College boy Kevin Banovic’s casual affair with Savi DaCosta suited him perfectly. Things change when he finds out that Savi is his mom’s high school bestie. When Kevin tries to end their affair, Savi blackmails him. After Kevin rescues Savi’s stepdaughter, L’Wren, from her abusive boyfriend, he can’t stop thinking about her. He must find a way to handle Savi, protect L’Wren, and keep his sanity.
Bad girl Adriana Banovic is pleased with herself for getting her nemesis expelled from Westwood Academy. As feelings between her and her latest victim Haze Lyndon escalate, an unexpected rival discovers her secret and threatens to expose her. With emotions on the line, will her new rival beat her at her own game or end up another casualty of Adriana’s wrath?
Zax Banovic has it all. Tall and handsome, he’s an academic genius, with a killer smile and a heart of gold. When his best friend gets into trouble, he feels responsible and covers for him. But his best friend is not as honorable and has other plans for Zax.
The Banovic Siblings learn that blackmail is a gift that keeps on giving. This is the second book in the Family Portrait novel series.
If you like shows like the original Melrose Place, Beverly Hills 90210 and Nashville, where the guys and girls are hot and the schemes are hotter, you will like The Banovic Siblings.
Gillian Felix has been writing since she was old enough to hold a pencil. She enjoys creating characters that could be your next-door neighbor, but would you want them as your neighbor is another story.
Originally from the island republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Miss Felix moved to the United States in 1998. Since then she has been involved in the entertainment industry for over ten years. Her experience ranges from script supervisor to production manager on many independent features. She is trained in the Meisner and Stanislavski technique of acting, which she credits as an asset to her character development and writing.
Miss Felix is also an entrepreneur and advocate for children's and women's rights.
I don't usually read that genre but I enjoyed reading this book. I liked the variety of characters, their stories and uniqueness. And the endless drama! I'm sad that the book ends on a cliffhanger but it'll make picking up the book 3 much more exciting!
Thanks to Gillian Felix for sending me a ecopy of her book.
Life in the world of The Banovic Siblings by Gillian Felix is one huge, entwined, entangled and totally engrossing tale! Wealthy, beautiful, talented and living lives filled with more chaos and conniving than the best soap operas have to offer, each of the siblings live dual lives, the ones their parents see and the ones that skate the edges of the proverbial cliff. Kevin has gotten entangled by a beautiful cougar who just happens to turn out to be his mother’s high school best friend and she i out to blackmail him into keeping quiet. Zax takes a fall for his best friend, who returns the favor with back stabbing and girl grabbing. Adriana, who can turn on the girlish charm at the drop of a hat can often be her own worst, most vicious enemy.
Each of them hold a secret dream, each wants a relationship with someone special, but will their own deceits block any chance for happiness? Must they continue to play the roles they have created for themselves? How far will they go to protect or avenge someone they care about?
Author Gillian Felix has created prime time-worthy reading here, so set up your mental wide screen and sit back and take a deep breath, because once you start page one, you will be going at warp speed as these teens navigate the webs they have woven. Great characters, flawed, too mature for their own good and most definitely entertaining, you will love them one page and while on the next, you’ll be ready shake some sense into them. All the while, you have to marvel at how they have managed to survive in the dog-eat-dog world they live in!
Lucky me, I received a review copy from the author as part of the Banovic Siblings Book Tour coming to Tome Tender January 14th!
Series: Family Portrait, Book 2 Publication Date: December 15, 2013 Publisher: @GillianFx Publishing LLC Genre: New Adult Fiction Number of Pages: 166 Available from: Amazon | Barnes & Noble
Why, oh, why did this book have to end? Seriously, I was reading, reading, reading, and the inevitable "The End" comes. I literally was like "OMG, Gillian, you are torturing me!" 2013 has been jammed to the brim with books for me and I have to say that the Family Portrait series is by far, one of the best series I have ever read in my life!
Keeping up with the soap opera like plots, Felix brings you closer to the characters you meet in book one, Changes, and makes you wanna deck a few in the process! I don't know how she does it but within these short novels, Gillian Felix is able to bring about character progression, backgrounds, family ties, drama, emotional hormones of some crazy ass teenagers (and a few adults) and more! I honestly do not know who is my favorite character anymore! I think Kevin Banovic or Adriana still...gosh, I just don't know if I can pick just one!
Adriana is still as wild as ever! Totally crushing on hot babe, Haze, Adriana has some skeletons in her closet and gets manipulated by someone you wouldn't think would have it in her! Kevin...LOVE him! I love his character! He's honorable in most things, gets into some sticky situations, which by the way, I am so looking forward to how he deals with monster mom, Savi.
Savi....hmmm...Let me sum this up in a few short sentences. She is a selfish, conniving, insatiable, scum of the Earth woman, who doesn't deserve the beautiful daughters she has and takes full advantage of! She things only of herself and is crazy as hell to boot. I thought at one point in the book, her act may change...but oh no...no no no.
I loved this book, I am now wanting to read book one and two again just to feel close to the characters again...sooooo good!
Throughout the whole time of leaning the lives of each character, you always see these webs being weaved on how they are connected and a bigger story is brewing in the background! I still wanna know what happened with the PI hired in book one to find Robin Banovic's brother, Adrian! Seriously...with this much drama, emotions, family love and hate...I cannot wait to see how this series will end (though I don't want it to EVER end)! If the individual books in the beginning of the series pack this much of a punch...just think how it'll end!
You guys need, and I stress it, neeeed to get your hands on a copy of both Changes and The Banovic Siblings and start reading. They are shorter books, (I read mine in a couple hours...and I am a slow reader) so you cannot go wrong! You will LOVE them and will be left crying out for more, like me!
This book picks up where the first left off except it gets more deceptively delicious in terms of soap opera drama. We have Kevin with Leighann's mom Savi, who is Adriana's mother's friend from college. Say what?!? But wait Kevin tries to be honourable but nooo..the blackmail ensues. What a tangled web we weave..except his web isn't as bad as poor Adriana's.
Adriana has been her beeyitchy self. So wonderful to see but still sweet to Haze and her family. Her and Haze are getting closer but she was a seriously tangled web and her lies may catch up to her. Especially since there is another girl who wants Haze and she is catty enough to take him. Meanwhile she is the least of Adriana's problem. Wouldn't think that would be a saying here but it is because this feisty one is being blackmailed already and from a good girl too. But that happens when one falls for a Banovic boy. This blackmail is so someone can get close to Zax.
Zax is the sweetest thing ever. So loyal to his friends and kindhearted. Too bad that costs him the one thing he desires the most. The tennis star. What a terrible thing for a friend to do and yet Zax still stays kind and loyal to his friend. What more can you want in a guy? Maybe to like you the way you like him. Not sure if that will happen for his secret crush but I know Zax will treat her with kindness.
Meanwhile the dad is having problems with his Dad's worker's and businessmen getting to accept him, learning the business and worrying about his missing brother. All the while trying to stay close to his family while traveling back and forth from work to home.
Where this will go next is anyone's clue especially since it looks like Kevin has fallen for Savi's older daughter and is showing his dark side. Zax is hurt and trying to be the good guy and Adriana is just being Adriana. A fast fun read that will give you a soap opera feel and leave you wondering what will happen next.
Well what can I say, the art is in the telling of a good story and boy can Gillian Felix tell a story! This book is not just about two main characters far from it, it's two family's the Banovics' and the Decostas' and their friends too.. Every person in the book has a story to be told even the secondary characters have a good solid back story as the character build-up are so defined, descriptive it just flows beautifully, you get to know these people personally and an insight into the type of lives they lead. I'm reading this as a stand alone book and it was really easy to follow with the character dynamics and dialogue, It had plenty of drama-plots twist- deception -blackmailing-set ups-bust ups-drug dealer-family loyalty. Even a Miss Robinson (Savi) where you love her for turning up to save her daughter when she did but she is out for her own gain..
I had a few laugh out loud moments and one huge CLIFFHANGER! Gezz I'm on the edge to find out what happens next! We need more! This could definitely be on the big screen...
Favourite character: has to be Kevin with out a doubt, caught by the devil and the deep blue sea, I hope he teaches Jeff a lesson or two.
Adrianna: she's just a minx! sweet and innocent on the outside but just don't cross her! really a chameleon in disguise.
Zax: is just a Sweetheart - Oblivious to what's going on around him with Leighanna.
I absolutely loved this story written at a very high standard very talented one not to be over looked. Highly recommend 5 mind blowing stars My play list for this book would be The Killers - Direct Hits 2013.
*** I recieved a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you! ***
Wow, well if you want a little bit of everything then it's a perfect read. Siblings, that means you will know many different characters.
The blurb speaks for itself:
Kevin Banovic’s casual affair with Savi DaCosta suited him perfectly. When Kevin tries to end their affair, Savi blackmails him. After Kevin rescues Savi’s stepdaughter, L’Wren, from her abusive boyfriend, he can’t stop thinking about her....
Adriana Banovic is pleased with herself for getting her nemesis expelled from Westwood Academy. As feelings between her and her latest victim Haze Lyndon escalate, an unexpected rival discovers her secret and threatens to expose her....
Zax Banovic has it all. Tall and handsome, he’s an academic genius, with a killer smile and a heart of gold. When his best friend gets into trouble, he feels responsible and covers for him....
It was funny and refreshing, the best soap opera you have ever read! All the characters are great, they have a lot things to show (or different sides) I loved the emotional roller-coaster. It's funny and loveable at the same time. Every characters have a different story to reveal, but somehow they both connected.
My personal favourite is Zax of course :) He is so kind with a big heart, and loyal to his friends.
Yeah, the end :)) a big cliffhanger as a scanned through the reviews I realised there is no missing pages in my copy...that's it!
I enjoyed this more than book 1 minus the flair of drama involve. There's just too much drama.
As the saying goes, this book focus more on the Banovic Siblings and their problems, (*coughs) make that their love life.
It's so cute to see Adriana and Haze's relationship. I wish that she would tell Haze the truth so it would lessen their problems. I really like them together. I'm glad that Adriana has a strong character she would need it especially fighting of Carys. Another character I hate. It was worst because she was related to .
I'm mad at Zax. I wished he would get over his crush to Kristin and picked Leighann instead. I don't think Kristin deserves especially if she used Frankie to get to him. What I like about Zax despite Frankie being an a**, he's a true and loyal friend. Frankie does not deserve his friendship even if the reason he acted that way was due to familial problems. That's no excuse.
Kevin. You are such in trouble. Your life is more complicated than all your siblings. Of all the people you have to bang it had to be her mother. And now, you're developing feelings for L'wren and the choice you made regarding her problem. I don't know if I want to give you hug or smack you.
I want to know more about the mysterious brother, Adrian. Till the end of the book, nothing much about him was said.
This book is more complicated than the last one but despite that I couldn't help but reading it. I really hope that the people I'm rooting for get their HEA.

The Banovic Siblings is about the different lives of the Banovics'. How they were different to each other despite the connection.
This book has a lot of characters and each character has a story to tell. Even though they live different lives, they are somehow interconnected. Some are aware of it and some are not. I like the story alot, but even though this book can be read as a stand alone, I still think that I should have read the first one to have a better feel of the characters. My favorite character is Kevin. I would really like to know more about him. He was the bad boy but with a soft side.
The thing that I dont like in this book was the ending. I was reading and getting excited and suddenly, "the end". I was like, "wait, what?!" then I go back from the previous page then back again and still, "what?!". I was considering writing a message for Gillian asking if that is the real ending or my copy has missing pages. But I chose to read other reviews and it answered my questions. It was really the ending. Sooooo, why? Why do you have to end it like that?
Anyway, the book was an easy read. Like watching a telenovela and actually enjoying it. I would read the first one and definitely will wait for the next one.
I was recently asked to review the first volume in Family Portraits: Changes. You can see my review of this book here. Ms. Felix then asked if I would like to review the second volume in the Family Portraits novels: The Banovic Siblings.
I really enjoyed the first volume of this series by Ms Felix, and was happy to read the second. I really wanted to find out what happened with these characters, and learn more about them. Each character is so different from the others, and they each have their own little story throughout the book. I was happy to start figuring out how each character and story was connected to the other. A few other characters were introduced in this volume, with small roles, but I was still intrigued by what they added to the story. In a way, it reminds me of the show 90210 with all the different characters and love triangles that seem to be forming. I was hooked on that show, and I can only imagine how this series will play out! If you're looking for a fun, quick read, then I suggest checking out this series!
I really enjoyed reading this book, and I like how the character's intermingled with one another. Once again, Felix brought these characters together, in a crazy Hollywood Paparazzi High School scenario that is much loved by today's general public. I loved how the characters were amazed by who was related to who, and how lovers and cheaters and friends show up in the craziest of places, without them knowing what to do next. This book had suspense, blackmail, and attempted rape - and I was hooked and couldn't put it down.
Again, Felix's writing could have had a little more imagery and use of details to pull the reader in to how the character's felt on the inside, rather than just the outer layer of plot and general feelings in terms of the scenarios that the characters found themselves in. I did enjoy reading it however, and I was on the edge of my seat in terms of what would happen next with the characters that I fell in love with. I would recommend this book to others. Happy Reading!
This is a good book definitely geared more towards young adults. When reading this book it reminded me a lot of the show Gossip Girl that ran on the CW network. There is a lot of drama but ends before it all gets completed. This also reminds me that you never knew how long one drama cycle would last from one episode to another. Over all the writing it good, there is a real plot here that you don't find in many books but I don't like it when you have a book that has as many characters as this has and no one has a resolution by the end of the book. I did not read the first book and was given this one by the author for an honest review. So honestly I think the book is good but it should have something that keeps readers coming back for more but also gives you a sense that when reading this book you got some conclusion to something. Overall I would recommend this book but it should be for young adults and with a bit of caution due to the drug use in this book.
I loved this one! This was my favourite. This is when the Banovic and the DeCosta children start to come into their own. They are not innocent like other NA book characters. These children are involved in a lot of dodgy connections. I can't even start to pinpoint what I liked the most! Kevin and his sordid relationship with the malicious DeCosta mother Savi. Or Adrianna's relationship with the oh so beautiful model Haze who is 21 and doesn't know that Adrianna is 15! (A secret she is willing to do anything to prevent him from finding out!) Or even the ever so sweet LeighAnn's one sided love of Adrianna's brother Zax. Argh there was just so much to LOVE! All I know is that I devoured this novel in an hour. When Kevin realised that he had feelings for Savi's step-daughter L'Wren I thought I was going to burst. Especially as L'Wren had a horrible girl-friend beating boyfriend. Let's just say the ending was amazing and left me reaching for book 3.
I received a free copy of this book for an honest review.
The Banovic Siblings is the second in the Family Portrait series and continues where Changes, the first book in the series, left off. This book, like the first one, is just like a soap opera. If you like drama, you’ll like The Banovic Siblings.
Gillian Felix’s writing is easy to read and the story flows well. The characters are more developed than they were in Changes and I felt like I knew them as I was reading.
The one thing that drove me crazy about Changes was how it stopped abruptly and I had to wait for the second book to come out. This one does the same thing! I was reading along and it just stopped! Now I have to wait again!
Received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review. So, here it goes.
The Banovic Siblings has a lot of things going for it. Teenage romances, lots of them, petty vengeances, manipulative women, hot guys and girls. The book is clearly the second in a series. But I did not have a problem following it though i did not read the first one in the series. What this book lacks is a clear story or I should rather say enough story. This is about the love lives of the Banovic siblings obviously, and the story telling was a breeze to go through but I felt like it was an episode in a series rather than a novel. I would have been satisfied if at least one of the siblings' story had closure.
I really enjoyed reading the Banovic Siblings which is actually book two in the series. While I did read two first it isn't necessarily that important to read one before two. Gillian Felix has created solid characters that are all important to the storyline. Teenage angst, wealthy teenagers running amok throughout the book while concealing bad behavior from parents. Young love, feelings of superiority over others and generalized bad behaviors creates a very intriguing story that captivated me to the end. Leaving the end of the book with unanswered questions just makes you want to continue the saga in the next sequel. I look forward to continuing with this series. Also while this is written for young adults the writing piqued my own interests as well.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
The Banovic Siblings is the second book in the series and picks up where the first book, Changes, ended. The story is very easy to read. The Characters are well developed and ride one crazy roller coaster from beginning to end. The characters are all wealthy kids living one life for their parents to see and another that their friends see. There is a lot of crazy drama and back stabbing added into the mix. This series is night time t.v. drama worthy!
I would suggest reading the first book so that you are able to follow the characters and plot better. I had to stop and read the first book in order to understand and appreciate the second book.
★★Recieved story in exchange for a honest review★★
This was different from other stories I've read but I enjoyed it. I think I need to go back and read book one so I can better understand it as far as characters go, but it is definitely soap opera material, lol. I think it had the right amount of drama and scandals. I do wish it was a bit longer of a story, I think more could have fit in with all the different stories going on. At the beginning I wondered where the plot was, but it definitely has a few... did I mention what a CLIFFHANGER! ★GREAT READ!★
I received ARC for my honest review i have to say that it was drama on pages. I felt like i was watching a soap opera going on but i really enjoyed that it picked up were book one left off.
I have to point out I had never read anything from this author before, so I did not know anything about her writting technique or anything like that. Now I know that there is a first book in this series and I am left to wonder if maybe I had read them in the correct order, as this is book # 2 things would have go a bit differently for me.
The story begins with the introduction of a lot of different characters, all important, all part of the main story and all presented to you very quickly into the storyline. We get certain information about them, like hair color, eye color, the basics, but I somehow felt they need to be detailed more. I usually love a book when the author makes me think that the person she or he is describing is part of my world, like I really know that person, and this characters didn't just do that for me. I got that Adriana is a bitch at school and wraps her parents around her middle finger at home, and that Haze is from Wisconsin, living the big city dream, but nothing more than that. They just didn't come ALIVE to me as I read and I hate when that happens.....
The way the story is written is different too. It is written like in really short scenes and jumps from one character to the other on the turn of the page. I honestly felt like I was watching my kids high school theater act and had to wait for the curtain to close and change scenery on the back for the next part to begin. I felt the story lacked continuity in a way, it just didn't flow. I mean I am reading about Adriane in science lab and the next page I am in the garden with Zax??
I have to acknowledge that all the characters are related to each other in some way or another, but they just didn't support each other to carry on the story. It's like reading five or six individual stories all set into one book, and nothing wrong with that, lots of books do it, but in this one I felt they just needed more time to develop, more info, more fine details.
On the bright side, the story Mrs. Gillian is presenting has a lot of potential, it felt to me like a wonderful combination of Mean girls meets 90210-Pretty Little Liars and considering the target group, young adults is winning combination when you have a bitch everyone loves to hate, a drug addict, a struggling gorgeous model and a lovely rich boy.... I just want to be able to relate and remember their names after I turn the page.....
This book picks up where the first left off except it gets more deceptively delicious in terms of soap opera drama. This is the second book in the family portrait series. In this we are meeting the Banovic siblings.
Kevin, Zax and Adrianna Banovic
Personally for me there was too many characters, each with there own story. I don't think any of the characters had time to develop or tell much of a story.
Kevin is having an affair with an older woman, he is also her drug supplier. Unknown to him, she was his mother’s best friend in high school. He ends up saving Savi’s step daughter from her abusive boyfriend. He tries to end things with Savi but she starts to blackmail him.
Zax, he is loyal to his friend,Frankie, even though this friend is going out with the girl he loves and wants to be with. Zax has another girl after him, one he only sees as a friend.
Adrianna, she seems to have a split personality. She is this horrid mean girl at school, yet the perfect daughter, sister and friend at home. She got Astrid expelled from school but I have no idea why she did it.
This book didn't tell me much, it was like an introduction. I was waiting for it to get going and it ended. The ending was a little strange. I don't understand why Kevin would do that to someone he neither knew or was related to him. It chopped and change POV a few times. It was a little confusing. I wanted to know more about each person, wanted them to have time to tell me why they was doing something or acting in a certain way.
Since I haven't read the first book in this series I suppose it could tell me more about each of the characters. I found the ending was rather abrupt and very unexpected.
I have given the book 3 stars as i can see it has potential.
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
The Banovic Siblings is the second book in the Family Portrait Series by Gillian Felix. This book continues to follow the lives of characters introduced in the first book of the series, Changes. Since this series is written similar to a TV series, you need to read the books in order to follow the stories. Books 1 and 2 end with cliffhangers similar to those you would get at the end of a TV episode as well.
While Changes was more of a YA book, The Banovic Siblings moves a little more into the NA genre. Overall, I would still consider it older YA, though. Although most of the characters of the series attend the same high school, not much of this book actually took place in the school. There continues to be many different storylines, but they are all easy to follow. This is not one of those stories where you will get bored. It moves at a good pace and doesn’t bog down at all.
It’s really hard to write this review. I want so badly to discuss some of the storylines, but I don’t want to give anything away. Suffice it to say, some of the stories are about to get really interesting. Some secrets are bound to come out soon. I can’t wait to see what happens. If you grew up watching 90210 and Melrose Place and/or currently enjoy shows like those on the CW (I’m guessing on that reference since I don’t get that channel, but the commercials for the shows seem similar), you should definitely give these books a try. They are very entertaining. The third book is due out April 13th. I imagine it will be torture having to wait for the rest of the series.
The Banovic Siblings is the second book in the Family Portrait series and even though I haven’t read the first book yet, I easily got into the story and understood what was happening with the characters.
I felt like this book read like a television series with several characters whose story arcs are all intertwined. The story had a quick start and I was soon immersed into the different storylines and there were a lot of exciting moments to keep me on my toes.
The book is very well-paced and since there are a lot of things going on, it was a really fast and enjoyable read for me, even though it is quite different from what I usually read. What I didn’t like about the story was that I had to put much more effort to connect with each and every character since the book quickly switches to a different character’s story, making it much more difficult to keep track of who’s whom
Overall, I found this book highly enjoyable and am excited to find out what happens next.
Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book in return for an honest review.
Title: The Banovic Siblings Author: Gillian Felix Publisher: Createspace Series: Family Portrait # 2 Reviewed By: Arlena Dean Rating: 4 Review:
"The Banovic Siblings" by Gillian Felix was the second in the 'Family Portrait' new adult series. You will find that there were a lots of weird drama going on with these rich teenagers doing all sorts of things while it seemed that the parents were not aware of it. I found there were also many characters Kevin, Leighann, Savi, Haze, Adriana and Zax to name a few in this story and it was most interesting how this author was able to play them all out so well giving the reader a well written story. Now, you had to keep up in the read because something was always going on in this intriguing read. Be prepared for ...blackmail, love, emotions, hate and secrets. You will have to pick up this read to see for yourself how this author will bring it all out to the reader. All I can say is what a world these people lived in and with that being said I guess we will have to see what the next series will have for us.
I like how the characters intermingled with one another. There are lot of characters that interconnected with each other and each has a story to tell. There is a lot going on in this book, the author has it pretty busy from petty vengeance to manipulative women. This book is a soap opera with each sibling live dual lives, each have dreams and wants but they go out of their way to block each change they have to find love. This is a drama filled read with many interesting characters the book is easy to follow. There is a lot going on but the author never leaves you behind.
I have not read book one so I might be missing something. The problem I had with this book is there was no closure and all the drama, to be a good read it must have closure at least for me. I do not much care for drama but this was a nice read. If you're looking for a fun, quick, soap opera, drama read this is the book for you.
Prosecution: The writing style is still a bit off putting. It reads like a Spanish melodrama without the pressure and anxiety that builds up to each "big" twist and turn. Maybe it even reads just a bit too fast, as there isn't hardly any emotion.
Defense: The storyline definitely delivered and didn't disappoint. I'd venture a guess to say that I enjoyed the sequel better than the first!! While I don't want to give too much away, expect the one-two punch with each chapter. New twists, turns, a sexy new romance, and a whole lot of, well, California drama will lead up to a HUGE ending. (Which, isn't weed legal there, why are they being so secretive about the drugs??)
The Banovic Siblings is a continuation of the Family Portrait series by Gillian Felix. The action begins again from the very beginning and doesn’t stop through the entire book. There are innumerable plot twists, keeping the reader interested in what the next chapter will bring. If you haven't read Changes, Family Portrait, Volume 1, I suggest you read it before you read this book.
Ms. Felix has written some of the most interesting characters and they come with an abundance of challenges that read like they’ve been ripped from the pages of the latest gossip mag. They are characters that I love to love and several that I just can’t make myself like! She continues to show her talent and creativity with each successive volume.
This is that rare sequel that I find to be better than the original novel. Now, I’m so ready for book three!
I am glad I read the note at the end of the book that this was written as a potential tv series. That is what bumped the book to three stars.
I have a feeling of "meh" about the book. Although the events in the book were interesting, I just didn't get drawn in. It jumps from character to character so quickly, I didn't really get to form opinions of them. (Note:I did not realize this was a series and I have not read the first book, but glancing at a sample, it seems to be written in the same style).
It just read as a very dramatic soap opera (which makes sense given the tv series thing). So much information and action gets dumped on you that it's hard to keep characters straight. Also, the book was so short, I did not feel that there was ever a resolution; it just ended. To me, it might seem great on screen, but as a book it just didn't work out for me.
This is the second book in the series. It focuses on the Banovic siblings and the people they interact with. From the first story to the second, we realise that everyone ultimately ends up knowing the other person and everyone’s lives are intertwined in a web of love and deception. On one hand we see Savi and her attempts to come to terms with her daughter’s decisions in life and on the other we see a perfect couple in Robin Banovic and his wife who share a loving relationship with each other and their children. This story brings in more intrigue than the first and will definitely trap you in the world created by the author. The story is well written and gives us a glimpse into the entertainment industry. I really enjoyed the series so far and could not wait to read the third book.
The Banovic Siblings is book two of the series it picks up where book one left off except it gets more like a soap opera drama. Kevin is with LeighAnns Mom Sava, who is Adriana's best friend from college. Kevin tries to be honorable but the blackmail ensues. His web isn't as bad as Adriana's though. She has been her usual bitchy self. The story line is easy to follow it reminded me of Gossip Girl. You have a lot of different characters and each has their own story to tell. Even though they live different lives they are somehow all connected. The only thing i didn't like was the ending your left wondering what happens next? I can't wait to read book 3 so i can find out what happened. I highly recommend for Y/A to Adults who love books with plenty of drama.
