks into his office to plead for Duncan to not press charges against her father for stealing from his company, Duncan decides that she just might be the answer to his terrible dilemma. Tess can't believe that she has to go begging to some big company exec to try and save her father from going to jail. He doesn't care one bit about her but he is still her dad and she can't let him go to jail. But can she really take this mans offer. They marry, and her fathers debt goes away. No marriage and he goes to jail. Marriage in the form of blackmail.
Review: I enjoyed this book a lot. The characters are fun and exciting. The story of these two characters is so sweet. I love to read the changes that Duncan goes through. He is the one blackmailing Tess but he hopes that he can win her heart and she can be his forever. Tess seems down to earth and makes the best of the situation throughout the book. A good, strong woman. And there are plenty of sexy scenes in here too. I know you will all enjoy this book.
4.5 stars. Another great book from Sam Crescent. Duncan hardcore Alpha Male with arrogance on his persona that whatever he touches he claims. Although the sooner he met Tess his life was in a tornado of emotions. He wanted her, he wanted to posses her but at the same time, his revenge was his key for success in his life. But what a great turnaround Duncan did to Love his Wife (Tess); How the love of a woman has entail him to be better for her. Tess only wanted someone to love her; She didn't want to be alone. She was a lonely woman not having no one near her to encourage her or to want to be embrace by her. But by saving her father, she did finally got what she deserved. Bravo to the author, please continue on the strive of these books. Love the idea of a man who is very Alpha-Male and the age does not matter at all. Great reading.
I'm not sure how to write a review for this one. The story is ok, fairly typical old school harlequin type romance but with hotter sex scenes. I just found that detail errors annoyed me a bit too much. I can be picky like that. For example, she apparently does not like "alcohol" but she helped make hot chocolate with rum in it and happily drank it, she had a glass of champagne that she was drinking at their marriage after party and after dinner one night he poured her a glass of brandy, which she drank. Now it could have just been my state of mind when I was reading this story but details like that being kind of messed up can really mess with my enjoyment of a story, sometimes a lot, sometimes a little. This happened to annoy me a lot.
I won this as a Goodreads reader. I love Sam Crescent. That said, this was a formulaic, predictable disappointment. The premise was good, the sex scenes right up there with her usual....just too many grammatical and proofreading errors, too loose, too predictable...It read like the directions to get somewhere: first you do this, then that, then this.....I could never connect emotionally to the characters. Oy ~ I'm sure the next Sam Crescent will be better.
Could have been much better.. good story.. clumsy pace.. some confusing sentences and a more all-over-the-place characters :(... loved the idea, but the execution.. well, just not there.
How can one start a healthy relationship based on a lie? Or worse based on revenge? For Duncan James complying with his father's will becomes the basis to a business contract with Tess William. The librarian wants nothing more than to help her troubled father out of jail and she will agree to anything to accomplish that, even marry the handsome yet rude and ruthless businessman she just met. Unfortunately for her, his intentions are less than honorable and he doesn't play fair. As for him, fate isn't fair either as he falls for her just as hard and quickly as she does for him. And when the truth about his father, his mother and the man he became in the process of seeking his revenge comes out, he can only hope Tess will stand by him and not take away the only happiness he has ever known. I enjoyed the story and the closeness that Tess and Duncan explored during their relationship, the discovery and exploration of their feelings and even the lack of dwelling and lengthy struggling of wills was refreshing. I look forward to reading other Sam Crescent books, as his sexy tale was surely entertaining and fun to read.
ummm.I don't know.I can't decide whether I like it or its simply Okay.guess ill go with simply okay.
1st up the plot ain't new.its been there read that kind of a book so I knew what to expect when I went into it. thought it would mature out n become a good read but its turned out oky. the hero is a dick to start with n then he turns a leaf. but that whole journey of turning over could have been So much more which it's not. the heroine is like I feel locked up.her personality I feel is unclear and I can't draw a mental image of her in my head.
its sweet that they fall in love eventually but that build up,the situations and circumstances could use some drama and I don't mean the ex lover popping n trying to be a bitch which is a given in any mills n boon kinda plot.
I actually felt like I was reading a mills n boon ;)
sorry sam if I sound rude but I truthfully expected something more n its my expectation that's let me down. I also feel like this book was rushed through.it could use some patience but it didn't seem to hve that.
He left her to take a long relaxing bath while he finished up the stew Grace had made. The scents were wonderful. Tess came down the stairs wearing a beautiful red dress. Her tummy was still nicely rounded. He loved her curves and wouldn’t change a thing about her. She was his woman, and he loved her no matter what. Together they went to the stars. Their arms wrapped around each other. They were protected and in love. Duncan held her in his arms, carrying her up to his bed where he loved her until the sun came up.
I have enjoyed this book. Tess is not a small women, I would assume she is a voluptuous women and she is beautiful but does not feel it because of her size. Duncan blackmails her into marriage, eventually falling in love with her and her with him. ( It is good to read a story of a normal size women. Not some beautiful twig. See normal sized women can have the romance as well ) ;)
This is the first book of this year and I can't even say that I was satisfied. Hm... not what I have imagine to begin the year. This book was good, really. Quite long story, not like SC's book lately, but hello, this book was published in 2012. I prefer SC's books now. Lot hotter and so many hot scenes. This book, even good one, but it wasn't you know, memorable. Not the book you like to re-read again. Yeah, so basically, I was disappointed with this book as my beginning of reading chains of the year 2017, but what can I say? I finished it obviously! I just hope that my next and next books will be better than this one.
3.5 Rating... ...The idea for the story is great, but the execution is lacking, which has become Sam Crescent’s trademark. This story has too much detail, down to telling you how to feel, leaving nothing to the imagination and making it hard to perceive the characters as real people with their own emotions.....
If you can get past the grammar, flow, and too much details issues then it’s a great story.
Nothing outstanding in the story, honestly I felt like I've read the same one many times before. That isn't why you get a book from this authour though, it is because of the smexy scenes and they delivered quite well
I love this book!! This is a book that you will constantly reread. Sam Crescent has a talent for creating characters that you fall in love with!! This is a must read!
An unconventional start to their marriage. Duncan realized that Tess wasn't like the other women he saw. This was a good story and it had some twists and Duncan finally realized things and changed for the better. Tess was such a quiet person that it took her a little while to open up.
Cute simple inbetween-book, Sam Crescent does billionaires book pretty well. It would have been better with a little more angst and hurt, I love a H who will grovel for his woman. And this was lacking. Still smutty and cute enough to read.
Meh....pretty repetitive narration from H about his intentions towards h. It seemed like I was waiting forever for the fallout from H' s deception and then when it happens it glossed over and resolved extremely fast.
Scorching HOT~ If you need an escape from reality or just some time away from the doldrums, then look to Sam Crescent cuz she brings the HEA's to our Fantasies with all the HEAT & feels we need in our True RoMANce!
Awwe, this novel was very heartwarming, as you got into it. It most certainly didn't start off as well as anyone would like but it improved greatly and made me fall in love with it, as time went on.
A good story not too steamy until the end. For some reason it dragged on a bit in the middle. But overall I really enjoyed it. I will definitely check out more books from this author!
