Why do I let Booktok convince me to read stupid books??!
This just wasn’t good. I’m all for smutty books even when there isn’t much plot, but at least keep the story simple. Trying to kill someone one minute and getting naked the other. Over and over again. Decapitated parents. Breakdowns. More sex. No. So much no.

For this to be Elle’s second book,BLEW ME OUT THE WATER!!!! She is GOOOOD! This book was FCKING AMAZING! Like the ending and all the secrets unraveled will have your mind BLOWN! Leni and Silas are my new faves, their banter. Two strong MC’s! Silas’s mouth too, he’s freaky YUMMY! Action packed for sure! Also came back to say the position that Silas had Leni in. UMMM YES PLS

UNPUTDOWNABLE, SEXY AND EXCITING
I still can’t believe that “Severed by Vengeance” was Elle’s debut novel (such an amazing book!) and the second book in her Severed Signet series, “Tempted by Blood”, did not disappoint!
I devoured this book (read it in less than a day). I immediately became obsessed with Silas and Leni’s chemistry! I am a sucker for a bad ass, strong MFC and Leni did not fall short. Also, love a good “he falls first” trope, Silas would burn the world down for her. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the evolution of Leni and Silas’ relationship throughout the book and the spice was PERFECT and very exciting. Hot and steamy!🥵
The storyline was exciting and had me on the edge of my seat on more than one occasion. Lots of twists and turns and unexpected events that occurred! I love when a book has a shock factor, things that happen that you weren’t expecting - loved this! The twist towards the end was wild! 🫣
Elle’s writing is nothing short of incredible. She gives just the right amount of details without going overboard. She writes in a way that is easy to read and very clear to understand.
Absolutely enjoyed reading this book and is 100% a MUST READ from me!

leni and silas are THAT COUPLE, they’re hot, flirty, and everything i could’ve hoped for!! like i loved derek and eva so much don’t get me wrong, but silas and leni’s story was simply outstanding.
leni and silas both respectively get paid to carry out hits on people. when leni receives a hit on silas, her world turns upside down as for the first time in her life, she struggles with making the kill.
silas hayes is charismatic and flirty, and could care less that leni wants to kill him… he still wants her to become his. throughout the story, the pair grapples with people out to kill them… and this brings them closer to one another.
the two of them are very sexual there's no doubt about that, but they also have such perfect chemistry with one another, and they have their wholesome moments too which i loved so much. their bonding over time, learning each other's stories and helping each other through everything was so precious to me <3
and that ENDING AND EPILOGUE??? OMG.
also, so excited for kai's book next!! 😌

I was anticipating this book for a couple months and it DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!
Silas and Leni are such a hot couple wow. It was like Mr. and Mrs. Smith with so much more spice🌶️. Derek Cain will always have a special place in my heart, but the dirty mouth on Silas was AMAZING. Also to have a FMC reciprocate the same dirty words made them the perfect pair.
I would definitely recommend this book for my dark romance, spicy, mafia, enemies-to-lovers readers!🥵 (Please read trigger warnings prior to reading because of sensitive topics)

This was so terrible I had to write a review. Trusted booktok , supposedly enemies to lovers, well that lasted around 10 pages. No plot, just running around killing people then very weak sex scenes. I kept reading because it has a great score on here but oh my lord it’s the worst book I’ve read in a while.

Ahhhhh THAT ENDING! THAT EPILOGUE!
I love Elle Maldonado's dark romances. This is the second book in her series and I've been so fortunate to have received an ARC for the first one and this one. I'm sucked into her world and I'm never going back.
The banter, the thrill, the violence. This book was phenomenal. I highly recommend if you're comfortable with the triggers to grab this book. Once you open it, you won't be able to stop reading. 😍🔪

I was hired to fulfil a contract. He was just meant to be another name. I'm now tied and if I don't meet the contract terms I'll be next.
This was giving Mr and Mrs Smith vibes and I loved it. Plot, storyline and characters. I like how we felt the tension between the characters which led to a filthy good time. Silas lost his memory 16 years ago and has no recollection of past family members but has built up walls and been in the criminal underworld for a long time. Leni has no other life and is a ruthless strong FMC. I liked how together they opened up. Leni struggled at first but she has been through a lot. The spice was illegal. When this fictional man said CRAWL I folded at the knees.
Enjoyed this read just felt it was a little fast-paced but overall a good time.

I was hooked from the beginning until everythjng became redundant. I mean, on repeat there was:
Nipple piercing, tit, “Love”, crying after s*x , fight, love making, crying some more etc 🌪️
For a couple of bad ass assassins Silias made a ton of stupid decisions and Leni cried A LOT! ‘Miss Girl needs Kleenex instead of a 🔫.
I’ve never hated the term “love” as much as I do now that I have read this book. WE GET IT , he’s British!!! My GOD!
The plot was alright besides there being so many different characters , I felt so lost majority of the time. I just am shocked that Silias would go on a mission without telling Leni!! When it INVOLVES herrr revenge plan!? She’s clearly capable since she’s this “bad ass” yet heeeee decides for her !?! To GO ALONE and take on the bad guy? And then when said bad guy is alone, he watches him from a far but decides to infiltrate in mandems home ??! Yo, that’s just DUMB!
Anyways tik tok /book tok can suck it with the recommendation :”Mr and Mrs Smith MY ARSE”

Yall....I can't even fantom how to tell you how much I loved this book.
I knew from the first book that this couple was going to be insane and fire and BEST BELIEVE IT WAS!!!
Silas...I knew I loved him the first book he was going to make me melt and he surely didn't disappoint. That man is smexx on a stick and I am here for all of it.
Leni....I want ti be like her when I grow up because my lord she is amazing.
Both of these characters are magic and I adore them so much.

This book was utter chaos in the sexiest way. Elle wasn’t lying, it def moves faster than book one, and I was hooked from page one. Derek still has my heart, but I wont lie… I need a man who’ll throw me around like Silas does. The chemistry? Absolutely feral. I spent the whole time wondering if they were going to rip each other’s clothes off or slit each other’s throats.. maybe both??
Silas was temptation in its purest, most dangerous form and our boy was starving for her, obsessed in every scene. And Leni? A lethal weapon. Her wild, unhinged energy matched him so perfectly, it was so much fun to watch them spiral. They’re fire and gasoline, and watching them burn together was Intoxicating.
I loved seeing both of them open up emotionally too. She especially deserved that softness. But that ending?? No. I was not prepared. It’s like the book pulled a knife, smiled when twisting it, and walked away. My brain is still trying to process what just happened.

This book is !!!! Ugh I am tingly all over after this book. If you haven’t read Severed By Vengence then you need to get on it so you can get to this book now! I loved the first one and this was no different. When Leni is assigned to assassinate Silas, she fails because she hesitates - little did she know the soft spot that would consume the both of them and have them in for the ride of their lives. The passionate and feisty nature of their lives has them coming together for a simple goal and I loved the connections to the first book. I always knew I hated Ronan Cain…. I cannot wait for the third book, I already know there will be another because if there isn’t I will riot.

This. Fucking. Book. There’s zero way this is Elle’s second book ever. It is perfection. I am OBSESSED. Let me recount the ways I loved this book.
1. Leni. Leni is my new favorite FMC. She is confident, strong, vulnerable, absolutely unhinged, stabby and highkey dramatic. Just don’t call her crazy. Best part? She doesn’t change just bc she falls in love.
2. Silas. This man can break my back. The way he fell first and so hard for my girl Leni… his protectiveness and jealousy 🤭 How he let her be Leni and gave her a soft place to land.
3. The action. This read like a freaking action movie. If you liked “Mr. and Mrs. Smith”, this one is for you. So much blood. So much killing. So much fun. I was on the edge of my seat.
4. The banter, tension and spice. Good LORDT these two have some of the best chemistry I’ve ever read. Leni is unhinged and her constant trying to kill him is just a vibe lol They are explosive together. Blood kink, knife play, breath play and 🍑
5. THE TWIST. Nicole and I were deader than dead when the big reveal happens. Didn’t see that coming!
I had 85 highlights you guys. Many many thanks to Elle for allowing me to bother her while I was reading and also for helping me wait for book 3 and 4.
If Rina Kent and Brynne Weaver had a book baby… it would be this book. It can be read as a standalone BUT your experience will be severely enhanced by reading Severed by Vengeance (scroll back a few posts down my review) first then this one.

when the fmc was first introduced in the previous book as a psychiatrist and later uncovered to be a hitwoman liken to harley quinn i was immediately obsessed. i couldn’t have imagined that she would turn out to be one of my all time favorite female characters. i don’t think i’ve ever read a more broken badass ever. she was morally black, not even gray. whenever she broke down and then switched her emotions off i was equally in awe and aching for her. this story was a love letter to women, not only powerful women but scarred little girls. and the way her man loved her, worshipped the ground she walked on, but most of all supported and anchored all her demons. it was love at first murder attempt. the more she tried to kill him the harder he fell. that’s one of the best microtropes. and this book did it to utter perfection. not to mention that the smut in this was downright nasty in the best way possible. i need more blood play and fighting as foreplay in books.

this is the second book in the series 💙 to say i’m obsessed is an understatement !! dark romance, hit woman x man on the run, fast paced, plot twists, secrets, morally black, mr. and mrs. smith vibes, filthy and smutty.
when leni was introduced as a psychiatrist in book one i immediately fell in love with her omg !! to get more about her other job as a hitwoman was EVERYTHING !! she’s such a badass bitch and feisty as hell 🔥 i literally didn’t know if i want to be her or with her 😩 the way she can switch her emotions on and off is something i just related to. but when she finally breaks down, oh i just wanted to hold her and cry with her. she gives such morally black character vibes but also super caring for those close to her. she’s complicated but knows what she wants. that is until silas becomes her next target and now she’s stuck on killing him or running with him. and silas … SILAS. SILAS. SILAS. 🧎🏻♀️ good lord this man ! he is filthy, he is down bad, and he is so damn fine. the way silas was immediately entranced by leni actually had me by the fucking THROAT !! he literally supported her in everything. he quite literally kissed the damn ground leni walked on 🤩 the words coming out of his fucking mouth actually had me gripping the damn sheets and left me pulsing in 4 places.
although this can be read as a standalone i highly recommend reading book one too !! you just get a bigger idea of the plot and the other characters mentioned.

Helena being the best at what she does has never missed a mark, never waver, never falter until him Silas Hayes . The one mark she couldn’t take out . The one man she will kneel for .
If Ever perfection was to materialize it will be this book , the story was soo good i couldn’t put it down, i practically eat that shit up, their is not a single page that will bore you, hook line and sinker from the first chapter. And that plot twist i never saw coming and i was soo damn happy it came up .
The banter, angst, tension, 🫠🫠. Silas and leni were the perfect duo the high this book gave me was soo unreal and with characters yo die for .

This book was insane! The action! The bad ass FMC!!!! The spice!!! It was SO good. The way it starts off spicy and action packed, really pulls you in and makes it so you can’t put it down.
Leni is amazing, I love that she does not need a single person to help her do things. A strong independent woman!!!! Silas was also amazing, the way he cared for her, even when they were “enemies.” Loved this so much, and can’t wait for the next one!!!
AND DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE PLOT TWIST AT THE END. MY MIND IS BLOWN. Add this to your TBR, right now!!!!!!

Tempted by Blood is the second in The Severed Signet series by Elle Maldonado ( sequel to Severed by Vengeance. There is no second/ middle book slump here. Silas and Leni are the main characters in this spicy, enemies to lovers, dark romance. They trult have their own story. It is sexy, violent, and full of action and anticipation. Read the trigger warnings please if you are not ok with violence. The way the story unfolded and ended had me absolutely stunned. I don't think this would be as enjoyable as a stand alone, you really need the first book to appreciate all of the plot twist and the ending. I can not wait to continue to see what Maldonado does next with the series. The fact that this is her second book absolutely blows my mind. She is definitely an author to keep on your radar.

Give me two characters that want to kill each other just as much as they want to fúck each other and I will eat that shit up. And this book served that in 𝘴𝘱𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘴 🔥
Leni is contracted to take Silas out (isn’t this how every love story starts?) but he definitely doesn’t make it easy for her. Plus his charm and his cóck are both extremely distracting, let’s be honest.
Elle is one of my faves because the way she writes makes it impossible to put the book down. I don’t know what she put in this but I would like some more please.
Silas is a hunk, don’t get me wrong. He’s a lethal man with an even more lethal tongue 👀
But the star of this book for me? Leni. I want to be her when I grow up. Everything that comes out of this woman’s mouth is pure gold. She’s witty, funny, fierce, defiant, captivating and everything in between.

This book is so good! This enemies to lovers will have you sitting at the edge of your seat with all of the tension and spice. I absolutely loved Leni and Silas and their complicated relationship. Leni is a total badass.
