When I saved you, I didn't know you would take my heart.
Ceridor Before I left home to become a traveling bard, I watched my younger brother play with the twins who were set to inherit the neighboring kingdom. Ever since those much happier days, I'd kept an eye on the twins, Effie and Johann, while visiting their court in disguise.
Johann When I was little, my whole world was lit up by the regent prince who'd spent so many happy hours singing stories and legends to me. When I became a man and a warrior, eager for my birthright, I realized the full extent of what the traveling bard Ceridor now meant to me.
Two princes of neighboring kingdoms in the war-torn Danubian plains are forced to go undercover and run for their lives. Now more than a little bit jaded, they must confront their love and the future they want together as mysterious and magical forces awaken deep within the land.
Ceridor is a 45,000-word MM romance with mages and warriors in an Arthurian dark age of Central Europe in the 25th century. Although each book of the Danubian series features a different romance, due to a continuing plot, the series is best read in order.
Ceridor is the fourth book in the Danubian series. Although each book of the Danubian series features a different romance, due to a continuing plot, the series is best read in order. This is the story of Johann and Ceridor. I'm loving this series and this is just another great book in it. I love the world Charlie Godwyne has created here. I loved watching these two figure everything out. I wish there was more time spent with them together but that's my only wish. I would definitely recommend this book and series.
A lovely fourth book in the series, that I read within a week! If you are an avid fantasy reader then this is perfect for you. The romance was swoon-worthy and the chemistry perfect!
CERIDOR is the fourth book in the Danubian series, and you really need to read these in order because of the over-reaching story arc.
Johann and Ceridor have known each other for a long time, since Johann was a child, in fact. He had feelings for Ceridor that he couldn't name until he was in his teens, and by that time, Ceridor has disappeared. Johann's life wasn't the best, even if he was a prince, and it comes to a head when Ulbrecht pays a visit to his father. Johann and Effie make a new life for themselves, and Ceridor reappears in Johann's life.
This was a fast-paced story that showcased Johann's commitment to his sister, Ceridor, and his people - not necessarily in that order. He is not afraid of hard work, whether physical or mental, and loves hard with Ceridor whenever they have the opportunity. To be honest, I would have preferred a little less of the loving and more time seeing their connection grow and develop.
Effie is thankful to be out from under her father's thumb and is also not afraid of hard work. She is in no rush to get married, which wasn't surprising, considering it had been used as a threat against her for years. Magnus is Ceridor's brother and also shows support to the story. It feels as though the story is heating up, with players slotting into place. I can't wait to see where it goes next.
A great addition to the series that had a bit of an abrupt ending for me. I look forward to reading more in this series and have no hesitation in recommending it.

As children, Prince Johann and his twin sister, Effie, used to play with the two princes of a neighboring kingdom. Now Ceridor, one of those princes, has become a talented bard. He never forgot the twins and often returned in disguise to check on them. Now years later, he rescues them when their kingdom is conquered. The twins find new lives but Johann cannot forget the promise made to him by the High King that he could return and fight with his men and maybe get his kingdom back. Johann and Ceridor have gotten so much closer and they want to have a future together. They have some choices to make regarding the future and the magic inherent in both of them.
This is the fourth book in the Danubian series. It would be better appreciated if read in order. Friends from previous books appear in Ceridor. It is fun to see them all working together and helping each other. Watching the four princes growing and changing was a delight. Johann was ready for so much more while Ceridor was incredible with his dedication to being a bard and to helping Johann. This story is a stepping stone to the next one and not to be missed. I received a complimentary copy of this book. This review is my honest opinion.
4/5 I enjoyed the story of Johann and Ceridor being childhood friends and then able to develop to more once Johann was older. I liked how Johann’s priority was his people and land whether or not he ruled it. I liked his devotion to his sister, and her non-traditional relationship. I liked Johann’s focus on learning magic and self-improvement. I wish we’d gotten a little more time spent between the two of them where it wasn’t just time in bed. (This is logical enough; they spend a lot of time apart, and they have explosive reunions when they get back together. But I felt like I was missing a bit of feeling that deeper connection.) I like how they work together and they don’t have all the answers, but they’re trying to work with their friends for the best possible outcome for the region.
I received an ARC from GRR. This is my honest review.
They have a history that starts in a much calmer time when Ceridor would visit with Johann and his sister. Subsequently, he visits them in secret to keep an eye on them and then plays a role in rescuing them when they need it. Johann has now grown up and the relationship that began in childhood deepens as they are both adults. Johann wants to fight for his kingdom and his people and he needs Ceridor to work with him. In this story we see them come together and work together for the future they want. Their story is not done yet, there is more to this series, but this story seemed to nicely set up what is coming in the next book. Looking forward to it.I received an ARC from GRR and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really love the world the author has created for this series of books. Ceridor and Johann are amazing characters. I like seeing them build their relationship as adults after being childhood friends followed by a separation (without contact) for many years. I love the magic the characters practice and that it's different from what most people would consider magic. This book is primarily Ceridor and Johann's story, but there is some definite overlap from the previous books in this series. It is recommended to read the books in order. This book does have a HFN for Ceridor and Johann, but the overarching story line isn't finished. I am ready for the next book whenever it comes. I'm pretty sure at this point I will read anything this author writes. I have greatly enjoyed each of their books.
The great world building in this series continues and I love the story here where childhood memories contribute to adult feelings for Ceridor and Johann. It was lovely the way Ceridor kept watch on the twins in secret and was prepared to act when necessary. Initially, things all seemed positive but as Johann has to decide what he wants relative to his kingdom and the two of them have to hash out their relationship there are positive and negatives that must be weighed for any choice they make. Not to mention that they first have to survive to get to make any choices. Another winner in the series.
First of all I would like to say that the writing is so beautiful and a delight to read. It's so refreshing to read something different and poetic. The world the author created is very unique and interesting. I personally find the idea of future dark ages genius. What I liked about this book is that the main storyline is getting clearer. But still not clear enough, and all the talk and details about the spiritual side of the story make it heavy to read in some places. The characters are sweet and gentle but may be a little too much. Nobody is that perfect.
Absolutely loved this Danubian series from Charlie. I do recommend you read the previous books as their is an underlying plot throughout. Each book has been a riveting read and I thoroughly enjoyed this story following Johann and Ceridor. Having grown up together their journey from a childhood crush into a true romance was so lovely. This as well as the great action packed storyline made this a great conclusion to the series. I received a free arc copy and this is my honest review
He went undercover to be a traveling bard and he enjoyed the time he spent with the twins of the kingdom next door. Life is not going to be easy when two kingdoms are close to all out war and it could change everything. A great tale
I received am ARC copy and greatly enjoyed the story of Johann and Ceridor. They grew up together from neighboring boarders.Ceridor is a region prince turned traveling bard/spy while Johann is a prince twelve years his junior. This is a story of a childhood crush turned true love, filled with war, magic and sprites. Great read. Charlie has amazing talent for story telling.
