Welcome to Queenie's Omegaverse, a reverse harem novel!

After years of hiding from high-society alpha packs, the last thing Ophelia expects is to scent-match with the wealthiest and most influential pack of Arrow Cove. From the wrong side of the tracks, a clumsy omega waitress working at a strip club dedicated to helping omegas hide in plain sight, Ophelia doesn't even contemplate the possibility that she and the Constantine Pack could ever make a life together.

Ignoring the pain and longing from denying her mates' existence, everything changes one night when they scent her, too. No longer able to hide from them, Ophelia's four mates will stop at nothing to convince her they can be everything she needs.

But after a lifetime of watching high-society packs treat omegas like nothing more than simpering, fragile, flighty sex bots whose only purpose in life was procreation, Ophelia doesn't see how they'll ever come to terms or thrive together; they're too different. In this case, she believes wholeheartedly that opposites do not attract, and boy, does she fight that attraction.

RTC, but my thoughts about this are all over the place.

LIKES

👍🏾 FMC has a reason to stay away from the MMCs that didn’t involve the MMCs having done something.

👍🏾 FMC continued to work, dealing BC and heat suppressants and serving. She kept her apartment too. I liked that.

👍🏾 Asher and Enzo were my favorites.

👍🏾 FMC has a bit of spine.

👍🏾 FMC is virginal AND an MMC is virginal. Others become celibate once the FMC is present. Cool.

👍🏾 Red (FMC’s adoptive brother/Alpha) wasn’t immediately sold on the pack and knew it would be challenging.

DISLIKES

🛑 Not really compelling Body Betrayal Syndrome® used. Instead, FMC just, of course, caves in with no reason as to why.

🛑 Theo (MMC/Alpha) was forgiven entirely too soon. He didn’t deserve the FMC rolling over for him at all.

🛑 The politics in this was ass. Sorry, so all it takes is Sully (MMC/Pack Leader/Alpha) calling in some doctor and talking to some association head and now laws are changed? Yeaaaah, sure Jan. Sure.

🛑 One-note cast. I wish that the rest of the supporting cast was actually fleshed out and not treated as just The Found Family©. Give them personalities! Make Ophelia(FMC/omega) actually rely on them ON PAGE!

🛑 Only reason the pack chose each other is for sex and entertainment. I didn’t want that conclusion. I wanted to understand romantically, emotionally, and intellectually why they all chose each other…and it was for sex and entertainment.

🛑 Didn’t care that hands were put on the FMC by the MMCs and no one really cared about it.

🛑 The side drama was…weird. Like telenovela weird. It was word vomited to us about the trauma, so I wasn’t really caring about it. Had there been some of this on page? Yeah. I would’ve cared more.

🛑 Somehow, the MMCs deserve this chance at being a pack, but the Found Family© of the FMC scarcely consider her trauma. Ain’t that something?

🛑 FMC chased after the MMCs to this OFA gala to claim them. Girl. Why are you chasing anyone? The hell?? Why do the FMCs who did nothing wrong end up chasing the MMCs?

🛑 MMCs learn about omegas being a marginalized group through the FMC. Without her, they wouldn’t care about the struggles omegas go through. Wow. So brave.

WISHES

✨ The supporting cast was given on-page personality all around. Make them more wary of the Constantine pack and more fleshed out.

✨ FMC stops rolling over and actually commits to icing out the pack. Would’ve loved to see her be indifferent. I hated that she so easily chased after them, let them into her apartment, and couldn’t keep it together. Let her keep her spine! Let Theo and Sully be the ones who put in more effort. Instead of the FMC doing the embarrassing thing and chasing them, have the FMC see in the blogs of Theo and Sully with other omegas. Now Found Family© and FMC ice out the pack. FMC moves in with Red’s pack. Asher and Enzo are pissed at a truly remorseful Sully and Theo. And they gotta WORK for forgiveness.

✨ On page trauma about Alma. I skimmed when the whole story came out that was word-vomited. Don’t be shy, have this on-page! Show us Alma while she was alive or something.

2.5 ⭐️ read rounded down.

I was hoping this book had a FMC who (even though this is an OV universe) was strong and didn't capitulate to the MC's demands or fall victim to body betrayal syndrome.

The men threaten her with sexual violence; MMC's use nicknames against her, as a way to bully her; MMC's manipulate her into doing what they want regardless of her past or feelings; and too many unanswered plot devices.

I was let down. MMC's didnt have to work to gain her trust, they didnt have to work to earn her forgiveness. the FMC was just another example of a weak willed woman.

kinda gross message

I don’t really rate books ever, I’ll sequester them to the DNF pile and move on. I got to page 290 before I stopped. SPOILERS ahead.
There are lots of points that I enjoyed; obviously high function autistic Enzo, never ending dedication Asher, etc. but where I struggle is the hard life that the main character lived, where she attempted to do what she could (in her own way) for everyone around her. She would get suppressants and birth control for other omegas, she gave money to homeless when she had little, covered shift for her friends at work. All because of this terrible thing that happened to her sister who was basically a 16 year old child, taken advantage of (‘SA’ed according to the book) and then killed (but also apparently not killed by this other pack) this was a mission because born out of tragedy. But then the leader of her scent match pack forces her to move into his home against her will, has the impression that the FMC needs to start ‘doing things for the community’ because she a part of his prestigious pack (even though again, she already does actionable work for people in her community) and that she needs to let go of all of the bad things in her past so she can move on. We then move to fletcher who heads the corrupt omega academy where she is talked down too and told that her sister was consensual with her attackers who were 19 year old teenagers so apparently that makes it all right because she wanted to be rich and therefore it’s all cool. This other pack called her some poor loser and left her there afterwards admitting they used her and were only ever going to meet her in the future if she wanted to have sex while in heat. But that pack can still be in the omega academy roster because ‘they pay their fees’ never allowed to be approved for another omega but we couldn’t possibly get rid of them because they pay us money. So everything’s cools guys. Just a horribly corrupt system where the FMC is told to get over herself and her trauma because she ‘misremembered it’, with a pack leader that thinks little of her autonomy and places no value in what she does because it’s not what he wants, and other pack members who ignore all this because it means they have access to her while she’s close by in the house for them. I wouldn’t be bothered by this if it wasn’t a book about someone who is ardently independent striving to better the world. There is so much more that I would say if I wasn’t typing this on my phone at 1 in the morning but my feelings were strong and maybe someone else can avoid this gross feeling that I’m stuck with after reading this book. I won’t finish it because there isn’t anything that these characters can do that would be a redemption arch worth reading.

Fantastic!! I found this book randomly on Amazon and ended up discovering a brilliant omegaverse writer ☺️. Ophelia and her pack were wonderfully written. I love it when an omegaverse writer gives us a strong heroine. And the boys were 🔥 ♥️
To top it off this book was so well written. 💗 the cover. Nailed Ophelia perfectly.

Can’t wait to read about Imogene and the Dante pack.

If you like omegaverse I strongly recommend this book.

This story was decent but I felt like the author decided to take a completely different approach with the mmcs halfway through...

Enzo is the psycho mmc that everyone is shocked when he gets close to the fmc right off the bat. Theo is the resident man-wh0re that needs to get over himself before he ruins any chance he has with the fmc. Sully is the pack leader that holds back until the very end because the fmc isn't "ready for him" (he was my favorite and I wish we saw more of his dominance earlier on). And Asher is of course the first to fall since he met the fmc first and thought he had lost her forever. (okay.. maybe Asher was my favorite since he was the most loyal from the beginning.)

The thing that really made me not like this as much as I wanted to was Theo. He was SUCH an a**, and Ophelia just... forgave him? Because he stopped being an a** for one night? I was so confused when they were first intimate. The man was so freaking egotistical. He was still flirting with other women! Because that's his personality? I guess? I don't even think he ever apologized for it. And he was so dismissive of the fmc's worries. Ugh. Why do we always have to have an mmc that is so damn undeserving.

Yet Ophelia held back from forgiving Sully because he wanted her to live in their mansion instead of a dump where their neighbor was shooting a gun all willy nilly? How is him wanting better for her and protecting her worse than what Theo did?

It almost felt as if the author didn't feel like Theo being the "bad guy" anymore so they just kind of ignored everything he had done and made Sully the villain for literally no reason.

That being said.. I did really enjoy the conclusion when it came to Alma and the pack that hurt her. Although the conclusion with the accident again felt like the author changed their mind halfway through.

When it comes to the spice... it felt more like a tease than anything.

My biggest complaint (which I didn't let effect my rating) is that this book is set up really weird when reading on Kindle unlimited. The ENTIRE book is considered one chapter? Which just makes it a little frustrating if you are someone like me that likes to look back on what you have read. Especially when I put the book down and like to go back to look at who's POV I am reading.

Decent, not great.

I thought this story had a lot of potential but little follow through. Ophelia was a great feisty omega in hiding. She meets her scent match randomly and “loses him” a year later her scent match pack had spent months looking for her and then just kinda “gave up on her,” and started courting other Omegas- real winners there *eye roll*. Ophelia our Omega sees the society pages (her pack happens to be filthy rich and she’s poor as dirt) and decides they’re playboys (in the arm in another pretty Omega every night and decides they’re bad news) and will break her heart like her deceased sisters pack did to her.

A year goes by and once again they (all of them this time) stumble into one another but this time her (Ophelia’s) pack isn’t letting her go! She likes Asher (he found her first last year), he’s sweet, and I even liked Enzo who is a little screwy (like obsessive stalker like) lol, and I’ll admit to enjoying a little time out from m/m or m/m/m- there’s just been so much of it lately in RH. It was a nice little break, but I hated Theo he’s an entitled douche who even admits to being handsome and rich and not needing to chase after Omegas and is pissed that Ophelia hurt Asher by not coming forward! Are you kidding? They were carousing with omega socialites during the year she worked two jobs to keep from starving! Jerk! Then there’s Sully and unfortunately we just don’t get to know much about him - except he’s supposed to be the protector.

The biggest problem was there was like 0 backstory in the wealthy packs background, like how they met, what they REALLY DID, what brought them together etc. and once they bonded Ophelia there was even less time to get to know them all. Throw in a VERY VERY HASTILY THROWN TOGETHER ENDING, where Ophelia’s dead sisters scent-mates kidnap Ophelia because they want her to be Ava (crazy - we heard like to sentences about them before that crazy kidnapping) plus Mean Girl Bridgette (again we barely get to know the jealous witch) is in on the plan, and her punishment is done in one sentence, she’s a rich omega so she’ll probably go free for her part in the abduction !!Are You Freaking Kidding Me?!! It was soooo anticlimactic and unsatisfying! And Justice most definitely wasn’t served. In conclusion we got NO EPILOGUE! That’s a big mistake! The reader really needed one, if only to tie up loose ends, but definitely it would’ve been great to give Ophelia a REAL HEAT and end the story with a baby! Yup potential that was there but wasn’t reached at all! :(

Can we stop calling grown women "little one? It's gross and makes her sound like their child. The Alphas did nothing other than stalk her, manipulate her and bully her into doing what they wanted. Where was the courting? The gifts to show they actually want her and not just some random Omega. MMCs were bland and the FMC took very little persuasion before she's jumping into bed with one of them and letting him bond her? Heat Hesitation my a**.

I appreciate how the author changed things up a bit. The omega rejects them. The omega chooses when she’ll have a heat. The omega continues to work. Good stuff.

Unfortunately, the characters needed more depth. The book also needed another pass through editing.

📖 what I liked

absolutely nothing.

what I didn’t liked:

this is one of the worst omegaverse novels that I’ve ever read. the first 30 percent is absolutely comical. first we have all these time skips that don’t really add anything to the story. you can honestly skip them and miss nothing.

secondly, they meet and the fmc is the one blaming our mmc’s as if she wasn’t the one who rejected them. that completely makes the plot of this story null and void. there’s clearly a path being paved for grovelling but these men do not need to grovel because they were the ones who were rejected.

this story makes absolutely no sense and is clearly just trying to take multiple tropes and throw them into an ov and mark as some unique slightly dark romance. absolute trash.

Enzo is baby and is adorably obsessed with Ophelia. I think he was my favorite character and the way Ophelia accepted all of his neurotypical behavior immediately was precious. She perfectly understood his behavior because Enzo was Enzo and that was that.

Loved Asher as well, but found Sully and Theo to be lacking. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I really liked this book. Ophelia is a driven heroine, though I did get really frustrated at her behavior at certain points. By the end I liked seeing how the relationships grew. Enzo was my favorite :)

Poor Asher, mans was wallowing in grief for an entire year over her and he isn’t the first person she has sex/bonds with.

Theo did not deserve to be forgiven as easily he was, Enzo and Asher made more sense as the first to bond with her, not to mention Theo had really no reason to be as mad at her as he was? Asher would’ve rightfully been the one to either be upset or hurt by her the most. And again Asher should’ve been the first alpha she bonded with. Sully was forgettable, I truly forgot he was even part of the pack and again his motivations for being mad were dumb! The only pack member who had reasons to be hurt and upset with her was Asher!

Justice for Asher he deserves better than Ophelia and the pack (with the exception of Enzo)

Reallllly slow to start. I didn’t like Ophelia, and I can’t put my finger on exactly why, I just found her character horribly annoying. I also didn’t like it when the MC is on so many drugs all the time. It just bothers me. Enzo is the only intriguing one of her pack, but it’s not enough for me to continue. Nothing set this book apart from all the other omegaverse books out there.

The couple: Asher/Enzo/Theo/Sully and Ophelia

Romance trope: omegaverse; rh
Series: Queenie's Omegaverse
Length: 310 pages

Plot: Ophelia is an omega from the wrong side of town. One night when she's out on the bridge, she encounters her scent match. But why would she want to be tied to a rich snobby pack from the other part of town? She doesn't and so she disappears for a year. A chance encounter will bring them back together though and she'll have to make some tough decisions.

Commentary: There was a lot going on in this book but I think the intersection of the plots was done well. Ophelia and her community are working on omega rights the best they can. Predictably, her rich boy alphas can't understand why that might even be necessary. I mean, there are the omega centers that take care of the omegas, right? Why worry about things like birth control and rights and silly things like that? There's also the plot of Ophelia's sister and what happened to her, which dovetails with the introduction of the bad guys.

Aside from that, we have the intersecting personalities of the alphas. Asher was of course the sweetest. He was the one who first encountered Ophelia and the one who really directed their search, such as it was. Enzo was the devoted one who never wavered in his devotion. Sully was...in charge? He was a little personality-less. And then there was Theo. He was everything that annoyed Ophelia about "guys like them" and I can't believe she gave in to him as fast as she did. He was rich, handsome, and spoiled, a playboy who could have changed that image in order to spare his omega some heartache, but didn't. He didn't try to understand her pov as a poor omega. He was angry without any introspection. He really made things harder for her even though he knew she was their scent-match. He was awful and I don't understand what she saw in him besides his looks. Ophelia wasn't perfect but she certainly never flirted with other men where her mates could see it.

This is a very just OK kind of book. The drama is low stakes, since the FMC comes across as a teenager whose understanding of politics and society comes directly from Tumblr and all the conflict stems from her being unable to act like an adult or have an adult's understanding of the world.

Everything is ten times more dramatic than it needs to be. She doesn't just provide prescription pills to her clients, she sneaks around in the dark for hours, because of course drug deals need to be done like that. Nobody ever got their semi-legal healthcare during the day (my god what if she's caught with BIRTH CONTROL in her backpack?!), and it just wouldn't make sense for the omegas who need it to go to a central location to minimize the chances of the distributor being caught. No, she has to visit every one of them personally, in the middle of the night, while dressed like a ninja.

Don't even get me started on her vague objections (and almost immediate capitulation) to the MMCs. I'm all for eating the rich, but I guess once you realize you ARE rich, that all changes and you just settle into having servants and a pool without the slightest qualm. Oh you're happy to spend mega bucks on strippers though. Good thing you don't know any homeless who could have used what's implied to be hundreds, if not thousands of dollars for a single hour's entertainment. It also turns out that the dystopian omega organization is actually really nice and couldn't give a shit that she's been defiantly shunning them all these years (for no freaking reason except a misunderstanding).

What peeved me off the most, however, was the presentation of sexual politics. FMC is righteously angry every time one of her alphas so much as glances at another woman, even retroactively. How DARE they have talked to another woman a year ago.
Yet she has had multiple partners, has multiple close alpha friends, works in a strip club which is touted as being 'sex positive", and her alphas are expected to suck it up. I guess all that sex positivity means she's into short leashes.

The prose needs a good, hard edit as the comma splicing was driving me barmy and there were multiple other mistakes, like possessive apostrophes used in the wrong place almost every page.

The style seemed to fluctuate between overly poetic lines and flat exposition in a way that was difficult to get into. Not to be even more picky than usual but the author should look into using formatting software as well, as it's annoying to have a modern e-book without chapter links.

I did enjoy this a little because, honestly, I read omegaverse for the tropes and this had plenty of them. Unfortunately there was almost no satisfaction or payoff. The pack did nothing wrong and continued to do nothing wrong. The dystopian omega org did nothing wrong and kept at it. The FMC was whiny and had no personality beyond 'contrary' and eventually deigned to be wealthy and worshipped by hot guys while sneering at every omega who made different choices to hers (yet ended up in the same place).

It's another one of those books where I have some hope that the author will put out something decent one day, if they keep trying but they just aren't there yet.

What a great book when it comes to rejecting your scent matches. When you have a poor omega who only thinks bad about rich Alpha's and the community they live in after what happened to your teen sister and family.

You not only read what the Alpha's go through in this book, but what happens when the omega see rag magazines that make her believe that they aren't looking or wanting her at all, through their continued dating. Or so it seems.

Tropes:
- Billionaire Alpha Pack
- Poor Omega
- Omegaverse
- Scent Match
- Rejected Mates
- Loss of Omegas Family
- Forced Proximity
- You Only See What You Want To
- 2x Cinnamon Roll Alpha's
- 1 Dominating Pack Leader
- 1 OCD Quiet Alpha
- Exploring Sexuality w/ Omega
- Bonding
- Knotting
- Heat Surpressants Sold Illegally

Ophelia found her scent match pack last year. After an accident that caused her to fall into the river, she thinks it's for the best that she forgets all about them. The wealthiest, most influential Pack in Arrow Cove, The Constantine Pack.

The Constantine Pack have been looking for their omega for a long time. Then Lucas finds their scent match on a bridge one night, and then she gone. They searched for her and the river for months, but no luck. Sully, the pack leader thinks it's time they start to move on, but Lucas isn't having it.

Agreeing to work an event at the big omega school for a friend, Ophelia thinks there is no chance she'll be recognized with all the scent blockers she takes. After running into Theo and saying his name, he suddenly can't stop looking at her. Him and his pack chase Ophelia out of the event where Lucas automatically recognizes her and that she's alive.

The thing about Ophelia is that she isn't going to now down to these wealthy Alpha's. She's worked too hard in her life, and she knows what happens around these rich packs. The thing is, this Pack isn't going anywhere. Even if they have to sleep outside, her not safe at all building at night. They've wanted their omega for a long time and will do just about anything to get her.

I enjoyed this book, but I wish there would have been more to Sully and Ophelia throughout the book. They didn't get together until the very end of the book.

I know that everything wasn't like what Ophelia thought, but I thought Theo needed to grovel more for his actions at rejecting her after they met. He seemed really into her when he saw her and chased after her. But once he figured out who she was, he rejected her until she told her story.

I did have some pretty great laughs at Theo's nicknames or pet names for Ophelia. I also thought that Enzo's brothers should have stood up for him more on the name calling by others.

I wish her heart would have been more recognizable at the end. Most books you can tell the omega is in heat, and Ophelia just want sure and in her right mind, but she was in heat?

This was a pretty good book, and the Constantine Pack got to see what they didn't know when it came to the poor side of town and omega's. I didn't feel like they were a pack though. There wasn’t many parts where they were together besides in the car. Even at events, these Alpha's seemed to not be around each other. I didn't feel a big connection between them
I would still recommend reading this OV book.

really enjoyed it ❤️

a new author to me … and i will certainly be looking out for more of their books
… a fun and sexy read ❤️

⭐️ because the author deserves kudos for taking the time and energy to write this - (but please don’t make me read it again) … however correct spelling / grammar / punctuation / professional proof reading and editing are a necessity all writers need to fully embrace like a long lost and greatly desired lover …

⭐️⭐️ close and yet so far for … loved the concept just not the delivery …for various reasons … but most likely because of glaringly obvious proofreading and editing problems and also … one if not all of the main characters made me want to slap them (and not in a good / sexy fun way) …. but i am sure some other readers will love it… just not me ..

⭐️⭐️⭐️ things that make you go hmmmm …. but not : oh my god yes give me more … and because professional proof reading and editing of a book are essential for any story to flow smoothly …. still worth the time to read … who knows you might love it …

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ definitely worthy of songs of praise and numerous re reads …
but not quite a 5⭐️ simply because of minor editing/ spelling / grammar / wrong names or physical descriptions / story line issues … (all things that are a pet hates of mine and make me grumpy) …. which interrupted the flow of the story and forced me back into reality…. but i loved it enough to search out and read everything else written by the author

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ gah … I’ve found the meaning of life and couldn’t stuff the story into my greedy brain fast enough …. loved it so much i will willingly make snacks / give massages / oversee human sacrifices if it helps the author ( who is a true god/ goddess of story telling and worthy of worship and copious amounts of adulation ) write more books immediately … so i can buy them and hoard them like a wanna be dragon ….
in other words … drop everything and read this book right now and you can thank me later 😁

This book was most definitely the worst OV book I’ve ever read, and definitely in my list of worst books ever in general. There’s so much bad about this book that I don’t even have the time nor interest to name them all.
I honestly can’t stand writers like this and obviously books like this.
I also really should’ve read the writers bio before buying this book because it already says so much and gives me so many clues and confirms a lot that I was already thinking about when it comes to this book and how it was written the way it was.
It was just completely disjointed and all over the place and made me feel like I had ADD even though I don’t while reading it. The characters personalities were all over the place, the reasoning for why they did things was all over the place. The story itself was all over the place. It was just a hot mess y’all.
I didn’t feel any chemistry really from the characters, even though the writer tried to push so hard for it.
I couldn’t stand the leading lady and her whiny incessant need to be the way she is which obviously is basically just probably an extension from how the writer is and her own personal beliefs (eyerolls). The writer herself probably doesn’t even understand that characters and women in general have layers y’all we can be strong, but also vulnerable just as we can be in independent yet needy at times. Wanting and or needing a man does not make you any less woman or any less strong. It just makes you human. I don’t know why the narrative nowadays is that women don’t need any men for anything and not want for anything and should not be vulnerable at all, which is just stupid as hell cause if you are strong woman, you can be all those things and still maintain your own strength and who you are. Anyways, I’m not even gonna go there.
It was just a shit show all round and I didn’t have it in me to force myself to continue to read this shit because luckily I don’t have to do anything. I don’t want to.

Ophelia’s story in Heat Hesitation is a steamy, slow-burn emotional ride through rejection, resilience, and rediscovery, wrapped up in Queenie’s Omegaverse where fated mates and fierce heroines rule. This book leans hard into class divide tension and internalized trauma, making it as much about healing as it is about claiming love.
Ophelia is instantly relatable—tough, cynical, and clawing her way through life as a waitress in a club that helps omegas disappear in a world stacked against them. She’s nobody’s delicate flower, and she’s long given up on the idea of happily-ever-afters with powerful alphas. So when she scent-matches with the Constantine Pack—the literal embodiment of wealth, privilege, and everything she distrusts—she does what she does best: runs.
But the Constantine alphas? They’re not giving up. And the tension between Ophelia’s ingrained distrust and their soft persistence is chef’s kiss. Each of her four mates brings something different to the table—gentleness, intensity, care, and yes, sizzling heat—and watching them try to earn her trust makes the bond that eventually forms feel earned, not fated.
What really shines here is Ophelia’s character arc. She doesn’t fall into love. She fights it tooth and nail, convinced she’ll lose herself or get hurt again. Her vulnerability is raw and real, and when she finally allows herself to believe she could be cherished, it’s like watching the sun rise. The romantic tension is threaded beautifully with emotional growth, making the spicy scenes feel all the more intimate and earned.
This is a why-choose romance through and through, bursting with knotty omegaverse goodness, alpha devotion, and a fierce FMC who takes no nonsense. Expect toe-curling spice, found family feels, and a pack that slowly, beautifully earns their omega’s trust.

This was an easy read with some deeper points made about judgement and understanding how other people live. The struggles that poorer communities face and how these issues need to be brought to light. Yes, it's wrapped up in an omegaverse but the points are still valid even though they weren't discussed too deeply.

Ophelia is an omega who lives on the poorer side of town and refuses to join the Omega Finishing Academy after a terrible tragedy kills her whole family. She has learnt how to take care of herself and not rely on an alpha pack to look after her. One night she meets her scent-match who also happens to be one of the wealthiest alpha packs in the city. However, she flees and disappears for over a year, fearing that she'll be forced to bond with them. They finally find her again and begin trying to convince her to give them a chance.

The beginning of the book was interesting and it was nice to see how Ophelia was fighting the good fight in her neighbourhood. Trying to make things easier for other unbonded omegas and fight against the rules of the OFA. However, things really slowed down for most of the rest of the book, especially when the alpha pack start trying to woo her. It felt like the author got a bit bored with the story as well as large portions of time were glossed over to show the passing of time.
The men felt two dimensional and the tension that was building up with Sully was such an anticlimax and felt quite rushed. It was almost like the author was reaching her allotted number of pages and she hadn't yet written about Sully's bond.

I was keen to try the next book in the series about Imogen but now I'm not rushing out to get it.

2.5 ⭐️’s, brilliant start, followed by epic flop.

So, the first part of this, to 2/3’s almost, was really good. At least a 4 ⭐️.

Then it started going down hill.
It was almost like the author had started out with one idea, then got impatient and around 70%, just wanted to finish, so changed plans, and simplified things.

Spoilers 🚨🚨🚨🚨

The author justified what came close to statutory rape, and victim blamed.
A 16 yr old female, with four 19 yr old guys (all Alphas).
But supposedly she is equally to blame???

At 16, of course she is arrogant, sexually curious, and thinks she has all the answers.
At 19, they should know that she’s too young, and not take advantage of her.

For young adults to have sex with a virgin 16 yr old, in a pool house, is just flat out wrong!!

There’s also more, all of which just makes it flat out icky.

Then there’s the change in direction for the car accident, where we are to accept a recovering alcoholic is suddenly casually drinking, in front of his family, at a family event…

Yeah that’s not believable!

The speed with which the FMC went from fighting the romance, to suddenly being not just okay with it, but spouting ‘I love you’s’.
Again not believable.

The acceptance and easy forgiveness of asshole behaviour, after the setup of a strong, kick-ass female.
Highly disappointing and frustrating.

This had so much awesome potential, and just epically failed after such a talented beginning.

Will try one more book, see if they learn from this, and all those who share my conclusions.

Ophelia is not a fan of high society Alpha Packs, the Omega Finishing Academy, or the rules placed against Omegas in society. She blames them for losing her family and has dedicated her life to helping out the Omegas on the wrong side of the city. So, when she discovers she is a scent match to the wealthiest, most desirable Pack in the city, she panics. She has no plans to be their dirty little secret, producing their Alpha heirs while they continue their society life with perfect little debutantes.

I loved the premise of the story and it had great potential. However, it needed more description overall, especially with relationship development. For example, one of my favorite parts of any Omegaverse story is the trip to the nesting store. I want all the details and this one only skimmed the surface. Pillows were mentioned and so much was purchased that they needed a delivery—no further details. Make me feel like I am there. I want all the spoiling. I want to know the theme she's going with, the color palette, the textures. I want to be able to smell the candles and see the fairy lights. The same with the relationships. Develop each relationship, and make me fall in love with each harem member. Don't skip out on the good stuff. I know everyone wants the steamy heat scene but it's so much better if the anticipation builds as the connections are made. Don't tell me they are hot for each other and there's affection, make me feel it. I want the complete experience.

Hearts clashing

This is my first time reading a book by Birdie D'Avo, stoked to try a new author in the omegaverse genre. This was a fun, slightly intense read, but it does have some triggers, so be sure to check those ladies.

Ophelia went on her way with life, working hard and caring for other omega's who were hiding from the issues of harsh alpha's and a lax system meant to protect those its laws were made for. After losing her family after a traumatic event, finding her own scent match was the last thing she desired.

After disappearing for a year, luck pulls her right into the throws of her mates once more, but their bond is lacking the trust and faith from both parties, making this a drama filled endevore on its own. Even more tragic is finding out that her hate for the system and the memories of her family may be more interlocked and twisted than she recalls.

There were a few moments when reading this story , where I felt deflated by the repetition of word fillers, but I loved each lead and appreciate how the story was woven into such a heart-felt tale. The story had no huge surprise involving the villain/s, but I felt like it was meant to be up front and brought more focus towards Ophelia's past and how she became stronger.

I don’t think I have hated MMC’s more than I do these ones. They are fucking awful. They allow her no time whatsoever to adjust to being their mate and instead hold everything she does against her and then try to manipulate her feelings. They seem to give her options when really all they are doing is manhandling her into a decision she wants by taking advantage of her kindness and willingness to help others. If they opened their mouth and tried to just verbalize their thoughts to her and allow her in turn to verbalize hers, they might have had a better relationship.

I think the worst part is forcing her to confront those responsible for twisting the narrative of what happened to her sister and her family and then showing no sympathy or understanding for why she might want to stay away; again they force her to get involved in making a change by taking advantage of her kindness because if she doesn’t help others will continue to suffer. News flash my guys you practically own them, maybe try making the changes yourself.

I understand books dealing with sensitive topics like poverty, prejudice, human rights but let’s start having male characters who also care about that shit too. I had to skim the last 20% because I was so over it.

Enzo really carried this book for me he's the only one I had zero grievances with Asher was my second favorite. Theo if you forget how he acted was really likeable but... man tried to make her jealous and his flirtatious ways makes him come across like a man whore. I could understand to start why he was upset and I've read books with mmc's who acted that way the difference is they were filled with regret for how they acted and apologized Theo did not. It felt like Enzo had to explain for everyone and that wasn't his job his packmates should've explained themselves. Sully was manipulative. plain and simple. I could see the safety concerns where he was coming from but how he went about it just pissed me off and made me really not like him. He was another one he never apologized! One day they werent talking then it was like all was forgiven. The silent treatment was not satisfying enough. The fmc working with OFC pissed me off because regardless of that one conversation I would not have worked with them I try to take them down. Maybe I'm wrong for that but I hold grudges if they tried to cover up the truth behind my sisters death regardless of reason one conversation would not change anything.

Disappointing

This book started out so well. Finally a book about A/B/O that had a strong omega who knew her own mind and set limits and demanded the interested Alphas respect them. It was actually interesting........right up until the last chapter, when it fell to pieces. And instead of staying strong and showing that this was a different story, the author had the omega turn into a mindless sex doll (who just rolled over and forgot everything to please the men) and the Alphas into complete arrogant cavemen who devolved total a**holes, so proud of themselves for just being Alpha and pushing her around. So boringly typical. Completely ruined the whole book for me. WHY couldn't it stay where they were actually becoming a healthy group, with a strong omega? I mean, the last two men (of course, the two biggest a**holes) bonded her without waiting for it to be HER choice. After making such a big deal throughout the rest of the book about it ALL BEING HER CHOICE. Now I'm sorry I read it. And I won't be reading anymore from this author. Sad that what started out so well, had to end so depressingly disappointing..
