This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the fourth book in the Cowboy Protectors series. I have read the first three books in this series before picking up this book. This is also the last book in this series. This book is filled with action and suspense, and I was living for all of it. There is a little bit of romance, but not much at all. I really loved the characters in this book, and I felt the connection that the two main characters had. I really loved the ending of this book, and the twists and turns were so great. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.
Get ready to saddle up and ride into a whirlwind of suspense, faith, and family ties in Virginia Vaughan’s Texas Ranch Cold Case. As the fourth and final book in the Cowboy Protectors series, this novel wraps up the saga in a way that will leave readers satisfied and inspired!
I was hooked by the intense and unpredictable plot. The action was relentless, with twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. Vaughan’s knack for blending suspense with a subtle, sweet romance adds a unique layer to the story. Ally Fulton and Officer Tucker Harmon are characters that leap off the page with their depth and authenticity. Both scarred by their pasts, their developing relationship showcases resilience and the transformative healing power of placing one’s total belief and trust in God.
Colossians 3:17 serves as the author’s foundational verse, reminding us that in every action and word, we must seek to do the things in the name of the Lord Jesus. This theme is beautifully illustrated in Ally’s journey. Her unwavering faith in God, despite the uncertainty surrounding her mother’s disappearance, is both touching and inspiring. Her prayer, “God, I have faith in You. I don’t know if You’ll ever bring me the answers I seek about my mom’s death, but I will follow Your guidance no matter what,” captures the book’s spiritual heart. It's a powerful reminder that trusting God often means letting go of our need for answers and instead embracing Him and His guidance.
The ranching backdrop adds a unique charm and authenticity to the story. Vaughan’s vivid descriptions bring the Texas landscape to life, making the reader feel as though they are right there on the Harmon Ranch. The sense of community and family is palpable, especially through the supportive dynamics of the Harmon cousins. Their unity in the face of danger and their collective effort to uncover the truth about the cold case is a beautiful depiction of familial bonds strengthened by faith.
While the romance between Ally and Tucker takes a back seat to the suspense, their moments together are tender and genuine. Their relationship develops naturally and is grounded in mutual respect and shared faith. It’s refreshing to see a romance that doesn’t overshadow the main plot but rather complements it.
Vaughan also excels in addressing the theme of redemption. Tucker’s quest to right his family’s wrongs and protect Ally is a journey of personal growth and forgiveness.
Texas Ranch Cold Case is a must-read for fans of Christian Romantic Suspense. Virginia Vaughan delivers a story rich in action, faith, and heart. It’s a book that entertains and uplifts, reminding us of the importance of faith, family, and forgiveness. Whether you’re a long-time fan of the Cowboy Protectors series or new to Vaughan’s work, this book will leave a lasting impression.
I received a digital copy of Texas Ranch Cold Case from the publisher and NetGalley. I am not required to write a positive review in any way or for any reason. My honest and unbiased opinions expressed in this book review are my own. My review focuses on the writing style, the pacing, and the story’s content, ensuring transparency and reliability.
Texas Ranch Cold Case is a story about a twenty-year-old cold case, and the daughter, Ally that desperately wants to find out what happened to her mother. She doesn't realize until she meets Tucker, that her life is about to change dramatically and throws them together for the search.
The story is full of suspense, danger, and unexpected twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. Constant action and surprises kept me engaged in the story as I tried to determine what would happen next.
The ending wrapped up and revealed everything well. I was kept guessing until the end. You don't want to miss this roller-coaster ride of suspense. Highly recommended.
I received an ARC from the author; a positive review is not required. All opinions are my own.
This is a Harlequin Love Inspired suspense. Heroine is a teacher who has been trying to investigate on her own what happened to her mother 20 years ago when she vanished and never to be heard again. She believes her mom is dead and so goes to the ranch she was last working at with a metal detector in hopes to find her body but someone shoots her in the arm and Hero who was shot during a SWAT mission is recouping at his ranch (he owns it with his cousins) and comes to her rescue. Together they try to find the person who shot her, as well as her Mother.
It’s a standard suspense theme that really holds nothing new in terms of plot, but I had a hard time liking heroine. She came across as too annoying for me and I found the MCs lacked chemistry. As for the suspense, it was clear to me from the start who the culprit was and I was not surprised to find I wasn’t wrong..
Trigger warnings: Most of these are completely off screen, but they are talked about: rape resulting in a child, stalking, attempted murder, attempted murder to look like a suicide, actual murder.
From a Love Inspired perspective, this suspense romance was pretty good. From an overall book perspective, this book was repetitive. Thoughts, ideas and concepts are repeated and repeated and repeated.
The Short Review
I liked the overall story line. It’s one of the better Christian romance novels I have read in a while.
Some things in this book were repetitive.
The book follows several Christian romance cliches, which can be fine but some of them, like insta-love, I personally don’t love.
I wasn’t feeling much chemistry between Ally and Tucker.
There is some social commentary in there that feels like right wing, Christian, anti-choice propaganda to me. Given what's going on in the states...I don't like it.
Neither a negative nor a positive, just an observation, the actual religious representation is non-existent until halfway through the book. Then the story morphs and it’s briefly almost overpowering before it fades into the background with the occasional person offering a prayer, silently.
The Long Review
Overall, I thought the story was better than many Christian romances I have read recently. What happened isn’t so unbelievable that you have to struggle to suspend your belief. So that part was nice.
Neither a negative nor a positive, but just an observation; the actual religious representation is non-existent until halfway through the book if you minus the social commentary on Ally’s conception situation. Then the story morphs and is briefly almost overpowering with religious representation (mostly because there was none and then BAM!) before it fades into the background with the occasional person offering up a pray, silently. To me it almost felt like this book was started with the intentions of not being a Christian romance and then was altered to include the religious content. It’s kind just…flung in there suddenly.
I personally prefer the Christian influence to not be so in your face. I like it when it’s just brief mentions of occasionally going to church or offering up a prayer. I don’t enjoy books that preach at you, so this book toed that line quite nicely for me. So that part was great, for me.
The repetitiveness within the book became something of a small annoyance for me. If that doesn’t bother you, then you’ll have no issues with this book. But for me, it was too much. A small example is when Ally gets attacked in the barn. “Someone hit me, Tucker. I was hit from behind.” and two seconds later “Whoever it was hit me from behind.” This repetitive nature isn’t just with the talking. It’s everything. I estimate that this book could probably be several pages shorter if the book had been edited down to cut out most of the repetitive lines. Not all, just most. I’m okay with a bit of repetitiveness to help drive home the seriousness of the overall situation or the all-consuming attention a person is giving a situation over a length of time. But it’s very overused in this story.
This book also runs off a lot of standard Christian romance cliches. Things like, people making decisions for other people without consulting them, insta-love, lack of communication resulting in deadly consequences, heroine’s having an identity crisis and turning into a TSTL damsel in distress for the sake of plot, unhealthy things like purposely saying hurtful things to push people away, again for the sake of forwarding the plot. The major one, that I absolutely loathe in any book is….the proposal after a whirlwind ‘romance’. In this case, it took just over two weeks for Tucker to propose and for Ally to accept. Ugh. No. Your relationship is completely based on the feelings you developed in a high-pressure situation. Remember what Sandra Bullock said to Keanu Reeves at the end of Speed? To sum it up, relationships that start/are based on feelings developed during a high stress situation are generally doomed to failure once normalcy sets in.
I do, however, appreciate that the author didn’t fall into what is usually the secondary Christian romance cliché ending that usually happens in the epilogue, the wedding ceremony 6 months or less from the proposal time. Hate that. So that was another bonus.
But going back
The love situation was near instant for Tucker, who goes 0 to 60 in one touch. We got 41 pages into the book when the author slapped us with this ”She reached for his hand and draped hers over his…Tucker felt his hand tingling at the touch. Her skin was soft and he liked it but it he didn’t want to go down that road. He wasn’t ready for that kind of attachment with someone. He carried too much marriage. His role wasn’t to be a husband and father.”
Like, woah Tucker, she just had a traumatic event and is merely giving you a gentle supportive touch…how does a hand touch equal you falling in love and planning your future so far ahead that you are a father….and then for you to kibosh the whole thing in a matter of seconds.
Continuing on, the social commentary from a religious point of view, even though any sort of God talk doesn’t appear until you are around 50% of the way through the book, starts off strong in this one. Literally page 43. Ally is the child resulting from her mother being r*ped. The author REALLY pushes that Ally’s mom loved her unconditionally even though she was the result of the traumatic event. Good for Ally’s mom, I guess. I do feel like this is social commentary and religious teachings screaming at us here though. I don’t like it just because of how it was presented. The semi-weird part is that Ally decides to use an ancestry DNA kit to try and track down her father…like okay, you want to know about your father….but he is also the person who hurt your mother and if you do find him, it better result in jail time.
Tucker is an interesting character, but I’m not sure I mean that in a good way. I’m not sure I actually like him when he thinks stuff like this, “The situation had ended in Tucker shooting and killing the man who’d been terrorizing his estranged girlfriend. That hadn’t bothered him. He didn’t mind taking out bad guys when the situation called for it. What really irked him was the response afterward…Tucker’s actions were scrutinized.” I’m sorry? So this is a Christian fiction, but Tucker is perfectly okay with killing someone? It didn’t bother him at all? What bothered him was the fact that the dead man’s father was friends with someone with clout so instead of Tucker getting to go right back to the job after he recovers, he’s under investigation? Really? That way of thinking is insanely concerning on multiple levels. Yeah the bad guy killed his ‘estranged’ girlfriend in the end, but you still killed a person, Tucker. Killing someone SHOULD bother a person, whether they deserve it or not, particularly when it sounds like this is his first on the job kill and the guy is just ‘meh’ about killing a guy. He’s completely fine with ending a person’s life. But he’s mad that there is an investigation and that he might not be going back to his job after his recovery. What a thing to put in a Christian romance!
So, Tucker is a SWAT Dallas cop who is on medical/investigational leave. Yet this guy can do things in an area that isn’t his district (and did I mention this guy is on leave for an on the job shooting resulting in death?) like dropping off evidence at ‘the lab’ to be tested for drugs and be dusted for fingerprints. Are USA police systems hugely different from other places in the world? As far as I know, he can’t do that. A) he’s under investigation and therefore not on ‘active’ duty and B) he does NOT work in the area. Just because your cousin is a cop in the area, doesn’t give you the ability to use police resources without being questioned. It would have been really easy to say he gave it to his cousin to send for testing. Fixed.
By page 61 Tucker is absolutely invested in Ally. Insta-love is alive and well. In two days he develops what I consider an unhealthy infatuation with her. He couldn’t explain his connection to Ally or his desire to help her, but he didn’t like the idea that his grandfather might have had a hand in her mother’s disappearance or, at the very least, had covered it up.” By page 77 it’s “had it only been two days since he’d met her? It seemed like more. The hours they’d spent together had bonded them in a way he couldn’t explain. He needed to prove to her that he wasn’t like his grandfather that he believed that people could find justice for their loved one and not be run over by power and politics.” The irony considering he’s complaining that it’s politics that has him in trouble in his job because a father is trying to get some sort of justice for his murderous loved one. Lol
Another ‘fun’ thing is how Tucker, as the ‘man,’ is making decisions for the both of them without even talking to Ally. So around page 78 Ally touches his arm after he tells her about his woe-is-me story and he pulls away because her touch continues to give him the feels. “She must have felt that connection too, because she lowered her head and nodded, clearly hurt by his abrupt pulling away. It was better for them both in the end.” Page 79, “He couldn’t deny the attraction to her he felt. It had taken everything in his being to leave her when he enjoyed her smile and her determination and the smell of her shampoo. The Harmon family had already hurt her so much. He didn’t need to add to her pain.”
So the way the author wrote this sounds 100% like Tucker is just making all the decisions for the both of them instead of him just making decisions for himself. This small writing distinction just rubs me the wrong way. It’s one thing to make decisions thinking of only yourself. You’re not ready for a serious relationship, for example. That’s completely fine. BUT it’s completely different when you are making decisions for other adults without any communication. Here it’s basically, I really like you and you seem to like me to some degree, but some of my family members may have hurt you in the past, so I won’t even attempt to have any sort of relationship with you. Ugh. The funny thing is, once he stops ‘fighting’ his attraction, everything falls into place. Only for him to screw up by, you guessed it, not communicating!
Things that gave me a laugh, for the wrong reasons. 1) Tucker assuming the ranch was safe (the guy who hadn’t stepped foot on the ranch since his father died basically), even though Ally was freakin’ shot on the ranch right at the start of the book. Not to mention that her mother was sexually assaulted AND later murdered ON the ranch. Safe….yes…. This guy is a former police detective turned SWAT member.
2) Tucker not communicating.
3) How ‘fine’ Ally was after being attacked…multiple times.
4) Ally flipping a switch and suddenly acting like a child while recognizing that she is acting like a child, but not caring because she’s mad. Obviously used to move the plot forward.
5) She also says hurtful things….because she’s mad. This is NOT a representation of a healthy reaction to an situation.
6) Ally giving up getting out of her hole because soil kept falling into the pit. Girl, anyone who has been kidnapped and thrown down a hole would use falling dirt to their advantage, I would hope. If you can’t climb out because the sides keep crumbling, use that crumbling to make yourself a ramp, mound, out of the hole. Duh.
Ahhh, a return to Jessup, Texas and the cousins of author Virginia Vaughan’s Cowboy Protectors series was wonderful reading for me on a rainy Sunday! Tucker Harmon has finally returned to the ranch he now owns a quarter of. Can this SWAT officer on medical leave ever make peace with the memory of his grandfather, and forge a relationship with the cousins he’s held at way more than arm’s length for years? Ally Fulton is a middle school teacher on a mission. Her mother disappeared from Harmon Ranch 20 years earlier, and despite all the obstacles she faces, she’s determined to get to the truth. When she’s shot while trying to quietly search the woods on the ranch, Tucker comes to her aid. Now she has a target on her back as someone is after her, presumably to keep the truth from being discovered. But can she trust Tucker - a Harmon- to help and not to hinder? Can the Lord crumble the very thick, very high walls around each of their hearts and lead them on a path back to Him…and to each other? You will definitely want to find out, plus it has my favorite, an epilogue! I received a complimentary copy of this book, but my opinion is entirely my own.
I truly enjoyed Texas Ranch Cold Case! I was hanging onto the edge of my seat since the beginning of this book. This story was a lot of fun to read, and I love the characters. I am glad that we were able to see all the cousins together one last time before the series ended! Although I was really sad to see this series end, I believe that Virginia Vaughan ended this series very well! I highly recommend this book and this series!
I was given a copy of this book by the publisher. All thoughts and comments are my own.
Ally Fulton returns to Harmon Ranch determined to find out what happened to her mother over a decade ago. But as she finds out, trying to find out the truth can be deadly because someone wants the truth to stay hidden. When her mom disappeared, Ally was only a small child. Now, she is a teacher and an adult and wants answers. Unfortunately, from the minute she starts investigating her life is in danger. The good news is that Tucker Harmon has returned to the ranch about the same time and is right there when shots are fired at Ally and can help her in her dangerous dilemmas. Tucker and his cousins are inspired by Ally to seek the truth about her mom Tonya and to find out along the way what really happened to their grandfather Chet. The story is riveting, with crisp writing that weaves suspense with an underlying romance. The characters are believable and relatable and the action is non-stop all the way to the exciting conclusion. Fasten your seatbelts….this is going to be an intense ride! Ms. Vaughn knows action and mystery. From the opening scene to the very end, this story captures your attention with each page you turn. I couldn’t put it down! So many interesting twists and turns in the development and solving of this 20 year old cold case.
I really liked Tucker and Ally as the love interest/couple of this story. Both not looking for love and have had some traumatic backgrounds/upbringings that bring the two together and allows each other to better relate to one another. Although the romance is not very romantic, there were several sweet and tender moments between them as they got to know one another in solving her mother’s case. I admire the Harmon family - cousins and all - coming together to do what is right and solve the cold case.
A very well written story and characters. I enjoyed the faith elements woven throughout the story as well. It is not quite full on insta-love but it is a pretty quick relationship development over a short amount of time. This book really is more 4.5 stars ⭐️ and my only honest complaint is I felt there was no good wrap up in the epilogue on Tucker’s case that originally brought him back home. I would’ve liked to see a victory/win there.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and Harlequin - Romance Publishing for the advanced copy. All my thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.

The Texas Ranch Cold Case by Virginia Vaughan Solving a decades-old crime will leave no place safe… Twenty years after her mother vanished, Ally Fulton returns to Harmon Ranch—the last place she was seen—and barely makes it out alive. Someone doesn’t want Ally digging up the truth. With a target on her back, she reluctantly accepts protection from Officer Tucker Harmon. Can he keep Ally alive—and right his family’s wrongs—before she’s silenced for good? This is Ally Fulton's story. This is Officer Tucker Harmon's story. This is impossible. Ally Fulton pushed away that negative thought. Lush, green pasture stretched out in front of her for as far as she could see. Her task did seem overwhelming, but what else could she do? She’d been stymied in her search for her missing mother on all sides since coming to Jessup, Texas, and given that she’d found no evidence her mother had left here when she’d vanished, Ally was convinced her body was buried somewhere among the green hills of Harmon Ranch. He turned his horse and urged him on before he got too lost in his own thoughts. After that incident, he’d wanted a place to hide out. This was what he needed to get his head clear. Room to roam, fresh air and no memories of murder. A shot rang out, then a scream. He yanked on the reins, pulling the horse to a stop. He scanned the area. The sound had come from the east, toward the back side of the property. He pushed the horse in that direction and kicked him into a gallop. Tucker heard a hum then spotted an ATV moving fast in the opposite direction. The sun glared off the rider’s helmet, blinding him to the driver’s identity. I recommend this book. The Texas Ranch Cold Case by Virginia Vaughan is a 5 star book. I am looking forward to reading more books by Virginia Vaughan . I received a complimentary copy of the book and was under no obligation to post a review. The opinions are my own. From Love Inspired Suspense: Courage. Danger. Faith. exas Ranch Cold Case Cowboy Protectors #4 By Virginia Vaughan
The mystery of her mother's disappearance has defined Ally Fulton's life. The need to know the truth is driving her to discover it. Rumors say she ran off, abandoning Ally. If only Ally could remember what happened—she knows her mother is dead and somewhere on the Harmon family ranch. She blames the Harmon family for protecting their secrets and hiding the truth about what happened that day twenty years ago.
Tucker Harmon never wanted to return to the family ranch. Not after his grandfather refused to help him and his mother, leaving him to the abusive hand of a step-father. Unfortunately, he's also avoided his cousins. But now he has no choice but to face the past.
As Tucker aids Ally in her quest for the truth, they discover that someone doesn't want the truth to come out. Worse, this elusive someone will silence her, and they don't care who else they must eliminate to keep the past firmly in the past.
But the deeper Tucker digs the more questions that are raised. Someone is lying, and until they know why, they will have to keep looking over their shoulders. Could the suspected murderer be someone they know? Or was it someone drifting through the area? Because if Ally is to be believed, her mother never left the Harmon ranch.
This is the final book in the Cowboy Protectors series, which features the four Harmon cousins—cousins who all lost their fathers and were abandoned by their grandfather, Chet Harmon. This book touches on Chet's death and the secrets he took to the grave. This book offers plenty of suspense as the truth dangles in front of them just out of reach.
If you love Romantic Suspense that isn't over-the-top in graphic anything (romance or violence), you'll want to read Virginia Vaughan's Texas Ranch Cold Case. This book is the perfect length for a HOT Summer weekend.
I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I provide my honest opinion. All thoughts expressed are my own.
Another amazing book by author Virginia Vaughan. This is the final book in the Cowboy Protectors series. Even though this is the final book in the series it is still considered a stand alone book. I personally do recommend reading the other books in the series as it will help with understanding the characters as they overlap in each book. It was very hard to say goodbye to the Harmon cousins. It has been so wonderful reading each of their stories.
You first meet Tucker Harmon, who is a police officer in the SWAT division. Tucker was injured on the job and is on leave. He came to stay and recover at his grandfather’s ranch. His grandfather Chet had recently passed away and he left the Harmon family ranch to him and his three cousins. Then you meet Ally Fulton, who is a middle school teacher. Ally is investigating her mother’s murder from twenty years ago. Ally’s mother used to work for Chet at the Harmon family ranch as his accountant.
Ally has snuck onto the ranch and is using a metal detector to see if it will pick up the metal from her mother’s necklace that she always wore. As she is searching, she hears a gunshot and then feels a terrible pain in her arm. She can’t believe someone is trying to killer her. Tucker is riding a horse and hears someone scream. Tucker comes upon Ally and gets help for her.
Tucker and Ally work together to find out who killed her mother. There’s a killer after them trying to stop Ally from knowing the truth. I highly recommend this book! It is full of action-packed and page-turning adventure. You will not be disappointed! Happy Reading!
Ally Fulton is determined to find out what happened to her mother 20 years ago. She worked at the Harmon Ranch, and she simply disappeared one day without a trace. Ally does not believe that her mother would leave without taking her daughter with her wherever she planned to go, but that is what the police believe.
When she arrives at the ranch with a metal detector, someone takes a shot at her. Officer Tucker Harmon comes to her rescue. He is not sure what to believe about Ally's mother, but when the hits keep coming, he comes to the realization that someone wants the past to stay in the past.
Tucker's grandfather, Chet Harmon, was never a loving grandfather after the death of his sons. His grandsons never got to fully enjoy the love of their gruff grandfather, so there is a little bitterness. However, Tucker does not believe his grandfather would harm anyone.
As the investigation heats up, more secrets start coming to light which make this mystery that much more complex. As the story plays out, it is obvious that both Ally and Tucker bear scars from their past. They also need to learn to trust others and quit making assumptions. Ally needs a faith refresher.
This was an interesting mystery which led us in a direction that I never saw coming. I always enjoy reading a cold case mystery book. It is interesting to see what a new set of eyes can find inside a cold mystery file.
Thank you to the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
"Texas Ranch Cold Case" is a Christian romantic suspense. Ally acted like a teenager with no relationship experience and little maturity. She's determined to hate all Harmons because her mother disappeared from their ranch 20 years ago. She resented that people weren't giving the case serious attention. Tucker helped her find the available information, but it happened so long ago there's not much to go on. When a recent murder appeared to be linked to the cold case, Tucker and the police turned their focus to it since it had active clues to track down. Instead of being happy that the case might finally be solved, she completely rejected Tucker for his 'betrayal.' She didn't want to see or talk with him ever again, even though his protection was the only thing keeping her alive after multiple attempts to kill her. The mystery was interesting, but Ally's immaturity didn't seem consistent since she's an otherwise responsible adult with a job as a teacher. Yet somehow she inspired Tucker's unwavering love.
Ally learned to trust God even before she got her answers, because of who God is rather than for what He gives. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this to fans of cold case mysteries.
I received an ebook review copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley.
When you’ve read a particular author often, there are certain things you come to expect in the storyline. When you see certain things occur, you know if you are going to be engaged in and enjoy the story. This author is one of my favorites and she is excellent at getting me engaged within the first few pages. This time around, she doesn’t disappoint in this aspect. Having read the other books in the series and knowing this was the series finale, I also wondered if I would figure it out halfway through or if the story would keep me guessing. In this, the author does not disappoint either.
The story is well told and the characters are enjoyable to read. When I thought I had the answer, the author threw a very effective curveball that I definitely did not see coming. I don’t want to give any spoilers so I will just write that this book kept me reading and annoyed when I had to put it down to take care of household tasks. Great job, Virginia! I know you are starting a new series. I look forward to reading that one as well.
While this book is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. However, you will get even more enjoyment if you read it as a series. While I received an ARC from the author via BookFunnel, the review provided is totally voluntary and the thoughts expressed are my own.
Reading this book was bittersweet! It's a fantastic story but it's also the end of the Cowboy Protectors series! Author Virginia Vaughan introduced the Harmon family and the Harmon Ranch to readers in early 2023 and now, three books later, the series is coming to a close. What a finale it is! Ally Fulton has returned to Jessup, Texas to find answers about her mother's death that occurred twenty years ago but it doesn't take long for her to become a target herself. She may not remember what happened but someone else does and they need to stop her!
I couldn't stop reading this novel that's filled with twists, turns, constant danger, and surprising revelations. Tucker Harmon soon realizes that Ally's quest has turned deadly but can he keep her safe long enough to solve this 20-year-old cold case? Worse still, is there someone at his late grandfather's ranch who's kept this knowledge hidden all of these years?
If you're looking for an intriguing mystery that keeps you guessing until the end, grab a copy of Texas Ranch Cold Case. I recommend it to all who enjoy romantic Christian suspense!
I received a digital copy from the author. There was no obligation for a positive review.
This suspenseful, hard-to-put-down read concludes the wonderful Cowboy Protectors series. I love this series that follows the lives and loves of the Harmon cousins of Jessup, Texas. This is Tucker Harmon’s story. Danger abounds as Tucker and Ally seek to find the truth about the disappearance of Ally’s mother 20 years ago. Well placed plot twists and a couple of major shocking revelations heighten the suspense. Sweet romance takes a back seat to the action but adds interest. The characters are realistic and easy to connect with. It was great to reconnect with the other Harmon cousins and see how they all come together as a family to help Tucker and Ally. I appreciate the gentle faith thread with reminders about trusting God. I highly recommend this book and the series as must reads for Inspirational Romantic Suspense fans! Note: Each book in the series can be easily read as a standalone. I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher with no obligation to write a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
In this latest and last book in a series about four cousins that inherited a ranch from their taciturn grandfather, we meet Dallas Swat Officer Tanner Harmon and school teacher Ally Fulton. After a hostage situation goes wrong and he is injured, Tanner is on leave and chooses to go to the ranch as he decides his future as an officer or a rancher. Ally came to town a year ago to find out what happened to her mother twenty years ago. A woman who was presumed to have left town leaving her daughter and her job at the ranch behind. Ally is sure her mom would not have left her. From the moment they meet, an attraction starts to bloom. But as feelings develop so does the danger when it’s obvious someone wants to harm Ally. This clean Christian suspense romance had an engaging plot as the whodunit and why is investigated. A good conclusion to the series. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Texas Ranch Cold Case by Virginia Vaughan is book #4 of her Cowboy Protectors series. Though it is totally standalone, it does have a nice tie up of the 4 books about cousins who inherit their dead grandfather's ranch. I really enjoyed reading this one about Tucker Harmon and Ally Fulton as they search for the answers to a 20 year cold case involving Ally's mom. As they get closer to finding the truth, you'll be on the edge of your seat as Ally's life is put in danger many times over. It's gonna be a surprise when you figure out the whodunit. So carve out an afternoon and settle in to read this romantic suspense. You won't want to miss your last trip to Jessup, Texas. I loved the Harmon cousins and I'm sad to see the series end. I loved the epilogue at the end. You know I was shedding some tears. The whole series was excellent and this one is the perfect ending. I was given a copy, but all opinions are my very own.
I received this book as an ARC with no expectations of a positive review. Welcome back to Harmon Ranch. This is the forth and final book in this series. Tucker comes to Harmon ranch after he is placed on extended medical leave from the Dallas Police Department. He is riding a horse when he hears gun shots and a scream, He finds a woman, Ally, with a gun shot wound in her shoulder. She tells him that her mother disappeared on the ranch 20 years ago. She was a young child who was found in the barn hiding in a stall. Join Ally and Tucker as they follow the leads from twenty years ago. Where is her mother? What happened to her? Who is covering up the truth? This is a story that will keep you guessing until the end. It is a must read story that will have you question everything you ever knew.
What a wrap for the Harmon Brothers. This was book 4 and told Tucker Harmon and Ally Fulton's story. Ally had came to Jessup to find out why her mom had disappeared all those years prior because she would have never left Ally. Ally sneaks on to the Harmon Ranch to search it for the last place she knows her mom was at before she disappeared. While searching Ally is attacked and Tucker is there luckily to save the day. Tucker agrees to help Ally track down what happened to her mom. Ally keeps getting attacked and Tucker vows to keep her safe from a killer. Tucker and Ally work together along with the other 3 Harmon Brothers to find her mom's killer and to solve the decades old crime. This book was full of all kinds of suspense and suspicions. Highly recommend! So bittersweet to see the end of the Harmon brothers series. Great job Virginia!
Oh. My. Goodness! This final book about the Harmon cousins just might be the best of the four. There were so many twists, turns, and surprises; I wondered if they would figure out everything. I could not put this book down.
Ally Fulton is determined to find out what happened to her mother. She disappeared without a trace twenty years ago from the Harmon Ranch. Ally could not believe her mother would have left her behind. Officer Tucker Harmon wants to help Ally when he realizes someone is trying to stop her at any cost. Can he help her find answers and keep her safe?
If you like suspense that keeps you guessing, this is a MUST-READ!! I received an advance digital copy and all opinions expressed are my own.
As the story begins, Ally is looking for evidence that her mother is buried on the Harmon Ranch. Then she is shot. Along comes Tucker Harmon to the rescue. He is on leave from the Dallas PD SWAT team after getting shot and shooting a suspect. Ally was a child when her mother disappeared and all she wants is answers. The closer she gets to answers the more her life is in danger. Tucker and the Harmon cousins want to help Ally close the case as it seems to involve their deceased grandfather.
This is a fast paced mystery with several twists and turns. I enjoyed reading it. A good ending to this series about the Harmon cousins.
I was given this book by Love Inspired Suspense via NetGalley for an honest review. I was not compensated in anyway.
A Love inspired suspense book that delivers on the action, suspense with a slow walk up to slight romance. It kept me invested in the story and the characters. I have not read the previous books and I was able to follow with no issues. I like that Ally struggled with her faith, basically walked away consciously, but not subconsciously. After all, she lost her mother, no one will help as the Harmons are the "it" people in town. Tucker is back in Harmon after a SWAT issue in Dallas. I love his integrity. Texas Ranch Cold Case shows the grey, white and black and provided me with suspense, joy and family. Many thanks to #NetGalley #LoveInspiredSuspense #VirginaVaughn for a wonderful read. I freely share my thoughts and opinions.
While searching for answers to her mother's death, Ally Fulton finds herself in a killer's crosshairs. Tucker Harmon offers his protection, as he seeks to help her find answers and clear his family's name.
A fast paced read, with a lot going on, great character development and interaction. Definitely a hard to put down, twisting plot, with plenty of action, and big reveals along the way. I liked the themes of redemption.
A quick read with likable characters, and a mystery riddled plot, with plenty to unravel. Action-packed with lots of suspense. A great standalone, but also a great conclusion to the series that brings all the siblings together.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Texas Ranch cold Case By Virginia Vaughan (Cowboy protections book four)
This is a story about a 20-year-old cold case. I was hooked from the first page full of suspense and action.
Ally Fulton needs to find out what happened to her mother. But someone doesn’t want the truth to come out. When Ally runs into trouble, Tucker Harmon just so happens to be there to help her out.
This is one I really could not put down. I loved the budding romance between Ally and Tucker it was sweet and slow moving. But the case they worked on was fast and full of action. This was a quick read for me as I just couldn’t put it down!
Thank you Virginia Vaughan for the ARC in return for my honest opinion.
The exciting conclusion to Virginia Vaughan's Cowboy Protectors series did not disappoint! Filled with twists and turns that keep us guessing and really easy to like and connect with characters. I liked Ally from the start and really liked how Tucker was quick to jump in and help her find out what happened to her mother all those years ago. They fell in love super fast without a lot of relationship development, but the storyline carried the momentum well. I felt the ending was abrupt and would have liked to have seen that fleshed out a bit more, but overall a very solid read and a great conclusion to the series. I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone who enjoys a faith based romance filled with top notch suspense.
Texas Ranch Cold Case by Virginia Vaughn is the fourth book in her Cowboy Protector series. Each storyline stands alone, with four cousins and their ranch connecting the stories. I enjoy getting to know Tucker and Ally. In this book, the main characters investigate a cold case from twenty years ago where Ally, the main character’s mom, has tragically died. In addition, Ally was there, but she has lost her memory.
I love delving into a mystery that has yet to be solved. In addition, the author seems to have a theme of trauma in her stories and she did a good job staying true to her main characters when suffering from a traumatic event.
I received this book through Net Galley and was not required to give a positive review.
