On the dusty outskirts of Vegas, there’s a down and dirty saloon where all sorts of lethally charming—and genuinely dangerous—men carouse to seduce the women who happen to venture inside on their way to and from Sin City.
After Molly Preston flees a dead-end job with a lecherous boss, she finds herself in even hotter water after one of her best friends makes the wrong bet in a poker game with a sexy bad boy drifter in a backroom of the Rough & Tumble.
The man’s name is Cash. And he offers Molly an indecent proposal—one hot night with him—that could erase her friend’s debt to him in one fell swoop. She wants to say yes, even if this electrifying man seems just as unsafe as he is tempting.
One night becomes two...then more...and soon Molly is road tripping with Cash in the desert and exploring boundaries she never knew existed. But will indulging in this kind of pleasure leave her “normal” life in the dust?
A long time ago, in a land far, far away (Milwaukee , WI , St. Luke's Hospital), Chris Marie Green (also writing as Crystal Green) joined the world. While moving to Southern California, Kentucky , then back to California , she amused herself by writing poetry and short stories featuring the ultimate Alpha males--Superman and Indiana Jones. Later, after graduating with a B.A. in English from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo , Chris decided to become a professional writer.
While she wrote, Chris worked as an eighth-grade teacher, but resigned in 2002 to pursue writing full time. Her critique partners, Sheri WhiteFeather and Judy Duarte are instrumental in her endeavors. Without these talented authors, writing would be a lonely road.
Chris is pumped about her Vampire Babylon series for Ace, which is best described as "noir fantasy-mysteries" featuring a vamp hunter. The first five books, NIGHT RISING, MIDNIGHT REIGN, BREAK OF DAWN (which compose the first trilogy), plus A DROP OF RED and THE PATH OF RAZORS (the first two books in the second trilogy) have already been released. The sixth, DEEP IN THE WOODS, will be on shelves on March 2, 2010. A Vampire Babylon-related novella was released in an anthology entitled FIRST BLOOD. (Note: The Vampire Babylon series uses trilogy arcs to tell one basic story, much like the way JK Rowling used seven books that didn’t solve every plot thread book-by-book to tell Harry Potter’s story. While each individual novel focuses on a central mystery that’s solved by the end, the three books together build character and mythology arcs/mysteries until everything culminates in the third book. Each trilogy repeats this pattern.)
Chris is also writes Silhouette Special Editions ("home and hearth" tales of redemption and community) and Harlequin Blazes (steamy fantasies), and whenever she can, she travels, including backpacking trips in Europe and road trips in America . She also enjoys yoga, hiking, and way too much movie-watching.
2.5 - Cheap talk and loose women are permitted in this establishment. Stars.
It always saddens me to write a review for a book that I had high expectations for. The synopsys for Rough and Tumble offers the reader a down and dirty saloon where all sorts of lethally charming—and genuinely dangerous—men carouse to seduce the women who happen to venture inside on their way to and from Sin City.
Unfortunately, I found it more Days of our Lives than Sons of Anarchy, the over the top girly chat, the underwhelming characters (didn't really like any of them), and the general mish-mash of the writing, cheesy one-liners and POV's just didn't work for me I am afraid.
I actually quite liked Molly at the beginning of the book, but as it progressed I just wanted to give her a shake, tell her to grow up, and strap on a pair. From the handsy boss, to her leach of a sister, and then forgiving her friend for losing her in a bet with a man in a back room poker game without so much as a whimper, it just made me think - Door Mat.
"She finally let her hair down."
I am always going to struggle to enjoy a book when I am not enamoured with the H/h and Cash just didn't do it for me either, he didn't really come over as 'tough as nails' and I didn't really feel any connection between him and Molly. The building of their relationship needed to be the main focus of the book for me, and not the drama with her friends and everyone else, it detracted the focus from their story.
The story did pick up a bit around the 35% mark, and the end was pretty good, but by then it was more a case of 'too little, too late'.

To sum it up, this book is boring. Might be the most boring book I read this year with characters that act like a bunch of teenager, can't feel the chemistry between h/H and boring story. I also skip some parts, because it's make me yawn.
Molly (can't take a heroine seriously with that name. Always remind me of Molly Weasley from Harry Potter *shudder*) is a boring heroine, too much have "snow queen" archetype, try so hard to be "good girl gone bad", have a backbone in the first chapter, but back to her doormat state after that. Her relationship with the hero, Beaugrad "Cash" Campbel, imo, feel forced. Their sex also left me cold, since I can't connect to them both. The angst and drama make me rolling my eyes. I will not said that this one is erotica, just steamy. Have a word such as pussy, slut, whore, etc didn't mean your story will be labeled as erotica. I expect scorching hot sex scenes, together with a believable chemistry and a blistering sexual tension, alas, Ms Green failed in this.
One character that make me pissed off is Arden, Molly's friend that addicted to gambling and it's her fault in the first place because she offer Molly as part of her debt after she lose to Cash in the game. Yeah, such a friend Molly has. Good thing she have Sofie, another friend. Even Sofie sometimes act too much like a mother hen, she also the character that I can relate and liked.
This is the first time I read Ms Green's book and I'm very sad that I can't enjoy Rough and Tumble.
Note: I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I really wanted to like this book more. It had great potential, but I felt the interactions between the female characters were jumbled and I never really got the sense that the girls were truly good friends. I was so perturbed by Arden and her gambling and how her friends just allowed her to stay and gamble without saying, enough is enough, we're leaving with or without you. They just enabled her habit. I did enjoy the last two chapters of the book more so than the previous chapters. I loved the few times when Beau "Cash" got possessive of Molly and the scene in the parking lot outside the bar. I wish there had been more interactions like that throughout the story. My heart clenched in my chest when Molly was left behind at the hotel. I really felt the tension of the situation and wanted Beau to turn around and realize what he had in her. Ultimately, I was pleased with the ending and how their relationship progressed. I think if there had been less of the girls and more of the relationship with Molly and Cash I'd have given the book a higher rating. As it stands, I give it 2 1/2 to 3 stars
2.5/3 out of 5 Stars This story could have been so good. The premise was hot and sexy and I was so ready to start reading this one.
I actually liked reading Cash’s point of view and his intentions which were not always good. I was not sure what to think about him at first but I loved that the author left that uncertainty. The heroine’s friends mostly annoyed me. They were everywhere. Molly is a 30 year old woman. Does she need to constantly be by her friends? I understand they were on a trip, but it was too much like junior high. I felt like there were more scenes with Molly and her friends then with Molly and Cash. I am getting so tired of these “friends” that think that they can only have a good time if men are involved. And that is any men.
A woman, Molly, meets a stranger at a bar. Her friend loses at poker and this stranger, Cash, makes a proposition to Molly. He will forgive her friend’s debt if she comes with him. I loved it. I loved how it all started and how the proposition came but then it took a turn where I could no longer stay connected to Cash and Molly. I felt like once the proposition happened everything else fell flat. Like really there was nothing else to tell except for the sex scenes.
A copy was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.
There is no way to describe Cash except for the fact I loved him, "he lowered the bra, then leaned his arm on the back of the seat again, close to her, letting the lingerie dangle from his fingers. "So tell me, Molly," he said, his eyes gleaming, "how much for your panties?" He's an impatient man, "take off the effing bedcovers and get on the bed, Molly." His tone was frayed. God knew how much worse it was going to get if she kept trying to blue-ball him." I loved the moments they had after naughty time, "he cupped her butt - no, her a** - giving it a squeeze. "As fast as you are," he said, "I need a little more time to get back in fighting shape." When he patted her butt cheek, she jolted, and he took the opportunity to unravel from her, rolling away, his back to her as she cleaned himself up." This book had so much adventure and really naughty hottie that I loved reading about.
Loved the book it was great, the story was well written and the characters are interesting. Once I started I could not put the book down from start to finish you just could not get enough with twists and turns hot and steamy like a rollercoaster ride of emotions that makes you want more erotic, passion, Cash and Molly. Will Molly finally find out Cash's secrets? Thank you for allowing me to review your book.

I enjoyed Cash & Molly's story. It was an intriguing book. And a new author for me. I received a free copy of the book. And am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Molly and Cash’s story. Good plot and enjoyed the characters and their “situations”. Wasn’t sure it would end as a romance story ends, but it did have a HEA
rough-and-tumble-crystal-greenMolly P. Preston is universally known as the “Ice Queen” in both her business and personal life. Molly, an accountant, is used to being the responsible one of her family. Orphaned and still taking care of her older sister (the artist), Molly is the good girl that takes care of everyone but herself. However, after being sexually harassed by her boss, Molly decides to cash in her vacation until the jerk either fires her or stops pursuing her. Enter the road trip with her two best friends, Arden (wild one) and Sofia (tech nerd). First stop on their way to Vegas is a noted biker bar called the Rough and Tumble. Molly and Sofia get dragged into the bar by Arden, who proceeds to start the trip off with an illegal back room poker game with bikers. Smart huh?
“Cash” finds his gaze locked into the icy blonde and her friends when he walks into the Rough and Tumble. His interest is caught, but he assumes that her type will never go for a professional gambler like him. Well, he was right. Molly, though attracted physically to Cash, is not his type. Cash tries to think of ways to get to know Molly but ends up short. All until Arden, her so-called friend, BETS her in a hand of poker. Guess who wins? Not Arden. Forced to spend time with Cash, Molly begins to loosen up and start to show her wild side. One night turns into higher stakes, and Molly’s life is never the same again.
The plot does grab your attention, and the author steers a course that does give a good story. The characters are damaged and that is what gives this story such color. It is also what subtracts from the story. If I had a friend like Arden, I would have killed her and the story would have taken place in prison. I had a difficult time getting past the things that doormat Molly lets people do to her in the name of friendship. The best part of the story is seeing Molly evolve. I can see the opportunities for further serials for the characters, and I would like to see where the author is taking this.
Is this a good read? Yes. Do I recommend it? Yes, it is not a dark 1% motorcycle club story. It is a love story that starts in a biker bar but ends elsewhere. It has moments that are sexually and emotionally intense, but it is not erotica. I would label this a new adult/college genre. I give this book a solid three stars out of five, simply because I had issues with some of the secondary characters. (Seriously, Arden as my friend would equal jail time for me.)
*OBS would like to thank the publisher for supplying a free copy of this title in exchange for an honest review*
4.5 Stars Crystal Green introduces a deeply emotional contemporary romance series with Rough and Tumble. Punctuated by blistering-hot sex scenes and fascinating glimpses into the tough world of motorcycle bars, this romance also delivers true heart and emotion, and a story that will stay with the reader long after the final page is turned.
Molly P. Preston is so easy to relate to. Career girl, always doing the right thing…go to work, come home, do the right thing always, never deviating…”Miss Prim and Proper”. After being sexually harassed by her pervy boss and walking away from a much needed job, she and her girlfriends decide a road trip is needed to cheer her up and take her mind off the situation for a few days. On the way to Las Vegas, they decide to stop at a biker bar at the edge of town. It’s the middle of the day, and there are not many people there. It’s a good time to check it out and take a break. Guess who just happens to be sitting at the bar? Cash Campbell! The rest is history (but you’ll have to read the book to find out what that is.)
The secondary characters were fun to get to know – especially Cash’s friends. I really didn’t love Molly’s traveling companions, Arden and Sofia. I thought they were both irritating and detracted from the story. I give them credit for being loyal friends, though.
Let me just say that I LOVE CASH! There were so many contradictions with that man. He was all HOT alpha male with a side of vulnerable. It turns out that’s the perfect combination. Cash is a traveling man, never one to settle down in one town, with one woman, for more time than absolutely necessary. But Cash has faced his own demons, and he's learned a lot about himself, and about the life he knows he's meant to live. He has commitment issues and is very clear and honest about it to his women. In other words he doesn't lead them on.
Cash is a study in accepting people for who they are. Although I may not have agreed with the way he decided to live his life and his approach to relationships, when you find out his story you can completely understand why he is the way he is and that if Molly had handled him in any other way things would not have been able to work between them. I just love a tough, brooding sexy as sin, heart-melting alpha male like Cash.
This was one hot book packed with action, suspense and passion that burns through each chapter between these two. Crystal Green definitely has an automatic reader with this reviewer. Overall, a great read and I highly recommend it.

I don’t know where to start with this review because honestly the book was kind of a train wreck yet the main characters were so damn charismatic that I couldn’t stop reading even though at times I wanted to. The plot was just kind of a jumbled mess with tangents going every which way some of which were never completely dealt with, the dialog was at times wooden and laughable but at other times completely normal, and the “love story” a little unsatisfying. Yet, both the hero and heroine grew so much during their time together and while their relationship was odd and at times a little mean, it served as the catalyst to help them both get to where they needed to be. Simply put three friends from San Diego stop at a biker bar on the way to Vegas expecting adventure but it’s the middle of the day and there’s not much going on. One of the friends joins a card game and loses big time and the guy she loses to wants a date with one of her other friend’s that he chatted up at the bar. Kind of crazy and convoluted but that’s where it takes an interesting turn. Molly just walked away from her job after being sexually harassed by her boss. She is one of those by the book; all the columns must line up type of people. She doesn’t do spontaneity until she meets Cash. Cash is all sex and sin and is a drifter of sorts and all he knows is that Molly is so far out of his league but something about her draws him to her. Honestly together they are pretty damn potent and oh so sexy. Cash at times is a douche, plain and simple and he even admits to it. Molly wants to see the good in him and she does quite often until she pushes back too far. The secondary characters in this book run the gambit; some are crazy interesting, some are just plain crazy, some are sweet, and some are over the top unbelievable and honestly about half of them could have been left out of the story and the story would have been a whole lot better. The thing is the hero and the heroine made this book, their journey together made me keep reading it and if I hadn’t of had to slog through the rest of the story I would have rated this book higher. Rough and Tumble could have been an excellent book but was only average because the plot was so over blown that it took away from what could have been a really good love story.
Rough and Tumble was interesting to the start of series and I loved the characters but I wonder about the story. It starts of with a simple plot, Molly has just left her work in a mess. Sexually harassed by her boss she escapes barely and knows she needs to find a new job pronto. She always been by the books kind girl and she has to have her life in order so this has thrown her for a spin. So her girlfriends decide to escape to Vegas for a little while so they can’t help Molly get over her shock.
Three girls on the way to Vegas from San Diego who happen to stop a biker bar hoping for some actions. One problem it is the middle of the day, it is sounding like a comedy road trip movie. However the locals are willing to spicy things up and soon there is a card game happening and the midst of it something big and weird happens.
Molly is put up at as insurance by her friend Arden and she lost to the guy she would love to get to know more of but is worried because he is far from what she wants in a guy. Cash is a drifter who goes where there is money to be made from a poker game. He wants Molly bad but knows she wonder give him a second glance but she does and he knows there something about her that makes him intrigued.
Cash doesn’t know how to act to be put simply at times and is a asshole alpha, he tells Molly where to met him and have fun with her but won’t offer anything permanent . So when they decided to run off together and explore what Nevada and pretend to be r drifters for a few days. I completely lost interested in the story line and the only redeeming thing was Molly and Cash
3 couples, I loved the characters enough to pick up the second book and see which ones will make a return but I sure hope the storyline is more liner and simpler as there was to many locations and they keep switching on us what seemed like ever chapter. I really liked this book and the start of the Rough and Tumble series.
What tipped it from a 4 start rating to a 3 star was Molly's friends - Arden and Sofia. At first I really liked Sofia and wanted to see if she had more of a story line (with that douche-y ex-boyfriend), but then her overprotective stubbornness went beyond endearing. Her other friend - Arden - was beyond annoying. Her character alone is what made me not enjoy this book. Any time she was on the page I started to skim. I can't even begin to explain how annoyed I was by her (and Sofia) that I've never experienced with another book. That part became increasingly frustrating and disappointing.
BUT whenever Cash (especially him) or Molly were featured, I loved the story. Overall, the story had a darker feel that I didn't get from the 2nd book about Bennett/Liz (which I LOVED that book). Cash kept pushing Molly's limits and inhibitions which put them in darker situations and places. By the second book I had a better understanding of the Rough and Tumble saloon and all its inhabitants. Where as they started off darker and potentially scarier, my impression of them completely altered to a group of people who all care about each other. So if you do finish this book, I strongly suggest reading the next book for a fuller picture and impression of these characters.
rough & tumble book 1 in the series by Crystal Green
***Review Copy from author***
Molly Preston worked until recently as a accountant. That is until her boss faked her making a mistake in the millions. He told her he would forgive her "mistake" if she slept with him. Her answer? Molly ored ice water on his lap and walked out.
Arden & Sofie, Molly's best friends decide to go to Vegas to have fun and help Molly feel better. While there the ladies come across a place called Rough and Tumble a biker bar and decide to go in. While there some of the biker crowd come in. Molly is looking around after taking a shot of whiskey and sees a man who she flits with.
Arden gets invited to a back room poker game, Molly goes out to take a call about a potential job. Cash goes in after hearing Molly is in the back room card game he decides to join in. Arden looses the game to cash and can not pay the $10,000.00 she owes him. So Cash tells her he will forget the debt for a night with Molly.
Please read to find out Molly's reaction to the bet and see what happens with this couple.
This is my first read from Crystal Green & I am head over heels with these characters from Rough & Tumble. They are so easy to connect to and get drawn to. Even the crusty & less-desirable characters get their hooks into you before the end of the books.
This book was steamy, sexy, humorous, good girl meets naughty boy kinda reading. It had great flow to it and before I knew it, the book was done and wanted to start the next in the series.
Molly is the kind of girl that lives her life within some firm set of boundaries. Up to a point when she realizes that some people, like a$$hole bosses, don't.
Cash is the kind of guy that lives by his own set of boundaries. He lives with his choices and defends those choices with a veracity.
After becoming a marker in a backroom poker game, Molly chooses to spend one night with Cash for what ever purpose suits his fancy.
Cash challenges Molly throughout this book to loosen those tight boundaries she locks herself within.
Tho this is a stand alone read with a HEA, there are characters introduced that will follow into other books. To fully enjoy the series, I would recommend reading them in order.
I not sure that it is correct to say that I liked Rough and Tumble. It’s more like I couldn't help myself but had to keep reading it. All the while, Sophia was on one shoulder saying, “No Molly, don’t go off with Cash!” while Arden was on my other shoulder saying, “Go for it Molly, live a little!” I was somewhere in between on how I felt about what she should do. Most of the time in a romance, I know they will be a happy ending, but Crystal Green really kept me guessing with this one.
Molly the straight ace good girl and Cash the foot loose and fancy free drifter couldn't have been more opposite and yet perfect for each other. The entire book is a book of contractions. It starts out in a biker bar but Cash doesn't own a motorcycle, he owns a Thunderbird. Molly is sexually harassed and threatened at her work but chooses to help Arden out of a bind in a similar way. Just two examples, in this engrossing, compelling, addictive read. I really can hardly wait for the next in this series. This author has a hit on her hands.
Molly loses her job after her creepy boss creates a costly mistake in her accounting and then offers to forgive her if she has sex with him. Tired of his constant lechery, she pours ice water on his lap and walks out. Her girlfriends decide to take her to Vegas to get her mind of the job situation and they end up at the biker bar Rough and Tumble. Molly's friend Arden, who has a gambling problem, loses at Poker to Cash who has been flirting with Molly across the bar earlier in the evening. When Arden can't foot the loss of $10,000, Cash agrees to forget the debt if he can have one night with Molly. Molly has always been the responsible person in her life, but Cash brings out the wild side in her and she will never be the same.
I loved Cash. Seriously one hot gamblin' man. I love that he brought Molly out of her shell. And holy hell were they sizzling hot together. I so loved their story and can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Absolutely loved this book! What an amazing read! The only problem I had with the story was the character of Sofia....Her attitude stank towards Molly the whole way through...like she was playing mum? I can understand the concern with Arden. Cash, wow, another Alpha Male I can add to my book boyfriends list...he's smokin hot, with a rugged edge and a distant attitude, yet pushy and fun all at one. He's the master of contradictions, but an amazing character! I'd definitely read this book again and again and again...and recommend to it to all my friends and author's I know and speak to also.
This book made me laugh a fair few times through which is hard to do in a book. This story had everything from Humour to Sadness, Drama to Fun. AMAZING!
Received a copy from Netgalley and really pleased that I did. This is one of those good girl falls for the bad guy sort of stories but ultimately Cash is just rough around the edges and needs the right person to smooth him out. Molly and her friends are trying to loosen up and get their mojo back in Vegas. To help the girls out of a couple of tough situations Cash propositions Molly but it's not as bad as she thinks. Cash and Molly have their own issues to work out and one night turns into a road trip. He tests her along the way trying to get her agitated so they visit a strip club and raunchy biker bars. Definitely get the bad boy tough guy with Cash and Molly is goody two shoes, however people do change. I liked the characters, their connection, her protective friends and just the vibe of this book was enjoyable. Looking forward to book 2, Cash's friend Bennett.
Thanks to a freebie ARC from the author and NetGalley, I was able to check out Rough and Tumble before it goes on sale. What a steal! And considering what fun it was to read it, I say it was a double steal! ;) While I didn't always think the character interaction was completely believable, I found this story to be well written and entertaining. There were a couple of times I thought the dynamic seemed a littler forced or ingenuine, but these parts were minor enough that it was easy to overlook them. I really enjoyed the bad boy in this story and just how sexy his and Molly's adventure turned out to be. Very naughty and fun.
I would most definitely recommend this book, and look forward to seeing what the next installment in the Rough and Tumble series has to hold.

REVIEW: I really enjoyed the author’s writing style and how she brought the characters to life. Molly and Cash seemed polar opposites yet you soon realize that they are more alike than even they know. At times I got a little frustrated with them both and questioned their actions, especially with Molly. She seemed to be too much of an enabler while trying to come across as a strong woman. I also wished the relationships with secondary characters were fleshed out more. That being said, it was a fun read.

Received an ARC copy from Netgalley for a honest review. I really enjoyed this book and the way it was written. Storyline was hot, entertaining and had lots of drama. After being harassed sexual at work, Molly and a couple friends head to Vegas for a little fun, one of those what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. There she meets Cash, a hot and sexy professional gambler and a player looking for the next thrill. Cash takes Molly on a journey outside her normal comfort zone. Loved Molly and Cash's characters and how opposites attract. They had steamy chemistry and hot sexy scenes. I would definitely recommend.
Well, that escalated quickly. Well, it seemed to anyway. The pacing on this passionate novel is fast and furious. Crystal Green has given readers a very likeable lead couple, and I was rooting for the inevitable early on. The secondary characters were quirky and interesting as well. I understand that this is the first in a series, the stage has been set well for the future, but I could have used a bit less of the secondary characters and more time with the leads. I thoroughly enjoyed the ups and downs of our hero and heroine's relationship and look forward to more installments. *I received my copy from NetGalley.com in exchange for an honest review.
Copy courtesy of Nrtgallley I was attracted to the story description. It took most if the book for me to like the characters. Cash and Molly made an interesting pair. She is a very proper accountant and he is a rough around the edges card shark. Molly takes a walk on the wild side pretty close to the end of the book and goes off with Cash. That to me was the beginning if the relationship. They actually talked and got to know each other. I didn't really like Molly's friends. Arden was dangerous and Sophia didn't seem to gave a purpose. Cass's friends seem more reliable. I hope the next book is about his friends.
I found this book a bit hard to get into at first but when I did...wow! I loved it and I love Cash. I really enjoyed the relationship between Cash and Molly P. Such opposites shouldn't attract but when they do, you get the kind of heat these two have. I didn't like Sofia at all, she didn't seem to be a supportive friend and to be honest, she didn't need to be in the book, I had assumed there would be some sort to backstory with her and Her ex boyfriend but there wasn't. Overall, a great read and I highly recommend it.
