Rate this book
The sequel, and conclusion to 'Afterwards'.

Chris Scaife is not the man Robyn Crandall thought he was.

Now that she’s shown him the possibility of a new life, she knows that Chris wants it. And he’s used to getting what he wants. But Robyn is seeing some possibilities of her own, as a highly-valued member of the legal team at Chris’ multimillion dollar corporation.

Just as he’s given her the confidence to soar, will Chris try to clip her wings?

Once an unapologetic bachelor and distant father, Chris Scaife is now a different man. Engaged to Robyn Crandall, a woman whose love he never thought he could have—or deserve—Chris wants a wedding to happen, and happen soon. But Robyn’s plans are somewhat different from that.

When I get a book from Nia Forrester I know three things , she's going to make me smile because I love the way she writes , feel anxious I never know what direction the story will go , and cry because she makes you care for the people she writes and what they feel you feel. I loved the journey she took us on in this book all the way to Paris and back. We really got to know Chris better in this book and I'm sorry Shawn my Torch burns for Chris Scaife. The man he is in this book , the man he became was more than I ever expected form this character and I love him flaws and all. I love Robyn too she is not the all perfect woman who never makes a mistake and I love her strength and determination, she was strong even when was unsure of herself . Robyn and Chris lived separately by Robyn's choice, and her choice truly tests their relationship but the changes they go through , that is what makes this story so good.

Chris & Robin, I simply love them as a couple. Yes Chris is a gazillionaire, but these two seem like your regular everyday couple money aside. They feel like real people, and not just characters in a book. I felt like I was reading about the life of my best friend and her boyfriend. The trials that Chris and Robin go through are just so relatable. Nia Forrester has a special way of drawing you into her characters and creating a feeling of total understanding. There were times when Chris really let his emotions go, and I would just say to myself wow, this is a real man. I love how Nia would have him verbally say a line, then we could read what he was thinking in his head, and his thoughts had me laughing lots of times and saying mmmm hmmmm that's what you should have said. It was nice catching up with Riley and Shawn, and Brendan and Tracy as well. I know this is deemed as the conclusion, but I want these stories to go on because I love these characters so much....well done Nia!

I remember a time when I would pick up a book and could just read without immediately thinking "this is indie" or "who is the publisher?"… but now it stands out in just about everything I put my hands on. Quite often, many independent writers assume the role of wild child in the lit world. A place where the possibilities are endless with discipline being defined by the holder of the pen and not what's been decided in a contract. Or the extreme where rules are simply taboo. Then there are some traditionally published authors choosing to exist within the structured course set before them. Occasionally the traditional authors venture over to the other side with their self-published work, seeking a place that will allow their imaginations room to run wild and free… where their editors cannot turn their nose up or frown. And it's divided the story on the page.

Nia Forrester amazes me as a writer. As a fan of her work, I have watched a damn good writer become extraordinary. A few months ago, I declared Afterwards to be her best. That was until I read Afterburn. Afterburn left me speechless and content. It's been a long time since a book has been able to do both. I'm positive that I am not the only one feeling this way after reading this novel.

What Nia Forrester also accomplished with Afterburn was that she didn't give in to the trap authors fall into, writing a story for the reader. She made a conscious decision to tell the story. I don't think that resonated, so please let me repeat that one more time. Nia Forrester did not let ego, pleas or reader expectations guide this story's path. She did the one thing that defines what a real author is - Nia Forrester told the story.

Why is this such a big feat? Afterwards was a great love story. She took us further into the lives of Chris Scaife and Robyn Crandell and let us watch them fall for each other. Afterburn was bold enough to show the rest of that story, the real afterwards… the tests and defining moments that don't just make couples, but showcase character. Nia Forrester was not afraid to go to some very unexpected places, moments that bring out every emotion a reader probably hasn't experienced in quite some time. In Afterburn, she went there and did one heck of a job.

And that whole indie vs. traditional thing I mentioned did not occur one single time while reading Afterburn. Nia Forrester delivered a complete novel full of all the ingredients that bring out great fiction. This is what I look for when I pull out one of my classic novels, but Nia took it to present day. I didn't feel one ounce of immaturity in the author's voice (now a few of the characters… that's a different story). I didn't sense her wavering or doubt. Not once did she look over her shoulder to see what the reader could be thinking or if we could keep up. And when the heat became intense, Nia did not write drama - she authored life.

Nia Forrester is an author that the indie world must be proud of and traditional publishers should nod their appreciation. Afterburn took down the barrier between the two worlds of creative license and politics to remind the reader of what great fiction is made of. Fearless, unapologetic talent.

In the words of DJ Khaled "Another One" as in Nia has graced us with ANOTHER extremely entertaining, well written, sometimes hard to read for sheer fear of what was going to happen next, masterpiece.

I think Chris might be my new favorite. The dynamic between Robyn and Chris is so refreshing. I love that he let's her be who she wants to be and even encourages it regardless of how much he might not agree with or even approve of her whims. And I love that while Robyn is this successful powerhouse of an attorney with a strong head on her shoulders and a clear idea of her goals and what she wants out of life, she isn't ashamed of or even afraid to admit that she worships the ground Chris walks on and puts a lot of importance in his feelings and opinions on things and will do or not do something depending on his say.

And it's not because she's weak or subservient. It because she knows that Chris loves and adores her just the same. In her words, "he would unhinge the stars and the moon if she asked for them" and she knows that he would never take advantage of the power he has over her. He would never stifle her inner beast or try and clip her wings.

But boy did she push him to the point of wanting to do just that, from the very beginning of this book.

It's so crazy how quickly the tables turned between one book and the next. In Afterwards I was 100% team Robyn. But in this book, as soon as she STARTED talking all her mess, I was team Chris all the way. There were SEVERAL times while reading this book, where I was just like GIRL WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!? Nia knows how to stress me out!

I loved reading this book though. I love how all the family elements are tied in but it doesn't make the story drag. I enjoy all of the mentions of Chris and Robyn's work and actually getting to see them DO that work. Too many times in books, authors will base a large part of a characters identity and development on what they do for a living but never SHOW them doing their job. That isn't an issue in Nia's books because she consistently weaves her characters professions and work into her stories so that not only is it seamless but it also helps move the story along.

Of everything there is to love about this book though, what I enjoyed and appreciated the most, is the transformation and growth that Chris went through. Lets all be honest here. Regardless of his success, drive and determination to be the best business man in the world, Chris was a straight up FUCK BOY. When it came to relationships and especially when it came to being a father, he was NOT doing what he was supposed to. Paying an exorbitant amount of child support, does not a Dad make... But there was a sincere and authentic 180 with Chris in Afterburn and I couldn't be more proud. Watching him develop a relationship with his children and enjoy their time together. LOVED IT!

Gotta love character development!!!

Apparently Lil Chris a.k.a Deuce has his own little love story, so I'm definitely going to check that out before I continue on to the final two books in this series.

Afterburn was EVERYthing! I loved it! Now, this is how you do a sequel.

I hadn't read any of the excerpts that were posted, so I had no idea what was in store for this book. I admit, I wanted there to be sunshine and light for Robyn and Chris, but that ain't Ms. Forrester's thing (and I'm glad!). This was a journey for them, and though they both annoyed me greatly, it was a journey that they needed to take to solidify their union.

I was really surprised at Robyn's selfishness in this book. I understood (I think) her wanting to go to Paris to complete the project, but taking Caitlyn away from Chris for so long was crazy. And the whole thing with Etienne, especially the trip, had me wanting to wring her neck. That was beyond selfish and reckless. No matter she had no business spending time with him in the first place, especially after the big reveal.

And Chris, who I adore, was no sweetheart either. I know he was lonely without Robyn, but I felt he was willfully ignoring all of Karen's blatant maneuvering to get next to him and create family time (skank!). I know that women baffle him, but c'mon Chris, you're much smarter than that. I was also side-eyeing him for punishing Robyn for her indiscretion ( which I would have kept to myself), while not even thinking about admitting to what he'd done. However, when it would have been so easy to have his way and get his family back home, he put Robyn's needs before his own and helped her get back to herself, instead of letting her give in to fear and lose those qualities that made her uniquely Robyn.

I love the father Chris has become. He's fully embracing fatherhood and loving it, which only added to his sexiness for me. And how cute are all of the kids? I had to laugh at Caitlyn with her 'baby mean-mug'. I was also happy to see Riley, Shawn, Tracy and Brendan. Oh, and how great was it that Carolyn got her groove back? Yay, Carolyn!

Ms. Forrester, you are an AMAZING storyteller! Thank you so much for sharing your gift with us. Having said that, you know I'm already waiting impatiently for whatever is next. Get to writing, woman!

Reread June 2019. Loved it again.

Reread October 2017. What a wonderful, rich, moving, enjoyable reread.

Original review March 2017: This a sequel to Afterwards, which finished on a "semi" cliffhanger i.e. it was a complete story but you knew there was more to tell. So, Afterburn takes up Robyn and Chris's story and continues it. I thought it would be a fairly simple, perhaps shortish book. But no, it's a full-length, full-on novel. And what a ride!

There were times in this book when I felt like grinding my teeth in frustration at the dumb decisions both Chris and (especially) Robyn make at different times. But, they are realistic characters. And real people sometimes make dumb decisions. In their mind there is a reason for what they do, and sometimes people are blind to the potential consequences of their actions. So there were plenty of nervous, angsty moments for me whilst reading this.

But by the end of it, I felt I really knew and understood and respected these two people. They have been through the wringer, but they have an unbreakable bond, a beautiful love where they see each other as the people they really are deep down. They have both matured, especially Chris. He is no longer the immature, selfish, foolish risk-taker he was as a young man. Chris changes so much, and for the better. By the end you're a little in love with Chris......

So, the conclusion to a beautiful story about two very complex characters and the journey they have travelled on to finally find both themselves and each other. I loved this book.

06/14/2015 --

Not going to write a long review for this one. This book winds up the story of Chris and Robyn. I enjoyed it. It seems to drag in places, but I think their love story needed the meandering path this one took. They are complicated characters and it seemed right that their love not be simple. It had just as much depth as the characters involved.

Another really enjoyable read. I guess it can stand alone, but I think you have more context when you read this one and book right before it in the series; Afterwards Afterwards (Commitment, #4) by Nia Forrester .

Robyn & Chris - BRAB Online Book Club

This particular book was one that was a highly anticipated one for me, and the minute it came out, I bought it and delved right in. There was not a moment of regret, since Robyn and Chris is one of my favorite couples.

The author does a good job of getting me to understand the characters, experience their highs and lows, cry for the hardship and celebrate the high points.

Robyn and Chris both met each other at a critical time in their life and somehow manage to be each other's rock. I love Chris's growth over the years, from being an inattentive father to becoming a very involved one. Robyn came into her own after a bad marriage in which she made too many concessions, to being an independent woman.

Last but not least, the romance and sex scenes were so on point and I just couldn't get enough of them. Overall an excellent book and job well done.

Robyn’s selfishness was overwhelming to me & made the book less enjoyable. It’s clear she needed to go to therapy after her divorce with Curtis. I was done with her when she still decided to go on that motorcycle trip AFTER her Mom gave her that lecture and said everything I’d been thinking. Chris was patient and worked through his issues with a sense of maturity that it seems Robyn was incapable of.

Sorry this is more of a rant than a review but I had to get that off my chest. But it was impossible to connect with Robyn.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What a beautiful conclusion! I love the Scaifes, their story was a roller coaster ride. And while the twists and turns were draining (i.e, Robyn and her plans); it was necessary for them.

Chris changed so much in this book, he was no longer running and thinking. The reverse can be said for Robyn, but her regression in the grand scheme of things made sense. Especially towards the very end, I just wish she would’ve heeded her mother’s warning. Because Carolyn has been serving wisdom since book 1.

I hope to see more from them in the future books in this series. Love, love, love!!!

Great conclusion

I’m so happy that Robyn and Chris got their happy ending. But Robyn worked my nerves in this story, she was so incredibly selfish. Chris in this book was a changed man. He was a great dad and mate to Robyn. Robyn almost did everything to drive a Chris away, she finally learned her lesson at the end.

LOVED. I had been holding off on this series for about a year, but I’m so glad I decided to give it a read. I lived for Chris and Robin’s dynamic. Just everything. The maturity. The growth. The BOSS couple. :) I also just love the kids so much!

There's a few reasons why I really liked this book. First of all I have to admit that in the first few pages of reading this story I was captivated by the family dynamics and the tender moments with Chris, Robyn and the baby. It really does touch your heart. From that point forward I started to form a liking for Chris. By the end of the book I saw him in a totally different light. Robyn I still think is fantastic. She had some lessons to learn in this book. It's her mental outlook on what I feel are difficult situations to deal with in real life that I found impressive. Such things as ex-girlfriends and their children to name a few things. The pace of the story was nice, lots of detail to help you feel like you're watching their every move. All in all I'd recommend this book, I felt that the author did a nice job.

Afterburn was the perfect sequel. I enjoyed this book so much and fall in love with all the characters. Throughout the book I had a love hate relationship with Chris.

You ever read a book where you can imagine everything as you read the sentences? You ever read a book that forces you to feel what the characters are feeling? You ever read a book that you don't want to end? Afterburn is THAT book!

Chris and Robyn are so opposite but so perfect for each other. They take you on a trip from the prestige office to the bedroom to Paris. You will be on an emotional rollercoaster until the last word on the last page.

This book is one of the best I've read all year! Nia Forrester is definitely my favorite author.

"Afterburn" was definitely worth the wait Nia. I love Chris and Robyn, so I prayed for a sequel to "Afterwards" after reading it because I knew that their story was not over. I feel that way right now after reading "Afterburn" as well, lol. I don't like to reveal Spoilers in my reviews, which is way they're usual not in great detail, but do not think that it's because I didn't 't enjoy the story because that would be the furtherest thing from the truth. I can read about all 3 of these couples, Tracy & Brendan, Riley & Shawn, and Chris & Robyn forever and not get tired and bored, but I also know tag at all good things eventually come to an end.

I loved this book. I wanted to see how Chris and Robyn 's story was going to end. I was not disappointed. I don't believe in spoilers. All I can say is Nia Forrester is an awesome author. I have never read anything by Nia that was not excellent. She had me hanging on every word. Her characters are so real and relatable. The story evoked all kind of emotions in me. I laughed, I cried, I was happy, sad and mad all in the same novel. It was so amazing. It was well worth the wait. It is a must read.

After I finished Afterwards (which I really enjoyed) I still felt like something was missing; good news.... Afterburn helped me get the connection that I was missing between myself, Chris & Robyn ;-)! This was a smooth & enjoyable read. I love when an alpha man can show his sensitive side but still be strong, a father who can also step up and be a daddy, a businessman that can handle business; Chris Scaife showed these characteristics and more. This was such a great story.

Ms Forrester has done it again

As I finish Afterburn, I am completely enthralled. Once again Ms. Forrester has bought the complexities love to light. Robyn and Chris's story continues. In this novel these characters develop and find liberation to love each other in the most unlikely ways. Read it, it is a great sequel to Afterwards.

Afterburn

This story was very emotional. I disappointed, sad, happy, and angry all at the same time. Robyn and Chris and thus magnetic pull to each other even when they were at odds with each other. I'm glad Robyn showed Chris how to love his kids but she infuriated me with Paris.
Love this story Great follow-up! Brava Nia!

I am now a fan of Ms. Nia Forrester! This is the first series I've read from her and I am completely delighted. I love a good love story and this series doesn't disappoint. Even more, I love mature characters, who may struggle, but don't fall victim to the same old cliched story lines. Robyn was strong and Chris was strong, and that was okay with them both. I'm looking forward to many more!

Afterburn continues the story of Chris and Robyn from Afterwards and is the wonderful examination of what really happens when two people begin to bond. I love that the author takes the concept of marriage—becoming one—and shows that it really has to happen long before people ever get to the altar. Even though Chris had been in two relationships that gave him children, one where he lived with the woman for a few years, he hadn’t committed himself to either of those women in the way a person does when they are truly blending lives. And, although Robyn had been married and tried to merge her life with her husband, the effort wasn’t reciprocated because the respect, openness, and integrity weren’t mutual. While Chris and Robyn are now in a relationship with each other where they’re more “equally yoked,” life as an engaged-to-be-married couple doesn’t come easily and that makes for a beautifully complex and entertaining novel.

Throughout the engagement, Chris is terrified of the way he needs Robyn. Having a brilliant and independent fiancée means that he knows other men want his woman—and he’s possessive, territorial, and vindictive. He doesn’t share or even play nice with others. He doesn’t want his business colleagues in meetings with her to get distracted by lustful ideas the same as he does. Of course, since his gorgeous and talented fiancée is a star attorney in his recording empire, he can’t shove her into a closet to keep her out of view and totally to himself. There is no way he’s going to clip her wings or expect her to live in his shadow—like she did with her ex-husband. Yes, it causes problems that the couple has to work through professionally because this is definitely uncharted territory. Boundaries are definitely crossed as they struggle to define what will and will not work. And that’s only in the office. We won’t even get started on “baby mama drama” except to say there is more than enough of that to go around with two exes and their three children.

Robyn has her own issues to unravel. The concept of “two people becoming one” never sunk in despite her being married previously. She was her ex-husband’s crutch and shrank in his shadow. Now, she’s involved with a very dominant personality who loves her enough to push her into growing into the fullness of her own purpose in spite of her insecurities, but Chris also needs her in a way that creates a bond she’s never had. Robyn is only unsure of herself because she doesn’t immediately recognize the depth of her interdependence on Chris, and doesn’t see the beauty in having the support that both frees and binds her. As they maneuver around the complexity of balancing their romance, raising their infant daughter, opening the Paris recording office—that Robyn is doing while Chris remains in America—everything she believes about her own strengths and relationships is tested. He’s got her back, and while she isn’t used to his interference and doesn’t appreciate his protectionism, she can’t doubt his devotion. Still, she’s an independent and stubborn career woman whose ego causes problems.

When we consider Robyn’s full family dynamics and her understanding of love, we can compare it to Chris’ experiences and know without a doubt that they are perfect for each other. We’re cheering for them to figure love’s mysteries out and stop being confused about what’s really so simple. But, isn’t that how the experience of falling in love and growing in a relationship is? Step by step while you’re in it doesn't feel easy or simple. It’s painful and confusing and scary—and completely discombobulating. Yeah, they both make very stupid mistakes that make you want to step into the book and slap them in the head! Instead, you heave a sigh and hang on for that happy ending that you know has to be coming for this couple. They’ve been through too much not to make it.

This series is about what happen when we fall in love quickly and then our heads have to get out of the way. Nia Forrester accurately captures what happens when two hearts are determined to blend and the minds get dragged along a step or two later. The interdependence is mutual. One beautiful irony is that Chris had wrapped his priorities around Robyn’s view of him and relied on her strength to transform him into a calmer man and a better father. Nia wrote this so skillfully that the characters don’t seem aware that this is what he’s doing. In fact, it’s Robyn’s nurturing nature at the beginning of Afterwards that brought them together as more than two people who had mutual friends, that had her help him in a personal way to open the door to this amazing love that is exactly what both of them need, and that transformed his business and his family life. This author wrote an amazingly well-crafted and complex story about blending that is seductive on many levels, and I know that you are going to love it.

While this book concludes Robyn and Chris’ love story, it’s not the end of the series. The Come Up is next, and in it we get to live a little with Jamal Turner. Talk about sexy!

Love is sacrifice

*Spoilers*
Whew chile when I tell you this book wore me out!!!!!
Let me just say I love Chris and Robyn. They were an imperfect couple navigating the trials of life. It was when they attempted to navigate them alone, is where trouble always followed. When they navigated them together they were a force.

Robyn, the heroine, was brave, strong, independent, with a beautifully wild spirit. In the first book we learned how she clipped her own wings for years trying to make herself into something her then husband wouldn't find intimidating. Chris, even when he really wanted to, refused to stifle her dreams. He loved her so much that he wanted to see her fly. There were so many moments of selfishness from Robyn though. It felt like she used that love she knew he had for her to make terrible decisions. I understood what Paris meant to her, but it felt like the one time when she could have put Chris first she chose herself. Ironically I get that too though, especially when she didn't choose herself before in her previous marriage. His bold love for her made her feel free.

Chris (the hero) was intriguing. He had a hard exterior, but Robyn, his children, and age gave him a softer interior. There were a few moments where I wanted him to communicate, like really tell Robyn how the actions she was taking impacted him. Instead he just let his feelings simmer and then chose to give her whatever she wanted even if it hurt his feelings. For Robyn He was willing to sacrifice everything. He was such a good man, even though he didn't realize it. His growth as a parent was huge and it looked good on him which irked me deeply when Robyn went to Paris. They were made for each other and I loved them together.

I don't usually talk about sub characters, but this story was too juicy. First Karen had me messed up. Out here trying to be fake sweet all while plotting to get back with Chris. Chris made me upset thinking that she was too weak to try anything when he should've checked her and reduced contact early on. Second Jeanette was foul, she was underhanded with the way she delivered such heartbreaking info. Third Etienne made my skin crawl with his accent and disrespectful ways. He just could not wait to catch Robyn off guard. As you can see this couple had a lot to navigate and I was happy to see they chose each other over and over.

I hate Sheryl. On every level.

Robin and Chris are two goofy mofos just putting themselves in dumb ass situations. This will not end well

Etinne need to get his ass kicked then fired.

Yes mama Carolyn go for yours.🥰

Ok Jeanette didn’t mince words. I don’t remember if she knew about Robyn so I don’t know if I should be pissed. Ok I’m pissed bc she’s been up in Robyn face, so I don’t know what level of pissed

But Karen? Karen definitely need her ass whooped. And Chris too for that matter. She just fucked it up for the kids. They’ll probably never have another day, all of them together like that. She will forever let Chris use her if he wanted to bc she doesn’t respect herself.

Robyn so freaking hardheaded. He mother tried to warn her. Even Jamal but no, I’m adventurous and a baby won’t stop me. Chris needs to wring her neck.

It’s her fault, he should blame her and she should blame herself. I suspected when she mentioned being sick. Her ass better not even look at another bike.

Ok so I was wrong about the cause of the accident. I may have been a little too harsh with my girl. She’s still very much at fault for being there.

Aww. I love how Chris is showing love to Robyn by not letting her give up.

You’re about to be Mr. Robyn Crandall. Deuce is a trip. 😀

“What kind of idiot do you think I am? 🤔” He said nothing. “Well, thanks.” 😂😂

Now she talking shit with the girls and get busted. “Oh, is that right?” 😂😂

Aww. I love the end. I really enjoyed the focus on Chris and Robyn’s journey. I miss them already

A king who never once gave up his crown even when he surrendered

If I loved Chris and Robyn in book 1, I was head over heels in Book 2

Baby Caitlin is here and Chris has done a 180. A doting father obsessed with his new baby, he's also trying to develop a relationship with his other children, mostly because of Robyn.

Scaife Europe is moving full speed ahead and who better to head the Office than Robyn who is excited at the prospect and even rearing to go. And even though Chris initially denied her opportunity he would never hold her back, so off to France Robyn goes for 6 months

In book 1, Chris comes off as the villain although he's not really a villain but really you see the evolution of Chris, from playboy to mogul, absentee father to trying, womanizer to committed. You love him nonetheless but Robyn is the hero

In book 2, the roles are reversed. I myself fall in love with Chris, his absolute dedication to Robyn, seeing him and Caity, his progress with his children and even mending the relationships with their mothers. And Robyn becomes the villain, leaving Chris behind, denying him his baby, being gullible with Etienne, reckless with Chris' feelings and her safety, I wanted to slap her but still couldn't help but love her.

Together, they are magic, happy, sad, in the office, in bed, in marriage. Beautiful story, I'm sad to see the end

Not gonna lie, I started off being a bit frustrated with Chris and his possiveness over Robyn and Caitlyn, but we get a glimpse into his inner thoughts and we get to read why. He really adores Robyn like he would move oceans just so everyone knew that she was his and he wanted her to claim him too as her own. Which obviously had he swooning and slightly teary eyed because I'm a thug but Nia Forrester is very raw in describing Chris's emotions and how he has changed from who he was with previous women to how he is with Robyn, it's a very active, deliberate change that we get to see.

We get to see their growth progress so well, it's like growing up with them in some way. Nia Forrester really did that, it's beautiful to even read abiut the progress Chris & Robyn make, how they become grown adults who become more considerate of the other.

Chris just has this silent power like each time I read about him from Robyn's perspective mmmh damn a man, okay.

There were moments, they both frustrated me because they both knew they had a good thing going but they just would slip up but they get their act together and that's all I wanted and needed.

Damn damn damn 😩 Where do I even begin?!!? Afterwards and Afterburn were both just so damn good. I honestly felt like I was watching a movie 🎥🍿 What had me tripping the most was this was one of the first stories in a while where I wasn’t immediately siding with the female main character. I felt Nia F. did a great job of making Robyn very like able but at the same time showing her flaws and how selfish she was. What made her relatable was the fact that Robyn was never selfish maliciously but she was so stuck in her ways at one point especially after a failed miserable marriage where she consistently put someone else’s needs before her own. She knew that Chris would allow her to be her and a lot of times I felt like she used that to her advantage. I loved despite everything their bond remained so true. There were definitely some bumps along the way but they loved each other through it all ❤️ Can’t wait to read the rest of the series!
