There is something delicate about the way Shimizu captures Hugo's loss of innocence. Broadly speaking, the general idea of that plot point is one of the more bluntly stated shifts for his character. But Shimizu treats it with care. Despite how obvious of a shift it is, Shimizu is able to add levels of nuance. In Hugo's second encounter with Chris, there's a clear difference based on their experiences in battle. Chris has had to kill countless people, and Hugo is just beginning to experience bloodshed.

Otherwise, this volume moves the plot forward considerably. The suspicious nature of the last novel's events are revealed and the bureaucrats and politicians of Zexen are positioned as amoral and villainous. We also get a clearer view of the mysterious figures Jimba is concerned with.

Really good follow up to the first volume. I was never really interested in manga or anime, but when the subject matter is something I love, I barely even notice its a different format, even reading right to left! Loving this interpretation so far.

This is a great continuation of the first volume, and I love how well it's able to balance all of the different characters and story plots. The art is still beautiful, and I can't wait to read more.

I wish Hugo would have killed Chris toward the end of this volume so I wouldn’t have to deal with her in future volumes.

So far this series is proving to be reliably good, with an excellent story about looking at both sides of a war. Good characters, even having a sentient talking duck somehow doesn't make the story silly.

This volume focuses a lot on Chris. I really love her as a character in the game, but she is much more interesting and sympathetic in the manga. Her meeting with Nash is more dramatic here as well as a clash with Lucia that we don't fully appreciate in the game. This manga was really fast-paced and through a lot of action in quickly.

Love it ^^.

Harus kuakui pengarangnya pandai membagi sudut pandang. Apalagi di game kan menggunakan sistem 3 POV. Dari POV Hugo, POV Chris, dan POV Geddoe (pemain bisa memainkan ketiganya secara bergantian).

Semoga nomor selanjutnya cepat keluar :D

Bukan Suikoden namanya kalo kisahnya tidak pelik.
Hal-hal mengejutkan mulai berdatangan dalam volume ini, padahal baru volume 2, yang seharusnya masih inisiasi.
Ya, justru lebih bagus si. Pemicu konflik mulai berdatangan. :)
