TAUNTING TEMPTATION
Aria Dunning slapped Tynan Rutland's handsome face with great satisfaction. The beautiful colonist was not about to sacrifice her virtue just so her royalist father could marry her off to an unscrupulous English earl. Rutland would never wed her—he'd toy with her body and her heart, then toss her aside with a contemptuous flash of his steel-gray eyes. Aria vowed not to succumb to his arrogant seduction... no matter how much she craved the savage power of his embrace!

HAUNTING DESIRE
Rutland stalked his golden-haired prey like the experienced hunter he was. She was defiant, she was stubborn, and he'd have her just the same. He would mold her soft curves to his lean, muscular frame and silence her protests with a fiery kiss. He'd teach her what a sweet victory surrender could bring. Her full red lips would sigh her pleasure, her brilliant emerald eyes would darken with desire, and she would be his for a lifetime of love's Rebel Passion

Krahn, born Betina Maynard, is the second daughter of Dors Maynard and Regina Triplett. Krahn learned to read at the age of four, and began making up her own stories when she was only six. In fifth grade she won a silver "Noble Order of Bookworms" pin for her achievements in reading, and the following year she began writing down her stories.

Krane was graduated from high school in Newark, Ohio and received a B.S. in Education (Biological Sciences) at Ohio State University. After college, Krahn taught science in Newark, and studied for a graduate degree at Ohio State in the summers. It was during those summers that she met her future husband, physics graduate student Donald Krahn.

The family moved to Oklahoma, where Krahn finished the work for her Masters of Education in Counseling in 1973. In 1974, she gave birth to her first child, Nathan, with the second son Zebulun arriving in 1978. With two young children, Krahn became a stay-at-home mother for a time, also finding time to volunteer on a community board working to get funding for mental health care in part of Western Oklahoma. Once the funding was secured, Krahn worked as an HR director for a mental health center.

WTF!!???? The H in this book was as disgusting as those in bodice rippers. He took the h's virginity, after the h's father got killed and the h and her mother were desperate and mourning he proposed the h to become his mistress. Not only that, he even talked about making the h a prostitute with her mother and said that it was common thing for a mother to sell her daughter. He also told the h's mother that he would take care of the children he got with the h. WTF, their children would be born as BASTARDS if she had become his mistress. Did he really think his money could compensate their illegitimacy and what about the h's reputation!!!???? What if she someday wants a real family!!??? Nobody would marry her, not for herself anyway (maybe the H would pay someone to marry her off) nor respect her. When the H tired of the h she would have been forced to prostitute herself probably her whole life to replace one client after another after being the H's who*e.

Later when the h's mother made the H to promise to marry the h at the first chance he got, he thought about breaking that promise, he hoped that the h would refuse his proposal so he wouldn't get the blame for not keeping his promise. When he finally married her the H was forced to go to another country. When he was there he thought about cheating on the h.

UGHHHH, I hated the H just so much I would have told him ''Fingerfu*k yourself in your assho*e'' or maybe '' Fuck yourself if your di*k is long enough to reach your anus'' if he really excisted.

Btw the author tried to make the H an alpha by making all the women want him but I would say he was nowhere near a real Alpha. Not in my opinion anyway, he was just another womanizer or fu*kboy.

I have my own definition of Alpha. If you want to know, an Alpha is man with power that has strong will, honour and a sense of moral. With power comes responsibility and he takes that responsibility. He is smart enough to think about consequences of his actions for other people and the impact he has on the others. Also he is not afraid to do the right thing (I hate it in HR when ex. the aristocrat H meets a low class h, makes her his mistress because he ''can't'' marry her. He is an ARISTOCRAT, it gives him power to marry WHOEVER he wants and tell the rest of the world to go to hell). A true Alpha is possessive, very possessive, he won't let go of the h because of some lame-ass excuses and he doesn't break his promises (not without a reason anyway)

If this book was supposed to be romantic, it failed. It was just sad, love does NOT justify evil or bad actions and the H's actions in this book were just like that.

DNF. Early Krahn, alas, overly influenced by late mid-century trends. There is no inner light to the heroine, and the hero is a boorish brute. Since he keeps what he's up to from the heroine, he also keeps it from us, so 3/4 of the way through and I STILL have no idea what the plot is, and neither hero nor heroine have grown or changed in the slightest.

This is a novel in which Krahn does some good research into early America that she'll put to excellent use later on, fully adopts the formula which she'll later adapt to her requirements, and makes the mistake of putting in too much sex-for-the-sake-of-sex so that later on she can write novels of wonderful charisma that rely on sexual tension and mere suggestion.

I loved the hero’s pursuit and obsession with the heroine—it was intense and satisfying to read. I also really appreciated that there was no other-woman drama, which made the romance feel more focused and enjoyable.
The constant mention of his previous exploits was a bit irritating, but since it was all in the past, it was okay.
