Having stolen the pickup, Ole Bessy, from the Resistance, Jack, Samantha, and Will find themselves on the run once again. Pursued by those who had once kept them as captives, they are forced to flee into the unknown.
Now that Tammy’s secret has been exposed, she reveals to her friends a prophecy of her people, further complicating the web of fate the siblings find themselves in.
Finding both new allies and new foes, revealed secrets will lead them all to ‘The City of Angels’ to face the ultimate threat by the invaders themselves.
First and foremost I am a father and a husband. I work full time as a civilian employed by the US army, and have also been known as a welder, electrician, carpenter, roofer, writer, painter, CNC machinist, and amongst many other things a romantic. I also belong to the eternal fraternal brotherhood of the United States Marine Corps, having served 8 years that showed me a much broader perspective of the world at large serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, The war on Terrorism, and the humanitarian effort in Liberia.
I currently live in southern Louisiana with my wife and children, though I grew up in Michigan, graduating high school in Mason MI. I also spent time living in North Carolina, Florida, and California during my time in the United States Marine Corps. I have always dreamed of publishing my work, and seeing it on a bookshelf in a store, however with the huge shift to digital media I finally realized that the dream was in my own hands. I tell my children that they can live their dreams, and I believe in leading by example.
I enjoy writing across several different genres from poetry, to children's stories, to full epic fantasies. Creating new characters for my readers to connect with, new worlds for them to immerse themselves in, and new ideas to wrap their minds around is an amazing if not humbling experience. I hope that all my readers can take something away from each of my books, and enjoy reading them just as much as I have enjoyed putting them in print.
In this third book of the series the 4 main characters may actually be getting ready to add a 5th main character, but only the next book will prove right or wrong. As the 3 original siblings adapt to their powers it is a delight to see the bond that holds them together, yet seeks to protect what could have originally been an enemy.
Fantastic! Can't wait for the fourth book in this series. This book brought about a lot of surprises of what these kids can do. I can't wait to find out what's next.
Evolution is the third book in the Children of the After Series. Jack, Sam, Will, and Tammy have just escaped the resistance and they are on the run again. The group runs into Tammy’s species and they learn about an interesting prophecy. Now they must decide if they are the hero’s in the prophecy or just ordinary children. I enjoyed book 3 and now I’m moving into the last book.
Book three of the series is just as fast paced, and exciting, as the previous two. Although geared towards a young audience, I am thoroughly enjoying the books.
After reading the first two books in almost a frenzy, I was surprised when I found myself not nearly as enamored of Evolution as I was the other books in Children of the After series. I really try to judge each book based on it's own merits but a large part of my problem with this book was that where the other books were dark and moved at a fast pace, this book had an almost whimsical feel to it which was almost jarring if you move straight from the other books into this one.
I also felt a little frustrated that I feel like there's ground well covered that we revisit in this book. Again, perhaps this is the author assuming that the reader hasn't moved straight from one book into the next. I'm mostly talking about the familial roles that each of our siblings has assumed, Jack is the caretaker, Sam is taking over the Mom role, and Will is still very much a kid into candy and eating, all the time. I'm wondering if the importance placed on these characteristics is going to become meaningful down the road.
With all of that said, I didn't hate this book or anything, I just didn't love it the way I loved the other books in this series. Of course, I'll keep reading to see what happens next.
Being a complete apocalypse junkie I powered through Evolution book 3 after enjoying the other 2 so much; but annoyingly didn't find it as compelling as the first two in the series. But Im sure this is just a slight slow down maybe ready for book 4? I understand you cant keep up the fast pace or it could get too samely.
Saying that I thoroughly enjoyed the 3 kids practicing their new superpowers and I'm really loving little Will's brilliantly developing character. Its wonderful not just to see him thinking for himself but thinking out things too.
Just to say Im well above the age group of this series...eeep...young at heart though...but still enjoyed this read and will be reading book 4 ASAP.
The terrific trio of Jack, Sam and Will, joined by new friend Tammy return in this third book of the series to more post-apocalyptic adventures. They continue to meet more survivors, and more invaders who are both friend and foe, and discover new strengths in themselves which surprise and delight both themselves and the reader. Don't miss out on meeting "Fairy Pickle" whose introduction adds a new level to the story. A+
This is the third book in the series and so very disappointing. I still feel that the entire series should have been one book only. Repetitive and unoriginal in many ways, I would not recommend these books to my young boys.
Fantasy with moral lessons.Enough levity as they are children, amusing characters.Light and easy read.good for kids who light superheroes.Next book please.
With new friends come new discoveries. With new discoveries come new responsibilities. Enjoying every page. Would recommend it to anyone, especially teens.
