Some of the crafts and recipes are very obviously the 80’s, however there are many ideas that are timeless and can be updated easily with a simple color change. The children’s toys are still adorable and easily updated with different colors or in the case of the woodworking simply left their natural colors. The cut work, patchwork, and corn husk dolls are truly timeless as is. The foods are nostalgic for me and while I will certainly skip the Jell-O based sides there are quite a few recipes that look amazing, like sherried apple butter or the Mormon split-pea soup. There are references to the history behind a few of the crafts also, which makes it that much more interesting.

Recipe section good especially breads. Crafts a bit outdated.

in terms of complex page numbering and references to instructions, this book wins the price. the user of this book needs to make his or her own index on the pages unless s/he wants to flip to the index all the time. also it is unclear what is going to be explained for a pattern somewhere later in the book, and with what title. for sure, if you like the outfits the models wear, be disappointed: they are not to made from instructions in this book at all: make your own. enfin, on a cold and lonely winternight, with the wind a-blowing, this book will get the organization it needs in front of the fire.
it has nice designs for quilting and embroidery to be used in hand quilting. just flip through it and mark a few pages of those ideas and you should be ready to be busy for some time.
the recipes are listed in two columns per page, with clear headings and instructions. yummy.

Full of every kind of craft and needlework that you might ever want to try, plus recipes. Some of the instructions are not that detailed, I'm sure you could make it from the information provided but would be better with more. Of course the sheer scope and volume of crafts probably limits the instructions.
