My name is Tamsin Vale, I’m the future queen of Faerie… And people need to get on board with my vision for Faerie. They wanted me to declare I would take the job—demanded and bullied me into saying it, so now they have to deal with the kind of boss I am. The Underground is no more because of the fight I started. Two corrupt councils and two bogus dragon “Alphas” are gone because of what I pushed for. There are amazing changes in Faerie because of the gobs of money I’ve been pumping into a world I barely know and I’m terrified of. It’s about time people start having my back and faith in me. It feels weird, and sometimes I’m still bitter because of how long it took… But hopefully, I can learn to get used to being supported. There’s still a lot to be done. There’s still mountains for me to move to help my people and the supe world. I’m up for the task if people stop fighting against me. I doubt that will ever happen, but at least I think more and more will start fighting with me, and that’s more than I could ever have hoped for five years ago.
Artemis University is an ongoing, hot burning reverse harem, university-age paranormal academy series with darker elements, strong language, violence, and a heroine who follows her own moral compass of what is right… And who she ends up giving her heart to.
*This book is part of a series and cannot be read as a standalone. Like all my books, this is not light and fluffy and includes dark themes and events some may find triggering. Reader discretion is advised.
Erin is a born Chicagoan who decided to state hop a bit, given she works from home. She currently resides in Georgia with her pup, Lord Vader Flynn. With an eclectic and addictive personality, there isn’t much that doesn’t interest her or she won’t pour herself into if it catches her fancy. She has always been interested in the darker aspects of life and mythologies—especially vampires, shifters, the occult, and anything paranormal.
To date, she has published more paranormal books than she can keep up with the characters for, in different genres with dedicated readers who await each release to her numerous series under any of the three Flynn names she writes.
So, the decision to have so many major events off-page was crushing to me as a fan of the series.
It firstly made me genuinely confused; I almost convinced myself I'd missed a book or novella.
Spoiler: . . . . . Also, this bad organization is taken down, and it's like nothing happened. No sweat...and they move on. The lead-up to the takedown overcompensated for the actual takedown, AND of course, a lot of it happened off-page.
I understand the author wants to wrap this series up in three books now, but it read like a checklist of expected milestones with not much substance...
The story felt rushed, and it has me worried about what will be jammed into the last two books.
I still managed to enjoy a lot of the story, and I will be reading the next one. I just hope the off-page action/drama doesn't become a thing. Because then it becomes like a fade to black, not of the sexy times, but the action instead.
I am honestly unsure why I am stilll reading this series as there is absolutely no reason why this is on book 24 and still not finished. The editing needs to be looked at Tamsin has gone from a kick ass heroine to needy and whiny like a petulant child and the men are barely relevant anymore.
Where was the battle?????????? Sentences that don't make sense, spelling errors, disjointed sentences with stupid hyphenation. There were a few good bits, hence 2 stars and not 1. I rarely leave a low rating but this book was not it. It took me a lot longer to read as I just couldn't find the flow. So disappointing, first 13 books are by far the best thereafter it feels like the author got greedy and tried rushing the story.
Please note the following review encompasses books 20 through 26 of the SERIES. As each book depends on the prior books, I am not reviewing each individually to cut down on repetition. Following this review, I will be one final review of my reading experience throughout all 26 books.
As always, I will endeavor to minimize spoilers, but please read at your own risk.
Ok, it's been 19 books, and I haven't really touched on the totally delicious guys in this series. Mostly, because I wasn't sure who was staying and who was going. Because believe you me, Tamsin has her choice of treats. But I want to talk boys for a bit.
Let's start with our dragon. Hudson is a dragon prince, and his dragon, River, is as sweet as pie. Both love Tamsin wholeheartedly, but Hudson needs to learn when and how to pull his head out of that place the sun doesn't shine. He makes more than his fair share of mistakes, but unlike real life, there is almost always a redemption opportunity. I was thrilled he took it.
Next, there's the sexy warlock professor, Julian Craftsman. He is quite literally too smart for his own good. I was ready to throw the towel in and look for a replacement, but, like Hudson, he pulled off a miracle to get the girl. As much as this man frustrated me, he still managed to make me swoon. This man is Fine with a capital F, and the support he ends up providing for Tamsin would not have worked so well for anyone else.
This is the one y'all are looking forward to. Our geeky vampire tutor turned attorney. Most notably, he is the only one of Tamsin's mates that she purposely chose. Everyone else is a fated mate, but she loved Darby enough to tell Fate and the gods to F off. Darby is far from perfect, but he is the normal in her world that's spinning wildly out of control, and let's face it, it's impossible to not find him loveable. He brings a lot of baggage though, and it is incredible to watch him work through it all.
Lucca's relationship started with a ... lie of omission? Not a purposeful misrepresentation, but it still set their relationship back. Truthfully, I didn't expect him to make the final cut, but Lucca worked his butt off to fix his mistakes, to learn and grow from them, and unlike the rest, he doesn't make the same mistake twice. And Harry, his bear, is just too adorable.
And this leaves us with Neldor Donovan, Prince of Dark Fairies, aka Prince of Darkness. When first introduced to Neldor, I knew he was going to be vital to the plot, but I wanted him to die in a fire regardless. He was just flat out mean to Tamsin, but as the story progressed, his character made subtle changes to his attitude and behavior, and I realized that I like the guy. For all of his faults, he ends up adoring Tamsin, and more than any of the other relationships, this one left me with warm fuzzies.
Expect my final review of the overall, full series in a few days.
However, as always, Iwant to leave a content warning of sorts because mental health matters. Contained in the story so far, you will find racism, classism, prejudice and past trauma (physically, emotionally, and smexually.) There are also forced abductions, bullying outside of the harem, references to ongoing trafficking, violence, attempted forced mating and SA, intimate partner abuse, family disconnect and related trauma from both sides, and discussion of forced breeding. Characters have ongoing mental health issues, including anxiety, panic attacks, depression, fear of abandonment, grief & loss, self-worth issues, and suicidal ideation. Please know your limits and read responsibly.
This book was completely unnecessary to the story.. With only 2 moderately impactful moments this book absolutely could have been absorbed into the last book or held until the 25th release (which realizing the next book is #25 hurts so much)
So many random things happening at once without true closure makes for a hard to follow story line and that happened repeatedly here. On top of that this book once again needs a heavy round of edits. Tamsin has the foundation for an incredibly inspirational character but she’s devolved into nothing but a whiny bully. She whines and cries claiming how “fair” she is because she is a fairy BUT her actions do not remotely correspond to her claims. She literally set people up to arrest, force them to spew their dirty secrets under a truth rune and have them arrested once forcing their crimes out all for ticking one of her generals off during an interview. Like girl.. YOU’RE THE PROBLEM?! These books have surpassed justice and fairness and are now more in line with coercion and cruelty. It’s just disappointing and disgusting when you realize how valiant and righteous Tamsin was in the beginning.
Book 24 has a heavier dose of schmex and yet it felt as if the men were hardly there? We got brief interactions outside of the bedroom but aside from that the author kicked the men to the curb this time aside from neldor the first half of the book. However, just when you think you’re getting more from him the story deviates and once they scratched an itch his importance just evaporated.
I usually look at book based on vibes more than I do critically but this book didn’t even pass the vibe check to make up for the plot holes, inconsistent character behaviors, half plots, immature writing, and general whining from Tamsin. I have highlighted many portions and left notes (on GR) just to highlight points in the story that attribute to the overall WT.F feeling I got but seriously… let this story be put to rest!!! It outstayed its welcome a long time ago and there is absolutely such a thing as a series being too long. This series hit that mark 12 books ago.
I want to love Tamsin so bad and I go into each book with an open mind (especially seeing a heavy amount of 5 ⭐️ ratings) but the contents of the book always seem to find new ways to let me down and while I understand readers want to support their authors it’s important as a reader to know the problematic factors too.
I don’t know why im still reading these… honestly the story itself is interesting, but these books could be condensed down into like 4. No one needs that many details for world building. We don’t need to know about the complexities of a sorbet business. And please for the love of all that is wholly PROOFREAD AND EDIT!!!! I can’t even count how many misspellings, bad grammar, run on sentences and just confusing sentences there are. It’s like it was all written with voice to text and there’s no proofreading for clarity. Also, the tone and voice of each character is lost in the authors own voice, they all have the same exact tone and style because it’s all just the authors voice. But really, I can’t state enough the need for editing, there’s a reason most books take so long to be published, and thats because of the amount of rewriting and rounds and rounds of editing that goes into them. I think we, as readers, would rather wait longer for books and have them actually be readable and legible.
But I finished the whole book. I'm liking the direction things are headed. Tamsin is becoming a fine young woman. She gets a couple more boosts to her magic, and she gets things more settled with her mates. I don't want to give away any spoilers, but things get very spicy. And even earthshattering! ;)
Also, the jackhole who attacked Tamsin, who sent the plagues to Artemis, and who was behind the fae dog puppy mill makes an appearance. But it leaves us asking more questions than answering them.
Complaint: it is so minor, truly. I mean, I can't even find a typo to report. But here it is. Why does Tamsin suddenly have a weird habit of running her tongue over her teeth? It just seems like a mannerism that should be mentioned once or twice per book, max. That's it. It's the only thing I could find to pick on.
Really great book. Lots of plot twists and turns. Recommend to buy or borrow. 9 out of 10 Unicorns 🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄
Great addition to the series, but the first half sort of felt like fill in. The 1st 8% was full of who characters were. If people don't know who is who by book 24, I think its their problem. It still feels too short, and it was just getting more interesting near the ending, then just stops for the next book. Also, it feels she is treating her mates differently. She says she has no favourites, but she clearly has an order Julian, Darby, Hudson, Lucca, and then Neldor. Yeah, Lucca and Neldor did stuff, but that was ages ago, and they have proven themselves. Hudson was technically her first mate, and she should have married him first. And poor neldor being a dirty little secret, I feel sorry for him. She is strong and very opinionated when it comes to issues and doesn't give a fluff of what people think. It should be the same with Neldor. I think all her mates should be equal at this point. This is just my opinion, and I still love the series.
This book was hilarious and perfect. I cannot describe how happy I am that Tamsin and her mates are all finally on the same page. It has been the worst show burn for the rekindle with Lucca and also for taking that final terrifying step with Neldor and it absolutely makes me squeal that they're all falling deeper in love. So many questions were answered in this book, the things we've been waiting for since book 3, like the ring and blanket, the owner of the magic from the biblical plague, and the other Vale. Then of course the fallout from the end of book 23 and cleaning up the underground. It's all coming together. I am not ready for this series to end and I will probably live it forever.
Ok this one had me on a roller coaster ride of emotions I love this series it keeps getting better and better I won’t spoil this for anyone just know you learn a few things that might have been erking you in previous books 10/10 highly recommend I really wish all these books were available to purchase in physical form I would have a whole book case dedicated to Erin R Flynn Books that’s how much I love her writing and books I’ve read this series so many times it’s not even funny Erin Thank You For Writing Books That Are Absolutely Amazing that I can’t fathom not reading them all in one month then doing it again the next month keep doing you boo I can’t wait for more from you
I've loved this series from the beginning. To see Tamsin's progression to get to the point she does in this book has been amazing.
In the beginning, I felt the book was kind of slow, but as I kept reading, I realized that was what was needed to get to where the book got to in the end.
I'm still a fan of Tams and her men. Even Neldor. (He's had to grow on me after how they started)
I'm looking forward to seeing how these new situations play out, who is jumping on the Tams train, and who is going to be left behind.
The next part may be spoiler-ish.... . . . . . . . I'm glad Tams is putting her foot down, utilizing her "full-stops," verbally kicking people in the rear, and stepping into her "queen-ness" attitude.
Honestly the afterword says it all we want it to never end because this series is just phenomenal. Tams is just amazing and I honestly am heart broken knowing there’s only a couple more books. I understand Tams and the guys need their HEA but i just wish it didn’t end and that’s pure selfishness. I will forever reread this series. Mostly because it’s like reading it for the first time and I laugh and smile and sob when there’s sad parts even if I’ve read it 20 times already. A series that does that is f***** amazing and I hope everyone ever reads this series. I woves this series and sera and I thanks Erin R Flynn for creating such magic.
I love Erin's writing style so much. She knows how to bring me to tears and make my heart soar. I know this series is drawing closer to the end. I love how she is bringing all the little breadcrumbs together that she has dropped throughout the series. I love how she seems to remember so much and still keeps such continuity in this wonderfully long series. This is another home run. It's so hard knowing that there are only 2 books left to come out but wanting to know what happens. Double edged sword, lol.
If you haven't read the first 23 books then you need to go do that now. (before spoilers)
Tamsin the princess of fairy is still having troubles. Restructuring and having power jumps. There's a lot of things coming together and a lot of things still up in the air. But it's all slowly getting reworked! I always recommend this series. It has all the factions of supernatural, reverse harem. Trials and tribulations! Love , loss and heartache. It's written amazingly and I'm always on the look out for the new release. It's 10\10.
The author has done it again. This is a great continuation in the Artemis University Series. There were some slower moments, parts that were more world building and less action or drama, but overall it was such a great book! I’m so glad Tamsin and her men are in a good place and that she is truly becoming the queen she was meant to be, but in her own way, without others influence!
I just finished the book after reading it in one setting and I loved it. This book was for my heart and just general happiness. I loved how the relationships have been progressed in this story and how we got more governing. I am very excited for the next 2 books and how the "newly named" threat will be handled. Also intrigued if the proposed changes at the end will go over well or not. This series just has my heart ❤️
Well that was one heck of a ride. Highs and lows ups and downs. But I’m honestly thrilled that Tamsin is finally kicking ass and taking names. She needs to show both worlds she is the boss. The sexy sciences were hawt and it’s about she got it on with Neldor it’s been a long time coming. But what will happen next? Will she find Mario? Will dad see her crowned? How does it end?
The get together that I’ve been salivating for had me do a double take, kinda like they had to because I was yelling oh heck no. Thank goodness for round two. This book is one that jumps everywhere trying to get those loose ends tied up for the series. You will laugh, probably cry too. I am not ready for her father to go, just no. Interjecting him having memory issues in the eleventh hour is a disservice to the him.
The development is unreal. Tamsin is taking things to the next level and everyone who has supported her is going with her. There is a lot of things going on but with Tamsin there always is. The power is growing and the closer she gets to being a Queen the closer she loses her dad. I feel for her. I mean he has become, her shield, her teacher and everything else she didn’t know she needed.
I adore this series and it’s been thrilling to see Tamsin develop into a strong and independent individual. I think this book is almost the cumulation of her development to future Queen. The last chapter when she started to identify her “cabinet” was brilliant I can’t wait to see what’s next. Please hurry and write and publish the next book. I’ll be waiting with bated breath.
I’ll be honest, when I started reading RH this series was always in my recommended lists. However, I judged a book by its cover, and didn’t read the synopsis thinking it about some preppy college girl. BOY, was I wrong. Only good part of putting it off was I was able to binge read the first 12. This one was amazing, and had me crying in all the right parts. I’m excited to see how she takes action in the next book!
This is one of my favorite series. Tamsin is a strong female character while still having a soft heart & being willing to lean on her men when she needs to. Hudson, Lucca. Julian, Darby & even Neldor have finally got their acts together and being the wonderful men we all knew they could be. Love this & can’t wait for the next one.
This book actually showed movement in her story. FINALLY! To me, it felt as though the last few books barely moved, I don't need fast-paced, but I need the plot to move along in each book, lots of complaining about the same issues and making the same threats. This felt like it walked with purpose. It's one of my top five favorites. Highly recommend.
I love this series! Tasmin is an amazing, exciting and sexy character. Erin R Flynn is a fantastic writer with a great imagination and an entertaining writer. I’ve loved this series from first book to book 24. I’m so looking forward to the next book in this series.
This is another amazing installment to this story. Well done. But you definitely have to read the whole series to know what is going on. Can't wait for the next book. Thank you to the author for keeping the books coming at regular intervals. She really is wonderful.
I loved everything about this story. It kept you going. Full of action, magic, love, and naughtiness. I usually delete a star for the. Errors in the book, but I've trained my eyes to read over it. And I did correct a couple of things, but the story's so darn good. I just couldn't make myself take away a star.
I don’t even know where to start… Tams is causing earthquakes…. Found out who is trying to kill bed and more importantly. She showed how humbled she is when a fairy saved her life. I was in tears. She handled it so great, better than I can imagine. Kicking people when they were rude and disrespectful.. shocker. I can’t wait for the next …
It's about to go down. I can't wait. Only two more books but I'm ready for a HEA. There has to be a way for her dad to stay. I will be ugly crying if I have to read that he died
