Calling all Neurons takes the mystery out of the reading and spelling process and helps learners and their parents and teachers understand what is happening physically and mentally in their brains as they learn to read. This unique book’s research-based content, delightful drawings, and engaging text are perfect for children and parents to read together and will be immensely helpful to teachers as they navigate the mandated state-required science of reading curricula. Parents of new readers and every pre-school through upper elementary will find this a must-have title to add to their collections.

This book describes in simple words and illustrations what takes place in the brain when reading/writing/spelling happens. The illustrations really help simplify the brain research into an easy to understand format. The research included is spot on. I think that the content is a tough sell for my youngest learners but I would like to try it with my older students to help them understand how the process works. I think that it would be a great book for parents and classroom teachers too.
