This horror novella concerning the Rougarou (Werewolf) contains subject material that includes violence, abusive, and/or graphic scenes and descriptions some readers may find disturbing or triggering.
Howl of the Hunted by J. T. Patten. You sly writer you. You had me thinking that this book was one of those short Novellas. A short novella that only covers the basics of a previous novel. Ha! I was wrong.
My fellow readers first I would like to apologize for my miss interpretation and second I wholeheartedly would like to say is thank you.Thank you. Thank you to the writer.
Your book has pulled me out of my reading slump that I have been in for quite some months now. That’s how good your book is. This book was so awesome readers. There are things in here that was unbelievable and may blow your mind. The twist and turns from the suspense is unimaginable, but creepy and surreal.
During the transformations I kept yelling run, but no one would listened to me. And the snake. Ain’t no way in the hell that I’m going to let a snake get a one up on me. I’m going to have a mallet or a shotgun, because baby- I’m bashing some heads in. That pit was a setup and that’s all I have to say about it.
Now let’s talk about if it comes down between a bear or a wolf. Well it sure as hell ain’t going to be the bear. I’m out of there. I know not to run, but I know how to deflect the attention off of me and climb the nearest tree. As I was saying Larry tried to make a life for himself and his family.
Being married to Gwen is a handful. This was an exciting and an amazing book readers. I will say there were some dark things that took me by surprise, but after these moments I was able to continue with the book. I believe that the writer displayed great talent in the imagination and in the creativity spectrum. The plot was brilliant, and connected with the main characters objective to the story.
The story had passion, grit, heat, anger, fear, and longing for. Although this book was written a little on the dark side, I did enjoy reading it. The writer did a phenomenal job. I’m definitely excited to see more outstanding writing coming from this writer and I will be looking forward to reading his superior work. I give this book two snaps and a— Gwen… Girl when you’ve got something good learn not to look for the bad qualities that are not there, and keep your mouth shut.

Mysteries of the Bayou
Just like how JT’s earlier works rekindled my interest in the thriller genre, this latest work of his has me hooked on the supernatural genre as well! The second in the New Orleans Haunts series, Patten explores the depths of the legends that those who call the bayou home have talked about since their first settlements. Typical of JT’s work the dark elements swarm around you as the main character L.J. wrestles with the spiritual and natural forces of the swamp. You would be a “couyon” if you did not pick up this novella and immerse yourself in the mysteries of The Big Easy.

Violence Rating: 3/5 - Full Moon Frenzy
This book is not a novel, but a novella, and I don’t usually read novellas mostly because they fail to bring enough depth to the characters and the story, feeling rushed and lacking a certain something. But this is just WOW. This is perfection. I loved it so much. A hidden gem in the horror werewolf genre.
There is a trigger warning in the book, but I’ll reiterate the obvious. Yes, the book contains certain scenes that some people may find disturbing or offending and I’m not talking about the kills.
When I read the first few lines of the book I knew I’m hooked and I’ll enjoy it, because the writing style is alluring and gripping. The scenes are so beautifully described and set, to the point of becoming immersive. I felt like I was there in the small town, like I was part of it.
The dialogue and interactions are realistic, the characters are relatable, to some degree, as most are morally gray and display certain unpleasant characteristics or principles, but I think that’s exactly what made the story more real and beautiful. There’s a learning lesson in there, a karmic judgment in the end that felt just right and complete, a full circle, neverending. There are some plot twists that left me turning the pages, frantically.
There’s a lot of supernatural happening in there, spiritual concepts, mysticism, and while I’m not a big fan of too much supernatural when it comes to werewolf stories, I savored every part of it in this book, it only enriched the whole werewolf lore.
It’s absolutely incredible how a short story like this can build up a world and give characters enough personality and dimension to care about them, whether loving or hating them. And what an original story this was. I went through my fair share of werewolf books and this is very different from anything I read before, perhaps because it dug into the supernatural more than other stories, entwining the whole lycan legend with the mystic world.

Awesome
I was so happy he was gonna get a happy ending.But then 2 hunters who were in his group decided to show up and kill his family his pupped and his wife mate.But overall it was good.It was a good book.He was like a lot of hunters greeting to get the big big game and then find out that he was turning to aware wolf

Pleasantly Surprised!
I have been on somewhat of a "Supernatural" kick as of late and have found out that they seem to come in two or three types. Very Good, Somewhat worth reading and absolute crap. I Very Much enjoyed reading this book and Classify it as Very Good and I am lo forward to checking into other works by J.T. Patten.

A great night’s read – but leave the lights on!
Author JT Patten continues his solid stature as a master of dark novels with this second volume of the New Orleans Haunts series – HOWL OF THE HAUNTED that follows the initial novella BROTHERS OF BLOOD. His studies in Counter Terrorism, foreign languages, and Strategic Intelligence, in addition to his skills in crime investigations provide a solid, and credible, platform from which to devise his popular thrillers.
Set in the Louisiana bayous haunted by the Rougarou creature in a space where both the living and the dead dwell in tandem, L.J. Talbot enters. The key to this tale is L.J.’s mistaken ploy to reveal the secret of conjuring to a shady criminal, the possible effects of this move, and the incipient complications and challenges of his action.
