Rebel leader Corry Reah has a problem. His name is Ashton VinDerley. Though they are sworn enemies, she can't make herself hate him. Compelling and powerful, he fascinates and seduces her, making her long for pleasures she has never known before. He teases and tempts, caresses and challenges until she forgets who is captive and who captor.
Korbin is having no better luck than his sister Corry. He has promised to keep his hands off stunningly beautiful Danette, but she haunts his dreams, summoning a dark, primitive part of his nature that he hasn't indulged in years. How can he resist a captive who wants nothing more than to submit? She offers her body without reservation and he is powerless to resist. She is crucial to the upcoming negotiations, but Korbin is no longer sure he can set her free.
Content Warning: This book contains EROTIC sex scenes: multiple partner, anal, etc. The second half features a Master/slave relationship. If that's not your thing, please check out my Cyndi Friberg books. They are still good and spicy, just less kinky than Aubrey's stories. Thanks!
Award-winning author Aubrey Ross writes an eclectic assortment of erotic fiction. First paragraph: “They look ridiculous.” Corry Reah shook her head as she assessed the three hostages contained within the holding cell. They sat side by side on a metal bench, leaning against each other in a dazed stupor. Two were dressed in formal finery, the third in flannel pajamas.
"Rebel" is the first in the "Enemy Embrace" futuristic erotica series that's heavier on the heat than the world building, but still develops a good story that is interesting to read. The first part tells the tale of two sibling rebels who kidnap a trio of elitists in order to shed light on their cause. The tables are quickly turned on the rebel kidnappers, however. And, in true, "boy-girl, boy-girl" fashion, the sibling rebels pair off with a kidnap victim and participate in the Insta-Lust = Insta-Love equation that many authors deem necessary to move the story along.
I found myself skimming whole passages of this book to get to the action sequences of the story itself, but found myself slightly disappointed by the quick resolution to the story.
I found this book very interesting. It wasn't quite what I was expecting. A story of a dystopian world and with a lot of love. Kidnapping, war, and hostages and rebels falling in love with each other.
Corry and her half brother Korbin are part of a coalition trying to show the rich people how bad things really are. They kidnap the leaders young adult children to make a ransom. Well things don't go as planned as Corry and Korbin seem to fall for two of their prisoners.
I found the book a very easy and fun read. I might continue on with the series just not sure yet.
Recomendable.
With as good as a rating I gave in stars, it is only towards the first half of the book. The book is comprised of two interlocking stories. The first is the story regarding Corry and Ashton VinDearley. Corry and her brother Korbin, have kidnapped three people whose parents are important officials whose decisions effect the well being of other planets inhabitants. The siblings kidnap the people as a desperate attempt to get their attention and bring change the current living conditions of the inhabitants of the other planets that have been utterly ignored. Ashton is clever and cunning and eventually escapes taking Corry with him. The tension between these two is high and off the charts.
The second half of this book concerns Korbin, and the only other female hostage Dannette. Korbin recognizes Dannette from one of his visits to the DBSM playrooms at a brothel on her planet (the only planet seeming to be swimming in their luxury while making all other planets bleed in poverty). Their relation blooms into that of the Dom and the submissive type. While I didn't seem impressed with their story necessarily, I think I might just be burnt out on that type of story line. This maybe more placed on my "Meh" feeling for it.
While the both stories followed through and had a conclusion, I feel I would have liked to read more on the first couple. There are several books following this series. B sadly I do not see Corry and Ashton written in any of their synopsis.
Sexy, quick, erotic-sci-fi read. Corry and Korbin are brother and sister who are part of a rebellion against Halley Prime, protesting the treatment of the people on satellite planets. They kidnap Palmer, Danette and Aston, adult children of high ranking officers on the coalition planet. The story is split into two parts, the first one featuring Corry and Aston and how they are attracted to each other. The second part focuses on Korbin and Danette (poor Palmer doesn't get a story or a girl) who realize they met when Korbin was a Pleasure Master who trained Doms at the Pleasure Palace. Danette trained with her former Dom, who is now dead. As the rebels try to negotiate for better conditions for the other outpost planets, the attraction between each of the couples intensifies, and the rebel plans go awry. I give this book 3.5 stars - it's an interesting story, but more sex than story.
