I only gave this three because I didn't like it when they pushed Whiffer down the hill.

2.5/5 this short chapter book from the Dirty Bertie series contains three more amusing antics suitable for emerging readers aged 6+ particularly those who enjoy silky, gross humour.

This is the second Dirty Bertie book that I've read in the series with my six year old, the first being Snow! We both loved it! These books are very similar to Horrid Henry Books but for a slightly younger readership.

Dirty Bertie has some dirty habits as his name suggests and has ingenious plans to get himself out of trouble. The first story is about missing his chance to use the toilet at a service station when on a school trip and feeling desperate whist on the coach? What to do? The second story is where the whole family are on holiday and DB enters a sandcastle competition where he is up against Royston Rich. The third story is about his parents putting his home up for sale. DB doesn't want to move homes or school so comes up with a few cunning plans to put off prospective buyers. There are lovely little illustrations in this book. Perfect for early readers who have moved away from picture books but still like to see illustrations to grab their interest. Dirty Bertie isn't nasty or malicious, he is a good natured boy who always comes up trumps in the end. Bright, happy books with a healthy dose of humour.

I'm so glad that I found this series of books, we hope to get them all. Now we are all looking forward to story time!
