SapphicLover69 was a very interesting mystery , likeable characters. Kept wanting to read to find out who the stalker was. Aspen Wolf a Sapphic writer made a friend on social media but then turns dangerous when SapphicLover69 starts texting hateful making Aspen leaving socal media. Til 2 of her books are up for awards so she decides to go thinking SapphicLover69 has stop but she's there too. Aspen Not knowing who the stalker is so many people there and finding love wasn't something she was looking for either.

I struggled to get into this book and honestly had a hard time sticking with it all the way through. I didn’t connect with the main character, Aspen, at all. She came across as judgmental in her internal monologue. She stood up for equality out loud and was clearly a good person at heart, but she spent too much time critiquing people’s appearances and fixating on butch or femme labels. I really dislike when characters (or real people) feel the need to box women into those categories like it’s the only way to understand them.

The premise had potential. I just didn’t enjoy the romance much either. The love interest didn’t stand out to me and their dynamic felt fine at best. I also didn’t understand Aspen’s ongoing connection with her parents who clearly weren’t supportive of her sexuality. She never really addressed being fully out either. I get that living in Florida under the “don’t say gay” climate might make that complicated, but it felt underexplored.

And since the book is mostly built around the mystery plot, I’ll say this: it didn’t work for me. It wasn’t embarrassingly obvious or anything, but I still didn’t feel satisfied by the reveal. It just didn’t hit the way I wanted it to.

Amazing characters!

I just wish that the story had gone on for another 10 chapters! I know that Edale put a lot of time and effort in writing the story, so it's likely that she won't see want to put more effort into the story, but, one can always hope, right?

Thanks for what you did create for us!

4 stars. The beginning took a bit for me to get into and the pacing in the middle was a bit slow going, but other than that I thought this a pretty good read. I love Lane's writing. It's always strong and vivid. The characters were interesting, I liked the plot, and their was a sweet romance on the side between Aspen and Winter. I also liked the behind the scenes look at publishing within the sapphic book community. I found all of that to be extremely fascinating and informative. The mystery was intriguing and kept me on my toes as I never knew what was gonna happen next. Overall, this was a lot of fun and I would recommend it if you're wanting something quick and unique.

Five years of hard work and so many followers, connections to other authors, upcoming promos for new releases and others from all walks of life, all gone with a push of a button. Aspen Wolfe made it all disappear along with Sapphic and LGBTQ connections. When you are an author what else can you do when you have a stalker?

For Aspen Wolfe it was back to being Mary Jones, who was just a teacher in Gulfport, Florida. She taught Jr. High English to teens. Mary was average and not as exciting as Aspen Wolfe. Mary had a fabulous girlfriend, Tracey. But Tracey broke up with her when a motorcycle chick took her for a ride. The break-up was hurtful and Mary battled the pain but in the end it was good for her. She continued teaching but threw herself into writing a novel. She jumped through all the hoops and a year later there were still hills to climb. Tracey eventually came back with nothing and only remained a friend. She read the the Aspen Wolfe manuscript and suggested self-publishing. With more learning and “how to’s” three purchases were made. Joining an ARC service, she found Tammy Fairfield, an older woman, an established sapphic author of historical fiction. Tammy became a mentor and one year later Aspen Wolfe’s novel was a #1 hit.

Her popularity got her invited to the Literary Laurels Society convention by Catherine Beech. This was an exciting moment and a very big step for Aspen as she will be a presenter at the summer convention in New Orleans.

Attending the convention she already has a good friend and mentor in Tammy Fairfield, her partner Elizabeth, and meets Winter Bliss a young sci-fi author and Elaine Parker an urban fantasy, witches and magic YA author.

Even though Aspen is having a good time, in the back of her mind there’s always the stalker. When she finally takes a break to see if she’s heard from her sister Alice or Tracey, she has forty-two unknown nasty text messages from her stalker, SapphicLover69. The group: Tammy, Beth, Winter and Elaine are very much aware of Aspen’s stalker and they become protective of Aspen. The small group bond and vow to protect Aspen. They always make plans and never leave Aspen alone. As Aspen enjoys herself she becomes very close to Winter. As tempting as it is she keeps her feelings under control.

There are all types of people at the convention, everyone is a suspicion for Aspen. Why does someone want to destroy her career as a sapphic author?

Edale Lane brings an interesting story of becoming a writer and all the trials and heartbreak that just go along with trying to get that first book off the ground.

As all authors struggle in the world of books, this content addresses more of the Sapphic author. It tells of the learning and research an up and coming author has to do to even get one book sold. Once one does finally get a best seller, there’s the fan base, connections made and the hope to just be recognized. There will be those who like them and those who don’t. Even though it’s a competition amongst those who write sapphic novels it should have never had to be. There’s also jealousy and danger that crosses the line.

This is like “Author 101” as it takes readers into what authors really face just to get started. I have heard of the harassment, complaints, criticisms, bad publishers that authors deal with but I hope none have ever had to face what takes place in this story.

I liked Aspen, Winter, Tammy, Elizabeth and Elaine. They built a solid friendship, looked out for each other and never had jealousy of each other. They also shared in how to become a good author and greater friends.

I highly recommend “SapphicLover69” by Edale Lane. It’s somewhat different from what she usually writes, but she still gives it a touch of a good, dangerous mystery. I hope other authors give this entertaining novel a read.

A very well written mystery with a romance expertly woven into the experience. I loved how Edale was able to mix the mystery, thriller, and romance so smoothly, and the story drew me in and made me lament putting it down. I also loved how this book gave a look of what it's like being an independently published author.

Self described boring school teacher Mary Jones and sapphic author, under the pseudonym Aspen Wolfe, is beginning to really garner a following and is selling more books. She decides to take a chance, follow her dream, and become a full-time author. Taking the leap is a good move, despite struggling financially, she keeps gaining in popularity, both in sales and online. Unfortunately, a negative side effect of becoming a bigger name in sapphic fiction is online hate, and Aspen receives hers in the form of a stalker who calls herself SapphicLover69.

SapphicLover69 launches a campaign of harassment against Aspen so severe that after going to all of the relevant authorities to try to discover the identity of her harasser and stop the harassment, and even going to the police to try to get some protection, Aspen finds that her only course of action is to completely nuke her online presence. Despite being an independent, self-published author, and even after deleting her online following, her books are still very popular and she soon gets nominated for 3 awards and she even gets invited to lead a presentation at the awards convention.

Mary decides to take the opportunity of this convention to take up the mantle of the sexy, alluring Aspen Wolfe rather than plain old Mary Jones, and she gets a makeover and packs a new wardrobe. She also hopes that the convention will be a place to escape the fear of harassment from SapphicLover69, and possibly hook up with one of the other sexy sapphic authors while visiting New Orleans.

At the conference, Aspen finds out more about herself, makes some wonderful new friends, finds an unlikely romance, while SapphicLover69 strikes from the shadows in ever escalating attacks. Will Aspen survive, or will SapphicLover69 succeed in taking out her rival and elude detection?

I wasn't sure when I picked this up whether I would like it or not. Quite often books that are labelled as a thriller or a mystery are anything but. This kept me engaged though and wanting to read more.
I am assuming the Lesbian writer's conference is based on GCLS which was amusing.
The characters and plot were heavy weight enough to engage but light enough to amuse and keep you guessing.
The premise is that a writer, Aspen Wolfe is being stalked online and harassed by SapphicLover69.
There are a number of interesting characters - and caricatures. It is quite interesting to see if you can figure out if any of the characters are based on real people. I have ideas about some of them. There are interesting ideas about those publishing through a small lesbian press and those self published, and a little rivalry.
As with any good mystery the perpetrator could be one of a number of people - and it is written in a way that makes you look again at everybody and doubt the motives of all attendees.
There is disability representation nicely written in.
And there is someone with Dr Who underwear! I mean. Who wouldn't be attracted to someone in Tardis pants?! (in the English sense of the word, not trousers)

During all of this mystery, there is still romance between 2 of the author attendees. It was not what the main character, Aspen Wolfe had planned for the conference. She had wanted to 'mingle with the glamourous bestsellers' but instead was 'on the island of misfit toys'.

People who read a book a day or more were described as 'reading freaks'. I'd like to take offence at that, but everyone who has ever known me would probably describe me in the same way. Or worse.

There is of course an epilogue set 5 months after the main action. This just showcased how they had moved on in life. There was no earth shattering update, no marriage proposal or plans for 3 children. A very sensible sort of epilogue.

I definitely recommend this book.

SapphicLover69 is a story that lives through the lives of its characters. By that I mean that the story is not a rapid fire action mystery that plows through the plot. The characters are well thought out and the story evolves as they go about their day-to-day lives.

Friends are made, loves are discovered, and strong bonds are formed among the small group of writers as they attend a convention while Aspen/Mary is being stalked by an unknown person.

Winter is a younger, spunky writer who is drawn to Aspen from their first meeting. She quickly becomes the friend who will protect Aspen at all costs.

Unknown to Aspen and friends the stalker is at the convention and lets her presence be known in unusual and frightening ways. There will be a showdown!

My favorite thing about this story is the way it feels like we are living with the characters - not just reading about them.

An excellent book for an afternoon with a good cup of coffee.

I read an Advance Copy of this book and am leaving this voluntary review based on my personal reading experience.

What a good book! SapphicLover69 follows a sweet romance author being stalked by an ever-escalating online lunatic. Aspen Wolfe super sexy erotic romance writer aka Mary Jones irl, has been dealing with a social media nightmare. SapphicLover 69 has been vilifying Aspen online so much she finally closes out all her social media accounts. The threats swell dangerously at a Lesbian Literature award weekend in New Orleans. While attending the awards Aspen meets a couple of friends and gets closer to new ones. Could one of these be the stalker? The tension ramps up as the story rolls on. The secondary characters are divine. Heck, I want to hang out with some sapphic authors like these! The thrill of the mystery is attention grabbing and a sweet little romance will grab your heart. I just really need to know what goes on in chapter 10 of Aspen Wolfe's erotic romance book??? lol

This interesting blend of mystery and romance with tidbits about the sapphic publishing world held my attention. Although the story felt a little slow in places, the relationships and interactions between the characters, whether positive or negative, kept me reading. Sometimes the MC's descriptions of her fellow writers felt a little judgmental, butI liked the premise and the setting, although it’s amazing what kind of things could happen at a con (at least in fiction). The characters are all an interesting batch of writers, publishers, and fans. This is a quick, easy, somewhat light-hearted read even with the thriller element.

Oh this is such a romp through a conference. The meet ups, the hotties, the nerdy table. The underlying conversations around stalking on line, AI, Indie publishing are so well explained. I couldn't tell if this was going to be a horror tale or a New Orleans ghost tale but it was a very wonderful opposites attract. Imagine meeting someone who had been up on the Shuttle. I love great works of romantic fiction

This is more thriller than anything else. There is a sprinkling of romance but the most compelling component is the suspense. Very engaging and well written with believable characters. Recommended for all readers of thrillers regardless of gender.

A great mystery that kept me engrossed.
Very well written. I particularly liked the fact that the setting was a sapphic literary awards event and MC's were all sapphic authors.

Recommended for mystery lovers and anyone that enjoys a good sapphic read.

A story following the issues created by online stalkers on sapphic authors. A troublesome tale, with a list of possible nasties.

I really liked this book. The premise of a sapphic romance writer being stalked was delicious. The characters were all distinct and interesting. I liked how romance snuck up on Aspen the MC. Her persona is crafted so no one gets to see the real and average person who does the writing. Meanwhile the strength of character she doesn’t see in herself is evident to others, especially Winter. Plus, getting a peek at how my favorite sapphic writers might act was fun. Pick this one up! I received an ARC.

This book is quite interesting. It depicts the challenges that writers face due to various issues related to the internet, such as AI-generated content, plagiarism, and story theft. The majority of the story is set at a writer's conference in New Orleans, where the protagonist, Aspen, is being stalked. This situation leads her to delete her online presence, only to find out that her stalker is attending the same conference. Aspen must identify the stalker before it's too late. I enjoyed the mystery and the interactions Aspen had with her friends while trying to solve the mystery. There are some suspenseful moments throughout the book, but overall, it was an enjoyable and engaging read, shedding light on the thought processes and challenges faced by writers.

A very enjoyable easy read. An interesting concept, so relevant for the times we live in, when we realise we really don't know who the people we talk to online are ( friends or foes). I loved all the friends characters and the inclusivity of the whole book. It was great having someone in a wheelchair and it being all about her and what she did and not focusing on her disability. A lovely overall read.
