My friend…. Wrote a BOOK! I’m so proud I can’t believe I’m holding it in my hands. I’ve never read a storyline like this— I was really fascinated by Patricks backstory (👀) and of course it left me on a CLIFFHANGER. There better be a book 2… or else……
First let’s talk about the dedication, I was crying at 7 am when I read it. So special!!
Now, let’s dive into the review of this book. This urban adult fantasy was exquisitely written. It is dual POV so we get the best of both worlds with the two MMCs. I enjoyed how the author brought us through this story, it is fairly fast paced which keeps you on the edge of your seat. The inner monologue and experiences MMC, Patrick, had, felt very relatable, making me more captivated by this story. The love story that unfolded in this book was beautiful and hopeful.
I laughed, I had some tears, I smiled, and my cortisol levels increased from time to time… AKA all things I absolutely LOVE in a book.
That ending though… talk about a cliffhanger! I can’t wait for book 2!!
A new author to me and I enjoyed his style of writing. 2 men come together in New York. 1 a vampire the other a nearly human born of vampire parents. Interesting story backfilling the secret of Simon's life. The book does end on a kind of cliffie so I am hoping there will be a follow up.
On a separate note: I dont usually comment about formatting but I think this needs someone to cast their eye over it and sort the formatting. There are several different fonts used ( at one point I thought the font changed when the POV changed but no) and also there is double and single spacing which looks odd.
I really wanted to like it. The plot sounded great. But I didn't enjoy it. DNF halfway through. The author was redundant in her writing. We learned their internal feelings about somthing, then she told us several more times. She explained their background and then repeated it again. Told us their work struggles, then told us again. She fast forward through scenes and interactions in order to repeat the emotional state explanations. Maybe if this was edited and republished I'd would give it a second chance.
A quick read. This one didn't work for me. It was on the vague-side, but then got too detailed on the history-side. Maybe the next in the series will really get the storyline going.
