This evening’s gem has a monster both subtle and evil. The gem came to me in the form of a horse chestnut, or as they are known in Ohio, a Buckeye.
I turned it over in my claws and it cracked open, spilling a black, vicious smelling substance on to the floor where it ate a small hole in the woodwork. This is gem maker Darin Miller’s “Reunion”.
Set in Southern Ohio along the river and foothills to the Appalachians, Mr. Miller weaves a tale of mystery, murder and mayhem involving a guy named Richard Dwayne Morrow, who just wants to go to his 15th high school reunion, see his old friends after all this time and head back to his life on the outskirts of Columbus and his computer business.
Instead Dwayne finds out his best friend from highschool, Ryan, is dead, murdered just a few days before. There are no suspects. No clues. The local constabulary doesn’t seem to be in any big hurry to find either. Ryan’s mother asks Dwayne to see what he can find out and reluctantly he agrees.
Our reluctant detective suddenly discovers that his old stomping grounds has a monster with a skull tattoo, a knife and the uncanny ability to find Dwayne.
I have been reading mysteries since I was cutting my fangs and this ranks in the top ten. The characters are very realistic, no over the top stereotypes here. The situations, the places, the atmosphere is absolutely perfect. I live in this neck of the woods and I felt these folk could be my next door neighbors. The writing is superb. The plot and it’s twists had me hanging on to every page. I read this novel in just over 24 hours. I had the bloodshot eyes to prove it.
If you love mysteries, monsters and an excellent tale told well, you’ll kick yourself if you don’t read it. It’s sold where all good books are sold. I look forward to the next in the Dwayne Morrow Mysteries.
Until next time I remain your humble Book Dragon,

Listened to the audiobook and LOVED it! Gripping story with fascinating characters and expert narration! The voices for each character were all so specific that I kept forgetting it was all the work of one person. I can’t wait to continue the series! It’s clear that this author and narrator work well together.

I was fortunate to discover this author at the Columbus Book Festival. Dwayne Morrow may be no Harry Bosch or Lucas Davenport, but this unlikely crime solver is certainly an interesting character. Miller is certainly a talented writer. He crafted an interesting and entertaining story with fluid, normal, easy language and well-developed characters. This was a quite enjoyable reading experience, but I personally felt the conclusion got a little sloppy and became difficult for me to believe. Still, the overall experience was enjoyable and I'm certain I'll read the next in the series soon.

Reunion: Dwayne Morrow Mystery #1 is a very solid outing by new-to-me author, Darin Miller. This guy is a helluva writer, I'll tell ya. When Dwayne Morrow, a mild-mannered, everyman IT wiz gets an invite to his 15-year high school reunion, he can't say no. Most of us know what high school reunions can be like and, admittedly, I just went to my first last summer––it was more like a Dawn of the Dead cast party, mine. I digress.
Dwayne finds out that his former bestie from back in the day was recently murdered, which is both tragic and baffling. Having lost track of his friend, and everyone else they used to hang with over the years, it turns out a lot of water has gone under the bridge and a lot has transpired. Not all of it good....
As a favor to another friend, this everyman gets sucked into an investigation and he's clearly out of his depth. There are plenty of sketchy acquaintances, and danger lurks around every corner.
Set in small towns in Ohio, this mystery is well-plotted, rich in detail, and the cast of characters (many of which might be suspects) are well-drawn. Full of intrigue, this story will keep you guessing until the very end. Thankfully, there are now a half dozen mysteries in the series, and I look forward to the next installment. Recommended.

This is the start of something grand

If you like very well written characters caught up in a perfectly woven plot, wrapped in a style that gives a true mystery story its charm, you'll love the first installment of the Dwayne Morrow mysteries.

First the characters: they are all so real and richly developed I felt I knew them like old friends after a few pages. Darin Miller managed to make them so life-like I felt sad to leave them after finishing the book.

The plot is air-tight. A master's class in writing a proper murder/mystery plot, with no loose ends. And the ball kept rolling. There was not a moment when I felt I could put the book down. Finished it in two days.

The writing brought me back to the joys of
reading Raymond Chandler. The author knows his craft, and I enjoyed the ride the way you do in first class when the pilot is a true master.

I am not waiting to start the next book "Circumvention". I have a new name to add to my list of favourite authors.

Mystery, humor, intrigue, and downright fantastic writing has made Reunion by Darin Miller a new favorite. I was immediately invested in the story. Dwayne Morrow is a good a natured and unassuming guy, who is not only quick witted, but also a little self deprecating, a winning combination that is both charming and endearing. The descriptive and detailed writing really enhanced the narrative by making the reader feel as though they were actually taking part in the story, experiencing everything first hand. I was shocked to find out that this was a debut novel and simply ecstatic to know that there are many more in the series. I am really looking forward to reading the next book, Circumvention to see where Miller picks up with Dwayne's story and to see what kind of trouble he finds himself into next.

This was a great start to what I hope will be a long running series.

Reunion” by Darin Miller, introduces readers to Richard Dwayne Morrow, a self-employed computer contractor who receives an invitation for his high school reunion. Rich, as he is known since leaving his high school town, is thrown back to his small town once he receives word that his best friend in high school is dead and the funeral will take place before the reunion.

Upon hitting his small hometown, Rich is turned right back to being Dwayne, as he was known throughout his childhood. Dwayne learns that his best friend, Ryan, was murdered. Ryan’s mom, who was a second mom to Dwayne growing up, asks him to investigate her son’s murder, as he is one of the few that knew how Ryan thought. Will Dwayne, who has no investigative skills to speak of, be able to figure out what exactly happened to Ryan, or will Ryan’s death remain unsolved?

Dwayne’s characterization is your standard, run-of-the-mill, computer geek which in today’s world, we are familiar with. However, he’s definitely not the nerd that one might imagine; just the guy who fixes computers with some mysterious magic touch. This reader thinks that anyone who has left their hometown can relate to how Dwayne feels about coming back to his hometown and the fear of getting sucked back into that mindset. This includes the anxiety of seeing high school classmates that he has not spoken to in years, in addition to attempting to solve his friend’s murder.

The plot of “Reunion” is a typical small-town murder mystery but has a lot of suspects with their own unique personalities. The small town helps showcase these personalities and how everyone ends up interlocking with each other in some form. The action, especially at the end, is fast-paced and exciting with lots of small plot twists. “Reunion” certainly is not a boring book.

Overall, “Reunion” by Darin Miller is a great mystery. It is a complete mystery with no lingering subplots that would indicate any additional stories. With that said, this is the first of the Dwayne Morrow Mysteries and this reader is curious enough to wonder what else Dwayne gets himself into in future books.

I went into Reunion by Darin Miller half-expecting the kind of paint-by-numbers reunion mystery I’ve seen a hundred times: some old football star turning up dead, old flames rekindled, secrets finally spilling over cheap drinks. And yes, it’s got a high school reunion, but by chapter one, Miller signals this is going to be darker, faster, and far more personal than the usual nostalgia tour. Dwayne Morrow, our protagonist, arrives in his Ohio hometown after decades away, only to find his best friend’s corpse stuffed in his own car. The police don’t seem eager to look too deeply into it. And that’s the real engine of this novel. Nobody else wants to dig into the truth except Dwayne, and he’s spectacularly unqualified for the job.

What I appreciated immediately is that Miller doesn’t just coast on the high-concept setup. He builds a legitimate puzzle. Dwayne starts probing into who his friend was dealing with in the days leading up to his death, and there’s real tension as he discovers threads tying his friend to shady characters and hidden past betrayals. There’s a hired private investigator who may or may not be on the level, a mysterious business deal that might have gone sideways, and whispers of old scandals from high school days that never fully died. The investigation keeps widening the circle of suspicion, which is exactly what I want in a small-town murder mystery.

One of Miller’s strengths is how he uses the reunion itself as a crucible. Everyone’s putting on their adult, successful faces, wearing masks and pretending the past is past, but you can feel how every conversation has landmines underneath it. Some classmates are snooty, some clingy, some flat-out menacing, and Miller lets those interactions drip with subtext. I could feel the awkwardness of running into people who used to define your world, and who now might be hiding a murder.
Dwayne himself carries the whole narrative. He’s not superhuman. He doesn’t suddenly turn into Sherlock Holmes. He’s a normal guy who sometimes makes dumb choices out of grief, fear, or sheer stubbornness. And yet he’s driven by loyalty to his dead friend and to the idea that somebody should give a damn. His voice has a dry humor, and he’s endearingly exasperated when people feed him half-truths or try to steer him off the case. He’s the kind of character who feels like he’s carrying the weight of unfinished business, both for himself and for everyone else.

One thing I’d warn readers is that while this book has humor sprinkled in, it’s not a cozy mystery. There’s an undercurrent of real violence and moral ugliness that keeps surfacing, and that’s my kind of party. Miller isn’t afraid to make his small-town characters a little ruthless, and some chapters get surprisingly intense. The book also avoids a neat morality. Dwayne sometimes has to bend rules, push people, or even question how far he’s willing to go. That ambiguity adds depth and keeps the pages turning.

As for the ending, Miller pulls it off. The pieces come together in a way that makes sense but still manages to surprise. When the killer is revealed, it forces you to look back at earlier chapters and realize how subtly Miller planted the clues. It’s a rare pleasure to see a mystery that doesn’t rely on some gimmicky last-minute twist but instead earns its solution through solid groundwork. And that’s why, when I finished Reunion, I immediately added book two to my list.

There are two things that get me to buy a book almost immediately: a stunning cover or one heck of a premise. Miller’s got the latter on absolute lockdown. I loved this book. It’s the kind of mystery that reminds me why I keep coming back to the genre, with smart plotting, a real human core, and a story that doesn’t flinch from moral complexity. Now the only problem is figuring out how I’m going to find time to read the other seven books in this series. Because if the rest of the Dwayne Morrow mysteries are this good, or, God help me, even better, just take my money now for the whole run.

Book Review: Reunion – Darin Miller

Reunion by Darin Miller is the first in the Dwayne Marrow Mystery series. In this mystery, we meet Richard 'Dwayne' Marrow as he preps himself to attend his 15-year high school reunion. He discovers that his best friend from high school, Ryan, whom had lost touch with over the years, has been murdered. Because the police don't seem interested in investigating, Ryan's mother persuades Dwayne to try to find out what had happened to Ryan. Dwayne knows that he has no experience, training, or even knowledge to even start to look for answers. He turns to others for help, including former classmates (one being a private investigator), Ryan’s wife (Melanie) and former girlfriend (Monica). The more he questions these possible suspects the fewer answers he gets and the more secrets that keep arising.

The setting was so well written that I thought I was right there with the characters. "Reunion" takes place during the fall months close to winter in Lymont, Ohio. This gave the story a dreary and dreadful atmosphere that resembled the situations that were occurring in Dwayne's life. The setting seemed to fit the characters' personalities perfectly – from Sarah's home to Doug's office to Sonya's trailer to the observation deck of Greenup Dam, Miller made it extremely easy for me to use my imagination and picture these scenes vividly.

The characters were impressive. Their personalities were so different from one another that it was easy to tell that the characters had known each other from the past. They were written in a way to make the storyline that much more believable. Although there were a lot of characters in "Reunion" they all played an extremely important role that kept me wanting to read more to see what was going to happen next. In addition, the way that the characters reacted to events in this story, whether it is through dialogue or actions was spot on. It was amazing to see how Dwayne's personality and his way of thinking had changed as the story progressed.

The plot in "Reunion" was amazing. It kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. The plot twists were great and they just kept coming. Not everything had happened all at once so the pace of reading was perfect. Pieces of information and clues would be presented in a way that kept me not only guessing but turning pages as well. I felt like something important was constantly happening. The initial hook of the story implies drama and conflict as we find out Ryan McGregor is dead. The plot certainly delivered on its premise.

All in all, I would have to rate "Reunion" 5 out of 5 Stars because I enjoyed everything about this book. There was no confusion as to what the author was trying to put across. There weren't any repetitive events or dialogue and the ending caught me off guard (which I loved). The characters were well written and memorable while each had a distinct voice and unique personality. The plot was unique and kept my attention giving me the perfect reading pace. While "Reunion" is the first book that I have read by Darin Miller, I cannot wait to dive into "Circumvention" - the second book in the Dwayne Marrow Mystery series.

“Reunion” by Darin Miller is a must read, after all the best mysteries are the ones you can’t put down.

Dwayne Morrow went back for a high school reunion, but ended up going to a funeral as well. When an old high school friend gets murdered, Dwayne decides to seek the truth on his own. As questions pile up and the suspect list grows ever longer, he begins to wonder just how well he really knew his old friend, and begins to worry that he might become this mystery's latest victim...

As the first in the series, I wasn't sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised! Miller takes the time to introduce us to our hero, ensuring we understand that this is not a situation he's trained for but is still willing to take part in. Morrow seems to fumble through his investigation at times, and leans heavily on allies when his lack of expertise proves detrimental to the process. Still, as the novel progresses, Morrow finds his footing more and more, and it's his unshakable desire to see this thing through that drives the novel forward. His flaws make the book interesting, but his strengths make it worth reaching the end.

Miller does a good job injecting a bit of character voice into his descriptions, and most the time I felt like I was reading a transcript of Morrow's very thoughts of his hometown and its residents. Little dashes of humor here and there really lend a level of humanity to the piece. The way Miller painstakingly describes the setting does a great job of putting you there, though it can be a bit much at times. Despite how much I enjoyed this book, I did find myself skimming the description at times. Luckily, the character interactions more than made up for the slow points. All of his characters feel real and unique, and even though Miller named drops A LOT throughout the book, I never had trouble differentiating characters.

Overall, this book shows a lot of promise for the series, and I can only imagine the prose and plot will get better in future entries!

Books about small towns always feel like I’m stepping back into my hometown. This one…it felt like that too, only it felt like I was being enveloped in a familiar hug. Small towns are a special thing. They have a life of their own that people just don’t understand if you’ve never lived in one. Where everybody knows everybody…secrets don’t stay secret…and things can get all tangled up in a hurry. It’s absolutely the perfect setting for an amateur detective to make his debut.

Reunion is wonderfully written. Told from the point of view of Dwayne Morrow, who is just trying to get back to his hometown to attend a high school reunion. His plans are irrevocably changed when he learns that his best friend from high school has been murdered. He attends the funeral…and subsequently gets wrapped up in finding out what happened, since the police don’t seem to be doing their job. Jilted lovers, crazy friends, a wife that was filing for divorce, and a story that doesn’t quite add up. It’s clear that Dwayne’s friend changed a lot after graduation. He’s not sure he even knows him anymore…but that’s not stopping him from trying to unravel the mystery that’s unfolding around him.

This story is SO good. It has some really excellent inner monologue ranging from sarcastic quips to self-deprecating embarrassment. Dwayne is a man who knows who he is and has no grandiose opinions. The author also did a really great job on describing the relationship between feline and owner (although the feline is often the boss). It was refreshing to see a thoroughly unqualified individual turned detective that wasn’t invincible or a master at martial arts. Dwayne has flaws…he makes mistakes…and he’s not a professional by any means. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and I can’t wait to read more from the series.

Reunion by Darin Miller was an unexpected gem! When you first meet Dwayne Morrow, he strikes you as the kind of guy who gets through life by doing just enough to get by and being happy with that until he’s invited to his 15-year class reunion and decides to attend. When he calls to make his RSVP, he learns his best friend in high school has just been killed, and the murderer is at large.

Richard ‘Dwayne’ returns to his hometown in Ohio, a mere two hours away, to stay at his parent’s house so he can attend the funeral of his buddy Ryan and check in with the reunion committee. He doesn’t expect Ryan’s mom to ask him to investigate the murder. Dwayne? Investigate a murder? He’s an IT guy, not a PI. Sarah won’t take no for an answer, so Dwayne begins a bumbling investigation that doesn’t get him far until he connects with Ryan’s widow and begins to learn who Ryan has become in the last fifteen years.

Dwayne has some missteps, stepped on some land mines, and makes unexpected connections as he tries to figure out why killed Ryan and why. The dialogue was witty and thoughtful and made you feel like you were there with Dwayne and Melanie as they tried to figure out heads or tails of Ryan’s secret life. There were plenty of ah-ha moments and surprise revelations, and through it all, you learn who Dwayne Morrow is and what truly motivates him in life.

If you’re looking for a well-developed whodunnit with characters you can’t help but like, you want to start The Dwayne Morrow mystery series today! I’ve already cracked the spine on book two! You can count on Mr. Miller to keep you entertained and your mind occupied as you journey with Dwayne through his past as he looks to his future.

This isn’t just any reunion.

“Reunion” is Darin Miller’s debut novel in the Dwayne Marrow Mystery series. As this story begins, Richard 'Dwayne' Marrow decides to attend his 15-year high school reunion. While making his RSVP, he discovers that his best friend, Ryan McGregor, has been murdered. Ryan's mother asks Dwayne to find out what had happened to Ryan. Dwayne is an IT guy! He’s not a sleuth! But, he’s willing to do as his “second mother” requests. And that includes seeking the advice of a private investigator, and interrogating Ryan’s wife (Melanie), his former girlfriend (Monica), Ryan’s former employers, and even his bowling buddies. Unfortunately, Dwayne’s questions only lead to more questions and fewer answers, as he bumbles around, trying to make sense out of it all. For his trouble, he’s attacked and those around him are in mortal danger. Dwayne’s not sure he ever really knew Ryan - - could he have changed that much in 15 years?

"Reunion" takes place in and around Lymont, Ohio. The full descriptions give the reader the opportunity to visualize Dwayne’s hometown: the numbered country roads, the observation deck of Greenup Dam, the trailer park residences, the fancier homes, and the entire surrounding area.

The characters were richly drawn - - the reader knew that they had known each other all their lives, giving the essence of a close small town. Each one played an integral role in the mystery, as it developed.

The book held my attention throughout; and, though I pride myself in being able to figure out whodunnits, this book captured me until the end. There’s even humor sprinkled in - - but, make no mistake, this is not a cozy little mystery.

And, with #8 soon to be released, I’ve got a lot of adventures ahead, as I try to catch up.

This was my first read from Darin Miller, and I must say two things: first, why did I wait so long? And two, I need to get my hands on the next book ASAP.

Reunion follows my new favorite Pepsi-addicted amateur sleuth, Dwayne Morrow, who immediately bites off more than he can chew. As he begins to look deeper into the truth, his perception of his old high school best friends begins to unravel into something Dwayne could never imagine. There were so many little clues that I wanted to grab my yellow legal pad and pen and piece them together with our dear Detective Morrow.

The entirety of the book was a real page turner. So much so, that I finished it in a day. I could not put it down. Just when I thought I had all the pieces of the puzzle put together, that ending was utterly different. High stakes and dangerous new territory kept me hooked from page one.

But what also drew me in was how relatable Dwayne is. He is t your typical hero. He’s just a regular guy that was pulled into some rather extraordinary circumstances. And the small-town vibes took me to my own childhood in B.F.E, Ohio. The characters in the book were people from that town (not in the literal sense, but in the mannerisms and the way they spoke. Us south/southeastern Ohioans have a certain dialect that is easy to place if you know what to listen for.). Don’t get me wrong, the mystery is fantastically written, but these characters stood out to me. I could easily see the places he described because, again, I know exactly the types of places he wrote about.

All of this to say, I truly enjoyed the book and I can’t wait to dive deeper into the world of Dwayne Morrow!

One of the best mystery books I've read in a good long time. The main character, Dwayne Morrow, is tasked with investigating the death of one of his best friends from his high school days. Only Dwayne isn't a PI at all. One of my favorite things about his character was that he wasn't one of those perfect, "I know everything" people. In fact, more than once, he's forced to remind himself to think before acting. He's delightfully charming, witty, and dead determined to see this investigation through, despite his lack of experience... and all the danger that imposes.

Overall, the author has an uncanny knack for dropping the reader into the story in such a way that you kind of forget you're reading. That being said, there were many times I had to stop and reread something because the way Miller wrote it was so dang good! His unique, fun descriptions of setting (even if you've never visited the Midwest, you'll feel like you have), along with his well-placed witticism, made this such a great read, and by the halfway point, I was ignoring all the things I "should" be doing so I could finish this book!

I'll definitely be reading the rest of this series, and I absolutely recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun, refreshing, witty, keep-you-flipping-pages whodunit!

I got to know about Darin Miller through his social media presence, and quickly sought out his work, since it is exactly my kind of thing.

Reunion, the first in the Dwayne Morrow series, is about a man who returns to his dead-end hometown only to find himself quickly embroiled in murder and mystery.

There's something cosy about these small town murder mysteries. And Miller makes it work brilliantly here, with mysteries abound, secrets aplenty, and an engaging main character who isn't some brilliant detective or PI. Morrow is an ordinary guy who wants to find out what happened to his friend, and I think this is the novel's greatest strength.

Sudden, unexplained, and unnatural death disturbs us. We want to know the why and the who and the how. And author Darin Miller taps into that here with Morrow just wanting to find out what happened to his friend.

It leads us to automatically invest in his struggle and put us in his shoes.

We follow him through the exceptionally well-crafted mystery, as keen to find out the truth as he is.

This book will make you glad that Dwayne Morrow is a series character, as you'll want to see him again after this one.

And since there are already 5 books in the series, you can just grab them all at once. I highly reccomend it.

I have so many things to say about this book!!

1st- Love Love Love this writing style. I strive to write this way! The details are painted so vividly, I can play the book like a movie in my head.

2nd- The character development is superb!! I can see these characters in my head. Honestly, they remind me of people I know in real life. The descriptions of places are done so vividly! I feel like I have been to Lymont!

The Plot- Dwayne Morrow is a computer guy turned untrained private investigator in the first installment of the Dwayne Morrow Mysteries series. Headed to his hometown for his high school reunion, he is informed his high school best friend was murdered. Returning home to attend the funeral, he is pulled into a dangerous mystery involving the death of his friend.

Everything gets woven together and it all comes to a climactic end. I will definitely be reading the rest of this series and Darin Miller has a new fave fan!

Overall Impression- LOVED IT!!

Reunion

What a great book! Dwayne Morrow is a down to earth IT guy, but by the end of Reunion, he has become a detective through circumstances. The story begins when Dwayne agrees to attend his 15 year class reunion and learns his best friend from high school, Ryan, has been murdered. Even though he hasn't had contact with him in those 15 years, his murder is highly disturbing and the local police are doing little to nothing to find the killer. Rich's mother, Sarah, asks Dwayne to see what he can find out about who and why someone would want her son dead. From that point, the adventure begins. Reunion is a page turner that will keep you up long past your bedtime. I loved everything about the book, the storyline, characters, pacing and satisfying ending. Definitely a five-star book.

This was different in that Dwayne was pulled in to investigate and had no idea what that could mean, so it was interesting to read. As in life, some people had strange attitudes that he had to dig into. There was not a lot of over the top stuff, which is good. There were times when I was thinking "dummy!" in what he was doing, but had to remind myself that people do dumb things at times, Dwayne was no way perfect. No glaring holes, I had suspicions about some close actors that I'm very glad did not pan out, because that would be too convenient and contrived. Going to the end, well, the OK Corral had fewer guns. I'm not sure that the author wasn't around a corner shooting, too.?
I was impressed that the ending didn't include the obvious get together of 2 prime people. And it moved at a good pace and was easy to read.

I received this copy on the Kindle format. I actually listened twice. While the narration wasn't spectacular, the story line was imaginative and interesting. The story takes place during a High School's 15th reunion. Some of the classmates have kept in close touch, while others have drifted apart. Dwayne Morrow is approached by his long lost buddy's mother, with the request that he investigate her son's death. She doesn't believe that the police are giving the case the attention it deserves. Dwayne feels guilty for allowing the friendship to go, and promises to get to the bottom of things. Enjoy this fun mystery that includes a few twists and turns along the way. I plan to binge listen to the next Dwayne Morrow books.

As I started reading this book, I felt like I couldn't put it down. The intrigue and suspense kept me turning each page. Dwayne is such a down to earth guy that gets pulled into a very serious situation, but some parts made me laugh too. His best friends mom asks him to find out who killed her son because the police force sure isn't doing a good job of it. Then throw in the best friends wife and daughter and it becomes a complete mess. It was unbelievable up until the very end. I loved it and can't wait to read the next one in series. Definitely 5 stars 🤩

Book Review
Darin Miller – Reunion
I absolutely love Dwayne Morrow’s books! Reunion, book 1 in the series, is the perfect introduction to Dwayne. What happens to him, could happen to anyone of us. It’s scarily believable. Losing touch with friends, a school reunion, making enemies, not knowing who to trust, and a healthy fear of being accused of murder. It’s difficult to solve a murder when you don’t know who to trust. The end was unpredictable, real, and I loved every minute of Dwayne’s story. I’m going to read them all!

Amazing book! I would have never guessed that this was the author’s first novel! The characters were well developed and the plot was fantastic. It was a great experience to read a book set in your home state where you can actually picture and know what the surroundings look like. Full of twists and turns and an unexpected ending. Overall I really enjoyed this mystery and look forward to the release of the next Dwayne Morrow mystery!

Good read

When Dwayne goes home for a high school reunion, he finds out his best friend has just been killed. As he talks to more people from his past, the mystery of what happened and why begins to take over his thoughts.

This was a very satisfying read. The plot made sense and the characters were complicated and interesting. I liked Dwayne, and I'll be reading more in this series.

I really enjoyed this book! Dwayne Morrow is just a regular guy who becomes a less-than-eager private investigator and ends up solving the case.

There are plenty of twists and turns, and I was kept guessing right alongside Dwayne. I will say that more than once I intended to pause reading at the end of a chapter, but when the end came I was unable to stop. I am definitely looking forward to continuing this series!

Class reunion brings out the secrets

Dwayne Morrow decides to attend his 15 year class reunion looking forward to catching up with Ryan, his best friend in high school. Nothing goes as planned. Ryan has been murdered, someone is looking for a mysterious item, no one is the same and Dwayne gets asked to look into his friend’s death.
The story has many twists and turns but you don’t lose interest. This series has potential.
