Wasn't too sure about this book. It was in the dusty section of the library.
Beethoven's friends, Wegeler & Ries provided original documents, most letters to verify their stories. These were given in brief summaries of the situations leading up to the letter or responses to the letters.
For the first half of the book, it was difficult to see the path of the story, which could be attributed to reader density, but by the end I was really enjoying the friends' sharing remembrances about their most famous friend Ludwig van Beethoven.
Contains some interesting tidbits about Beethoven the man, from two of his dearest friends sifting through letters. Also clears up some of the rumors that were circulating about him at the time, such as a royal birth and his lady loves.
