This series continues to go from strength to strength. This, the fifth book in the series, concentrates mainly (but not exclusively) on the survivors in Caernarfon Castle. Griffiths is particularly good at understanding the range of problems survivors in a situation like this might face, and tackles them head-on. There are no cosy cop-outs here.
I've decided that I don't want to see this series filmed, as Hollywood would very likely change the setting, dumb down the plot and vastly reduce the number of named characters. What I would really like to see is a big-budget TV drama series that could really do it justice.

Book 5 of 6
I'm about to start book 6 in this series, but honestly, if book 5 had been book 2 or 3, I probably would not go on. So far the fourth book was the best. I realize this is a horror story, but I really did not enjoy some of the events in this book. Just because I did not care for it, does not mean it was bad. The story continued on, picking up after book four. However, book for was not to my taste. If you've read the first four and somewhat disappointed in the lack of violence (although there was plenty) take heart, and a liver and a tongue - this book might be for you. I gave it three stars. On to book 6.

This was one of the slower books in the series but is still a great read. My main disappointment was that whilst the plot was not really moving the story on, the ending was full of changes but it felt like it was so rushed I couldn't quite make out what was going on. Anyway, they can't all be as brilliant as this series has been a super read. Will def be getting the final.
I recently visited the town and castle where this plot takes place and it was a little weird imagining zombies walking around the streets.

Annie needs do die...
Wow, what a loathsome character you've cteatedd , Mr. Griffiths. I hope the final chapter of The Wildfire Chronicles is just one long elaborate torture scene as Annie gets her comeuppance. I look forward to reading the final episode and see how you bring this to a conclusion. On to "Reaction".

Another great book
This is another great book in the series.. Kept me entranced right from the beginning. It only took me a couple days reading it.

After reading vol. 1 thru 4, I could barely wait for vol.5, and now, after reading it, I wish I had waited until the final volume had been released, to finish them both together.
I say this because at the end of Vol. 4, I was in a good place. Happy, so far, with all that had happened. The problem of the virus had not yet been solved, but it left me with most of the major characters safe, for the time being, and I could live with that.
Then vol. 5 was released, and I grabbed it immediately, read it no time at all, and did not like the way it ended. So now I'm frustrated, with myself, not the author. He wants me to be hanging by a thread, waiting for the final episode. But I'm not good at waiting. So like a spoiled brat, I am frustrated right now.
I still think this is one of the best sci-fi I've read in a good long time, and highly recommend it.

Hesitant to read last book...
I was pleasantly surprised at finding such an awesome new author. (He honestly reminds me of my favorite author Stephen King with his writing style). I love the fast paced, no nonsense, plot line. Although I will read the last book, I have to state why I'm hesitant. *Semi-spoiler alert:*
I won't say who, how, or why, but my favorite character is killed off at the end of this one, and now I'm scared to see how they could possibly all go on in the final book. It's hard to stay as excited about a series once the character you loved the most is gone. Dying in the last book is one thing, but the second to last? Maybe this person was only my favorite? But, there's still nothing like being surprised in a book, whether it's what you expected or not.

Book 5, Trauma, continues following survivors of the virus, as well as the zombies and the one man that has started this disastrous, selfish, and greedy situation in the UK. From the very beginning, little things start going wrong and eventually snowball into one horrendous, wretched MESS.
The survivors are fighting each other for control-- lives and people have changed, and they don't have the ability to work together anymore-- everyone wants to be 'top dog' ( except for a few--of course)
I don't like writing book reports, but this series has been a great journey in apocalypse SciFi and I highly recommend that you read all the stories one right after the other.

I got this book as a gift from the Author and as all the previous books in the series I really enjoyed it. This is the 5th book in the Wildfire Chronicles and it was pretty intense, with lots of action, torture (not my favorite) and the ongoing battle of how our group will survive in this crazy new world. I love all the characters, there are a few that I hope will meet a grizzly end. As I mentioned before you really should read this series in order, I feel like I have gone on this journey with our main characters, I can't wait to see what K.R. Griffiths has in store for us next and how this all will play out, I already know how I will be spending my afternoon.

I read all six of these in a row, so this is a collective review (although, of the six, this felt like the slowest one.). Fun, fast, freaky: this book was everything a zombie novel lover like me is looking for. Liked the interesting take on the zombie outbreak (I've always been partial to the rage ones.) I wasn't in love with the whole mutant Jake storyline, but the mutant Jason one kind of made up for it. After being thoroughly entertained by "Adrift," I'm quickly becoming a fan of this author.

Ordinary people, extraordinary bravery
one of the things I loved was the fact these people were (for the most part) ordinary folks, So few of the characters with the goog guys had any experience to help them survive the horrors they faced. The fact Michael and John had training and hung in and did not give up on these people was inspiring. The nonstop fight to survive kept me reading on and on until....Now I cannot wait for the next installment. yeah, I loved it!

A Winner! The fifth in the series, Trauma is another wonderful book by K.R. Griffiths. The characters are coming full circle - some to positive places, some... well... not to such terrific places. The journeys are detailed and more than worth your time! READ THIS SERIES!

As usual, Mr Griffiths exceeded my expectations. I am ready for part 6 though sad to know it will end.
We did lose one character that I was shocked by; still reeling from that. Highly recommend this series. Well written characters, fast paced action.

If you like to be traumatized while reading a book, this is it. Fast paced and exciting.
