So that was a tiny bit better than the previous episode. The plot got a little more interesting. Still, I'm not feeling it. Too bad.
The highlight was that this has the first sex on page scene between Tan and his king, if I remember correctly. Lovely.

Despite being lovers and married for several months, Tan could never get used to the sight. All that lovely muscle rippling whenever Devan shifted or moved, the way the mellow lighting of the lanterns played over his amber skin, like a subtle foreplay. Tan damn near drooled. He swallowed hard, his groin heating.
Never mind that he’d had hot jungle sex with the man the night before. Never mind that he was a touch sore today because of it. None of that mattered.
Must. Get. Hands. On. That.

Not as much fun, too much sex

I'm in it for the story, because Tan is delightful and hilarious. Given that this is a short portion of a much longer story, it was disappointing to have to skim the (rather lengthy) bits about Devan and Tan in the bedroom. That left what felt like only a few chapters of actual story before this segment ended. Maybe I need to stop reading these as they come out and wait until I can read the full story, all in one go. Then having to skip scenes won't be quite so annoying.

Starting to feel a bit samey. The next bone located and honeymoon husbands. I did like Devan calling Wells for support and Tan's understanding. Other than that starting to feel like an rpg.

The Adventure Continues

At this point I don't know what to expect from this adventure. I feel like everything is going very smoothly and that the characters aren't having a real hard time achieving their goal, which is a bit boring to me.

But there are still more books to come, so I'm still hopeful.

a rollicking fabulous tale

Rating: 5🌈

When a story contains the phrase “For Bone Daddy” and its uttered by a army of skelebabies in the middle of a rollicking bone rattling battle, well, you just know the book is going to be epic.

For all its short length, Sherwood packs a ton of high quality action, snarky humor, dubious necromancer goings on, and an ever- widening search for the bones of a sentient skeleton dragon called Steve.

I’m so committed to this series and found family of absolutely glorious people, young sorcerers in training in tow included. It’s hilarious, sexy, stunning and entertaining on every level.

I can’t wait for the pirates.

Dive into the series right at the beginning and then follow along. It’s all fabulous.

Love these covers.

OK, RL has been a PITA, but I finally got back to the story... and can I just say, Lesia is one little bloodthirsty apprentice... I am sure Tan is just tickled pink with pride! 🤣🤣🤣

Not sure how I feel about the ending... but it will be a short wait, so I won't complain!!!

I just love these little adventures! I am so glad this author thought of this! LOL!!!

loving this. Tan is a hoot, Niran is just slightly scary, and Steve - well, he's a dragon without a body.

I’m reviewing all the stories together as it really is just one full book, each part starting where the previous ended. These aren’t short stories. They are groups of chapters.

There are lots of funny moments in this, although no laugh out loud ones. The quest seemed ridiculous at first—how many bones are in a dragon’s body? But it turned out the bones were just in groups. They hadn’t been broken up into very many individual pieces.

I liked the characters. At moments, Tan reminded me of one of the crazier of Alice Winters’ characters. The idea of Steve was funny although not as much in presentation. The apprentices were great and I loved the skeletons.

One thing I really didn’t like was that some horrible men harassed the 11-year-old apprentice, which they took very seriously, but they kept talking about them harassing women. Throughout the story, including at that point, she was referred to as a young girl. They weren’t just harassers-trying-to-be-rapists, they were child molesters. Yes, in medieval times (which this world seems modeled after) it wasn’t unheard of for eleven year olds to be married off, but my understanding is that females weren’t considered adults until menses. The younger children married off were for political reasons and weren’t made to have sex until they were older. At least that’s my impression. And certainly eleven is still quite young in this book’s world. So call the men what they are: child molesters.

The book was pretty sexist with very few women. Tan’s other sibling, a woman, was called in to help but left behind leaving the party still heavily skewed towards men. The female apprentice was great as was the female pirate and older woman but there were so few women and the good ones were all tiny, no big physically strong women. And then someone said something along the lines of knowing to never argue with an upset woman. How about an upset person? Or is it just women who can’t be logical when upset?

I didn’t like these quite as much as the first batch but they were still really good. The story was left with plenty of room for growth. I hope the author writes more. I’ll for sure read them.

One Leg Acquired.

Hmmm, 3 Bones (episodes) down, 3 to go. How the hell are our heroes going to get the rest of Steve’s skeleton in only 3 more Bones, the next one of which is going to include a battle with the top pirates of their age. They only acquired one leg in this Bone after all, sans foot, at that. Of course that was because the leg had been made into two swords. Our heroes had had to fight to recover each one. Feet bones don’t make for good swords, even dragon feet. That leaves a hell of a lot of skeleton missing. Can’t wait to see how it’s going to be accomplished. Yes my mind is on what’s to come. The story has been so good so far I can’t wait for the rest and that is firmly where my mind is, anticipating what is still to come. If you read this, you’ll understand exactly where I’m coming from.
Give me more, Give me. Give me. Sorry reverting to childhood. This story reminds me of the fairy tales from back then.

Should Devan have sent advance notice to Zaynab? Somehow, he felt like bringing Tan and his two apprentices into the city without forewarning wasn't sportsmanlike.

The quest continues in the search for Steve's missing bones! While I've enjoyed all of the installment in this series, this part in particular was a home run! The fact is - Devan is These two. *sigh*. <3

Also, for a series that has minimal spice, that shower scene was *fans face*...

After a major reveal at the end of Bone #2, Devan needs some time to recuperate from that news. After some cuddles over night with Tan, he feels better. The two husbands, the two apprentices, Necromancer "Bone Daddy" Niran, and sentient dragon head Steve set out again to find Steve's dragon bones again. This time they go to the far distant city Zaynab, a lawless and wretched hive of villainy where they uncover two bones. But things happen and plans go awry.... as usual.

This episode felt a little more focused, except for the unnecessary (and long) sex scene between Devan and Tan in the middle of the story that really served no purpose. It was better than the prior episode, though.

3.75 stars.

While a part of me is sad at how short these are--really only half the length of the novellas in the first series--I'm still enjoying them. It was fun to see Niran battle another necromancer to get what they needed, especially since he's mostly been there to catalog the bones and get ready to make the body. And there were sexy times, which is always welcome! Ah, but the ending! It definitely leads me to wanting to jump into the next one ASAP!

Definitely recommend and definitely continuing on!

Sigh..I love Tan

I absolutely love and adore Tan and his broken brain, (well he won't agree, he would say my brain is broken for not understanding him) Now to wait till end of this month for the next book..
Absolutely love the writing, the character and the world building.
This series has been brilliant from the first book..
Off to go soothe my soul with more of AJ's books..till the book 4 is out.

Magical fights and hot tub delights

A little bit of time for sexy times and some necromancer magic fights! This definitely felt like a much shorter section of this serial, but it remains the same light and fun story that it has always been. Having the adventures with the apprentices along complicates things but it also shows just how they all are growing.....while also staying a bit children themselves. Looking forward to the pirates!

This is another arc to the overall Villainy series. The serial is just as funny and ridiculous as the first story. Tan and Devan have another adventure and Tan's apprentices just add to the overall enjoyment. Not to mention a dragon skull named Steve. What more can you want from a set of serial stories? I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I am so, so happy that we are getting to spend more time with Tan and Devyn...adding in apprentices, Niran, and Steve was just a bonus. This was a particularly enjoyable entry as there was a mix of seriousness due to lingering trauma mixed in with the usual shenanigans that come from being around Tan for more than five minutes. I love the details this author brings to her work, this is especially notable in a short story format. I cannot wait until the next installment releases.

Yo, ho, ho, where’s the rum?

I adore the humor in these episodes and the absurd situations Devan finds himself in (usually because of Tan). The piracy aspect sneaking in starting here should provide all sorts of craziness and action. The worst part about this serial is waiting on the next piece!

Devan & Tan

And the quest continues! Off to Zanyab to find two more of Steve’s bones. The party encounters a swordsman which Devan takes care of quite nicely and a grave robber who loses his head by Niran’s hand. Now there’s a pirate ship, not just any pirate ship but the one Devan really doesn’t want to go up against. Can’t wait!!!

4.5 but I rounded up because this is my happy series! :)

This has everything: angst (love that Devan and Wells talk), action, romance, and comedy. I love their monologues and banter!

I save these books when I need to read a favorite. I really want to read them all back to back but I’m pacing myself, lol.

Definitely continuing on until they find all the boooooooooones!

Liked the book but did not love it. I think the introduction of the second apprentice caught me off guard in a negative way because, at least with the first one, I had some good story behind him. It's still an ok read, but I liked the first part of the series best. Onto my next adventure, Happy Readings!!!!

“Bless the necromancers, for they have no common sense.”

It’s always a fun, albeit bumpy, ride with Devan and Tan on an adventure! We’re now a couple of bones closer to a full Steve skeleton, although pirates seem to be on the horizon! Can’t wait for that installment!

These books are way too short. It just seemed I had started and I'd finished.
The gang are on the way to find Steve's leg and end up in a less than nice city where they are forced to spend the night.
I really like how the gang are together. Now the wait for the next book.

Just when things look easy it turns into more. Devon, Tan and the gang find 2 more bones of Steve and end up sailing going for another. Poor Devan’s mental health lol

Here a bone. There a bone.

Mayhem and mischief continue! Tan is still turned on by Devan’s displays of strength and competence. Devan’s sanity is even more at risk. And the kids…well let’s just say they are well on their way to being black sorcerers. Love it! Worth a good laugh!

Onward and upward

Marching further into madness with Tan, kids, Devan, Niran, and Steve the dragon skull. I really appreciate the adorable bloodthirstiness of the apprentices. And Niran is turning out to be a hoot. Fa is going to skin them alive for leaving her behind, though.

Love this series so much and really enjoyed this episode. I am a little disappointed in how short each episode is but we readers are trapped right where they want us. If you want to continue following these characters you love you just have to keep paying for these glimpses each chapter at a time..
