Fearless is book two in the Rescue Squad series by Kimberly Kincaid. This book was generously provided to me in exchange for an honest review by NetGalley, Kensington Books, and by the author.
When Cole Everett left the family ranch to fulfill his dream of being a firefighter, he knew he would never be going back. After having been a member of station eight for eight years, his fellow firefighters have become his family. He’ll do anything for them and they for him. Cole has had his eye on being promoted to rescue squad for some time. When he’s told there will be an opening right in his own station house, he’s thrilled. But in order to move up, his position must be filled. So Cole is asked to train the new rookie fresh out of the academy. He’ll do whatever it takes to get this promotion so he’s excited to get started. But Cole can’t believe his eyes when his new trainee walks in. He is a she, and her name is Savannah.
Savannah Nelson comes from a family of firefighters. There was never a question whether she would continue with the family profession. But she wanted to make her own way, outside of the influence of her family name. So Savannah attended the academy in Fairview. Women are very rare as firefighters. But she worked hard and excelled. She is thrilled to be offered the position at station eight and is ready to prove herself.
“In case you haven’t noticed, I’m not really a play-it-safe kind of girl. I’m fearless, remember? I think fate shouldn’t tempt me.”
Savannah is not a girly girl. And maybe she overcompensates while trying to do as well as any of the men she is up against. Her overeagerness might need to be taken down a notch or two. But after a couple of rough patches, she and Cole worked well together. As respect between them grew, so did attraction. They each found themselves thinking of the other in ways that shouldn’t/couldn’t happen.
“I’m not a firefighter because I’ve got something to prove. I’m a firefighter because I’ve got someone to be.”
The attraction becomes too much to resist and Cole and Savannah give in to temptation. Together, these two are hotter than hot. I loved seeing Savannah’s more vulnerable side and finally seeing Cole let down his walls.
“I see you, Savannah. And what I see is beautiful.”
While teaching Savannah how to read a fire’s origins after the fact, clues start to pile up that perhaps these fires aren’t what they seem. The clues are disturbing but without facts, can they go forward with what they know?
I love this series. It’s obvious throughout that Kimberly Kincaid has done a lot of research on the life of a firefighter. I loved this insight into what life is like inside the firehouse. Cole and Savannah were the same in that being a firefighter was their life. But as always, sometimes, when you least expect it, that someone comes along that changes everything and puts your life in perspective. Will Cole and Savannah get their happily ever after? I hope you’ll pick this up and find out.

3 Alarm Hotness at the Station Stars

This is a story which handles women in positions they must fight for...It wasn't always a woman could be respected as a Police Officer or Fire Fighter... forget about it...
Now Women are in the trenches everywhere... yet still are having to prove themselves. This story takes on that aspect of the career as well as a romance between the instructor and his trainee. There is true Firehouse information, hot chemistry and a mystery to figure out.

Kimberly Kincaid’s firefighting duo scorch up the pages in more ways than one in this fun, sexy and exciting read.
For Cole Everett fighting fires is his life. He’s devoted the past eight years of his life to his career, to the men at his firehouse who’ve become his brothers and to the people he’s dedicated to protect and save. His goal to get a spot on the Fairview Rescue Squad in his same house is right on the tip of his fingers, but he needs to train the rookie who’ll be his replacement in the engine. He didn’t count on being insanely attracted to the curvy spitfire. The draw between them is the least of his problems though because the brazen woman has managed to get on his Lieutenant’s bad side and now he’s stuck between a rock and a very deliciously soft place.
Firefighting runs in Savannah Nelson’s blood. She comes from a long line of accomplished firemen but moved far away from her family to make it on her own and nothing will stop her from becoming part of her family’s legacy. Not the fact that she’s a woman and certainly not the seasoned Lieutenant who’s set on stopping her. Luckily the fireman appointed to train her is not just hot, he’s also fair and is determined to guide her to the best of both their abilities. But knowing that relationships within the same firehouse, can they ignore the heat and connection that’s building between them?
If a hot fireman is your thing, I doubt you’ll be able to resist a firefighting story with a sexy hero, a vivacious and snarky firewoman with sizzling attraction between them. Kimberly Kincaid provides some of the best well researched story about life in a firehouse with a fast paced plot and captivating characters.
Savannah is tough and Fearless, and perhaps a bit overeager. She’s not just out to prove herself, she also loves what she does and is good at it, even if she does have more to learn especially how to get some anxiety. It’s by far an easy job, and I really respected her for her conviction as did her co-workers.
Cole is the perfect balance to Savannah’s impulsiveness. He’s controlled and serious mostly due to his heartbreaking past. As the two of them work together not only does the chemistry between them grow, so does their mutual esteem, connection and understanding about one another. I enjoyed getting to see both their vulnerable sides once they let their guard down.
Of course the no-fraternization rule wasn’t their only obstacle, as they’re both eager to go above and beyond they discover a trail of arson cover-ups which point to alarming foe. So besides the attraction, the heart pounding emergencies they attend which are vividly described, the great camaraderie between the charming supporting characters at the Fire Station Eight, we get a shocking mystery that had me glued to this amazing book.
Fearless is book #2 in the Rescue Squad series by Kimberly Kincaid. This is a sexy and exciting standalone with a pinch of mystery and dash of thrilling fire fighting. This story is told from alternating points of view with a happy ending.

3 - "I'm here to train your ass, not kiss it." Stars.
Having absolutely devoured the first book in Kimberley Kinkaid’s Rescue Squad series a few months ago, I was eager to dip back in with Fearless. And while the author deals with certain workplace equality issues admirably, there were other aspects of this story that didn’t quite gel for me.
The story that plays out around Cole and Savannah’s relationship reminded me a little of one of my favorite films Backdraft in that we have an unknown arsonist at work, and this is discovered by our two Firefighters in the process of Cole, training newly recruited Savannah to take his place on Engine Eight, in preparation for his move to the Rescue Squad. Although whereas it took me a while to work out who the villain was in regards to the film, the author made it pretty obvious exactly who the villain was in this one from the beginning. But that wasn’t as much of an issue for me in relation to the story as a whole.
"This attraction between us didn’t just pop up overnight, and you’ve never treated me differently… When we’re at work, we work. Period."
Which pretty much sums up where my main issue is, apart from a slow as molasses start to actually get the story going, I felt absolutely no connection between Cole and Savannah as a romantic couple, yes they worked quite well together when she finally shut up and stopped giving him attitude, and the author didn’t skimp on the sexy times once they finally hit any available flat surface going, but there was no spark between them for me, and there definitely wasn’t a raging inferno of lust. To be honest it was more of a damp match that you can’t get to light more than anything.
"Welcome to eight, Tough Stuff."
But the author tackles sexism in the workplace in this one as well, and although I can appreciate that she gave Savannah a take-no-prisoners attitude in relation to it and the treatment she received from a certain few, I really struggled to understand her reactions to a few things that happened. As rather than try and fit in she choose to go in the opposite direction, by giving attitude and rubbing up people the wrong way in her behavior. It kind of detracted from the message that the author was trying to purvey because I found her a struggle to like or empathize with..
"You need to stop arguing and start fucking listening."
I still enjoyed the team aspect of the book and the secondary characters kept things entertaining in relation to banter and laughs, but in general something was missing for me this time with the author’s characterizations of Cole and Savannah and emotional growth between them. I would still happily read more from Kimberly Kincaid, and I hope that we get more stories from the men and women of her Rescue Squad series at some point in the future.

If you are a fan of Firefighter Romance, then you will love Fearless and the men and women of Station Eight. New-to-me author, Kimberly Kincaid had me absolutely enthralled right from the beginning and she has a new fan in me.
Savannah – Just out of the academy, the first female candidate at Station Eight.
Cole – Eight year veteran to Station Eight with aspirations of going from the Engine to Squad.
Savannah and Cole – Fun, interesting, appealing, intriguing and, oil and vinegar.
All Cole has to do is get through training Savannah. As soon as the sexy-as-hell candidate makes it through probation, he can fulfill his dream and move to Squad. Problem 1 – her mouth. Problem 2 – her attitude. Problem 3 – he wants nothing more than to kiss her, take her to bed and make her scream his name. How does he get through this without totally messing up his career and ruin her name in the department?
Savannah is trying to live up to a legacy. She has something to prove to herself and her family. When she meets her training officer, she doesn’t know if she should run or jump his bones. It’s going to take a lot to get her to completely focus on her training. And, having a male chauvinist watching her every move, waiting for her to make one mistake, threatening her and make life very uncomfortable, isn’t helping anything. Now, mix the tension between her and Oz along with the sexual tension between her and Cole and you have an explosive situation.
I really enjoyed this story. Yes, I am a fan of firefighter romances but, Kimberly Kincaid really surprised me with her spot-on descriptions of both fire and accident scenes. Coming from an Emergency Services family, I can pick out the facts from fiction and, either she did some major research or she actually knows what she is talking about. She not only wrote true-to-life scenes but true-to-life characters. See, I met my husband of 22 years at the firehouse so I know what kind of sparks could happen there. Anyway, she really impressed me with her writing of this story and I am totally looking forward to seeing where she is bringing the rest of the men of Station Eight. Donovan may be next but there are a lot more of them that truly caught my interest.
So, if you enjoy firefighters, enjoy some hot, steamy scenes and are looking for a quick summer read, indulge yourself and pick up Fearless. Ms. Kincaid did a wonderful job of mixing romance with a little intrigue and gave us a wonderful story.

Savannah is a woman in a man’s world. She’s from a family with a firefighter legacy and she’s determined to be a great firefighter, despite the animosity she receives from some of her colleagues. She’s stubborn and strong-willed, and I really admired her tenacity. She has quite a chip on her shoulder, which is understandable, but I must admit at times she did get on my nerves. She’s so determined to prove her worth that she would be impatient and would take stupid risks, like taking off her helmet while rescuing a victim from a fire.
It took me a while to like Cole. At first I thought he was one of the chauvinistic firefighters who thought women shouldn’t become firefighters, and he really gave Savannah a hard time, making sure he wouldn’t be too soft on her because she was female. But luckily he soon became better, trying to teach and help her.
“I love you, Savannah. Whether we’re at this firehouse or home in bed or on the goddamn moon, I will always have your back. Just like you’ll always have my heart.”
The attraction was basically instant, but both tried to ignore it at first. The second half of the book was a lot better than the first half and I did like the romance between them once they gave into their attraction. The sexy times were quite hot and the ending was great.
I really hated the one secondary character, and was very glad when it turned out he was the bad guy.
I love firefighter books, but I must admit I’m having a hard time loving this series. Although I did enjoy this book a lot more than the previous one.

I am very pleased to report Fearless, book 2, was a really big hit with this NetGalley reviewer. Ms. Kincaid did a great job of giving this stand-alone sequel an authentic firefighter flair and romantic, engaging story line. Cole and Savannah felt like two peas in a pod as their all consuming dedication to being a firefighter was only out shone by their eventual love for each other.
Did I have a few eyebrow raising moments? Sure, Savannah, in my opinion, should have killed her new doubting Thomas colleagues with kindness instead of payback. Yeah, it had some humor to it, but nothing says “I’m going to make you eat those words” than actually doing just that.
I was definitely rooting for this girl to man up and show them all up on every possible level. She blew a golden opportunity to be the bigger person though. Besides, it was normal policy for newbies to be assigned to the duties that ruffled her feathers. Also, a firefighter who has issues with assisting victims of car accidents seems, well, a little wacky. Though to hear the full story was quite touching, it doesn’t seem realistic such a person would or should consider a first responder type career. In her defense, you could say it took actually being in those shoes, outside of academy training, before she realized just how hard it would be.
The hero’s at first reluctance to deal with the Oz factor annoyed me. Granted he redeemed himself in a very big way in the end, I still couldn’t completely put away a childish urge to see Cole punch Oz in the face a time or twenty.
If you are looking to immerse yourself in a romantic, engaging, with only a couple VERY steamy scenes, authentic firefighter, co-worker romance, well, strap on your imaginary fireman’s helmet/gear and climb aboard Station 8’s fire engine, as they race to save property, lives, and rescue hearts, as well. Fearless will likely be just what you are looking for.

FINALLY. A firefighter romance that captures the essence of being a firefighter and belonging to a firehouse. The hazing, the joking, the people you just can't get along with.
FINALLY. An author that knows it is called turnout gear and bunker pants and doesn't liken it to an "alien life form".
I loved this novel. Savannah is one of those characters who knows what she wants and isn't afraid to go after it. She's determined, and willing to do whatever it takes to fulfill her dreams (and get over her fears). She was the perfect balance to Cole who often seemed too serious for his own good. The supporting cast of firefighters and EMTs each brought something different to the story - and they made it come alive. If you have never been around firefighters, then it is hard to understand the level of familiarity between them - and Ms.Kincaid captured this perfectly.
When you add the element of mystery and danger to an already good story - you end up with a five star read. And that is just what happened here. Is there really an arsonist in the fire department? Or is it someone else entirely? And will everyone make it out with their careers intact?
Overall - I would recommend this story to anyone who enjoys a romance novel (and who doesn't mind some steamy sex).

I loved this book! Cole Everett was smart, capable and sexy as can be. I think he is my perfect example of a fireman. I wasn’t sure I liked Savannah’s confrontational attitude and worried that it would ruin the story for me. What a fool I was. She had the perfect personality to drive the crux of the story to where it needed to be. It flowed so well between the romance, life in the rescue squad and the dangerous mystery unfolding. This is an exciting sexy story that had me soaking up every word.

Kimberly Kincaid spins a glorious tale in such vivid details, I’m almost tempted to call it the movie blockbuster of the summer! And what a movie it would make! Right from the start, I knew that Ms. Kincaid really knew her stuff: never has a fire station felt so real to me. From the tight camaraderie between the firefighters and their funny banter, they all felt familiar, and all this with a few chosen words. Savannah doesn’t get preferential treatment from Cole, even though they were physically attracted to each other from the start, and I loved that. She is proud and too self-confident for her own good, and they have a few showdowns, and O joy, how it was so wonderfully believable.
Savannah has to deal with unjustified animosity from an old-timer, there is arson, a cover-up, and of course the fabulous romance, and the author masterfully blends everything into a exhilarating action-filled book, with the romance happening precisely how it should. And kudos to Ms. Kincaid who did some serious research on firefighting, which makes FEARLESS positively enthralling, and speaking for myself, quite educational as well in the most entertaining way possible. What I loved the most is that everything that has to do with firefighting is not meant as the backdrop for a romance, but plays an integral part of it. The writing is low-key, descriptive, and quite elegant indeed. Do not miss this fabulous read by the equally fabulous Kimberly Kincaid! A winner all the way!

Fearless was a good read.
While the storyline & Cole kept me turning the pages and held my interest I failed to connect with Savannah's character which took a little away from my overall enjoyment.
I'm still happy to have read it and I'm looking forward to the next book in the Rescue Squad series.

YAY another female firefighter story, I love-
I love the main characters Cole and Savannah. Cole is a great mentor to Savannah; he trained and judged her as he would any other firefighter. I love Savannah's grit and determination to prove herself worthy and not just because she's a firefighting legacy.
There's a bit of forbidden romance going on in the story since they worked together, and I love the fact that they didn't take unnecessary risks (I always get nervous every time characters get on it at their workplace) and keep their work and personal lives separate.
Overall, it's an entertaining story and a way overdue read (I've had this arc for over a year, whoops).

Fearless is Cole and Savannah’s story and was absolutely fantastic❣️The story itself was quick paced and once I got started, I didn’t want to stop reading. The way they meet is epic and I devoured Cole and Savannah as quickly as I could while enjoying their journey to be together even though it was fraught with some “issues”…but you’ll have to read it yourself to figure out what those were😉

ARC REVIEW
I was automatically inclined to like this book for several reasons; one: a female firefighter, two: a Backdraft-esk storyline, three: smokin' hot firemen. After reading it I was happy the author pulled through and made this a memorable story for me. There were things that caught my attention but I realize not every Fire Department has things set up the same way. Savannah at times was off putting her brash manner just made things more difficult for her, but I do realize that when you are in a male dominated career you see first hand the sexism and you come to expect that but as a fireman's daughter and sister she should already know some of the stuff to expect like KP duty, everybody does it. Other than that I loved the book.
Cole is finally going to get the coveted spot in the Fairview Rescue Squad but first he has to train his replacement until the other rookie is out of probation. Cole wants nothing more than the spot of FRS it's the one goal he has set his life to. Cole is controlled and straightlaced and I love to witness these alpha types lose control over a woman. Savannah is a legacy firefighter, her father and all her brothers she could have easily went through the academy in Texas and worked her way up but she knew that as her father's daughter there was a chance they would go easy on her. She wanted to earn her spot and be equal to the everyone else. Fairview was convenient she would be able to start on her own but not be completely alone as one of her brothers was there. Savannah still has a lot to learn and Cole is willing to help if he can manage to keep his hands off of her. She challenges him at everything and everytime it makes him want to kiss her even more. They start a relationship and successfully manage to keep work and sex separate. But...cue the Backdraft-esk story; Cole is going over old procedurally stuff and notices a common factor in the last few fires, even though they were listed as accidents the physical evidence that wasn't noted indicates that it was arson. Savannah wants to charge in and reveal everything, but this certain person soon blackmails Cole and threatens his career. Savannah is willing to risk it all, but Cole would be ruined. Now Cole must face the decision of what is truly right and wrong.
I have a soft spot for female firefighters. I remember when my home town got its first female firefighter, she was stationed at my Dad's station. I always admired her. Overall, this was a great read. Aside from Savannah being confrontational for everything, I really enjoyed this book.

When Cole is told he has to mentor a probationary candidate for six weeks to take his place on the engine before he is promoted to squad, a goal he has been striving for for years, he knows he has no choice but to agree, even though this will be the first female on the crew. Savannah desperately wants to prove herself as a firefighter—all of the men in her family are firefighters, but she moved from Texas to Fairview so her family connections didn’t make it seem like that’s the reason she was able to get on the crew. (Although she moved to Fairview because she had one family member who lives there, her brother who is an arson investigator.)
Cole and Savannah are immediately attracted to each other, but Cole has to succeed in molding Savannah into the best firefighter she can be, so they try to push their attraction to each other aside.
This book is good on firefighting action and the attraction to Cole and Savannah is definitely hot throughout. When they stumble upon some fires that are ruled that they were started by simple electrical problems but discover it looks like something more, they could both make their lives very difficult if they make accusations without firm proof of arson being covered up.

Also, there are a few place where the phrasing didn’t work for me: “she was a knockout and a half.” The fact that being a firefighter in her family was a legacy “was the world’s most massive understatement.” But other wording was well done.
One other pet peeve of mine is bouncing back and forth between referring to a character sometimes by the first name and sometimes by his or her last name. On the job in dialogue, it makes sense to refer to a person by his/her last name, but otherwise just bouncing back and forth means you have to remember a ton of character names because obviously lots of people work at a firehouse.
I also like romances in which side characters—family and coworkers and friends—are more fully fleshed out and complex. This book really just focuses on the hero and heroine.
However, because the action is intense and well done, I will read other books by Kimberly Kincaid.

Cole Everett has wanted to be one of the elite, has worked hard for it and is just within reach of his dream of joining the squad after eight years in the firehouse. But to fill the gap he’s going to leave behind, he’ll need to train the replacement himself, a smart-arse rookie by the name of Savannah Nelson who’ll do anything it takes to be part of a minted firefighter. It all sounds like a fair trade, but neither one could have counted on the obstacles that go against this rocky partnership or that the attraction they have to each other.
Savannah has all the earmarks of a rookie firefighter - brash, raring to go, somewhat cocky with an sassy attitude - but it was easy to like her when she didn’t skirt anywhere near the TSTL line with Cole and actually listened when it came to what was important, proving a good match for Cole’s seriousness. Yet she was also upfront, direct and dedicated with Cole and trod the fine line between respect and sass quite well, which is unusual for a headstrong female protagonist.
But what struck me hard about ‘Fearless’ were the intricacies of firefighting laid out in great detail here. Kimberly Kincaid doesn’t shy away from the hard bits of showing the inner workings in a firehouse and how they work (and the research clearly shows!) and I found myself lapping up as much about the entire profession as I did with the progress of Savannah/Cole’s relationship - which was also, thankfully, a slow-burn of a relationship that developed over weeks of hard work and camaraderie than instant love (of which I’ve hard too much these days). There’s loads of action in the first half but I felt the story really picked up when in the last quarter with the added complication of a possible arsonist and the growing but unavoidable conflict between the lieutenant and both Cole/Savannah. The building suspense that came after the RST was a lovely touch, although the climax wasn’t a heart-pounding one that I’d hoped for as the story somehow limped to a disappointingly quick and abrupt conclusion.

Review: I was excited for this book ever since I read the first book in the series, and the excitement grew even more when I heard that it was going to be a romance between two firefighters (the world needs more romances between law enforcement or firefighting partners ....).
The book delivered exactly what it said on the tin in Kincaid's topnotch writing. Unfortunately for me I just didn't fall in love with the characters and whilst I liked them, I just wasn't emotionally invested in their relationship which is why it stalled at just above a 3* for me.

ARC Review: Fearless (Rescue Squad) by Kimberly Kincaid
There is nothing sexier than a man in uniform. Except for a man willing to risk heart, career, friendships and danger in order to do the right thing. Cole is one such man. Upon introduction I didn't plan on liking the cocky guy with the wry sense of humor and sexual innuendos as much as I ended up doing. What changed my mind. The glimpses of the honorable man underneath. Savannah had all the odds against her. A woman in a man's world seeking to prove her skill and give her life in exchange for the respect of her peers, as well as honor a family legacy needed someone in her corner. Although he may not have started out as supportive, Cole must have saw the grit of fighter and the heart of a champion because he ultimately became her biggest cheerleader. Stories like Fearless are inspiring because the message they provide is powerful. Anything is possible to achieve, if in your heart you truly believe.

Upon introduction I didn't plan on liking the cocky guy with the wry sense of humor and sexual innuendos as much as I ended up doing. What changed my mind. The glimpses of the honorable man underneath. Savannah had all the odds against her. A woman in a man's world seeking to prove her skill and give her life in exchange for the respect of her peers, as well as honor a family legacy needed someone in her corner. Although he may not have started out as supportive, Cole must have saw the grit of fighter and the heart of a champion because he ultimately became her biggest cheerleader. Stories like Fearless are inspiring because the message they provide is powerful. Anything is possible to achieve, if in your heart you truly believe.

I'm a heroine-centric reader so I'm surprised I liked this book so much. Savannah was really annoying in the first third or so of this book. From her first day on the job she's overly touchy and mouthy. She's bad at taking orders even though that's part of the job. Eventually she gets it together and becomes much more sympathetic. Cole has been a fire fighter for eight years and has to train Savannah before he can move to his new job in squad. He's steady, experienced, and restrained. If you look deeper, they have a lot in common. They both left home to start fresh in a new city, they have a driving need to be the best fire fighter they can, and they're both ambitious.
The romance and the arson subplot are both interesting.

Can two firefighters assigned to the same firehouse, maintain a relationship in secret? Cole Everett is assigned to train new recruit Savannah Nelson before he can move up to his new position on rescue squad. Savannah’s impulsive mouth causes some ruffled feathers in the firehouse and Cole’s stoicism helps her to think before speaking while also encouraging her to challenge his calm methodical behavior.
I really enjoyed reading this latest installment in the Pine Mountain series. Kimberly Kincaid is fast becoming an auto buy author for me.

This coworkers, opposites attract, forbidden romance had the perfect mix of sweet, spicy, real life issues, painful pasts, big feels, and a mystery. It’s a slow build up of intimacy between two guarded, driven and intense characters resulting in combustible passion. For 8 years, Cole has been a firefighter on Engine in the city of Fairview. He is always calm, keeping his emotions carefully locked down. After two years of extra training, he is about to get a spot on the coveted Squad. But first he needs to help train the new rookie, Savannah, for six weeks. Savannah comes from a long line of firefighters. She graduated top in her class and knows it will be difficult to transition to a full time firefighter especially because of her gender but she’s eager to get started. She has difficulty not expressing her emotions loudly. There is instant attraction and chemistry between Cole and Savannah even if they choose not to act on it. But the slow and steady building of the relationship and connection as Cole trains her and they spend time together was so relatable, believable, and swoony. They are both portrayed as real and likable people who have flaws, but are really just trying to do their best as messy humans. What follows the giving in to their passion, is a wonderful journey of baggage unpacking, truth telling, leaps of faith, mystery solving, and life course correction. This well written romance included three dimensional characters who grow, witty dialogue and an engaging storyline. I can’t wait to read more stories set in this world.

Wow! Cole and Savannah really know how to ignite some passionate flames!! I enjoyed the first book in the Rescue Squad series Reckless, but I devoured this one. I don't know if it was because I was already invested into the fire house family, or because Savannah was my kind of heroine.
Since I enjoyed Savannah so much let's start off with her. The chip on her shoulder must get hard to carry around after a while. I honestly get why she is so tough, she is doing what most would consider a "man's" job. Savannah was also raised in a firefighter household. Her father is a chief and her brother's are also firefighters. While they would prefer if she didn't become one they definitely had her back throughout it all. She thinks the only way she will get a fair shake at becoming a firefighter is to move out of her hometown and somewhere no one knows her last name. I loved how Kimberly Kincaid covered the hard parts of being a female in a "man's" world. She didn't make all men out to be jerks, however she didn't gloss over the rough stuff either. Savannah had the right amount of spunk and sass to get her through the tough times at the academy and now at the firehouse. However she still needed to learn a few things, like cooking an awful breakfast just to be spiteful may bite you in the ass because you have to eat it too! (great moment) She learned that she can count on her firehouse brother's no matter what during training, a fire, or ducks. (you will understand when you get there) All in all she was a great character just the right amount of attitude and conviction.
Cole is such an interesting character I just wanted to pick him apart and see what makes him tick. He has wanted on squad for years, it has been his goal to make it there. He can see the light at the end of the tunnel however to get there he has to train a cadet that may push his work and hormone buttons. The brotherhood he has going on at the firehouse is amazing. Everyone relies on everyone else... however that doesn't mean you don't have your normal family squabbles. Cole had a giant fight with his family when he picked firefighting over the farm. He hasn't seen his family since, which really breaks my heart because he seems like such a good guy. He treats the firehouse like it is his home. The brotherly qualities between Donovan and Cole are priceless. When Cole starts to work with Savannah and realizes she is one tough cookie she earns his respect. However after weeks of being close and trying to ignore the obvious chemistry between them things get steamy one night.. then one night leads to two and so forth. While Cole and Savannah are able to separate work and pleasure this little fling could get them both fired. Then something is brought to their attention about a fellow firefighter and the fallout from it may be more than either can handle.
Both of these characters are super strong and very well thought out. I always love a stronger heroine than a weaker one that relies on a man. While most of these though love female characters do need the men in their lives , the men seem to need the women more and I love that aspect.
I highly recommend this series to anyone who is a firefighter/romance fan. Or just a romance fan in general.

I really just loved Cole (whose name for some reason I'm convinced is Ian. Not sure why that is but my brain's stuck on it) and Savannah. They have a lot in common as they're both dedicated to firefighting with a singular drive that excludes most everything else. They're both wired to try harder, do better, learn more. But where Cole takes the stoic role 99% of the time Savannah's filter is a bit on the broken side. She has a tendency to say what she thinks and to respond defensively. However, while she has some impulsive tendencies she is also ready to learn and more than willing to work. I liked how their relationship developed and found the jump to a personal and romantic relationship realistic. This was a partnership that worked on both a professional and personal level.
One aspect of this book I really enjoyed and really resonated with me was Savannah's entrance into the fire department. I think in general firefighting is a very male dominated profession and Kincaid doesn't dance around this fact. Savannah knows that's going to be an issue from the beginning and faces that head on. That being said it isn't the focus. While proving that she can be just as good a firefighter as a man is important her primary goal is just to be a damn good firefighter. While there is some initial reservations ranging from uncomfortable to hostile from the guys at Station Eight it dissipates pretty quickly with only one exception. There is a little more pressure on her because of her gender but I felt that it was done well and neither overstated or understated. While no part of me would ever be a firefighter I have been one of the few females in a profession and it is a scenario I'm more than a little familiar with.
The side characters were fantastic. I loved the guys at the firehouse. While I didn't love Donovan in his own story he's an entertaining side character and his and Savannah's interactions made me smile. I liked seeing more of Rachel and O'Keefe who are paramedics, Crews, and Jonesey. He's a character I wouldn't mind seeing get his own book. Savannah's family is a minor role but I enjoyed seeing her interactions with her father and her brother. While they show their support and are obviously very close they don't go all protective and trust Savannah to make her own decisions which I really liked. Her brother Brad is also a character I wouldn't mind seeing more of.

Why has no one ever told me to read a book with a fireman?! It is a sub-genre I think I need to dabble a little more in after reading Fearless by Kimberly Kincaid, who is a first time author for me by the way. Now, I need to get myself a hot firemen calendar and more of Kincaid’s Rescue Squad series.
I wasn’t sure what I was going to think going into this. It is a workplace romance and the Hero is training the heroine. Can you say awkward? It really could end up that way! BUT, Cole is a good guy. He is fair to Savannah and Savannah is a tough pill to swallow. She is a woman in a man’s profession, a dangerous one at that so she has a lot to conquer. She not only lives up to the men and their performances, training and in the field, but she breaks records. She comes from a family of firefighters. It is all she ever wanted. She works really hard and she doesn’t expect anything except respect. Gotta love that! I hope my kids grow up to be just like her…hard working and unentitled. Cole is a good character also. He is a little damaged from…well, from life. I love how patient he is as trainer to Savannah. There is something in it for him to successfully train Savannah, but he never threw that in her face, he just wanted her to be a good firefighter. Like I said, a good guy.
The suspense in this book is SO GOOD! I was so incredibly nervous in parts of it, more than I have been in a long ass time! It could be that whole, ‘firemen run into burning buildings’ thing, but I don’t think so. These are characters that are so likeable and so relatable that you really don’t want to see them come to harm. You want to see them keep their love affair from being discovered, to get their HEA and to solve the mystery. There are not a lot of suspenseful scenes in this story but what there was is done very well. From their work as firefighters to their relationship, I felt like I was reading on eggshells and I loved it.
This book caught me off guard. I don’t know if it is because the first chapter is told in the male POV and started a little slow or that it is a sub-genre I have never read before or that it is a new to me author. Truthfully I wasn’t expecting much and I love that Kincaid blew me away. Fearless reminded me why I love reading contemporary romance, which I had been forgetting recently. This book may be formulaic but that is ok. It is a proven formula and it pays off here. I’m also going to go out on a limb and say that this is a well researched book, from the lingo in a fire station to the way the characters speak, there are no posers here. The characters, their maturity, the romance, the real life struggles, the caring, the sex, the friendships, the brotherhood, the mystery, the respect…Fearless has it all.

Kimberly Kincaid is back with the final book in the Rescue Squad series and she delivers a book that not only is a fantastic read, filled with romance, snarky fun banter a little mystery and two smoking hot firefighters falling in love, it will leave you with a whole new respect for what firefighters go through to become the best at what they do.
One of the things I love most about this authors writing is the fact that you can easily lose yourself in the story and this one was no different. I felt part of the station house and all the goings on there. The shenanigans, call outs, hard times and everything in between. I loved it all, from the first page to the last. Especially Cole and Savannah.
Watching these two butt heads as the sexual tension rises was a hoot to read. Their banter was one of my favourite things. Savannah certainly gave as good as she got when it came to Cole and Squad Eight and it was worth the ring side seat. Can you say smoking hot sexual tension? And when it snaps…..grab a fire extinguisher or two cause these two do more than burn up the sheets. Holy smokes.
Let me say this, Cole is hot! Yes I’m a total sucker for men in bunker pants, but there is just something about Cole that lights my fire. He’s tough, hard, loyal to his fire house family and friends, determined to make squad, and tasked with training rookie Savannah so he can move to his ultimate job. Piece of cake right? Or maybe not…..
I adored Savannah. She’s a tough, kick ass chick in a man’s world who is no wilting flower. No way no how. She comes from a family of firefighters and being the only woman she is determined to not only make it but do it on her own terms. And when she is paired with Cole, things get interesting. But can they find a way to keep it quiet and still get the positions they both want?
Add in a little mystery and intrigue on the form of some suspicious fires, a truly nasty squad leader (I hated him), Alex and Brennan (sigh) some truly inspired hijinks and some heart pounding call outs and you get a book that I not only loved but have already ear marked for are-read in the near future. I’m not quite ready to leave Squad Eight yet. Oh and sorry for all the bad fire puns, I couldn’t resist.

Fearless (Rescue Squad #2) by Kimberly Kincaid is amazing! It is another hit in the Rescue Squad Series. As with other books this one can be read as a stand alone without losing the reader. This amazing story is that of Cole and Savannah.
Cole Everett has spent the last 8 years working in Station 8 as a firefighter. He loves his job and the career that he has chosen. But what he really wants, what he has been working towards is a coveted spot on the elite Fairview Rescue Squad. When an opening becomes available, Cole is the man for the job, but before they can let him leave, he must train his replacement. He is up for the task, knowing that his goal is in sight. What he does not count on is that his replacement would be a woman, and the sexy Savannah Nelson at that.
Savannah Nelson is the only girl in a family of male firefighters. It is in her blood, and she wants nothing more than to follow in the family business. Leaving her home and her family to make a go of it where her father's influence cannot sway decisions, she will do whatever she can to prove her worth and prove that she has what it takes.

What I love about Cole and Savannah is that they both have each others backs. They are both honest and just want the best for the station, expect the best out of themselves. I loved how Cole helped Savannah through her fears and doubts, and how Savannah was willing to risk her career to make sure that Cole's place in the station and on the Rescue Squad was not lost.
Another amazing addition to another amazing series. If you enjoy HOT hunky fireman who can set off alarms with a smoldering look, you will need to get this one.

Leaving her home and her family to make a go of it where her father's influence cannot sway decisions, she will do whatever she can to prove her worth and prove that she has what it takes.
As Cole and Savannah train together, they begin to confide in each other, and the lust and feelings that they feel for each other take over. Knowing that they need to keep their relationship under wraps, as they both are in the same house, when they are at work they are all professional, but in private, they set off alarms. When a string of fires raise suspicions, Cole and Savannah start to look a little closer, but when Savannah is hurt in one, Cole will stop at nothing to bring the person to justice, even it is cost him everything he has ever worked for.
What I love about Cole and Savannah is that they both have each others backs. They are both honest and just want the best for the station, expect the best out of themselves. I loved how Cole helped Savannah through her fears and doubts, and how Savannah was willing to risk her career to make sure that Cole's place in the station and on the Rescue Squad was not lost.
Another amazing addition to another amazing series. If you enjoy HOT hunky fireman who can set off alarms with a smoldering look, you will need to get this one.

The second book in the Rescue Squad series, Fearless, features a female firefighter heroine and her introduction to a male dominated team. Savannah Nelson is spunky, independent and knows and aims to succeed in what she wants. And she wants is to be a firefighter on her own merit and not because of family connections. When she gets assigned to Station 8, she doesn't realize that the man who trains her could make it more difficult to keep her eye on the goal in more ways than one. Cole Everett has been part of Station Eight for 8 years. Its his family ever since his own seems to have disowned him for following his own dreams. Now he's about to get his ultimate goal of joining the search and rescue squad but first he has to train his replacement. When he finds out its the very attractive Savannah, he gets into trouble in more ways than one. Can these two keep their relationship professional enough to reach their dreams? Fearless was fun and engaging and despite being a romance it gives readers a sense of what it takes to be a firefighter, the training they have to endure, the danger they face and the brotherhood that they develop with each other. Cole and Savannah had great chemistry and they the fun part is how they were able to really be professional despite the fact that they were really burning up the sheets by then. There was a little bit of suspense mystery going on but this was more a plot device to get rid of annoying secondary character from my point of view. Overall, Fearless is all heart, great dialogue, great sizzling chemistry and wonderful secondary characters. Looking forward to more Station Eight stories!

If you love a hunky hero, a stubborn, not exactly damsel in distress kind of heroine, and quite a lot of steam, I'm positive this book will easily be a 5 star read for you.
I was immediately pulled into the story, even though I haven’t read the previous book in the series. I actually enjoyed the idea of a female firefighter in a man’s world. The plot was intriguing enough to keep me turning page after page, especially when it became clear that something big was going on at the station—in some parts, this felt a little like a romantic suspense novel, and there were a few edge-of-your-seat moments that left me holding my breath.
My one pet peeve was that there was too much sex, and in too much detail (at some point almost a whole chapter was a very graphic description of the two of them having sex. Yeah, I get it, I’m being prudish, but really, I just wanted to solve the mystery and know if they’d ever have more than just a good time between the sheets). This could have easily been a 5* read for me if the sex scenes had been fade-to- black. Because of this, when the "L" word was said out loud, it came almost as a surprise, since it seemed all there was between them was a strong physical attraction in the I-can't-keep-my-hands-off-you kind of way but neither had any interest in having more.
If you don’t mind a steamy read, I recommend getting this book, even if you haven’t read the previous one.
