A spy for the British during the War of 1812, Rebecca Carlyle is determined to avenge the death of her husband, who died while fighting the Americans, as she infiltrates the American forces on Mackinac Island. Original.
I liked this one (especially the War of 1812 setting), though I have to admit I'd have liked it better if the h was spying for the Americans rather than the British! Still, I can understand her loyalty to her native country and her late husband's memory. And if it didn't seem right for her to be getting info from the H to pass onto her countrymen while she was falling for him, then she more than paid for it by what she went through later on!
It was interesting how there were three OM in this story, one a nice guy, one a bit of a jerk and one a horrible villain who used his supposed love for his country to get his revenge. It wasn't her being a spy that angered him, he just couldn't handle her not wanting to sleep with him, and he was sure going to make her pay for that!
The H had his moments when he wasn't so heroic, but he really did love the h, despite his anger at her espionage. The two of them had so many misunderstandings, separations, etc. and not all of it was because of the war. It kept things exciting, but frustrating at the same time.
