It’s pure childhood nostalgia for me.

I loved the mystery of the aliens—it felt like a mini crime story, a little bit like Scooby-Doo. I especially loved the secret codes and playing around with them; I think it was a brilliant idea for kids! I’d love for my own child to read this series by Thomas Brezina one day.

Of course, rereading it now as an adult, it felt more funny and awkward than genius—but that made it even more charming. I was reading it in German for practice, so the fact that it wasn’t too difficult actually helped a lot.

I’m hoping one day my child will come running to me, yelling:
“Moooom! The alien wasn’t Frau Tinta in the end!!!”
