Santa Mondega is no ordinary town, and its inhabitants are even less gangsters, martial-arts monks, low-lifes, bounty hunters, vampires and Elvis-impersonating hitmen abound. And then, in the shadowed streets, there lurks the serial killer known only as the Bourbon Kid.
In The Book With No Name, an unnamed book brings violent death to anyone who reads it. A mysterious stone - the Eye of the Moon - has vanished. And a total eclipse is about to cast the town into utter darkness.
Detective Miles Jensen must race to uncover the link between the book, the murders and the Kid. But, as the mystery unravels, he discovers that there's more to Santa Mondega than meets the eye.
Thus begins the adventures of the Bourbon Kid and the strange and sinister occurrences in Santa Mondega . . .
Just love this series. Great characters with many great one liners that made me piss myself laughing. If your looking for an fun read with badass vampires, elvis hitmen and kung fu monk's well then look no further.
I read both The Book With No Name and The Eye of the Moon in the "way back when" of 2009 and loved them both. Reading them again nearly a decade later has only renewed my love, and I'm really pleased to have finally read The Devil's Graveyard. I purchased this e-book bundle from Amazon UK and it was a very cost effective way to consume the series.
The Bourbon Kid series is a supernatural horror/thriller featuring a deranged serial killer, vampires, werewolves and all manner of undead. These are really fast paced stories with a lot of action, but they remain a very accessible read. There is a lot of violence, which likely won't appeal to some readers, but the humour is on point and you shouldn't make the mistake of taking anything you read too seriously. I would really recommend this series to anyone who enjoys Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez movies; the styling and characters were very reminiscent of Desperado, From Dusk til Dawn and Natural Born Killers (to name a few suspected influences). In my head, Sanchez will always have Danny Trejo's face!
My recommendation would be to take a day or two between reading The Eye of The Moon and The Devil's Graveyard. Books one and two are both read as being part of the same story, with The Eye of The Moon being a clear follow on from The Book With No Name. However, The Devil's Graveyard steps away from that story arc to focus on developing the character of Sanchez; I had to adjust my perspective and read this one as being "a standalone novel within the Universe of The Bourbon Kid". I made the mistake of starting book three right away and ended up a little confused at first, but it was a hilarious and well written.

..fast-paced..decent character development...I did not expect subject matter to be bearable but turned out to be a good read. Also, the first two books contained one story, the third book stands on its own..still works, though
