Wardham #6

No Time Like Forever

Rate this book
It started with a kiss...

Mari Beadie needed a boyfriend, and Chase Miller happened to be in the right place at the right time. The kiss that followed wasn't necessary, strictly speaking, but it sure was hot.

Hot enough that when the tables are turned, Chase knows just who to ask to be his pretend girlfriend. Only this time, it's not a one-time deal.

Continuing her sweet and sexy Wardham series this is the story of Chase and Mari. Chase is recovering from a car accident that has all but ended his hockey career. He's moved back home to Wardham for his physical therapy and to evaluate what to do now with his life, spending many hours at a local restaurant where Mari, a friend of his sisters is a waitress. In a pinch he helps her out with an amorous ex-boyfriend and wants her help in return to pretend to be his girlfriend, partly to get his family off his back and to provide him with a social companion for a charity appearance he had committed to as a hockey player. It seems like a great arrangement - friends with some extra benefits, only when real feelings start to intrude will they be willing to admit them to each other?

I loved this story! Wardham really comes alive in these tales and this story is no exception, showcasing families and friends and a small town atmosphere with all its pros and cons. Everybody know everybody, or so it seems, and it's hard to keep secrets. Mari knows that Chase has been depressed about his lack of progress in his therapy and the realities that he probably won't be able to return to professional hockey. He needs a friend, not another person at his pity party and she is willing to provide that for him, having nursed a secret crush on him that she plans to keep well hidden. Mari is sweet and tough at the same time. She says what's on her mind and she makes no bones about keeping her heart at a distance. Chase is equally engaging as a handsome, determined man, struggling emotionally and physically with the end of his hockey career. He likes that Mari treats him normally and not with stars in her eyes. Having her pretend to be his girlfriend gives him a perfect excuse to have her around and as they play their roles, it's soon hard for them to keep their hands to themselves. There is a definite physical attraction between them and I loved how the scenes built up slowly with sexual tension, keeping the reader (and the characters) on edge as they explored their attraction to each other. But beyond the sexual relationship, the development of the romantic feelings between them is sweet and wonderful.

This story stands well on its own, giving glimpses of the other characters who have made Wardham home. They add humor and tension to the situations the couple encounter and make for a well rounded story. This was an entertaining read, full of warmth, steamy love scenes and a couple deserving of a happy ending. 5 fabulous stars!

"No Time Like Forever" was graciously provided by ZoYo press Via Netgalley for an honest review, and I was so happy to get an advanced copy!
I have been chomping at the bit to read this since I read the initial teaser for this book! I can not lie I love this series, each book is like coming home to visit family and this book was no different! Though thi can be read as a stand alone , I recommend reading the series since the supporting characters are developed in prior books, which is why it s like coming home, Ms York includes previous Character's and keeps you updated on what is going on in there lives.

This story is centered around Chase Miller and Mari Beadie and a relationship between them is a little challenged, Chase is older and moving on to the next phase of his life a former NHL player , layed low by a career ending car accident, he has come home to Wardham to re-hab, though physically he is doing much better he will never play professionally again but a 33 what do you do with your life, he spends the better course of a year , doing physical re- hab, meeting with a Psycholigist t deal with his depression and occupying a stool at the local bar"Danny's" .

Mari, has spent every afternoon for the most part of the last year , dealing wih Mr Grumpy pants , who comes in sits down on a bar stool orders lunch and a beer or two and then pulls out his dam phone and talks to his girlfreind, which she finally set a rule, calls outside. Chase surprised her though and he does takes his calls outside of course on the one day she wishes he hadn't her x boyfreind has to come in the bar t try and weasel his way back in with Mari.
Tryin to think fast on her feet she tells the x, she can not get back with him she has a new boyfreind, tall curly hair built sports guy , bt the x is not buying until Chase walks in claiming to be him! Wrapping his arms around Mari and holding her tightly then going in for the kiss , just to provide a little more proof. And as swiftly as that everything changes, because all Mari could think about to herself that kissing was like riding a bike. And holy crap. Could chase ride a bike!

The chemistry is instantaneous but these two both have baggage. Chase what t do now with his life and Mari well she is only 24 and she has dreams, she wants t be a singer and song writer, they are freinds nothing more, but Chase finds a new lightness to his mood and his life with Mari and she came in as a handy excuse too.
Soo fake boyfreind and girlfreind leads to trips, fake dates and expanding relationship boundaries , lots and lots of sexual tension!

I Have run on long enough, I am not giving away anymore, Wardham fans don't miss out this book will pull you in like all the others, and if you have not read this series. What are you waiting for; Zoe york sucks you in to the lives of the people of Wardham Putting the book down is a challenge!

Zoe York has done it again. Love Mari Beadie, she's a strong character who knows what she wants. Now Chase Miller love him too. He has issues after being in the NHL for so long. Well let's just say he's a bit lost, but that's until Mari stirs something in him, and helps him in a way no one ever could..
They constantly see each other when he comes into Danny's which is where Mari works and is the only bar in Wardham.
Mari dubes Chase as Mr. Grumpy pants..one day Mari's ex comes in and won't leave her alone. That's when Chase comes to her aid, and when he kisses her wow, he so knocked her off kilter. They both are surprised at the feeling of it. So later he needs her help. When things get heated between them it's not sure where it's headed. Well in order to find out you'll just have to order the book.

Take the journey with Chase and Mari. See that "It's No Time Like Forever" to let go of the past and move forward...

So pick this book up. I highly recommend it.

one book from Zoe York and I was hooked. Read all the books in Wardham. You feel like part of the town.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley. This may be my favorite book in the series. I like Chase more in this book than the previous glimpses. After his accident he moves back to Wardham for physical therapy as well as to determine what's next for him after his hockey career is over. Mari is an aspiring musician working as a waitress. When an unwanted ex shows up at work Chase steps up with a kiss that starts some major sparks. This book is a good addition to this series. I don't want to leave any spoilers so I will just say Read It! You will not be disappointed.

I was lucky enough to receive an advanced reading copy of No Time Like Forever, and I am thrilled to report that this book is fantastic. This book captured my attention from the very start and at no time, did I wish for this book to pick up the pace and finish. Quite the opposite, I didn't want this story to ever end. No Time Like Forever had a great buildup, strong storyline, and sweet characters. I fell in love with the characters right from the start, in fact, I've determined that Chase is my new book boyfriend and I'm not sharing him! Zoe York always produces a well written, engaging story, that leaves the readers with a smile on their face. I encourage everyone to read this story when it releases, you won't be disappointed. Trust me, you will be thanking me for the recommendation!

I was lucky to receive an Advance Readers Copy of this book. I LOVE this book and anticipate rereading it! Chase and Mari are one of my favorite couples in this series. As always, Zoe's writing is engaging, easy to relate too, romantic (without being sappy) and sexy. Highly recommend this book and the rest of the Wardham series. I love how most of the characters show up in series so not only do you get a glimpse of characters to come but you get an update on past characters - one of my favorite parts of series. Way to go Zoe! Looking forward to the next one already!!

ARC Provided by publisher in exchange for an honest review.

When I got this ARC, I was not aware that this was a series. However, while this is a series, I didn't feel like I missed anything from the other books because this felt like a very well written stand alone in the series.

Meri Beadie is an aspiring musician that works in a bar in the town she grew up in. Meri has had what sounds like a few rotten boyfriends one of whom makes an appearance in the beginning of the book. Thankfully, Chase Miller is there to save her and offer up a lovely kiss to ward off the loser.

Chase Miller played for the NHL until he had a car accident. While I don't know exactly what happened in that accident and may have been something I missed in another book, it was referenced and we know he is healing from it, mentally and physically. We know he's seeing a therapist because the accident essentially stopped his career.

I like that their romance, while starting on a false pretense, unfolds slowly and at a normal pace. The one thing I didn't really get or get a sense of was Meri's hesitancy toward a relationship with Chase when he clearly liked her. There was mention in the end of her father abandoning her family when she was younger and maybe that's where it came from but I wasn't 100% sure.

All in all this was a quick, easy read. Low on drama, high on romance and love. This is the first book I've read by this author but I liked it and will probably read more from her.

I love this series , in this book we meet Mari and chase,

Mari is a girl on her own , she moved out of her house as soon as she had three months rent and never looked back, working for everything she had and working hard on her misic career while dating all the wrong guys.

Chase is a retired NHL player that had a car accident . He found out his girlfriend kelt was cheating on him and moved home to rebuild his life and do therapy. Being near Mari never seem to bother him till he helps her put with an ex and for the firsst time in a year feeling something for a girl and is exciteded about it. Trying to move on but not sure about the girlfriend price he ask Mari to pay the favor back and be his fake girlfriend to get his family off his back.

With the passion these two feel for one and other and the fires that ignite how long can they deny their feelings, can they let themsleve have happy ness or suffer in silence.?

No Time Like Forever really hit the spot. I seek out blurbs that will satisfy a particular reading mood, and this one turned out to be a better fit than I could have imagined.

The author does a phenomenal job of creating chemistry between the two main characters, Chase and Mari. Although the former is initially referred to as Mr. Grumpy Pants, I was pleasantly surprised by the maturity and the depth of emotional growth that Chase demonstrates throughout the novel. Furthermore, I like that the author doesn't saddle him with that cliché professional-athlete stereotype--you know, the one in which the individual in question is a promiscuous womanizer who can't, or won't, commit. Chase is a self-professed "one-woman guy," and I like this fact about him.

And while Chase is a one-woman guy, he's not an any-woman guy (an important distinction, I think). Although it takes him a while to come around, he recognizes a woman of substance in Mari, and I like his dedication to winning her over--whatever that takes.

Now, usually, the hero does something to tick me off during the narrative, at least once. When it comes to Chase, however, I don't think I ever got mad at him. Perhaps, because this novel is written in third person and gives me glimpses into both characters' minds, I knew he always had her best interests at heart.

The restraint he practices, time and time again, is unparalleled!

I should probably say some good things about Mari too, right? I genuinely liked her as well (although for me it was Chase who made this novel exceptional); Mari is strong, brave, and ambitious.

What I loved most about the novel is the dialogue between characters, their banter, and the manner in which these exchanges are described. They're masterfully done, both honest and real, enabling me to picture the exchanges as if I were actually present to witness them firsthand.

This experience reading No Time Like Forever has persuaded me to pick up Zoe York's other works! I highly recommend this one to fans of the new adult and romance genres.

got an ARC copy from Zoe and again what a great read. U briefly meet Chase in the previous book as a brooding ex NHL-er with an attitude. then there is Mari who is determined 2 make it on her own. needless to say, explosive chemistry btn the 2 considering how their "cute-meet" came 2 be. I like how Zoe engrossed the reader with chase n Mari and their snarky banter towards one another. can't wait 4 the next book

I liked this one, but thought it fell apart at about 80%. By this time I was pretty invested, so completed the book. What would have been 3.5 Stars at 50%, ended at 2 Stars by the end. It just lost its' flow. To top it off, it had very little hockey in it. Disappointed.

Not sure what else to say ...

Happy Reading!

Chase and Mari are a sweet couple that go through a slow build. They have some trust issues and once things pick up, you can't help but fall in love right along with them. The love scenes are hot but don't go too far. The conflict isn't too deep. I consider it a pretty light read. If you're just looking to lounge about with a fun read, this is the book for you.

Another Wardham story, another trope I'm not a big fan of...

Seldom does the fake-relationship story work for me. There's too much internal weeping and knashing of teeth about how the other person will never feel as much as they do. And this time the reason for the fake relationship was basically because the hero wouldn't put on his big boy boxers and just tell his family to mind their own business.

I wanted to like this series. I really did. But I adore Zoe York's newer books SO MUCH more than this series...

I loved Mari and Chase so much. He was perfectly damaged and she had enough drive and whimsy to keep things interesting. I really enjoy stories about partners of convenience and this one fit the bill. I wish we had more information about his family and about her music, but I loved everything about this story.

ARC provided by ZoYo Press via Netgalley for an honest review!

First, I have to apologize for my tardy review. I read this novel over a month ago and as per my usual life, my review never made it online. Until now.

You cannot go wrong with a Zoe York book! I absolutely LOVE her Wardham series. I finished this book in one sitting, probably couldn't have put it down if I wanted to. I definitely recommend reading not only the book, but the series as well!
This is the story of Chase and Mari. Chase has returned home after a car accident forced his retirement from the NHL. He was struggling with depression after not being able to play the game he loves so he turns to alcohol to drown his sorrows at the only bar in town, where Mari works as a bartender. She asks him for a favor (read the book for details) and he asks for one in return (again, you gotta read the book lol) .... cue relationship :)
Zoe York does an exceptional job of character development, especially with Chase. She has such a way with words, that I felt like I was living his transformation from boo-hoo me to 'light bulb moment' .... Mari is everything he needs and goes after her with the same drive he went after the NHL!
This was story was full of warmth, steamy love scenes and a couple deserving of a happy ending.
FIVE 'GO BIG OR GO HOME' Stars for this heart-warming, exceptional story!

I can't wait to read what is next for Wardham!

Fantastic book!! Chase Miller is back in Wardham rehabilitating after a horrific car accident ended his NHL career. Mari Beadie is a young aspiring musician and songwriter trying to build her career. Neither is in a good place to start a relationship but neither can they deny the chemistry between them. You will want to read this wonderfully written book to get their story. The Wardham cast of characters are amazing and you feel like you're visiting old friends. I highly recommend this book and the entire series. A definite must read.

***ARC provided for an honest review of the book.***
This is the sixth installment in the Wardham series (4 novels and 2 novellas), and it's every bit as wonderful as the rest of the series. Chase has returned to his hometown after a car accident forced his retirement from the NHL. Readers have met Chase previously in the Wardham series, and he was struggling with depression after not being able to play the game he loves. He spends much of his free time at the only bar in town, where Mari works as a bartender. He pretends to be her boyfriend to get an ex-boyfriend off her back. Later, he asks her to return the favor when he uses a new girlfriend as an excuse to move out of his parents house without hurting his mom's feelings. Ms. York writes so vividly that the reader can feel the chemistry between them. That heat eventually turns pretending into the real thing. The best part of the book for me was watching Chase deal with his depression, realize that Mari was his new happiness, and pursue her with the same determination that landed him in the NHL. Ms. York's writing expertly develops Chase's character as readers see him deal with the loss of fame and a career that was his entire life and eventually look forward to his future with Mari. Chase really made this book for me, as Mari was my least favorite heroine of the Wardham series so far. She is described as "prickly," and I wished that readers got more of an explanation as to why she was so afraid to get involved with Chase and put up so many barriers with him. My only other wish for the story is that readers were privy to the content of the media blitz that Chase goes on toward the end of the book. I wanted to hear in his words what the relationship meant to him. As usual, I thoroughly enjoyed visiting Wardham again and getting glimpses of characters from previous books. Ms. York's flawless writing really makes readers feel that they are visiting this small town and reconnecting with its residents. I continue to highly recommend the Wardham series and am anxiously awaiting Beneath These Bright Stars.

I loved this book. I thought it was a well written story, emotional, sensual and an overall satisfying read.

Meri Beadie is an bartender and aspiring singer/songwriter. She lives and works in the same town in England that she grew up in, but she is driven and is working hard toward her dreams. She has a history of bad boyfriends, and we get to meet her most recent one when his comes into the bar where she works and bothers her. Enter Chase Miller. He comes in time just to save the day with a hot kiss that neither of them are able to forget.

Chase Miller is a former NHL hockey player who was injured in a car accident. He is in the rehabilitation process - both physically and mentally. He asks Meri to be his pretend girlfriend. While this relationship starts off under false circumstances their romance slowly blossoms into something much more. I thought this was such a sweet romance! It was low on the angst, and I found that refreshing.

When I first received this book I did not realize that it was actually part of a whole series. However, I don't feel like I missed anything major. It can 100% be read as a standalone. I loved it so much that I'm going to have to read the rest of the series now!!

I received this ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This is book 4 in the Wardham series. Each book is a standalone.

The gist: Mari is a bartender and an aspiring songwriter. Chase is a hockey player whose career is over after a horrible car accident. Chase has moved back home to lick his wounds and recover from his injuries. He’s become a regular at the local pub where Mari tends bar. The two grow closer over the course of a year before starting a fake relationship that blooms into a deep love.

This one was short and fast-paced, such is the nature of novellas. I wish it had been longer so the story could have been a bit more developed and their histories laid out better. I wanted to know more about Chase’s accident. What happened and why? A nasty, false story is leaked about them and Chase has to squash it. I wanted more about the source of the story; was it his ex-girlfriend or her ex-boyfriend? Their relationship was awfully fast-paced, too. (Once they finally got together anyway…) Mari had all these walls up (WHY?) and then suddenly she’s open to a full-on relationship overnight. It just made it a bit unbelievable.

I liked both Mari and Chase and I was fully supportive of them as a couple, but I just wanted MORE. I enjoyed the story and will continue to read more from this author.

Chase is laying low after a career ending car accident, so he has come home to recuperate and decide what to do with the rest of his life. All he has ever known is hockey and now that he will never play professionally again he is struggling emotionally. Even though he is doing physical therapy on his leg and talking to a therapist that is helping him deal with his depression – he spends most his days sitting on a bar-stool at the local bar where Mari works . All he does is sit, drink beer, and take phone calls from his girlfriend – which Mari makes him take outside.

Mari has to spend day-after-day dealing with Chase at the bar where she bartends and she has given him the name of Mr. Grumpy Pants. Mari is dealing with a jerk of an ex-boyfriend, but he keeps pushing to get back together with her, until finally one day she blurts out that she is seeing someone and Chase just happens to come to her rescue AND kisses her. She knows that she shouldn’t feel anything when it comes to the kiss, and knows that Chase was just doing it to help her out, BUT she can’t get the kiss off of her mind.

Zoe York had done it again and this may be my favorite book in the series and I encourage everyone to read this story.

No time like forever
is a new book in the series by Zoe York that showcases the town of Wardham and its residents.

This one tells the story of Chase and Mari. Chase, an NHL player comes
home to recuperate after a career ending injury. Mari is the girl who
stayed in her hometown and is developing her new career. They intersect in imaginative ways and their relationship moves forward at good pace. I really enjoyed how Mari's character was developed as a strong woman, had her life planned and knew what she wanted. I like that Chase did not feel sorry for himself and that he knew had options other than the NHL. What also stood
out for me was the father / son relationship and how his father sees
him versus what he perceived..... I like that Zoe York always brings back characters from previous books so that you don't loose touch with them and they always bring something new to the story. And Audrey!!! I hope we get to read Audrey's story someday. She will be a force to be reckoned with!!

The dialogue is snappy and some of the lines will stay with you, my
personal favorite: having sex with him could be considered a public
service. Enjoy your return to Wardham

No Time Like Forever is a knock-off-your-socks romantic read. It also an intricate story about love, of course but of dreams too; some ending and some just getting started. It is that contrast in the lives of Chase and Mari that I found compelling as I read this novel. Certainly, Zoe York has written a story with a deep, rich plot and well-developed Irresistible characters.

I loved Chase and Mari together so I didn’t even mind his implausible suggestion of fake boyfriend/girlfriend. By the time Chase suggest such a thing, I’m all on board since Zoe York has already convinced me they would be perfect together. However, their struggles together and apart rang with authenticity and honesty. On one hand, I wanted to know how it would work out for Chase and Mari but on the other, I didn’t want it to end.

Without a doubt, I find the book to be fantastic, making No Time Like Forever a wonderful addition to the Wardham series.

This book is my favorite of the Wardham series so far. I really liked both of these characters separately and and together (especially Chase :).

I liked that they "got" each other and there was not too much drama. What Chase was going through ending his career and Mari just starting her made it more real. They were a very sweet couple as was some of their dialog. Chase was able to vulnerable and Mari was able to be prickly and they still were able to have their HEA. I also liked that Mari was not over the top or too indecisive as some females leads can be.

I will definitely finish the series. I am curious to see how things play with Evan based on hints from other books in this series.

I've read quite a few of the Wardham series, and this is one of my least favorites. It seemed like there wasn't quite enough story to fill a whole book. Chase and Mari were both very much anti-relationship, but it didn't make a whole lot of sense. They both liked each other and neither was dating anyone else...their reluctance seemed too contrived.

Chase was a more likable character than Mari, he was pretty honest and tried to be open with her, but she was always so prickly. She'd run hot and cold at the weirdest times. To Mari's credit though, her reaction to the big crisis at the end wasn't what I expected, she was much more mature about it than I thought she would be.

I did like being back in Wardham again and seeing some of the supporting characters again.

Received for a honest review from NetGalley. Ms. York does it again with the easy, sexy stories from the town of Wardham. This time it is Chase's turn. This one time hockey star is lost and depressed, not knowing what to do after a career ending car accident. His only bright side of his day for the pat 6 months is seeing the local bartender at Daniel's. Mari is not one to believe in HEA, that is until she meets the ever hot ex-hockey player.
As always I enjoy Zoe York's writing style. I always know what will happen but enjoy seeing how we geat there, not to mention all the hot men in this small Canadian town.

Oh Chase! What a dreamy man he is! I love, love, love this series. It's such a nice break to read a nice, hot romantic story. I always wanna read start to finish super fast and then I'm disappointed with myself because the story is over. This may have been my favorite story so far. I love how before the relationship even
started they had a "fake" kiss that was so hot and powerful it lead to a "fake" relationship that couldn't remain fake for long. They were a match made in heaven. Can't wait to hear about them in another book.
