Marie Rydzynski was born on March 28 in West Germany to Polish parents. She moved to America at the age of four. For an entire year, Marie and her family explored the eastern half of the country before finally settling in New York.
Marie swears she was born writing, "which must have made the delivery especially hard for my mother." From an early age, Marie's parents would find her watching television or tucked away in some private place, writing at a furious pace. "Initially, I began writing myself into my favourite shows. I was a detective on '77 Sunset Strip,' the missing Cartwright sibling they never talked about on 'Bonanza' and the 'Girl from U.N.C.L.E.' before there was a 'Girl from U.N.C.L.E.,' not to mention an active participant in the serialized stories of 'The Mickey Mouse Club.'" Marie began to write her first romance novel when she was 11 years old, although she claims that, at the time, she didn't even realize it was a romance! She scribbled off and on, while dreaming of a career as an actress.
Marie was only 14 when she first laid eyes on the man she would marry, truly her first love, Charles Ferrarella. During her days at Queens College, New York, acting started to lose its glamour as Marie spent more and more time writing. After receiving her English degree, specialising in Shakespearean comedy, Marie and her family moved to Southern California, where she still resides today.
After an interminable seven weeks apart, Charles decided he couldn't live without her and came out to California to marry his childhood sweetheart. Ever practical, Marie was married in a wash-and-wear wedding dress that she sewed herself, appliqués and all. "'Be prepared' has always been my motto,"the author jokes. This motto has been stretched considerably by her two children, Nikky and Jessi, "but basically, it still applies," she says.
In November of 1981, she sold her first novel for Harlequin. Marie, who now has written over 150 novels, has one goal: to entertain, to make people laugh and feel good. "That's what makes me happy," she confesses. "That, and a really good romantic evening with my husband." She's keeping her fingers crossed that her reader's enjoy reading her books as much as she enjoyed writing them.

He did not want to be responsible for scaring her in any way.
Brett Murphy owns Forever, Texas's only bar. He raised up his two younger brothers when his parents died. Now he's just inherited a ranch.
Alisha Cordell is a doctor used to working in the Big City. But when she finds her rich doctor fiancé having sex with another woman (and she knows it's not the first time) she knows it is time for a change of scenery and she fills the need in Forever for another doctor, vowing never to trust a good-looking man again.
Turns out the only apartment available in Forever is right above Brett's bar. Can Brett prove to Alisha that he's a man who can be trusted?

My favorite romance heroes are this type of hero. Patient, kind, funny, good with consent and concerned with making the heroine feel at ease.
Ferrarella has definitely become a better writer - I enjoyed her previous book, The Cowboy's Christmas Surprise, and I enjoyed this one. She has become better at crafting plots and creating a little bit of tension.
I love stories where a distrustful woman who has sworn off all men has to be slowly coaxed into trusting and loving again by a patient and slow-moving man. <3
Now, Ferrarella (while vastly improved from books 1-8) is still not delivering four or five star material here. I don't want to get your hopes up or give you false expectations. But we DO feel a spark between these characters and Ferrarella did provide me with some romantic moments. Like when Alisha and Brett are going to leave to see Brett's newly inherited ranch together.
There was a stillness in her voice that instantly alerted him. Were those nerves he detected? Was she nervous about spending time alone with him? Was the very thing he was looking forward to frightening her for some reason?
He'd begun to think of her as fearless, especially after he'd witnessed the confrontation between Alisha and Nathan's wife. Maybe at bottom, when it came to personal matters, she wasn't quite so fearless after all.
He did want her to enjoy herself as much as he just wanted to enjoy having her with him today. But he wasn't going to enjoy himself if she was uneasy during the whole time.
"Would you feel better if I had one or both of my brothers come along?"
Ay, what a mensch. *Carmen draws little hearts in her notebook*

Tl;dr - See? Even when a series is descending into total crap and you are completely ready to swear off the author forever, sometimes they make a comeback and surprise you. I actually enjoyed entries #9 and #10. I think Ferrarella has become a better author over the years. However, I want to stress that she still isn't up to five-star or even four-star levels here.

In Her Forever Cowboy by Marie Ferrarella, doctor Alisha Cordell needs to get out of the city and of the hospital she works in. Not only is it bad enough that she has caught her fiancé cheating on her there, but he was not even repentant. She knew he had cheated before, but seeing it first hand sure puts things into perspective.
She can no longer work with him and know that everybody is talking behind her back about what happened. So when she sees an ad on the board requesting any doctor who might be willing to help the lone doctor in a small town, she is willing to take it, even if it is only temporary and she will be counting down the days until she can leave. Good to get the beginning of the story, read the next two in the series first.
