Return of the Elves #9

The Return of the Elves Series, Book 9

Rate this book
A dragon without a hoard

Dragon shifter Kezari gave up everything to stop the poison she’d sensed on Earth. Though welcomed by the Moranaian elves, she struggles to find her place in a land with different customs and expectations. Her situation only gets worse after she’s assigned to deliver healing potions with the annoying mind healer Tynan. How is she supposed to work with a man when she can’t decide whether to push him away or kiss him?

A mind healer on the brink

After a mishap in his youth, Tynan trained hard to hone his gifts of mind healing and empathy, but working at Braelyn is his greatest challenge. Between traumas and mystery plagues, his temporary assignment stretches from days to weeks. But his biggest problem? Kezari, the dragon shifter he’s certain is his soulbonded. Her nearness strains his control over his empathy—and he knows far too well that losing his grip on his gift means catastrophe.

A struggle between worlds

Kezari and Tynan must learn to work together quickly. Trouble is stirring with the dragons, and when a meeting with the ancient dragon Caeregas reveals the extent of the problem, Kezari feels honor bound to solve it. Too bad working with the mind healer might be her only chance at victory.

Another great read from Adams!

It’s always a joy to read Bethany Adams’ newest book. The characters are well developed and the storyline exciting. In Maelstrom, we get to enjoy more of Kezari and Tynan. Kezari is such a great character! But we also get our regulars, as well as Lial’s camahr. And who doesn’t love dragons? Maelstrom is another amazing read, one I highly recommend!

Maelstrom

The ninth book brings closure and answers to many of the previous story threads. Exciting and heartwarming. A good read.

Just loved this book, binge read it in two days. More connections, new characters and foes fought. Can’t wait for the next one.

Kezari is a dragon who shifts into an elf and who has been exiled from the dragon's isle and now lives with the elves. Tynan is a priest and a healer also living in the elf realm, he has helped heal Aris after the trauma suffered at the hands of his so called soulbonded on the dragon's isle and Aris is now the skizik of Kezari, but though at first she feels only antagonism towards Tynan they soon start to both feel an attraction towards one another. This attraction they cannot refute and it soon turns out that they are a soul bond couple. However Tynan's insecurity holds him back from making the first move and her anger makes her lash out when in reality she wanted to protect and hoard her treasure. In the meantime whilst this love affair was growing trouble was also brewing both on the earth realm and on the dragon isle where the evil pretender dragon queen was harming the elves who had followed the dragons and their dragonlings. Once Kezari gets to know of the atrocities happening on the isle she wants to go to the dragonlings help but first she needs to go to earth to meet up with the ancient dragons who live there. The battle which takes place on the isle is massive as our group of heroes together with one of the ancients travel there to face off with those causing so much pain and havoc. I love all the action in this very intricate book, the romance and the massive battle which is full of heroism and loyalty where our friends all look out for one another's backs.

Well Bethany sure saw me coming ...

Me: I'm definitely not interested in this series.
Bethany: C'mon, it'll be fun melodrama. You'll find it weirdly nostalgic.
Me: It's a long series. I probably won't have time to read it.
Bethany: Actually they're quick reads. And currently all the audiobooks are available for free!
Me: Oh no I've listened to all the audiobooks except the latest one, and that one is only available if I spend dollarydoos.
Bethany: Mwahaha.

Good hustle, Bethany. I tip my hat to you. I will send through more dollarydoos when the next one comes out.

Book 9 and it never gets old. I really like this book and I read it in two settings. Hard to put down.

I like these serie and can't wait for more to come. By now I am thinking who will be next what will there story be, Owh please let it be this or that person.

Dragons, shapeshifters. I like it that the book is staged amoung the others who you read about it previous books.

Its not always easy or is it? Are we the ones making it more difficult for or selfs. When the answers are clear what then? This couple shows that it looks not done or no match and they find out things are different than what they thought.

Looking forward to another book till then I enjoy this one, with the others.

Great as always. Can’t wait for the next installment. Although I have a feeling it might be Caolte and Ara and that could mean the end of Meren. It won’t be Naohm. It will take a lot of time and effort to solve that problem. And Ren and Iski will need time too. Since Ren is all about not being quenched and all that. We can always be surprised with the unexpected. We will have to wait and see. Hopefully not that long. Lets hope and lets dream.

This is book 9 of 10 (so far?) of Return of the Elves and it’s brought another intriguing pairing, danger, drama, some resolution and some threads left dangling. Not my favourite of the series, but excellent entertainment.
As always, the narration by Stefan Rudnicki and Gabrielle de Cuir brings the characters their own unique voices and keeps the listener eagerly awaiting the next chapter, next book!

The story wasn’t finished. Yes, I know there was a last chapter. However, the protests against magic isn’t going away and Meren is still at large. So the solution is to close down Maddie’s shop and her dad’s and hide in Underhill? I know everyone was tired after dealing with errant dragons. Still, Meren is a big reason for all the trouble to begin with. We are going to ignore his lack of consequences? The dragon drama was great.

Very Enjoyable

Really enjoyed the story, it added an quirk looking at the difference in understanding from the main characters. Looking forward to the next one, even if I am not a fan of the new covers prefer the symbols personally, as I like to keep my own visualisations of the characters. Wonder who well focus on next, looking forward to see if I guess right.

I’ve been waiting for this part of the longer story arc and I wasn’t disappointed. In fact Bethany Adams has never disappointed me. She is one of a few authors who’s recent books I just buy. I preorder them knowing the wonderful world the author has created will get richer and richer with every volume. These books touch on so many subjects I’m amazed at how vivid Ms. Adams imagination is!🌹

With this installment of the series, I was underwhelmed after loving Lial and Lynia’s book. While we didn’t see much progress in our overarching storyline the last book, and I didn’t care as much because of the romance piece, this book it became frustrating we still haven’t seen our villain. We heard some of the characters hypothesize where he was, and that magic on earth was starting to get common folk riled up, I didn’t care about Tynan and Kazari. I haven’t particularly cared for Kazari prior to this book and have thawed a bit by the end, so I suppose there was progress there.

I’m still frustrated with the author for not sharing more on soul bonds, and now she’s adding that dragons and elves can be bonded. There was something about red barrels or something for Kazari and the dragons that completed her bond with Tynan, BUT WE NEVER HEARD THE STORY BEHIND IT! Kazari never knew it either, she just felt it was what the ancient one had been referring to. It was all just more tidbits with no solid rules.

This entire series is outstanding! I would say I am just a little bit sad I have to wait for the next book. There is action and romance, found family spanning multiple cultures. Good and Evil beings, lots of magic, soulbonded couples and couples in love. Dragons that are shifters and many dimensions. This series was a commitment I was happy to make. Highly recommended!!

Awesome read

Awesome chemistry between them.
The book has left me with some questions that will hopefully be answered in the other books. But this book in the series was by far the most interesting of the lot. I love it

It was a really show start and there were some parts that deserved their own book, but I did like the second half of the book. Can't wait to read the next book, as there is still a lot of open ends for some storylines!

Dragons and Magic

The group of elves, fae, and dragons are always going through something. I appreciate that this book took a completely different route in danger but connected a lot of plots. I really look forward to tying up some more strings for the other members.

This book is so hard to put down and I admit I'm not familiar with the series. I have most of her books but have not read this series yet. I am reading Bethany Adam's steamy series on Patreon and enjoyed he writing so much I decided to read book 9 Maelstrom from her Return of the Elves series. This could be read as a stand alone and I feel like I have missed nothing. Her characters are so rich and this story so exciting I will definitely start reading this series. I love the relationship between Tynan and Kezari, it starts out like oil and water but turns into something dramatic. And the story itself had me so on the edge of my seat especially the ending, I couldn't read it fast enough. If the rest of the series is anything like book 9 all I can say is wow.
