Laura Black Mysteries #2

Scottsdale Squeeze

Rate this book
"Laura Black and her Scottsdale friends are back on the case and trouble is sure to follow!"

In this thrilling romantic mystery, Laura Black is an investigator for the highly successful but slightly shady Scottsdale lawyer, Lenny Shapiro. This time, she’s tracking down a wealthy Scottsdale cougar named Jacky Wade, who’s been missing for a week and her clueless boyfriend, Terry Lennox, is getting desperate. But even after Laura manages to find Jacky, it seems that the trouble is only beginning. First is the death threat. Next there’s the murder. Finally there’s the kidnapping. Laura’s best friend Sophie and fellow investigator Gina Rondinelli help with the hunt while Laura enlists a group of man-hungry cougars to search the nightclubs of Scottsdale. Unfortunately, this all leads Laura into the arms of Carlos the Butcher, a guy with some serious anger issues.

If this wasn’t enough to keep her busy, Laura’s next door neighbor, Grandma Peckham, is on the prowl for a new boyfriend and she’s in serious need of Laura’s dating advice. All of this might even be manageable if it wasn’t for the fact that Laura is also trying to start a real relationship with plainclothes cop Jack Reno. The only problem there is that she is also having romantic thoughts about the gorgeous and dangerous crime lieutenant, Maximillian.
With equal parts humor, action, and mystery, Scottsdale Squeeze is the perfect light, fast, and fun summer novel.

I'm thrilled to announce that Kristy Piper, our favorite Scottsdale wedding planner, has taken up residence in Aloha Lagoon! After the crazy events of Scottsdale Silence, Kristy has finally achieved her lifelong dream of moving to paradise. She took a job in Hawaii as the Aloha Lagoon resort wedding planner on the gorgeous island of Kauai. Sun, surf, sandy beaches, and glowing brides...what could possibly go wrong?

Turns out, everything.

Want to know more? Check out Hula Homicide, the latest book in the Aloha Lagoon Mystery Series. This series is written by several bestselling authors, including Leslie Langtry, Beth Prentice, and Cathern Bruns. Each is a complete stand-alone novel, or you can read them one after the other.

As for me, halfway through a successful career in technical writing, marketing, and sales, along with having four beautiful children, I veered into fiction. For The Scottsdale Series, I tried to combine my love of the desert, derived from sixteen years of living in Arizona, with my appreciation of the modern romantic detective story. I hope you like the results!

Thanks to all for the great comments and questions. As always, I'd love to hear from you.

This book reminded me a lot of the Stephanie Plum Series. It was a lot of fun but just like the Plum Series is definitely geared for a more mature crowd with the language and content. That being said I actually think this was a bit cleaner in some ways. If you like this genre then you'll love this book and series, it's steamy, funny and has enough twists to keep you into the story even though you know about halfway through who the bad guy is. The narrator does a phenomenal job with the acting, voices and story telling... She was a lot of fun to listen to.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Great Read!

Second book as great as first. Loved the first so much I didn't breath before starting the Second. Fun characters, enough action and interesting and sometimes zany its fun and exciting. Didn't want to put either down. I'm starting book 3 in the series. Wish I could have a margarita with all the girls and its nice to find out someone else obsessed with diet Pepsi lol! Must read for anyone with a sense of humor and love of mystery!

Great Mystery, with a lot of interesting characters.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. There are a lot of great characters, especially Laura, the cougars and pumas. There were a lot of funny moments as well as action and suspense. This book is well written and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good mystery.

Fantastic read

If you could choose between a hot and sexy bad boy, lieutenant for the mob, or a HOT and sexy cop for a boyfriend which would you choose? Laura Black has to decide, but as an investigator for a law firm she's also getting shot at, kidnapped, or ....

New Author to me

And I’m enjoying the heck out of this series. The author has a down to earth yet sassy and fun style I really enjoy. The characters are well developed and believable with one or two quirky folks thrown in to keep it interesting-and it is! Bravo!

To say this book held my attention would be a lie. Several times I found myself checking progress and hoping to be near completion. I had high hopes for the series but sadly I am disappointed: Not sure I am going to continue with Laura Black Mysteries.

Interesting cast.

Pretty interesting group of women, a look at their life styles, friends and enemies. Centered around luxury resorts of Scottsdale, this may be the only look some of us ever get of the playgrounds of the rich and famous.

Spine Tingling!

Scottsdale Squeeze is another thrilling novel in the Laura Black series. I liked the camaraderie, (chuckle, attitude) of the cougars, pumas, Sophie, Laura, and Gina. It’s always exciting when a book has a kick *ss heroine.

VACATION TIME!!!

This book has it. The suspense in the last was a little flat, but this book has remanded that problem.

All her books are entertaining and a fast read. The characters are real and believable with the same flaws and uncertainties of us all. She also makes you laugh at times. Very easy to read and enjoy.

Cute, love the main characters, although they as obsessed with sex as a teenage boy!
These haven't made me actually laugh, but they do provide a lot of smiles and action.

Not quite as good as the first book in the series but still decent. The main character hemming and haaing over the 2 guys in storyline is starting to get old though. Still looking forward to book 3

This series gets both a thumbs up and an eye roll. Let me explain. If you like the Stephanie Plum series by Evanovich, you’ll probably like the Laura Black series. If you love the Stephanie Plum series, this series may annoy you. Sooo many similarities. On again off again cop boyfriend, hot bad boy lust interest, goofy side kick, even a kookie grandma next door. The mysteries are good. The similarities are annoying.

I was looking forward to reading this book, but it sadly didn't live up to my expectations. I could have done without some of the language and the steam. It was basically well-written but just not for me.

Laura has been asked by Lenny to locate Jacky Wade. Her boyfriend Lenny wants to find her and apologize and see if they can get back together. Once Laura locates her things start to get crazy. Jacky's ex-husband (not officially) gets murdered in her house and now she is the prime suspect. But before Laura can help prove her innocence Jacky is taken and held hostage. Laura has to turn to Max and his "shady" employer for help.

There is also more story about Reno (detective) and Laura's relationship and her fighting her attraction to Max (not so bad BAD guy) in this book. I personally am a Max fan all the way. Good read, fast paced, and keeps you wanting more. Can't wait for the third book in this series.

Great read!

I chose this rating because it's an entertaining mystery. I've now read the first and I just finished the second book. No, there are no cliffhangers in this series I just really want to read the next book because I enjoy the series and I want to know what will happen to Laura Black next. She's an investigator for a lawyer and if she's not finding dead bodies she's out with her friends partying in her home town of Scottsdale, Arizona. I recommend this book to anyone who likes great sex ( not explicit ) it's more implied. A great mystery tied with mobsters, cops and bad guys and lots of running around. Good stuff! Well, I enjoyed the heck out of this series so far and am looking forward to the third book which I'm going to buy right now! ENJOY!

Another great book about Laura Black, law firm investigator. This one took her all over the place to find a client accused of murder who was kidnapped. She chatted with crime boss, Tony, and still was trying to resist her feelings for right hand man Max. Plus, she still was working on her relationship with maybe boyfriend Reno. Can't wait to read about what will happen next. I really am all for her and Max getting together.
