Listen — I’m not your traditional yogi: I’m the carnivorous, red wine and French cheese-loving type and I’m based in Tampa, FL where I teach vinyasa flow. My aim is to keep my classes fun and accessible, both in the studio and online. You won’t hear much Sanskrit, I totally forgive you if you don’t know your asana from your elbow, and I firmly believe that yoga is for everyone, from the kale-loving vegan to the prize-winning deer hunter. I may be a Bad Yogi, but if I’m being totally honest, teaching yoga has been one of my greatest pleasures; I practice to feed my teaching, but I teach to feed my life. You can do yoga with me anywhere you like on MyYogaPro where I have over 25 hours of my yoga classes just waiting for you.
Author calls herself "bad yogi" and I suppose she has an Internet presence if you're curious but I haven't looked her up online.
This is a book designed to enhance functionality. It's organized anatomically. Each body region gets its own chapter. She identifies common ailments/pains in each region and then provides various yoga poses to address those pains. There is nothing complex in here, it's all straightforward suggestions. Photos and text are clear and easy to follow.
I have found these exercises super helpful and the way the book is organized makes it easy to target whatever is ailing you on a given day.
A lot of the poses in this book do require props like yoga blocks or straps.
From the beautiful photo poses, to the clear and simple instructions, this book is EVERYTHING you could need for your “Yoga Fix”.
As a casual yoga practicer, I can say that this book is great for anyone from novice to seasoned yogi. I love the educational aspect for each section of the body; it really helps with the visualization in a way a lot of other texts skip over.
Perhaps the greatest strength in this book is that there is something for people of every ability/age/fitness level. The verbiage is not limited to Yoga lovers and Motz does a great job of being inclusive and educational to anyone looking to simply ‘fix’ that ache they can’t shake.
