Title: Our A Cappella (A Cappella, #1.5)
Author: Yessi Smith
Genre: New Adult, Contemporary, Romance
Series: A Cappella
Publication Date: February 7th, 2014

5 BUCKING STARS!

I was lucky enough to be a beta reader on Our A Cappella and let me tell you, this is one novella you won't want to pass up. Lovers of Life's A Cappella, snatch up a copy of this bad boy when it goes live on February 7th for the following reasons.

1) We get more of our favourite fictional family...in TRENT'S POV. Oh, yes, that piece of sexy man meat takes the lead in this book and lets us know the ins and outs of what he, Erin and Shayla have gotten up to since Life's A Cappella.

2) We get inside Nate's head, bitches.

3) Sex. Explicit Sex. Hell to the yes!

4) Nate.

5) Nate

6) And more Nate.

It is completely obvious that I LOVE Nate, at the moment that lad is my number book boyfriend. His description, his personality, his accent...ugh, I just love him!

My Nate feels aside, in OAC, we follow Trent, Erin and Shayla five months into marriage and family life and from the get go you can see you small divide between the characters due to Erin's education workload. Trent's mission in OAC is to de-stress Erin is the most delicious of ways and remind themselves of they love they share.

Mr Nate staying with the family tends to step on Trent's plans every now and then due to his ever there presence. Nate's presence not only effects the family but also a certain lucky bitch lady's heart as well as her labido.

True to the A Cappella series however, this filler is by no means a mini happily ever after. Oh, no, Ms Yessi Smith doesn't like writing a book without making her readers heart stop and tears pour from their eyes while they read and that is exactly what happened to me while reading. The woman is a sadist I tell you because mid way through the novella I just about died when a certain something was revealed. A certain something that requires me to read the next book immediately!!

If you've read Life's A Capella, you definitely need to read Our A Capella (and if you haven't, you need to do so soon!!) I was lucky enough to get Our A Capella as an ARC! I was super excited about getting more of Erin, Trent, & Shayna's story & more from Yessi Smith (even tho she likes to make me cry, as she did again in OAC!)

In OAC, we get more of their story from Trent's POV! We learn how their relationship is going 5 months in to their marriage! Erin is trying to get a better education to make sure they give Shayna the future she deserves! But what Erin doesn't realize is while pushing herself to work, go to class, study & spend time with Shayna, she's leaving an important person out! Trent is frustrated b/c he misses his wife & their time together! When he does think he has a chance to spend a little quality time with her, he's reminded that they have a house guest! Erin's 'brother' Nate is staying with them & even tho Trent thinks the world of him, his presence is taking away that quality time he wants with his wife! Trent decides to take matters into his own hands & takes Erin on a weekend getaway (which wasn't easy seeing as she fought him on it!) He wants uninterrupted time with his wife & he's gonna get it!

Not only did Yessi give us more of Erin, Trent & Shayna.....she gives us Nate!! I love a sweet 'southern boy' so I was extremely excited to get more of Nate!! We see as he starts something special with Tonya, only to be hit with devastating news! He tries to keep his secret, to spare the ones he loves any heartache! What he soon realizes is, they don't want to be spared, they want to be there with him, helping him fight this ugly battle!

In my opinion, an amazing author captures the character's every emotion, their ups & downs, you feel everything they're going through! Yessi Smith is one of those amazing authors!  Once again, she sucked me in from the beginning, keeping me captive til the very end! I felt like I was right there, feeling neglected with Trent and fighting the battle with Nate! I can't wait to read the rest of Nate & Tonya's story!!

Our A Cappella (A Capella, #1.5) by Yessi Smith
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Our A Cappella, is sweet Novella that follows up “Life’s A Cappella”. The story picks up right where the first left off, after Erin and Trent’s wedding. The couple is adjusting to being parents to Shayna, and married life. Erin has gone back to school and is struggling with work, home life, and studies and poor Trent is feeling left out. Still Trent is just as patient as ever with Erin, and tries to whisk her away on romantic weekend.

“Because although her mother had hurt both Shayna & Erin, she did something I could never repay her for. She gave me the two loves of my life. They were broken when we found each other, but my own Mom taught me that love and patience can heal almost anything.”

And patience was for sure something that was needed, especially when Erin finds out that her oldest friend and brother, Nate, has cancer.

What a great follow up to the first book, Erin is still going a hundred miles an hour, but has Trent and Shayna to ground her. This book also introduces us to more of Nate and his story. Nate remains the ever tough guy, but hides his cancer from his father, Erin, and his new love, Tonya. However, fear not because there will be more of Nate & Tonya in the next novel. And how about one holy cliffhanger! I kept going back hoping that I had missed a whole chapter! This was a short story of love, patience, trials, and family. This novel is geared toward anyone 18 an over, due to strong sexual content.

5 stars to Yessi Smith, for a great novella! Normally, I steer clear of Novella’s because I feel cheated because they are so short, but when you love Erin & Trent as much as I had from the first book, I was eager to pick up where they left off. Thank you to, Yessi Smith, for the opportunity to read and review her book, I can’t wait for more!

Our A Cappella by Yessi Smith
This is a novella from Life’s a Cappella. The story picks about 5 months after Trent’s and Erin wedding. Erin and Trent are having some issues with the change of work and Erin getting her Masters degree in Nursing and raising Shayla, Erin sister that they adopted. Erin close friend Nate gets involved with her friend Tonya who has her own sets of issues. Will there love be strong enough to overpower these issues.
Yessi Smith is amazing; she sucked me in once again. In Lifes a Cappella the story was told more in Erin and Shayla POV. In this book you get to read and feel what Trent and Nate truly felt. I loved this story as much as the first. I read this in one sitting I could not put this down I just had to know how it ended. This story went straight to my heart because everyone who has been in love and a serious relationship could truly feel what these characters are feeling. I definitely will continue to read this author. I give this book a 5 out 5 stars. If you’re ready for an emotional story you should check both Life a Cappella and Our A Cappella out.

I was lucky enough to receive this amazing novella as an ARC.
Trust me when I say it’s fabulous because it is…. I picked this book up to read and could not put it down ….
This book gives us more Trent and Erin from Trent’s POV and we finally get inside Nate’s head too…….
This is post wedding and shows how real life keeps you so busy that sometimes the romance can get lost and requires you to make extra effort to keep it alive.
This book will suck you in and keep you wanting more and more……
Nate, Erin’s oldest friend is currently staying with them…. His sizzling connection with Tonya is blossoming in to more…..
But he is hiding a sad secret ….. That when exposed will affect everyone…..
If you loved Life’s A Cappella…. You need this book in your life…. For me this novella gave me more of Trent and Erin’s beautiful sweet relationship and the insight of Nate and Tonya who are wild and hot …. I cannot wait for more.

I loved this novella...usually, novellas fall short of offering just enough story line to pull you in, which is why I try to steer clear of them. NOT Our A Cappella...it is funny, sexy, and gripping.

Our A Cappella starts off five months after Erin and Trent have married. The book is written in alternating POV, from Trent, Nate, (Erin's best friend) and of course, don't forget little Shayna...the story gives us the insight of the life of the newlywed couple, and the struggles they face, trying to stay connected as life tries to pull them apart.

Nate's story begins to be told and it is gripping!! Nate's story is completely unexpected! Your mouth will hit the floor as your heart strings tug and pull at the seams.

Our A Cappella is a wonderful novella, filled with light hearted love, steamy sex, and real life circumstances...it leaves you wondering, will love find a way?

In what I am realizing is typical Yessi Smith fashion, she has written another heart wrenching story that will leave its mark in your heart. This time, we get Trent and Nate's point of view and all I can say is that I want more Nate!

“Our A Cappella” by Yessi Smith
5 out of 5 stars

The story of Erin, Trent, and Shayna continues in this novella by Yessi Smith. This go around we get to see events unfold through the eyes of Trent, Shayna, and Nate. It was exciting being able to be in Trent’s head and see Erin through his eyes. It was refreshing to see that life is still not perfect for them, that even though they found their happy ever after they are still having to fight for it daily. I loved that he has fully stepped into the role of Daddy where Shayna is concerned and embraced her as though she were his own child. They had a lovely relationship that made me smile. I really liked seeing, from Shayna’s perspective, how healthy and happy she was.

The real surprise here is Nate. He is on an extended stay in Florida and has found himself in a relationship with Tonya, Erin’s friend. He is facing some really tough decisions and this unexpected attraction has derailed him from his true purpose in being in town. Life has thrown Nate some definite curve balls and I really enjoyed watching him take a swing at each and every one. His perspective is fresh and often times comical and brings with it new insight into Erin. His brotherly affection for her and the dynamic between the two is a lovely phoenix from the ashes of her past.

I feel like this book is meant to bridge the gap between the first one and a future book. It reads like a book 1.5 and is considered a novella. I do love Erin and Trent and their story, but it was fun getting to know Nate a little better. I am sensing that the next book will focus more on his story with Erin and Trent’s story continuing a bit in the background. I like that Smith is expanding this universe a little, because I absolutely love this cast of characters. I’m not ready to leave their world yet and I can’t wait to see where Smith goes with the series next.

Read this series!!!! You will not be disappointed!!!! Yessi Smith has crafted an engaging story and a group of people that will have you rooting for them like no other. You will laugh, you will cry, you will be moved, and you will not want to leave.

Yessi Smith’s Our A Cappella (OAC) picks up five months after Erin and Trent’s wedding in Life’s A Cappella (LAC). It is told from multiple POVs: Trent, Nate and Shayna. I love being able to revisit our favorite characters! We see Erin as she is struggling to balance family life with school and work. Trent, as he is trying to manage work and family and also pressing Erin for more attention in their new marriage. Nate has been spending a lot of time with Tonya and has been staying with Erin and Trent and also seems to be carrying a heavy weight on his shoulders. And Shayna has her own unique perspective on all she sees!

Yessi Smith once again captures the character’s emotional ups and downs in this book. It was so easy to get lost in them and not want to put the book down. OAC is that perfect bridge that takes us from LAC, catches us up on Trent, Erin and Shayna and then starts to transition us over to Nate. I think that OAC helps to whet our appetite for what is to come in the next story. We had already adored Nate from LAC but he just became so much hotter and sexier here and now we are also rooting for him, for Tonya and have a NEED to make sure that everything turns out alright.

If you read Life’s A Cappella then this is a no-brainer read for you. And if you haven’t, then please go one-click Life’s A Cappella because it is an absolute MUST READ book IMO and then read Our A Cappella! You won’t be sorry!

Wow!! Yessi Smith does not pull the punches in this novella. She takes you on an emotional roller coaster ride that is packed in to a few short action packed pages.
In this book we get to see Trent’s POV and how he handles married life, work, and balance it all to keep everyone happy in this little family. It starts five months after him and Erin are married.
Erin is getting her master’s degree in nursing and is completely stressed. From the start you can tell there is a little divide between the characters because of this.
Also, we get more Nate in this book. Nate is Erin’s oldest friend and brother from back home. He gets involved with Erin’s friend, Tonya. They each have their own demons to workout in this book.
This book held me captivated from the very first paragraph. When the end came, I was left wanting more. This novella was just as good as the first book. I cannot wait to see what Yessi comes up with next in this series for us to read.

Read Life's a Capella before you read this. You won't be disappointed. Life's a Capella was written in the female POV. This book lets us read about Trent & Nates POV- let's not forget Shayna!

I read this brilliant book in one sitting. It's a gripping read. Yessi pulled on my emotions again in this book. She really knows how to play with my heart.

This is a fantastic emotional rollercoaster of a story. Be prepared and have the tissues ready.

Cliffhanger!!!! I'll say no more.

I can't recommend these books highly enough. Love them. Can't wait to read the next book.

Book 2 starts off 5 months after Book 1 – ‘Life’s A Cappella’ left off. This book is written in Trent and Nate’s POV (Nate is the brother Erin (not in blood) who you meet in book 1), Shayla also pops into the POV sometimes, but I don’t want to write too much and spoil the books for new readers.

Erin is now studying for her Master’s in Nursing, and this means she is very busy and this means she is neglecting Trent a little, which he is finding frustrating to say the least, plus the fact that they have a house guest staying with them is cramping their alone time too.

The secondary characters are all there – Nate and one of Erin’s friends Tonya are getting to know each other and this where I start to struggle with describing the book without giving too much away.

All I can say is that I read this book in 2 hours, that it will, like the first book be on the emotional roller coaster, and you are left with a cliff hanger… Ms Smith sure had me sobbing in places but I am hopeful that Book 3 will bring resolve. Pretty please Yessi!

If you were left wanting more after Life's A Capella, this novella's for you. Our A Cappella was a slight continuation of Trent and Erin's story, but was also Nate and Tonya's story. It was different from Life's A Capella in that it was told from Trent and Nate's male perspectives. The realistic dialogue as well as the real world issues helped me to identify with the characters as well as the story line in Our A Capella. There was definitely a lot of story packed into this relatively short novella!

This novella is brilliant, it gives you that little bit more insight into Trent, Erin and Shayna's life that you've been craving since you fell in love with them in Life's A Capello. And you see the start of Nates and Tonyas story! You may need a tissue or two and it will definitely leave you CRAVING the next book!! Although Yessi Smith is cruel cos the next book isn't out until later this year :(
Definitely recommend this :) ❤

Beautiful book. Picks up 5 months after the first. And it's from Trent's POV, I love male POVs. His love for his family is beautiful. I hated that he felt second to their marriage but Erin realized it and made up for it. Love, love, love Shay-she is adorable. Yessi Smith writes these books from everyone's POV and it's great. Nate ( brother and uncle ) was a big part of this novella. his character made my laugh and cry. Looking forward to more for this "family"

Yessi Smith is an amazing author, with her words she is able to pull you into her story and put your emotions on a rollercoaster! Make sure to have tissue handy when reading! Yessi once again had my emotions going up and down. I could not put the book down until I had it finished, I had to know what was going to happen.
Our A Capella picks up right where life’s A Capella left off. Written perfectly catching us up on Trent, Erin and Shayna. With a perfect transition for Nate’s story to be told. Life’s A Capella was written in the female POV now with Our A Capella we get to read in Trent and Nate’s POV! I love boks that are written in more than one POV myself. It helps me to get more of a feel for all the characters.

Erin and Trent are adjusting to the married life and raising her little sister Shayna. Nate is living with them and tends to kinda put a wrench in Trent’s plans. Trent thinks the world of Nate, but him living with them makes it hard sometimes for Trent to act on his thoughts of what he would like to do with this wife. Erin has returned to finish her masters in nursing struggling to make everything work together. Trent true to his nature is as patient as ever with Erin and wants nothing more than to take her away on a romantic weekend just the two of them.

Nate has been diagnosed with cancer and tries to hide it from his father, Erin and his new love Tonya. But soon realizes that they do not like being left out and want to help him through his fight. Tonya is one of Erin’s friends and she has some issues that test her relationship with Nate…. Can they overcome these issues and over power them? This novella is the opening of Nate and Tonya’s story that will be told in the next addition!

My Rating: 3.5 stars!!!

Copy gifted by the author in return for an honest review

Our A Cappella continues telling the story of Trent and Erin and their daughter Shayna.

Now living together, Trent and Erin struggle to dedicate enough time to each other while also taking care of Shayna. Erin is studying hard and with Trent's job, time for themselves is in short supply. Erin is tired and Trent is frustrated and something has to give if their relationship is to survive.

Nate also reappears in this story but unlike Trent and Shayna, life for him isn't going exactly to plan. Happy spending time with Tonya, Trent has a secret to tell but is reluctant to reveal it and risk changing the dynamic of his relationship with the group of friends.

After enjoying Life's A Cappella, I had high hopes for Our A Cappella but sadly for me personally it fell a little flat. It felt at times like it was merely a factual recount of Trent and Erin's day to day life and it only picked up around 70% through when the story took on an emotional change in direction.

The ending to this novella was too sudden and resulted in the inevitable cliffie although the scene could have been set up better for the next instalment. For me it just.... ended!

Our A Capella is a novella (#1.5 of the A Capella Series)
This novella is told from Trent & Nate’s POV. Trent & Erin are now married and Trent feels like he is being put on the back burner in his wife’s priorities. Trent just wants to show his wife how much she means to him. Erin is still very stubborn, but is trying to build a better life for them as a family by continuing her education and getting her Master’s degree.

Nate is Erin’s “brother”, childhood friend, and Shayna’s uncle. He has become a big part of this family circle and while staying with Trent & Erin he forms an attraction to Tonya. Nate has his own secrets that he is hiding. His truth will be revealed whether he is ready to share or not.

It always seems the ones who do the most good, get hurt the most, or the worst seems to happen to them. Check out this novella and see Trent and Nate’s story moving forward. I absolutely cannot wait to see what is to come of book 3! I also gave this book a 4 star rating.

This novella picks up shortly after “Life’s A Cappella” ends. Trent and Erin are now married, so we see their daily struggles; trying to juggle life as newlyweds, raising a daughter together, all while Trent works and Erin continues her schooling. Trent is feeling very left out and alone. Can they figure out how to juggle everything and find their way back to one another?

We see a lot more of Nate in this book. We see his struggles with his blossoming relationship and his life-altering discovery.

Funny, sweet, sad, and sexy…all wrapped up in this quick-read novella. The story and characters are so real. Definitely a good continuation of their story and a must-read if you enjoyed “Life’s A Cappella”

I was given this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.

As someone who really enjoyed the first book, I was excited to be able to read this one. It picks not long after the end of the first one, so it was easy to get right back into the story.

The difference in this story was it had less Erin in it, and more Trent and Nate. I did like getting to know Nate more, so it was a welcomed change.

My biggest issue in this story was the editing. Unlike the first book, it was just with typos this time. The story itself was great - I really enjoyed it.

It was a quick read, enjoyable with enough drama to keep you reading while gripped to your seat.

I liked that this novella was told from the male point of you. I was able to see more of Nate and Trent's points of views of situations and what they were thinking. This wasn't just about Trent and Erin but also about Nate and Tonya and I loved that! I yearned for more of their story at the end of the first book.
Trent and Erin have been married for 5 months and Erin is trying to finish her master's degree while Trent struggles to make ends meet. The story portrayed a perfect example of how life after marriage isn't always peachy but you have to work in relationships to make each other happy and sacrifices are sometimes necessary.

One thing I enjoyed about Yessi Smith’s writing in Life’s A Cappella was that there was so much emotion that could be felt in the story. It really pulled at my heartstrings throughout the book. Our A Cappella did not disappoint. Although it was a quick read, and I felt it could really have been drawn out into a full size novel, It was really good. It was just too quick for me. I really wanted more. I’m giving it 4 stars for this reason. But the book was still very good. Hope to see more from Yessi Smith in the future.

A wonderful follow up to "Life's A Cappella" by Yessi Smith. It's no secret that Yessi's first book was one of my favourite reads for 2014. This book felt like catching up with old friends. Yessi is never afraid to tackle the difficult subjects and as always: she delivered on this one. If you read "Life's A Cappella" and enjoyed it as much as I did, you won't be disappointed with this one. I admire the author's deeply layered and economical prose, and the ability to convey so much in the space she utilises.

Be warned: emotions will be played with and bad words said at times!

Our A Capella is the second book in the A Capella series by Yessi Smith. When I started this book I wasn't prepared for such an emotional read. This storyline was solid with unexpected twists and turns that had me hooked from beginning to end. Loved the depth and emotion that characters had and of course the undeniable chemistry. Hated the ending...because it really left me hanging...and I am hoping for a third book to help round out the storylines. Truly loving Yessi and her style of writing!!
