So this book took a hot minute but was really interesting perspective! Definitely made me analyze some of my own perfectionistic behavior and think about ways I could improve. Not a manager but definitely really helpful stuff!
As a Physician, many of us struggle with a need to excel, to be the best, to be… perfect. But is perfect really a good thing? Or is the enemy of good better? Dr. Chasson’s "Flawed" is a wonderful read on recognizing perfectionism in the workplace as well as identifying the pitfalls of this behavior pattern. Dr. Chasson balances beautifully describing the academics of perfectionism and providing real world examples of how to recognize and handle perfectionism in a professional environment. As a person who struggles with these behavior patterns myself, I only wish this book had come out sooner! It's a must read for all high level professionals.
I've read about 40 business books about business and entrepreneurship. This is definitely one of the most impactful books on leadership for me. As an entrepreneur the harder thing for me was handing over things to my team. But as I have grown my business, I'm realizing my Managers, also have the same challenge. They end up micromanaging and demanding it is EXACTLY the way they want it to be.
Mr. Chasson does a great job laying out how counterproductive our initial instincts are and how we can manage more effectively. I'll be buying this book for anyone on my team in a leadership position.

This book brings to light how problematic perfectionism can be in the workplace. We live in a society that rewards performance, and those suffering with perfectionistic tendencies can become paralyzed by the pressure to perform with high levels of quality. Dr. Chasson helps us understand how to detect perfectionism in the workplace and provides tips for managers and individual contributors to overcome the behaviors associated with perfectionism that stifle productivity and creativity. I not only appreciated this book for its practical advice but also was happy to see this topic being openly discussed as an issue that should be addressed to improve workplace culture.
"Release the Strangle Hold of Perfectionism" As a business owner and perfectionist, I found the author, Dr. Greg Chasson, to be a great tour guide and communicator on the “perfectionism” topic. With his quick wit and interesting stories, he shares many insightful ideas on how to release the strangle hold of perfectionism. One of the key take-aways, as there are many throughout the pages, is the idea that not everything needs to be “Emphasis A,” and sometimes it is even preferred to take it down a notch. Just this concept alone is freeing. I will be applying the author’s tips and techniques for managing perfectionism into my daily practices both personally and professionally. Thanks for the new perspectives and for helping me, get on with it, living imperfectly!
A good book to gain insights about perfectionism. Fair amount of tips to identify perfectionism and the challenges they can bring to relationships and organizations. Also yips on handling leaders who are perfectionists is useful to have.
I could actually identify a colleague as a potential perfectionist based on greg’s example of Kabir. Till now I thought that colleague was a psychopath but i am now rethinking
