Jacob Clark is a typical 14-year-old. At least, until a pack of wolves chases him out of our world and into Eklaron. There, he discovers he has special powers—ones that can help the people in his new world. As long as the covetous Lorkon don’t catch up with him first. To save himself and his new people, Jacob must go on a potentially deadly quest. With no one to trust and no way to return home, Jacob has to make a risk his life or do nothing and put Earth and Eklaron in grave danger. Kilenya Series Books One, Two, and three are the first three of six books in a best-selling series of YA paranormal stories. If you like fast-paced adventure, magical quests, and original monsters and magic systems, then you’ll love this installment in Andrea Pearson’s Kilenya series.
Andrea, a Brigham Young University graduate, is an avid reader and outdoor enthusiast (hiking, fishing, boating, biking, spending time in the Rocky Mountains, and taking walks). She spent a year and a half serving the Spanish speaking community in Toronto, Canada, and fluently speaks 2 ½ languages. She plays several instruments, not including the banjo, and loves putting together musical arrangements. Her favorite sports are basketball and football, though several knee surgeries and incurably awful coordination prevent her from playing them.
Andrea is always in the mood for a good movie with close friends and family (especially her husband and mom), with a large glass of milk and a bowl of overly buttered popcorn nearby. She also enjoys oil painting, making earrings, squeezing every bit of oxygen out of Ziploc bags, and she hopes to someday travel to Italy and Alaska.
This series is geared towards 9-12 year olds – the approximate age in which I was first discovering fantasy and science fiction reads in my elementary school library. I would definitely have enjoyed this series if it had been available back then (many, many years ago). I consider this a lighter version of epic fantasy quest – without the “grit” I find in adult-themed series.
This box set has a pronunciation guide at the front, which I really enjoyed. As I went through the pronunciation guide, I found that I tended to pronounce most names the same as provided. There were a few words that I would have totally mis-spoken, and from experience I’ve learned that the sound of a name can actually change how you experience the story. ~smile~
Each story concludes in its arc, but also moves forward the overall arc of the series. And – I don’t recall seeing any mis-spellings or grammar errors in this box set!
The Key of Kilenya Book 1 – Kilenya Series Our main hero Jacob is 14 years old, and focusing on varsity basketball tryouts for the upcoming school year. Chased by wolves from his back yard, he heads for their treehouse in the woods – only to find himself in a strange land. A portal has transported him to a world (Eklaron) where the inhabitants know of him and the elders have been keeping watch over him. Magical powers develop, and he sets off on a quest to recover the stolen Key of Kilenya (a magical tool, of course ~gtrin~). With exciting chase scenes, this story was a fun read. I’m looking forward to the second story in the series – and wondering when we’ll find out why he has these powers and why the inhabitants of Eklaron have watched over him as he grew up.
The Ember Gods Book 2 – Kilenya Series The cast and characters of book 1 are back, with new foes to defeat. Jacob struggles to master the magical talents from before and develops new ones. No fantasy quest would be complete without a rescue of a team member, and this story does not disappoint. More exciting action scenes, and the source of Jacob’s magical powers are revealed along with other surprises! I am officially hooked on this series.
August Fortress Book 3 – Kilenya Series In the world of Eklaron, some of their greatest warriors (Shiengols) against the the bad guys (Lorkon) have been sealed in their fortress for a long number of years. Jacob and the now-familiar cast of characters set out across deadly traps to unseal the fortress and let them out. Heart-stopping action adds to the fun in this series. And we get hints of specific new magical talents that Jacob will likely develop during one of the three upcoming books. Can’t wait to read the next story!
These are fantastic books! Jacob stars out as a normal kid on earth hoping to make the basketball team when his life is flipped upside down and he discovers he had magic abilities and an evil race of people in a different dimension are trying to kidnap him. I get lost in them and have a hard time putting them down and going to bed at night. Good clean action, adventure and fantasy all in one.
A fun middle-grade fantasy series that I quite enjoyed.
I like that in this one the kids don't have to keep from their parents that they're battling epic evil. It's quite a change from the usual "the adults can't know!" that peppers these sorts of books.
This is a lovely piece of tween fantasy fiction. The parts that bothered me, predictability and tidy relationships are perfect for this age group. The story itself it well written. The premise is engaging. The world and story are well conceived and well executed.
The Kilenya Series by author Andrea Pearson is a fun, adventurous series about a teen boy and his adventures in a magical world. I loved reading this series! Even as an adult, teen fantasy and adventure are my favorite genres. This author writes good, clean books that are fun to read. I've read the books in this series more than once and enjoyed them each time.
In this Boxset of Andrea's first three books of her Kilenya series you will find great characters like Jacob who ends up in another world called Eklaron. He goes on a quest to save the people of Eklaron with his new powers and just might save Earth at the same time. These books are full of adventure and magic that will draw anyone in.
Just finished book three of the Kilenya series. All three of the books were awesome! Very exciting and original series. I will be reading the rest of the books.
I totally adored Andrea Pearson’s Kilenya Chronicles and read (actually gobbled up) each book as it became available for download. And now there’s a boxset of books 1-3. I wish I’d had that from the start as it sure is convenient. For those new to this wonderful literary world, here are my reviews of those three books.
Forsaken Prince (Kilenya Chronicles Book 1)
I actually read the original version of this book, The Key of Kilenya, way back when it came out. I loved that so I couldn’t resist getting this one when it came out. I’m glad I did. The original one (still available) was perfectly designed and appropriate for a middle school audience, even though adults could enjoy it, the same way as I totally enjoyed the Harry Potter and Percy Jackson books my son read at that age. This book is designed to be a grown up, matured version of that tale. It’s plot, while clearly based on the earlier version, is significantly changed. This is both in minor details and in more obvious plot details. The minor changes, such as its lead character, Jacob, starting out a few years older (16 instead of 14), can actually be pretty significant. The author is being subtle here as this enables that character to legitimately have more mature thoughts in general and to have have more mature romantic and other drivers behind his actions. The more obvious changes really do change major parts of the storyline, things like Jacob’s dad and sister getting kidnapped by the Lorkon, and Aloren being hired to bring Jacob to the Makalos. Despite these changes the basic fabric of the story, with its sense of wonder, excitement and adventure, is preserved. That’s a very good thing as this now very much revised tale is a very wonderful story. For those who read the original before I definitely recommend this new, if clearly related, story. For newcomers, you’re in for a treat. Personally I’m looking forward to seeing what’s been done to the other books. Highly recommended.
Ember Gods (Kilenya Chronicles Book 2)
I loved the original Ember Gods, book 2 of Andrea Pearson’s original Kilenya series (which can still be purchased on Kindle). This despite that fact that I was already several multiple times it’s targeted middle school aged audience. It was a magical tale with a gripping story that held me just as much as similarly targeted stories (Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, et al) managed to do. Now the author has done a remake of that story for her new Kilenya Chronicles, which is target at a young adult and mature adult audience. This is no simple editing of ages with minor tweaks. Instead it is a substantial rewrite, and yet it holds true to that original story and still gives the reader that same sense of wonder. The cast of (somewhat older) characters is wonderfully crafted (with matured emotions and approach to relationships, life crises, etc) and the plot works beautifully and is very (very) well written. I can’t tell which version I prefer, but I can say they are both superb and I’m happy to highly recommend this book (though it’s best to read book 1 in the series first).
August Fortress (Kilenya Chronicles Book 3)
This is book three of the Kilenya series, and I strongly recommend reading the first two books in the series before this one. Having said that, it's a highly addictive series so I doubt anyone will have any problems doing that. As with the prior books, August Fortress is s great book of magical adventures with strong characters that continue to develop and a neat storyline. A really fun read no matter what your age is, and easy to recommend.
I have read all three books separately but looking back I can see that buying the set all together is a much better deal. Not only that, you don’t have to wait between books. You start the next book right after the previous one without any breaks.
The Forsaken Prince Goes on a quest with some very unique characters to find his father the king and his sister. They have plenty of adventures along the way with some high action and tense moments to keep the reader in suspense.
Ember Gods Some fantastic characters, great world building, and very well written. A very exciting and intense fight with the Fire Turners, who like to call themselves Ember Gods, was a very imaginative page turner.
August Fortress Jacob has many disappointments, hardships and harrowing experience in this third book of Kilenya Chronicles. The ultimate goal in this book is to reach August Fortress where the Shiengol warriors have been trapped there by the Lorkons who have put several traps around the area that make it difficult for anyone to get in or out.
All three of these books were a wonder. I would not hesitate to recommend them for all YA readers who love fantasy and intrigue.

I love these books. I started them because I was tired of reading "adult" books. I wanted simple books without all that sex and garbage. Andrea Pearson really delivers a great story that is simple and yet it holds my interest. I had to read these straight through. I couldn't put them down. I read straight through the night because I wanted to know what was going to happen next. You just never know what is going to happen next to Jacob and Nicole. Will they get through the next day at school or the next problem? Will Jacob learn what he must learn to survive? Will Nicole be able to do what she must? I can't wait to read the rest of the series. Hurry Andrea!
I enjoyed reading this trilogy and feel that the story was pretty well developed considered the books are geared toward middle schoolers. Every character was thought out and explained while the story was painted vividly and very expressive. There is plenty of potential for spin offs but I think that other stories by this author will probably have a lot of promise.
This story grabs your imagination and doesn't let go. It's very cool to be able to start reading an entire three books altogether. Fabulous monsters, brave characters and a child becoming a man and a hero. Besides which I will never look at a turkey the same way again.
This series by Andrea is just as good if not better than her Mosaic Chronicles and the Koven Chronicles. I have read them all and they are great with no garbage language and no overt sex to clutter the mind. I love your books and am eagerly awaiting the next book in the Koven Chronicles.
