This is the 3rd in the Bonneterre series by Kaye Dacus. Forbes Guidry is the older brother to Meredith from Menu For Romance and the older cousin to Anne from Stand-In Groom. He is a self-proclaimed control freak and meddles in the lives of all of his younger siblings and some of his cousin's lives as well. Alaine Delacroix was introduced in Menu For Romance as the local news reporter from channel 6 who enlists Major into a chef segment for her daily "fluff" show. I recommend reading the first two books before this one to meet the whole family and understand more of what is going on in the story.
When Forbes is "crowned" Bachelor of the Year by a local magazine for the third year in a row, he begins to really dislike the title and vows to ineligible for next year's list.
Alaine is named the magazine's Bachelorette of the Year, but she considers the title more like "Old Maid of the Year." She wants to be married and not be lonely any longer. She doesn't think Forbes fits her criteria, but her heart doesn't want to listen to her head.
I really, really wanted to love this book. As in the last two books, I was drawn to the characters and I wanted to get to know them better. I wanted them to have a happy ending. The problem is that I get drawn in, but I feel like I never quite get all of the character. I feel lost and a little left out. Like I only got to look in the window, but wasn't allowed inside. I didn't feel the romance. It is just flat.
I felt the characters were judgmental and hypocritical and showed little growth in overcoming downfalls. Like at one point Alaine is at dinner with her college friends and they tell her she needs a drink, but when she reminds them she doesn't drink anymore they say, "Remember, she found religion after college." It came across to me to mean that if you imbibe at all you are not a good Christian. Alaine never once commented on her feelings towards drinking and why she made the choice not to drink--had she done that it might not have felt like she was judging them as much as they judged her. It made me feel as though I was being judged as a Christian for my choices.
A big annoyance for me is editorial errors. I was very annoyed with the inconsistent sibling count. In Menu For Romance, Meredith says she has 7 siblings (indicating there are 8 children), yet in this book, Forbes repeatedly says he is one of 7. I can name all 8 children (Tiffani, Marci, Jonathan, Kevin, Rafe, Jenn, Meredith, Forbes) and they were all mentioned in this book, so I'm a little baffled. I'm always annoyed by these errors and they distract me from the story.
The writing is well done--it made me feel, but the romance is flat and leaves a lot to be desired. No sparks, no excitement. I wanted more from the characters. I wanted to know why they did some of the things they did.

I loved both Stand-in Groom and Menu for Romance (both are bargain priced @ Amazon!) and was really looking forward to reading about Forbes who I absolutely love, in A Case for Love. I really enjoyed it! Kaye Dacus definitely has the knack when it comes to writing "real" characters. Forbes and Alaine, even though they are beautiful, successful people struggle with their faith, their families and their careers just as we do. The storyline is very interesting and I was pleasantly surprised at how interesting law could be, it helps that Forbes is a total hottie (sorry I just haaad to add that :-P) and would make a story about paint drying fun! The romance between Alaine and Forbes is so sweet, I love it! Kaye proves that single gals can write terrific romance! I will definitely be reading her next contemporary romance series, The Matchmakers, due out later this year!

This was an enjoyable read for sure. Light, easy, happily ever after. I've read a few books by this author and I've enjoyed them all. I picked this one up at the library. Christian fiction, no language or sex. And just for the record, I don't see anything wrong with the oldest child control freak thing! :)

I'm never one to give long, extensive praise or critiques. And, this one will be no different. I must say that I enjoyed it... to the point that if I woke up during the night, I'd reach over on my nightstand and grab my ebook reader and continue on with this one. So, it went pretty quickly (I was reading two novels at that same time). I liked the plot and the character of both the main characters. I recommend this read to one and all!

First, I must confess, this was the first Christian Romance that I have read in over a decade. Most of the romance novels I read now have a lot more heat, and sex, than this book has. So my judgement may be somewhat skewed by my reading preference.
In short, this is a very sweet, if somewhat quaint, story about two people who overcome obstacles to be together. A Case For Love is the third in the Brides of Bonneterre series; although I have not read the previous two books, I did not feel lost or confused about the storyline. Dacus does a good job of describing any missing details so we newbies are not left in the dark.
Lawyer Forbes Guidry is the most confirmed bachelor there is. But he can’t help but feel an attraction for the local TV society reporter Alaine Delacroix. When they officially meet at an event where they are both “crowned” bachelor and bachelorette of the year by a local-based magazine, the sparks fly, but they are not all good. Alaine finds herself irritated by the handsome, suave lawyer who is determined to try to get to know her better.
Things become complicated when Alaine goes to meet a lawyer about a potential lawsuit the landowners in the community she grew up in may need to take against the largest business in their small city, she is shocked to find that instead of the man she was supposed to meet, she is greeted by Forbes, who is also the son of the owners of said large business! And is even more shocked to find that he is willing to take on their case.
As far as romantic flames go, the ones in this book are rather small; but it is still, at heart, a sweet tale. Dacus’ storylines around Alaine’s life as a television reporter are through and realistic. This is something that she is either familiar with, or has greatly researched. I was very impressed with the information she imparted. As well, the restaurant industry, which has been a major part of this series (Forbes’s sister and brother-in-law are both involved in the business), seems like something that Dacus feels comfortable with.
The only part that I found a bit unbelievable was the fact that this supposedly close family could so easily be forced to resolve things in court, in part due to the devious ministrations on others. I would have preferred more planning on this plot point; a greater expansion of this aspect of the story would have helped the realism greatly.
Another great thing about Dacus’s writing is that she so easily incorporates the Christian aspects of the story without seeming “preachy” or “heavy”. The characters in this book have a strong faith, but are not overly evangelical in their beliefs. What they believe is simply what they believe.
A Case for Love was well worth the read. It reminded me of the much more innocent love stories that I read as a teen. I would definitely recommend this one to anyone who just wants a nice, smut-free romance.

I thoroughly enjoyed A Case for Love, and I really hope it's not the end of the series. I'm hoping we get to find out what happens with the rest of the Guidry siblings, especially Jenn and Rafe. I loved Kaye's "surprise" that she hits us with on the very first page! Didn't see that one coming at all. =)

As in previous years, he is honored to have received this esteemed award, but is beginning to wonder if he will always be a bachelor. Granted, he has always said that he was not the marrying type, but he's getting tired of being alone. Even though he is really close to his overwhelming family, and he has already obtained most of his life-long dreams, why does he feel as though something is missing in his life?
When he meets Alaine Delacroix, who has been named Bonneterre's Bachelorette of the Year, he feels as if his life is going to chance for the better. Alaine hosts her very own noontime news-magazine show on Channel Six. She covers most of the local society events, so she knows, and is known by, lots of the people of Bonneterre. Forbes and Alaine's relationship starts out on very rocky ground, but as they follow God's will for their lives everything slowly comes together. Once they completely surrender to Him, they see what wonderful things He has in store for them. A Case for Love has a powerful message about turning over control of your life to God, as well as, standing up for what you believe is right even if it means standing against your own family and friends. As I often struggle with control issues in my own life, this story has really touched my heart. Thank you, Kaye!

A CASE FOR LOVE was the first book I read by this author and found it different and new, but in a good way from the normal take on romance.
Two thirty somethings, looking to settle down, while just happening to be the most eligible singles in their community. Forbes in a high end attorney for some of the best paying clients in his community and he grudgingly accepts the award of most eligible bachelor in his hometown. But after meeting Alaine (who also happens to be distinguished as the “oldest single woman”) at the award ceremony, that status is headed for a change.
It wasn’t your typical “boy meets girl, fall in and out of love” scenario, which made it fun to read. Alaine thinks she is falling for Forbes until an underhanded act is performed against her parent’s business- handed down from Forbes own parents.
There was quite a bit of legal jargon in the book, which for me at least, was a bit of a challenge to understand. But I caught enough of it to understand and none of it lasted over long.
The ending was great, I loved seeing them conquer issues they struggled with throughout the novel. Did they come together? Well you’ll just have to read the book to find out! The romance was warming and enjoyable and picturing the hero and heroine together in their scenes- was bliss.
All in all A CASE FOR LOVE was an enjoyable romance, with a refreshing zest to the story.

Kaye Dacus has a way with storytelling that I really enjoy. With that said, I was not quite a fan of this book. The other books in the series I really like and her historical series I love. "A Case for Love" was an uncomfortable read almost the whole way through and I found myself stressed out for the characters not knowing how anything could end well. I don't recommend this to be your first read from Kaye Dacus, but I do recommend her over all.

And the last book of the series was as great as the first. I really enjoy Kaye Dacus' style of writing. I've read several of her series and the stories are so good and keep you wanting to reach for the next book. This series could easily have 4-5 books more. I say 4-5 because I am confused as to wether there are 7 or 8 siblings. It used both numbers in the series and it did mention 8 names... Would LOVE to see Rafe's story!!!

Okay, I really did not like Alaine in books 1 and 2 - especially book 2 - and Forbes was, well, Forbes, but they were over the top good in this book. Especially Forbes. He was white knight good.
This was hands down my favorite book in the series. If you enjoyed Major and Meredith - book 2 - you're going to love the beginning of this book. By the end, you're going to be giddy over Forbes and Alaine.
I would give it 10 stars if that was an option.

A Case for Love by Kaye Dacus: In chapter 1, Major and Meredith (book 2) surprise Forbes and others by ditching the big wedding plans and eloping. This shakes Forbes up. As the eldest, he feels it is his responsibility and duty to guide & direct each and all of his siblings. Forbes, early on says, "When God's ready for me to fall in love, He'll throw the right woman into my path," and God does, Alaine.
We find Alaine, at the beginning, disturbed about her society reporter job, which forced her to focus on fluff pieces versus her goal of covering "hard-news" stories. By the story's end, she appreciates her job and the gifts she brings to that job. At thirty-two, she feels she will never find Mr. Right and be single forever, a feeling reinforced by her mother. I loved Kaye Dacus using the word "discombobulated," when Forbes was blown away by his first encounter with Alaine at the banquet where Forbes is named "Most Eligible Bachelor."
The conflict was powerful, Alaine, her family, neighbors, and their livelihood are about to be lost to a powerful corporation. At the center of this corporation is the Guidry family and Forbes' law firm. Unlike stories with shallow, phony, or contrived conflicts, this was an effective device to move the story and show how the lead characters grew in their trust and reliance on the Lord and each other. Faith was a normal part of their lives. They naturally talked to God throughout their day, not just one-time prayers or token attendance at church. This story had situations pulling Forbes and Alaine apart, but they learned to trust God's guidance. Both characters were fleshed out in ways that were not seen in the other series books. This book ended up being my favorite in this series.

I read the first book in this series back when it first was release. I then had the other two sitting on my book shelf for years. I always meant to get to them, but when you have about 50 to read books on your bookshelf... Anyway, I finally pulled them off and read them.
I swear God had a reason for making me wait to get to them. Some books come into your life at certain times and they speak to you. They're a message you need to hear...a message you're finally ready to hear. Hope when you need some. Inspiration when you've lost yours. I think this book will always hold a special place for me. It's a fun and inspiring story with characters we've come to know and like in the previous books.

Terrific Christian romance! A fitting conclusion to the Bonneterre trilogy.

I had the privilege of interviewing Kaye Dacus, on our radio show "Kingdom Highlights", for her new book, "A Case For Love", Book Three in her, "Brides of Bonneterre" series published by Barbour. If you haven't read the first two books you have missed a great treat. My personal opinion is that this is Kaye Dacus' best work and Ms. Dacus has ended the series on a very high note indeed.
Forbes Guidry is the firstborn of the Guidry clan and a highly respected lawyer. He is handsome, athletic, highly competent and well-paid and a control-freak who does not do well with the ladies. He has been named Most Eligible Bachelor for the sixth time. At the party he meets Alaine Delacroix, Anchor for the News At Noon television broadcast and there is an instant attraction. But before the romance can begin there is a legal problem that takes up Alaine's time. Seems that Boudreaux-Guidry Enterprises, the corporation run by Forbes' parents, may be illegally buying up the properties in the area where Alaine's family and friends live. So, in an effort to keep their homes, Alaine tries to get a lawyer who will take on B-G Enterprises and the only one she can get is Forbes.
While there are no car chases, explosions of any kind or natural disasters this is a very exciting book and, as I have said I think this is Ms. Dacus' best work so far. Ms. Dacus has filled the pages with high drama, wonderful romance and fascinating characters. It is a book about appearances; what we do to make ourselves attractive to others on the outside to avoid letting others see who we really are. It is also about honoring one's parents and Ms. Dacus does a fine job of bringing that to life as Forbes takes on his toughest case, his own family.
I recommend this book highly and while I am sorry to have it come to an end I am greatly looking forward to the next series.

But before the romance can begin there is a legal problem that takes up Alaine's time. Seems that Boudreaux-Guidry Enterprises, the corporation run by Forbes' parents, may be illegally buying up the properties in the area where Alaine's family and friends live. So, in an effort to keep their homes, Alaine tries to get a lawyer who will take on B-G Enterprises and the only one she can get is Forbes.
While there are no car chases, explosions of any kind or natural disasters this is a very exciting book and, as I have said I think this is Ms. Dacus' best work so far. Ms. Dacus has filled the pages with high drama, wonderful romance and fascinating characters. It is a book about appearances; what we do to make ourselves attractive to others on the outside to avoid letting others see who we really are. It is also about honoring one's parents and Ms. Dacus does a fine job of bringing that to life as Forbes takes on his toughest case, his own family.
I recommend this book highly and while I am sorry to have it come to an end I am greatly looking forward to the next series.

Thoughts: Now that's more like it! This was a fantastic book with a strong hero and heroine. Forbes, while definitely a control freak, really does care about his family and I would say he's the best hero of the trilogy. Funnily enough, his favorite book is Bleak House because he is interested in the law case. His one flaw seems to be a lack of appreciation for old movies because I can see how his controlling natures stems from being the oldest child and how it reflects his deep love for his family.
Alaine is a television show host who was introduced in the second book. After seeing Meredith's (Forbes' sister and heroine of Menu for Romance) happiness, she even more longs for a romantic relationship. But she is conflicted because the possible love interest Forbes is connected to the family that is bent on destroying a set of small businesses including the one that provides her family's livelihood. She is also grappling with appearances and the inner self, which she is able to settle.
As their relationship deepened, they both come to important conclusions about their careers that I think will lead them to great happiness. They had a lot in common and they seemed to make each other laugh. They also have strong relationships with their families and develop a good rapport with the other's family. As always, they have relationships with God and the prayers they pray were very consoling to me.
Two problems were I felt that a. their attractiveness was emphasized too much and b. the ending was wrapped up too quickly. Of course, I don't want to read about a law case that drags on for decades so it's probably for the best! I liked all the descriptions of food in this book even though as a very picky eater, I can't imagine eating any of it (for example I hate seafood).
Overall: The best of the trilogy and a satisfying conclusion to the Brides of Bonneterre trilogy!

A Case for Love by Kay Dacus is a contemporary romance that takes place in the town of Bonneterre, Louisiana. Alaine Delacroix is the moderator for a noon day television show (as she puts it, “fluff” pieces), trying to convince her boss that she is capable of the hard hitting news stories that will land her a spot on the evening news desk. As Alaine is looking for a hard hitting story, one lands in her lap in the form of her parents’ loosing their business to an unscrupulous mortgage company working on behalf of the largest law firm and investment company in the city. Alaine decides to assist her parents in any way that she can, both to help them and to get the story she needs for her career.
Lawyer Forbes Guidry is a partner in the law firm that his parents own but he has gotten there on his own merits. Why then, is he feeling unfulfilled as an individual and feels like God has another purpose for him? Forbes likes the security his income brings him and enjoys working with the law but is jealous of his friend who runs a pro-bono firm (works for the underprivileged and unable to pay individuals). Not only is Forbes struggling with his own dissatisfaction, he has finally met a woman who interests him, only to find that she is standoffish because of a pending lawsuit against his parents’ company.

I really enjoyed this book. The characters’ concerns, reactions to the existing relationships and reactions to the new relationships were believable. I really related to Forbes because he is the oldest sibling in his family, used to taking care of his siblings and finds himself struggling to step back and let them handle things without him. The characters were empathetic and likable. The story moved quickly and kept me hooked until the end.

I have been looking forward to this book since I read Stand In Groom, the first book in the series. There is something so appealing about a man that is not only attractive, but confident, caring, and very good at what he does. Forbes Guidry is all these things. He is the guardian of the family. His role is different than a parent. He reminds me more of the butler in the Batman movies. He offers advice, takes care of any problems they may have, steers them away from bad influences and has an uncanny knack for being right ~ all the time.
There are just a couple problems. They've grown up and don't need or want Forbes controlling their every move. Plus, Forbes may need to invest some energy into fixing his own life. He's been the most eligible bachelor for too many years in a row and he's beginning to wonder if he's incapable of loving anyone.
Alaine is desperate to make it as a "real" journalist. She is alienating her co-workers at meetings, frustrated at how they dismiss her ideas and see her as just a pretty package. When she shares her feelings with a colleague, she's told it may be that she's the one who needs to change her attitude and given a reminder to put her request before God. Had she even prayed about it?
Two strong-willed people who are very close to their families and have a lot at stake. Kaye doesn't mess around. I would love to read more, but I think this is the last in the series. If so, I do believe she saved the best for last. This romance has such tenderness and yet is intense as well. They both feel very passionately but they have a lot of trust issues to overcome and family loyalty to consider. Despite the fact you're reading a romance novel and you expect a happy ending, she does make you wonder how things are going to turn out. How can they make it work?
I fell in love with these characters right away. She did a wonderful job bringing in the whole idea of a neighborhood filled with mixed nationalities and flavors. I wanted to go there just to eat! I could hear the meeting, see the faces and smell the food in the back room. There was the whole atmosphere of community and all the blessings and problems they face together. I think that's something a lot of people can relate to now and always.

I enjoyed watching the sparks fly between the two mega-beautiful professional characters in this book, and to watch this romance struggle to survive. A CASE FOR LOVE is the third book in this series, but it easily stands alone. This is the 3rd book of the Brides of Bonneterre Series. I have not read the other two books in the series so you might want to check them out as well.
Forbes is the older brother of Meredith from book 2 and cousin to Anne from book one. Alaine is a good friend of Merediths. She is a reporter and host of her own news show. She wants to climb the ladder and become a big time news anchor.
Alaine finds out that her family’s businesses are in jeopardy of being shut down so that a new development can come in. She soon finds out the how this is happening is shady at best and works to find a lawyer to help her family and friends.
Forbes is a lawyer and sometimes takes pro bono cases on the side and circumstances lead him to be the lawyer for Alaine’s family. The problem is its Forbes family business who is behind the take over. Will God help Forbes make the right choice with out losing his family and the women he loves?
This book almost became a DNF. I had a hard time getting into it at first. I also found the plot some what predictable. But I kept reading and once I got about 50% in I started to enjoy it more. The ending was okay and I admit to tearing up at the happy ending but the ending felt rushed and maybe a little unbelievable. The characters where well developed and I enjoyed getting to know them. I also wanted to learn more about Anne and Meredith. I felt the author does a good job of incorporating the other two book characters with out over powering the story at hand. But in the end this was just a so so book for me. I don’t see myself picking up the first two books unless they are on sale or free at some point.

I seriously loved this book. Forbes was so perfectly flawed and I loved how he kept going after what he wanted while staying true to himself. Completely 5 star swoony Forbes. Alaine took me a bit to warm up to but I eventually really enjoyed her and her family. Predictable and sweet but I mostly appreciated how Alaine and Forbes worked through their problems together and didn't let drama tear them apart.

I had this on pre-order from Amazon so that I would get it as soon as it came out. I loved the first two books in the series so was super excited to get this one! I enjoyed the book and do like the author's style. One beef I had with the book was with the hero being willing to take on the case against his parents--with the way the author has built up the closeness of the family unit it just kind of didn't fit. Also, it didn't seem quite plausible that his parents would be capable of doing that which they were accused of doing. It would have been a better storyline if the wrongdoing was on the part of the company they had hired...etc. They still would have been culpable, but it would be somewhat excusable if they were unaware of what was going on, and then once made aware, they took care of it. Being a part of a pretty big family myself, it wasn't reasonable to me for the hero to have gone to the lengths he did with a lawsuit without first approaching his parents in a private setting and discussing the issue. Other than this issue with the storyline, though, I did enjoy the book and look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

The final installment of the fabulous Brides of Bonneterre series concludes with A Case for Love.
I'll be honest...I was a little nervous heading into this last book simply because this book carried more of a male perspective than the previous two books. But hey, it didn't take long to put those nervous flutters to bed with such a dashing male hero! Forbes Guidry was painted quite well as the epitome of success in his law career, but has just one thing missing from his life...a woman.
Alaine took a little while to grow on me. At first, she seemed a little uppity with her tv program that she was bored with, along with her dismissal of Forbes' company. The latter soon became understandable, but there was absolutely nothing that would keep these two apart! Slowly but surely, their self-built walls started to crumble, and the fight was on to save a budding relationship amidst a nasty lawsuit.
This book had everything that I love--Southern charm, at least one character with sass, and the perfect dose of romance. I absolutely cannot wait to dive into some of Kaye's historical fiction next, even though I'm confident of one thing...she's a master at contemporary romance!

The only thing that distinguish this book with other regular fiction book is that there’s no steamy sex scene and whatnot. Instead, encouragement and the emphasize that God has plan for us all was delicately inserted appropriately throughout the entire story.
I like the story, but the main male character annoyed me a lil bit. Why? Well, the man likes to meddle in other people’s life and business, including his siblings and cousins. What a control freak.
The storyline was good, and was really inspiring. Recommended for people who wants to fight for what they believe but have not the courage for it. Thumbs up for Case for Love. I enjoyed it very much. I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.

The book dragged for me and it seemed like we were only getting tidbits of the story. I would have liked to spend more time really getting to know the characters, what drew them to each other (beyond their looks) and how the legal case works out. I had a issues with the fact that Forbes who says he is really close to his family, didn't approach his parents privately about what they were accused of doing. Also how could he go months without speaking to his large family when it the previous two books, the family was always around. The ending felt weak and abrupt, we find out that his parents were against what was happening and take a stand to correct it, we do not find out how/if things do work out. The romance between the two seemed lacking as well. We didn't really get to experience them getting to know each other and their love growing before suddenly they get engaged. I enjoyed that Major and Meredith were involved in this story and we got to spend a bit more time with them.
