Aimed at children aged 6 and over, mainly Key Stage 1, this series provides stories for youngsters which are illustrated in colour throughout. This book is all about pirates.

Treasure, parrots, and pirates. There are three different stories of dealing with pirates in this book. One from a pirate's viewpoint, one from a clever girl who gets kidnapped by pirates, and one from a young, bumbling, cabinboy who dreams of going to sea. These three short stories are perfect for beginner readers, K-2 and any young student who loves pirate tales. The pictures in the book are simple, but colorful and were illustrated by Christyan Fox. There are multiple pictures per page depicting the action taking part in the story. Pirates are a great topic for most young readers who are looking for something interesting to read and have joined the pirate craze. I listened to the audio recording of the book, read by Jonathan Guy-Lewis. Jonathan does a really good job of giving all the characters in the different stories a distinct voice and making the pirates sound like pirates. The CD also uses simplified, instrumental versions of Pirate songs: specifically "What do you do with a drunken sailor". There is a regular audio version and an additional readalong version of the three different stories in the book. For the readalong stories they use different parts of the "Drunken Sailor" song to indicate when to change the page and when it is a new chapter.
I liked this very short chapter book. However, I wish that the chapters within the book had been one whole story. You know, one story leading up to the finale!! It was very well illustrated. The pictures were bright and was an attention seeker. Other than the three short chapters it would be a fun read to quickly go through or you can save each chapter for a different time. Very easy and understandable, no unfamiliar words.
One of the best pre-schooler books I have listened to. There are three stories in the book. It has all the elements: sound effects, background music, and animated reader that makes this a great audio book.
