Numerous errors in formatting, almost seemed like it wasn't proof-read. I love Alydia Rackham, and this book didn't seem up to her usual standard. The story seemed to lose steam in the 3rd quarter and there were some loose ends that were never tied up. Maybe they are addressed in the second book but i still think it's odd that they weren't touched on in the first, because it ended like a stand-alone. I also found that I couldn't relate to the FMC at all. I get that she went through a lot of grief and trauma, but I feel like she took it a little further than makes sense, so it kinda felt like plot fluff. I also just didn't like the FMC, and honestly felt no chemistry between her and the MMC. Was far more invested in the Dane and Dunmor, a relationship which was sadly completely forgotten about after the first part. Hoping they are included in the second book.
As for redeeming qualities, the depictions of various disasters through time is an interesting concept and would have been well executed if not for the fact that the third and final disaster was basically glossed over, which made the overall narrative lose steam. I appreciated the allegorical qualities of the story, but I don't think they really worked completely. It's really difficult to do allegory well. A happy ending is always a win.

Lots of Potential
I downloaded a sample of this book and then decided to read the rest simply because I enjoyed the author's voice in the first pages. Rackham clearly loved her plot and characters, and I enjoy reading stories written by enthusiastic authors.
The plot was very original--it reminded me slightly of Series of Unfortunate Events and The Magic Treehouse books, but it definitely had a flavor of its own. The plot, in my opinion, was the best part of this story. Where the historical descriptions of details such as weapons and clothes might have been lacking, the plot was intriguing and kept my attention. I would give the plot itself a solid four stars.
Another aspect that gave The Beowulf Seeker a professional polish was the wealth of allusions to classic literature. Weaving in Beowulf, Dickens, and the Bible made the story deeper.
My three star rating is due to the quality of the writing. Although far better than some self published works I've seen on Amazon, it was not nearly as polished as it could have been. Rackham has room for improvement in this area ("he smiled strongly" and "she leaned tiredly against the wall" are a few examples that come to mind). I believe that Rackham has the capability to write four star novels--the plot, characters, and style are all there--and with more experience, I believe that she will improve her descriptive skills. As a reader, I would be interested in reading more of her work in the future.
All told, The Beowulf Seeker was an enjoyable read and is one that I would recommend to someone looking for clean dialogue, an exciting plot, and time travel.

Don't let the low number of ratings/readings dissuade you from giving this book a go. This was a wonderful conclusion of a fantastic novel!
The conclusion! It was exciting, dramatic, edge-of-your-seat in parts, and most importantly very satisfying.
A warning: once you begin, the book is hard to put down. I finished the whole book (all 4 parts) in one sitting and stayed up much later than I should have!
I'm always a little bit wary of time-travel stories. All too often these sorts of stories rely on the crutch of characters from the past marvelling or amusingly failing at modern technologies or alternatively characters from the present/future showing off their knowledge of past events instead of proper plot or character development.
I am glad to say that this is most definitely not the case in this story!
The plot is solid and carefully thought out; Oleron's character development, as he goes through the various tragedies history can throw at him, is a focus.
The two POV characters Oleron and Elinor are both well-developed, interesting and believably flawed. On a completely unrelated and rather shallow note, Oleron is also gorgeous, which is not essential in a character, but was certainly appreciated.
This is a great novel - well-written, interesting and (I will admit) almost made me cry at certain points. I have already started reading the sequel!
Give it a read, you definitely won't regret it!!

The Beowulf Seeker by Alydia Rackham – 4 Stars
I thoroughly enjoyed The Beowulf Seeker, which I experienced as an audiobook and as part of The Weaving of Time duology. This novel weaves together elements of the ancient epic Beowulf with pivotal moments throughout history, creating a fascinating blend of mythology and historical fiction that kept me hooked from start to finish.
The story’s unique premise and imaginative world-building stood out, brilliantly balancing action, mystery, and character development. I particularly appreciated how the author connected the legendary themes of heroism and fate with a broader historical context, adding layers of depth and resonance.
The narration on Audible was excellent, adding to the immersive experience with a clear and engaging performance that brought the characters and settings to life.

I loved this book!!!
What a fun, imaginative, and engrossing story! We start and end in 1300's Scotland, but the adventure in between takes us on a historical time-travel adventure! This was a real page turner that i was sorry to have end, but wait, there's a sequel! 😀
