You say succubus, Bubba says suck-a-bus. tomaytoe / tamahtoe
Cecil and Bubba do odd jobs for money. Not the kind of odd jobs that we think about when we hear that phrase, but literally - ODD jobs. They like to gamble, drink, and hunt tail, so no matter how many odd jobs they do - they never have enough money. The boys got into some big trouble last week when they accidentally ran over the dog of a gypsy named Rosalita Parez. She cursed the boys on the spot. Bubba remembered the words that she spoke - "doomed to be plagued by strange and evil until the end of their days". The phrase kept repeating itself in his mind, even during the latest odd job that Cecil & Bubba were hired to do by Conrad Woods. Whether it was the power of a succubus, or the power of the curse, Bubba Teague and Cecil McGee learned that these evil forces are not things that they want to mess with... especially this close to Halloween. The dark humor had me cracking up - I'm really excited to read the ongoing adventures of Cecil & Bubba!
Cecil & Bubba find more than they bargained for on the night before Halloween (Devil's Night, Cabbage Night, or whatever your brought up calling it). The characters were well fleshed out, the storyline was well thought through and well written, there were even a few occasions that I laughed. Added as a surprise bonus, you will find a nice Short Story included as well titled "Cecil & Bubba meet Santa Claus."
I had originally purchased this short story as an accident while reviewing other books Terry has written, however as I was familiar with and own several of Terry's other books, I decided to give it a read and I'm Glad that I did, it's definitely worth keeping and I can't recommend it enough, it's definitely a keeper.
Bubba is a bouncer at a topless bar. He and Cecil are hire to investigate a haunted house. They are at the house the three of them when the succubus shows up. Then things go from bad 👎 to worst. The man 🚹 who hired them is now a ghost 👻. Bubba and Cecil escape.
I would recommend this cute novella and author to 👍 readers of fantasy horror novels 👍🔰.
I took a chance on "Cecil & Bubba". Two shorts by Terry M. West with great reviews and a low promo price. Seemed like a safe investment. But you can no longer call it "taking a chance" when you realize that you've just been missing the boat, repeatedly.
"This wasn't the weirdest thing they have ever done for cash, but it was up there high on the list."
Thus begins "Cecil & Bubba Meet a Succubus" a quick jaunt with two redneck slacker best buds carrying the burden of a curse, hired on as personal security for a professional ghost hunter during a paranormal investigation.
You'll be doing these tales a disservice if you don't read them back to back.
My sincerest apologies Mr. West. I expected cheesy redneck slapstick but what I got was a couple of solid genre tales, very entertaining, sprinkled with humor that pays service to it's main characters and not the other way around. I'm on pins and needles with anticipation for the next entry.
Cecil and Bubba are two redneck slackers. They do assorted odd jobs but now have the oddest one of all. They take a job to guard a haunted house on Halloween, just after being cursed by a gypsy. Nothing could go wrong, right?
"...we sure as hell won’t do it for a Scooby snack... She’s a suck a bus...”
“Cecil & Bubba meet a Succubus: A Short Horror/Comedy Tale” by Terry M. West gets 3.5 (rounded up to4) out of 5 stars!
This was a quick hoot and felt like the boys were a cross between “Tucker and Dale vs Evil” and “Moonshiners.” They love fast and fo dumb stuff to make ends meet.
They get themselves caught up in some backwoods ghost hunt at a fancy property belonging to a long dead family with a dark past. They were hired by a guy named Conrad to protect him while he conjured to spirit of the family’s lady, Hattie Mae. The banter, atmosphere and “redneck” fun made this short story an entertaining read. Like most shorts, if only there was more to this story.
Succubus, Is the start of the troubles of two characters Cecil and Bubba. Cursed for running over a gypsies dog, it tells a tale of comedic horror in providing security at a haunted house investigation going wrong. You will enjoy these antics of two rednecks escaping for their lives, without acknowledging their culpability.
Terry M. West is a author, filmmaker, and actor, with rave review and awards for his works and stories.
Kobo told me it was comedy and horror. Well, unfortunately for me, it missed on both counts. It wasnt terribly written or anything, but I just found that I didnt care for either one of the characters.
I like bubba and Cecil...I know characters just like them. Lol Looking forward to seeing more of their adventures. Already bought the next story in Audible. Yay
