This was a cute book about a dinosaur named Kody, who accidently gets left on an airplane by his best friend Axel. At the beginning of the story, the reader follows Kody on his way to the military base to find Axel. Once they are reunited they go on all sorts of adventures in school, sharing stories with their friends and making them laugh. This was a cute story about courage, and bravery. It also showcased to kids how much fun school can be, especially when you share your experiences with your best friend.

Perry-Knights skillfully illustrates Kody's emotional journey, teaching young readers about the importance of courage and resilience in the face of challenges.
One of the standout aspects of this book is its ability to address themes of fear and discovery in a manner that is accessible and engaging for children. The lessons about embracing new experiences and overcoming obstacles resonate well, making it not just an entertaining read but also an educational one.
Axel is 7 years old and lives with his mom and dad. His mom is in the Army, and they have been stationed in Italy. While traveling, Axel leaves his favorite stuffed dinosaur, Kody, on the plane. This story tells Kody’s adventures and how he knew he had to find Axel. When the flight attendant found Kody, she put him in the Lost and Found hoping somebody would claim him. Kody made friends with the other lost toys, but knew he had to find Axel. Kody found a scooter and set out to find Axel. Axel was so excited to see him. Kody knew he had to be courageous for Axel since they were in a new place. Together they had fun in school, explored new places and made memories. This is the 3rd story I’ve read of Axel’s, and I feel these are great books for kids. The illustrations are always so colorful, and I really like the positive messages the books are sending to children.

I’ll Find My Way And That’s Okay: Axel’s Story is the third book in Axel’s Story Series. This is a children’s book that children ages 6-9 can read but honestly children of any age will enjoy. My six year old loved this book and we read it together which was super fun. This story teaches children about being brave, embracing new things, courage, facing fears and so much more. Axel’s family relocated and Kody is his dinosaur friend who is on the adventure as well. Follow along as they embark on a new adventure. But what will happen if they get separated? I highly recommend reading this book and we look forward to reading more from this Author.
My kiddos and I read the previous two books in this series, and we loved them so much! It was a no brainer to pick up this one so we could see what Axel was going through. This one was both of my kids favorite as it involved Axel’s stuffed animal Kody, who is also a stuffed animal. We’re huge fans of stuffies in this house. Kody gets left behind and must find courage within to stay brave and find his way back to Axel. The wonderful lessons that were taught throughout the story covered facing your fears, being brave, friendship, and embracing new things. We also loved the Italian words that were included as now my kiddos are walking around using them! I highly recommend including this in your classroom, library, or even at home.
I'll Find My Way And That's Okay: Axel's Story (Axel's Story Series) by Shermaine Perry-Knights. This is one of the best books for young kids who may have lost someone or something that is very important to you. In this book a young boy named Axel has left something very important to him on an airplane, his stuffed dinosaur named Kody. The story is told thru Kody's view of finding his way back to Axel. The flight attendant finds Kody and tries to find his way back to his home. He learns to count to 10 in Italian when he gets too worked up about missing Axel and he gets to tour Italy as well. This is such a sweet book for young elementary age kids! It would also make a great gift for the young child in your life!
Kody is lost and in a strange place. His best friend Axel has forgotten Kody, and left him behind on the plane. Will Axel remember Kody? Will Kody be lost forever? As always, reading this story will not only answer those questions. But it will open up a whole new adventure. Great story about friendship and bravery, as Kody the dinosaur walks our children through being lost. This author has a way with words. The story is captivating and easy to follow. I'll Find My Way And That's Okay: Axel's Story (Axel's Story Series) by Shermaine Perry-Knights - Review by Britney Humphreys
5 Stars
My girls and I love the books by Shermaine Perry. They taught my kids about the military lifestyle, showed them that kids in military families need a little more love and kindness when they first arrive at a new place, and they are low-key jealous that they do not get to move to different countries.
The books give practical information in a way that is easy for kids to understand and enjoy. They also learned a few Italian words by looking at the back of the books. They now want to learn about Italy in their homeschool geography class.
This is a really cute story about a stuffed animal who gets separated from his boy and the adventures he has to get back to him. Kody wakes up on the airplane being carried but it's not Axel who's carrying him! How will Kody get back to Axel?! Perry-Knights does a wonderful job of showing children it's okay to be scared and go through a gamut of emotions. I loved the creativity of this story and the wonderfully bright illustrations. And it's always fun to think of what our stuffed animals do when we aren't around ;)
Having read the first two books in this series, myself and my kids could not wait to get our hands on this book. We all loved the fresh take on the series, with this one being focused on reuniting Kody the Dinosaur with Axel. It felt like a very familiar story with my son and his monkey. As with the other books, this was such as well written and engaging book. The author has really managed to capture the way children would be feeling and is describing it in a way that those reading the book can really connect with. This is a brilliant series and I hope we get to see more of Axel.
I'll Find My Way and That's Okay is part of the Axel's Story Series by Shermaine Perry-Knights. Kody (Axel's dinosaur) is lost in a strange new place after Axel forgot Kody on the plane on the way to Italy. Kody has to remain brave and find his way back to Axel. This is a great story about making new friends and facing new, sometimes scary experiences. It teaches children that it's okay to be scared and to miss your loved ones but that you have to keep moving forward. It was beautifully written and illustrated.
In the first book Axel forgets his favorite stuffed dinosaur Kody on the plane when they land in Italy. This books about Kody’s adventure back to Axel and the beginning of their adventure together in Italy. Easy to read story that shows the importance of facing your fears, gathering your courage and being together. I still have a stuffed lion that my grandma bought for me in the hospital gift shop when I was born, and it still brings me comfort when I see it. Never underestimate the power a stuffed animal can have on your soul.
I loved this story, and the artwork was my favorite! The image of Axel and Kody reuniting and Kody’s heart eyes listening to Axel’s stories was the cutest. Kody was certainly brave while searching for Axel and sharing their adventures together not only with each other but their friends. It is sweet that they lean on each other when scared or worried, but ready to tackle whatever comes next as long as they are together.
This story is about a lost dragon who’s best friend left him on an airplane. He is determined to find his way back to Axel and shows the different places and other toys he encounters along the way. The book showed kids different words in Italian as well as pronunciation guides and at the end has the first ten numbers listed. The biggest lesson our dragon friend wants kids to learn is it’s okay the be scared just don’t forget to be brave too! Very cute with bright happy pictures.
This is book 3 for the Axel stories. What a fantastic series for children! This book focuses on Kody, the purple stegosaurus. Kody is Axels' best friend (toy). He got lost on the plane and had to go to the lost and found but made his way to find Axel. Kody went on quite the adventure. The illustrations in this book were phenomenal! It's such a great book and series for kids. I can't wait to read more from this author!
Kody gets left on the plane and goes on a mighty adventure. He shares how you can have an adventure also. I love this little story. It’s entertaining and teaches a really fun lesson. I loved the little lesson on counting to 10 in Italian at the end. Always dream. It has bright pictures and a story that will keep the kids engaged. It was a winner in my house.
Axel and his family are moving and he accidentally leaves Kody on the plane. Kody is his stuffed dinosaur. Kody wakes up to find everyone gone. The stewardess is picking him up to take him to lost and found.
In this story we learn to be brave, just like Kody, as he shares his adventures with us while he is trying to find his way back to Axel.
This is such a cute story on being brave and doing hard things. Axel and Kody are a stuffy and boy who love adventuring together. Their brief separation gives Axel some fear but he works through his fears and learns that he can do hard things. My 8, 6 and 3 year old's enjoyed the story, too! That's a win in my eyes
I’ll find my own way was about Axel learning to believe in himself. It was well written, well illustrated, and got its point across in a very kid friendly way. Being scared is okay, missing loved ones is ok, but you can’t let that stop you in your tracks. The numbers at the end were a nice touch as well.
I'll Find My Way And That's Okay: Axel's Story (Axel's Story Series) by Shermaine Perry-Knights - 5 stars This is such a cute little book. I read it to my five year old and she loved it. The descriptions are great. There's adventure and lots about being brave. It's definitely got some lessons for life in it. I can't wait to read more books by the author.
This is a cute story that helps children learn about finding the strength to be brave and the excitement that can come with it. Kody goes on lots of adventures as he works to find Axel. It was nice to see the emotions that Kody goes through as he gets back to Axel. This is a nice way to help children understand some of their emotions and how they could deal with them.
Axel lost his buddy while on the plane to Italy. He isn't sure he can make it without his best stuffy friend. However, a well-meaning soul helps him to find him and they are soon on some pretty fun adventures.
The illustrations are beautifully done and there is a section of Italian words to learn too!
I read this book with my two sons - D (age 6) and S (age 3).
A review from an actual kid: D (age 6) - ”Axel and Kody got lost from each other and they were both sad. When they got found, they were happy again!” S (age 3) - “The dino got lost then he got found!”
We gave this book 5 out of 5 stars. If you are looking for a children’s book that depicts bravery, look no further!
I believe this is the third book in the series. This was Kody the stuffed dino's story and I love that it is told from his POV. Again, the illustrations are bright and colorful. These books are great for telling kids that it is okay to feel scared, or sad. That it is okay if things are new and weird. It teaches that they just have to believe in themselves and have courage.
This is a unique point of view from a toy dinosaur about bravery. It’s super cute and great for young kids to learn about things in a fun way. My 9 year old liked it. It’s brings a different perspective while teaching kids to be brave. The author writes it in such a way that adults and kids alike enjoy it.
