For the last five years, Nina has been turning tricks at a mob-run brothel to pay off her debt, but the Madam is willing to let her go free if she sees one last client, a mysterious recluse with a chilling reputation.
It was an offer she couldn't refuse. One more client, one more trick, and all her troubles would finally be over. Or would it be the beginning of a new unspeakable horror that could obliterate Nina's mind for good?

One of Dickson's best stories to date, and definitely has the most haunting and grotesque climax.
Anticipation of a possible terrible outcome slowly builds throughout the story, but there is always hope of an escape and happy ending for our 'good girl'. But Dickson holds back the happy endings and delivers the reader to the unthinkable! Dare you read it?
There are few people I take suggestions from when reading indie author's work. This one was one of the few. The Good Girls is maybe the scariest story I've read in a long time. Quite vivid, quite disturbing. Five stars.
This is the second book that I've read by this author. Her ability to paint a scene in my mind is amazing. So well done - the ending setting inside the mansion, eeew, shiver.
The opening scene was a little heavy-handed. Too many: "eyes like glaciers" "teeth like alligators" "mean as..." I suggest she cut down on this sentence format.
That is my only complaint. Overall an awesome and very creepy short story.
This short story is perhaps one of the best I've read in a long time. Very creepy, vivid, had me enthralled the entire way through. If you haven't read Allison Dickson, do yourself a favor and pick up this story and begin down the path of pure genius writing.
I thought this was a very well written, and pretty freaky short. I enjoyed the buildup to the ending. This story worked on all levels for me. Good Job!
The reason I titled this review Insane is because that is the only word that describes the happenings in this short story. Once you are sucked into the main characters, Nina, world you are captured until the story finishes. I have to admit when I started this story I didn't expect in my wildest thoughts it would take such a drastic and wild twist. This story takes you in to the depth of metal and sexual torture like no other I have read. When you start it you realize this is a story about a prostitute that wants to buy back her freedom by paying off her debts that she owes from making the wrong decisions in live and a person would think that would be dark enough to be able to build a hell of a horror around but this author takes this story in a maddening direction that leaves you with a feeling of fear and dread.
Great story!! A great read for horror fans of all kinds.
I thought I had added a review here when I posted my discussion of The Good Girls on my blog. Rather than re-writing a review, first I'm going to search here, to see if I have rated a different edition, or something else equally strange.
