I haven't read the Inside Out stories. But damn it. Now I will.

This book is Rebecca's journal into a BDSM relationship. I've seen this book compared to "50 shades"..I hated that book so we aren't going there. This female does have some sense where the one in 50 shits didn't.

What this book did for me is make me want the rest of the series. Frigging cliffhangers. I want to know what happened to Rebecca!!!

Don't judge me on my reading tastes. I have a bit of a closet pervert thing going.

ABOUT IF I WERE YOU
How It All Started…

One day I was a high school teacher on summer break, leading a relatively uneventful but happy life. Or so I told myself. Later, I’d question that, as I would question pretty much everything I knew about me, my relationships, and my desires. It all began when my neighbor thrust a key to a storage unit at me. She’d bought it to make extra money after watching some storage auction show. Now she was on her way to the airport to elope with a man she barely knew, and she needed me to clear out the unit before the lease expired.

Soon, I was standing inside a small room that held the intimate details of another woman’s life, feeling uncomfortable, as if I was invading her privacy. Why had she let these items so neatly packed, possessions that she clearly cared about deeply, be lost at an auction? Driven to find out by some unnamed force, I began to dig, to discover this woman’s life, and yes, read her journals—dark, erotic journals that I had no business reading. Once I started, I couldn’t stop. I read on obsessively, living out fantasies through her words that I’d never dare experience on my own, compelled by the three men in her life, none of whom had names. I read onward until the last terrifying dark entry left me certain that something had happened to this woman. I had to find her and be sure she was okay.

Before long, I was taking her job for the summer at the art gallery, living her life, and she was nowhere to be found. I was becoming someone I didn’t know. I was becoming her.

The dark, passion it becomes…

Now, I am working at a prestigious gallery, where I have always dreamed of being, and I’ve been delivered to the doorstep of several men, all of which I envision as one I’ve read about in the journal. But there is one man that will call to me, that will awaken me in ways I never believed possible. That man is the ruggedly sexy artist, Chris Merit, who wants to paint me. He is rich and famous, and dark in ways I shouldn’t find intriguing, but I do. I so do. I don’t understand why his dark side appeals to me, but the attraction between us is rich with velvety promises of satisfaction. Chris is dark, and so are his desires, but I cannot turn away. He is damaged beneath his confident good looks and need for control, and in some way, I feel he needs me. I need him.

All I know for certain is that he knows me like I don’t even know me, and he says I know him. Still, I keep asking myself — do I know him? Did he know her, the journal writer, and where is she? And why doesn’t it seem to matter anymore? There is just him and me, and the burn for more.

Initial reaction: Great narrative on the part of Rebecca, but Mark's felt odd in comparison.

Full review:

For the most part, the compilation of "Rebecca's Lost Journals" pleasantly surprised me. This takes the short stories/novellas that were written between measures in the "Inside Out" trilogy and puts them into one volume. I would definitely recommend reading Rebecca's journals (the first four stories in this narrative) after the first book, while Mark's narrative should be read after the second book/before the third.

That said, I clearly think that the stronger narratives in this collection were on the behalf of Rebecca; thankfully her stories take up the majority of this picture. I remembered reading the Inside Out trilogy wanting to know more about her and trying to understand why Sara was so fascinated by her journals. I got my answer with reading her accounts for myself. There's an intimacy to Rebecca's perspective that made it very easy to know what she was thinking and feeling as she went from working a waitress job to her dream job as an art seller, and under the wing of her push/pull lover, Mark Compton.

Rebecca actually managed to make me chuckle a few times as I read through her entries (Double Stuffed Oreos, FTW!) and I'll admit that when she described her journey through becoming a submissive, I followed her to see the impressions it made upon her, and ultimately how she ended up having a falling out with the lifestyle because it changed her so much, to the point where she felt she became unrecognizable, even to herself. I appreciated reading it, even if in some points the situations themselves were a bit on the awkward/personal comfort zone transcending side.

I almost gave this a full 4 stars for how well it was executed and engaged me, but then the very last story dropped the ball. Mark's narrative was not needed in this - it was a waste of time. While it's true that Mark's character never fully clicked with me for various reasons (though I do admit it was more interesting following him when I didn't have his narrative perspective), I felt this was not a good representation of the character. What was the point? To show Mark engaging in another relationship with another woman who challenged him? To show his guilt over Rebecca, his need to possess in a dom/sub relationship? It just felt like the portrayal of the character in itself was inauthentic and awkward. His character voice grated on me and I just didn't care for it. It threw me out of the pull the previous stories had, and ended up concluding the narrative on a "meh" note for me.

I'd recommend this certainly for the strength of Rebecca's narratives alone, especially for those who've read the "Inside Out" trilogy, but honestly - the latter story on Mark is one you could skip and not miss much.

Overall score: 3.5/5 stars

Note: I received this as an ARC from NetGalley, from the publisher Gallery Books.

I didn't really care for it for two reasons, one because her thoughts were all over the place. Two because where it was suppose to help you understand her better or what happen to her and why. Sadly i don't think it did helped but instead just confused me more. Regardless of my disquiet for this book, i still loved the rest of the series.

ARC received on behalf of Gallery, Threshold, Pocket Books from NetGalley .

In this collection, you get the full release of the journal entries in one continuous installment, along with the treat of The Master Undone, Mark’s story.

Having read the trilogy and these journals individually; I really feel that reading them as one solid read gave me a bit more a feel for Rebecca. I had read the journals as the story unfolded, in the order assigned. It felt a little broken up, with the story focus more so on Chris and Sara, overlooking the important role that Rebecca played. Since I had already read them as separate installments, my review for the collection is pretty much remain the same as originally posted. Knowing how this story ends, I didn’t want to reveal where this story overall takes the reader.

Journal 1; The Seduction.
This short novella is the start of Rebecca's journey. The chance encounter that resulted in a job at the gallery and the introduction of four men. But still no clear answer as to who "Master" is. The similarities between the feelings Rebecca expresses and Sara's feelings are chilling. It's like these men all see Rebecca when they see Sara. A great addition to the series and insight into the mystery that is Rebecca. Although I doubt any great reveal will happen and let it slip just who Master is, but I can't resist hoping.

I loved that we were kept guessing as to which man was the one wielding the whip. Although we all had our first guesses, it was never that black and white.

Journal 2; The Contract
Rebecca's debate with herself over whether to sign the contract or not... Well let's just say we are nowhere closer to discovering who Master is, yet we get a few clues. It seems that Rebecca draws every man to her and with all of these men having a connection, I can't help but feel that somehow she has become a pawn in a much bigger game.

I know I should just skip and go to book 2, hoping for answers but I can't seem to stop reading these journal entries. It makes me wonder what I would do if I happen across Rebecca's inner most thoughts and had the opportunity to discover her fate.

Journal 3; His Submissive
Another lost journal down and still no closer to any answers. Rebecca has agreed to give herself to her Master, but before he will accept her submission she must see what he is offering.

There are still so many things that point to so many of the men introduced in this series and yet so many that point someplace else. I just can't seem to wrap my head around her Master being a bad guy in this - so far he seems to be ensuring that she is accepting of all he has to offer, without accepting her answers before he is sure she is ready.

I see a little of Mark and Chris in Master and I am torn between wanting it to be one of them and neither of them at the same time. It’s amazing how throughout all the journal entries and reading along with the trilogy, just how concealed the author kept this secret. Although by this point I was pretty certain who was who, I was constantly waiting for a twist to shift my thoughts.

Journal 4; My Master
GAH! Still not one step closer to knowing anything! Although we get a few hints that might just throw us off his trail.

Rebecca has fallen for her Master, but he still can only deliver the D/s boundaries of a relationship. This makes her decisions painful and yet simple. She wants him - but she wants all of him. But now we are at the end of the Lost Journals and are heading back to that storage locker and Sara.

I just want to skip to the last chapter so badly at this point. LRJ sure has kept everything tightly under wraps, not giving anything away.

Novella; The Master Undone
Holy hotness! Finally we get a bit of the Master. But not in the role of Master, but as a man that is craving a woman more than he is craving control. Everyone now knows the truth about Rebecca and now he is going to New York to spend time with his mother who has been diagnosed with Cancer. But while he is riddled with guilt he meets Crystal, newly employed by Riptide and just as alpha as he is.

“Master” and Crystal are all tension and power struggle. Although part of me was craving that Sara would be the woman to undo the Master, I really hope that we see more of his and Crystal in the last book of this series.

For anyone reading this series, don't leave out the Lost Journal novellas and certainly not The Master Undone. It was really the perfect way to bring about that shift into the story.

I have spent the last day and a half, considering that its now almost noon in my time zone reading all of Rebecca’s journals.

And I will start by telling you that while I don’t like to add spoilers to my reviews I don’t know if I can write this without giving some things away. But with all that being said I can’t say that I’m not more confused that I was to begin with. I guess for me it’s because I spent all my time in the journals hoping to figure out who Rebecca’s Master truly is. I do have a really good guess as to who it is, I don’t have anything more than that. I’m to the point now that I am speculating anything I can about this story, like maybe Rebecca has a split personality, or just an alter ego. Hell maybe she’s dead, I’m sure that’s what everyone is expecting. But I just don’t have anything definitive yet. But I have faith that it will all be revealed in the next few days as I wrap up the series. I was so amazed with the parallel between Rebecca & Sara’s lives. Both of them losing their mothers, having no one to lean on. To the way they both changed their lives around to work at the art gallery. Rebecca working two jobs so she could work there. And Sara deciding that she could do it if she only did it during the summer. Then the fact that they had a plan but Mr. Compton made them offers to good to refuse for them to stay around. And he, himself was a strange enough character in this story. Although I have my theories on him. I have a lot of theories. Now while you can read this series and never read the lost journals and I know you can skip them and move on without knowing exactly how it all transpired. I personally can’t read like that, I need to know every piece of the puzzle. My suggestion is that you read them all in the order they were intended. I think it only enriches the characters and thus the story that goes along with them.

Rebecca's Lost Journals

I finally got to see Rebecca for who she was. Someone on an emotionally rollercoaster, someone who wrote in her journals so she could go back and read them when she needed to be grounded, someone who kept her own secrets. Someone who was madly in love and would do any and everything to please him even denying herself what she really wanted until it couldn't be ignored anymore. I saw a tortured girl fighting to find herself and become what she always wanted to be while constantly feeling alone. I do believe Rebecca and her Master were good for each other but they never stood a chance at having something great BC honestly they were both scared. This was a very good insight into Rebecca as a normal girl and a submissive, I felt like I was right there with her but it also gave us some insight into Mark. I thought Rebecca would sound so much like Sara but that wasn't the case at all. I could see all the differences in them, I also could see the similarities. LRJ not only managed to write yet another amazing book but she shows us Rebecca and Sara's similarities in a way where we didn't question who we were reading about, we knew it was Rebecca and we could compare the two without getting confused. I loved this book and I'm secretly hoping that Rebecca is still alive bc that lady deserves a happy ever after.

" I'd do anything to know and understand who I truly am. And I think that tonight, that was exactly what I was looking for: me. I just didn't realize it until I met him. "
" Not many men can make me breathless, but there aren't many men who can claim the very air that exists around them, as he does. "
" Those words were laced with possessiveness, and the way he'd looked at me ... I felt more naked than I have felt with my legs spread wide for any other man. "
" His feet were bare, as if he was ready to be naked in a flash. I wanted him to be naked in that moment. I think I always want him to be naked. "
" Looking back now, this command should have bothered me. Shouldn't it have? Being ordered to my knees to serve him? But it didn't. In fact, it was enticing. It made me feel in control. I'd take his pleasure. I'd own him while he was trying to own me. "
" He'd told me he was my escape, my place where I could let the rest of the world fade away. And it did. "
" I will never leave you with anything but pleasure. "
" In this agreement you will make me your world, but I, too, will make you my world. "
" Because I want every drop of pleasure I can get from you. I want to taste it. I want to touch it. "
" I want to feel it when your body tightens around my co*k and quakes because I fu*ked you so well. "
" I did a whole lot more than shower with him. That man had me pressed against the tile wall and his co*k buried deep inside me before the water was even hot. "

------------------------

The Master Undone

This book will give you a completely different look at Mark. The Master Undone is exactly that, undone with no control. We get to see how Mark is reacting to and grieving the loss of Rebecca but most of all how he felt towards her as his sub and why he did some of things he did with her. We see his and Chris's relationship begin to mend which I love because even through all the tension they showed against each other in all the other books you could always tell that at one point of time you couldn't separate them if you tried. We learn why he treated Sara the way he did and get the intro into his family life and problems. What I loved most about this book is that I got to see his vulnerable, out of control, he's on an emotional rollercoaster side. We usually see him well put together, in complete control but put him in a family emergency and a woman who is just in control as him and we see the softer side of him. I'm so extremely happy LRJ allowed us to see this side of Mark the Master. I felt his loss of Rebecca and his feelings for Crystal through her writing. I don't know how she does it but every time I slip into an alternative world that only includes the Inside Out Series, LRJ you did it again!

" She's a refreshing glass of water when I'm drowning in hell. "
" I've let this woman I barely know see emotions I try never to feel, let alone allow anyone to experience with me. "
" I trust this woman more than I trust myself right now. And that scares me in a way I haven't been scared in a very long time. "
" Maybe its simply that she's different from everything familiar, and everything familiar feels wrong right now."
" She's real to me in a way no one else has felt in too long . "
" There's no hiding how emotional I feel, and I don't even try. This woman is seeing parts of me I show no one. Parts I'm not sure I believed existed anymore, and im beyond stopping her. "
" Now, though ... I am lost and she has found me. "
" The burn to kiss her is intense. I don't kiss women. I fu*k them. I please them. I like to please them. To drive them to the edge and make then want and want, until release is sweet bliss. But I don't kiss them. "
" Her hands are all over me, her touch feeding the hunger in me. "
" I want her like I've never wanted anyone. She answers an invisible something inside me, and I don't know why or how. "
" I need to control this woman before she does what no other woman has, and truly controls me. "
" She's just a fu*k. But da*n it, now she's looking at me, and every time I drive into her, I see her pleasure, and I see more. I see this woman who is more than just a fu*k, and its making me insane. And hot. And then even hotter. I can't thrust hard enough or get deep enough. "
" I have never had a women demand anything from me. They beg. They plead. They call out " Master, " as I command they do. But right now I would kill to have her say my real name. To plead for more from me. The real me I show no one. "

That's what I read all this for?

I'm going back to the main storyline. The author is an amazing writer. That's what's kept me involved in the story. Such a great idea that could've really delivered a bang. Doesn't matter. I def have this author down as a favorite now, but Rebecca was just irritating and not even close to the bold and sexually adventurous heroine I'd imagined her to be.

Still, bravo for the author taking on this plotline and the use of the book in book style of this series by providing her journals.

This book was torture but bliss all at once. I loved Rebecca and hated seeing her downfall. She was so much different from Ella and Sara which was refreshing. I loved seeing her fear of the unknown as any woman who's entering that world should feel. She was so much more real and sincere. I could relate to her much better than Ella and Sara. I'm disappointed though, so disappointed because we already know what her fate is, it's not fair that she doesn't get her own happy ending.

Assuming the author doesn't pull a rabbit out of her hat and throw a twist in there to where she didn't die or was left for dead and escaped, I feel like all of this was for nothing. WHY would you make this great character who we've wondered and rooted for Sara to find, only just to kill her off? To write this story about how she wanted Mark so badly to feel the way she felt for him, to leave him and open up his eyes to what was right in front of him, to go running back to him when he promised things would be different because he missed her, wanted her, sucked up his pride to beg her to come back...going through all of that just to be murdered by some psycho that he brought into her life and their relationship she he knew she didn't like it. I actually don't even know if I can go through with reading his own short stories. I'm angry that he gets a happy ending after he ruined her life and gave her hope that he would be different. I'm upset that she's dead and he gets a second chance at love...and it's not with her. She was the one who opened up his eyes that he had more to offer than the BDSM life, she is the reason that Crystal could see there's more to him than meets the eye or she would have written him off as a douchebag and not seen the man who was in so much pain inside, she is the reason that Mark paid closer attention to Crystal because of what had happened to her or he'd have written her off as unimportant and looked past her like he did others of her kind.

I looked at this very objectively and can confidently say regardless of how much I love Rebecca, I don't like Crystal, not just because she's Mark's future, but as a person, I don't like her and I don't see what Mark sees in her that makes her different than Rebecca and Sara. She slept with him after knowing him all of a day. Where was the excitement for him in that? She teased him, he chased her, caught her, and she gave it it up to him all in a day. A girl has a right to have sex with someone she's attracted to and not be called a slut, same as guys fine, but her boss's son, technically her own boss as well, the same day you met him??? How does that intrigue him more than Rebecca and Sara and place Crystal at a higher standard in her own box? If it wasn't gonna be Rebecca, how could it be someone like Crystal? She was quick to take off her clothes is my point. She also claimed to need control but then showed up at his hotel in the middle of the night using work as an excuse to see him. She's not funny, there's no mystery to her, she's not interesting or intriguing, she seems to try too hard to be different, she just doesn't appeal to me especially with how she has no shame in sleeping with her boss/boss's son, hours after meeting him the first time. I can see him being intrigued by her as a challenge and bedazzled by her if she turned him down multiple times, no hesitation, completely unaffected by him, and making him work for her for weeks or months on end but she already gave him what he wanted, in a day. Hence, my confusion on why she's so special and the one who tames him. She also tried to tell him how to take care of his own mother, it's one thing to make a polite suggestion he let his mom work because she understands the mother and cares for her, it's a whole different thing if she tries to take over and tell him what's best for his mom, it's not her place and she overstepped her boundaries considering she doesn't know him. There's just so many thing that bug me about her.

I don't want to read their story but I feel like I have to, to get the full effect of this series. I just wish she had given Rebecca a better, more deserving ending, even if it wasn't with Mark. I was anticipating meeting her so bad and getting to know her. I still can't get over it. Hoping Mark and Crystal's books go by fast, I'm dreading reading them.

If you don’t already know, Rebecca’s Lost Journals are novellas to the Inside Out series. The premise is that Sara, who is the heroine from the Inside Out series, is in search for Rebecca by using these journals as a guide. She has a set of journals in her possession and these novellas are for your eyes only. Sara will never get to read these entries.

I loved reading these novellas. I had the opportunity to follow along as Ms. Jones had released these journals the first time and I thoroughly enjoyed each and every one of them. It's even better now that they are all in one compilation. I loved trying to find out what Rebecca was up to and reading her day to day adventures were pretty addicting…not to mention her relationship with her man aka "master". As a bonus, the last novella is actually in HIS POV. Because he is loved by Jone’s fans, this short story was an “eagerly anticipated” read.

Take note that these journals are closely related to the main story. Some say it can be read as standalone and I suppose you can but I strongly encouraged reading in order. I promise it’ll be worth your time. Ms. Jones' Inside Out Series is one of my all time favorite reads.

The reading order as as follows.

Behind Closed Doors (Inside Out, #0.5)
If I Were You (Inside Out, #1)
Rebecca's Lost Journals, Volume 1: The Seduction (Inside Out, #1.1)

I was given a complimentary copy by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I started the Inside Out series on a lark – laid up sick with lots of reading time on my hands. The No In-between series starting with I Were You l has an intriguing premise (diaries found in a auctioned storage unit) and is set in the art world in San Francisco. It offered everything I look for in a great story – complex love story, mystery and well written eroticism. By the time I finished it, and moved onto Being Me, Revealing Us had been released and I completely immersed in the series. At the time Rebecca’s Lost Journals were sold as separate reads and it almost felt as though it wasn’t necessary to read them. I couldn’t have been more wrong. The journals are really the basis for the story and learning about the isolated life Rebecca was leading. Being journals, they are written in a casual first person POV and are done so that it is impossible to NOT get a feel for Rebecca and her life. She is young and vulnerable and throughout the 4 journals, it’s easy to see how she came to be swayed into the lifestyle her master offered. I loved this series and am anxiously awaiting the next installment of No In Between. I have hope that the story will go a certain way, but regardless LRJ writes one amazing story with all the necessary elements to keep us readers entertained. I highly recommend the journals to anyone whose read the series, and I highlighy recommend the series to anyone reading the genre’s including mystery, romance, and/or eroticism.

Rebecca’s Lost Journals #1-4 (2 stars)
I changed my mind...I don't want to read Rebecca's Journals. Oh, too late I just did. They weren't at all what I thought they would be after reading If I Were You and Being Me. I like her even less than I like Sara, but Sara is growing on me.

The Master Undone (4.5 stars)
Now this one, I loved. I can't wait to read more of Mark's HEA. I look forward to seeing her twist him into knots.

Rebecca’s Lost Journal’s are diary entries from the mysterious Rebecca who we now know was murdered shortly after leaving Mark in the Inside Out series. These were meant to be read in conjunction with the series, but really they kind of stand on their own. It’s a weird mind set to get into because as diary entries, these read a lot differently than a regular book would. Personally I find first person POV harder to read for whatever reason. Something about it pulls me from the story every time and it just takes me longer to finish a book wrote that way. However, I did enjoy this look into Rebecca’s mind and how she ended up where she was when she met her demise.

It’s easy to see early on that Rebecca’s feelings for Mark were growing quickly. Even when presented with a contract to be a submissive and to only refer to him as “Master” Rebecca wanted to please him. She was really indecisive and came across as totally naive for most of the book. Mark took advantage of her lack of knowledge and pushed her boundaries constantly. He’s a character you kinda love to hate in a way. He’s sexy but his controlling and domineering personality make him a man who refuses to bend. His need for control rides him and even when presented with losing Rebecca he couldn’t seem to tell her he cared about her on a level that surpassed D/s.

Of course the sex scenes are very well done, even wrote as diary entries. Rebecca’s slips into story telling mode quite often which helps the transition in the writing style. The scenes were, as expected, very hot as she delves into the true nature of being a submissive and what it entails. The confusion and pull she feels are palpable.

The Master Undone, told from Mark’s POV left me confused in a way. He obviously cared about Rebecca immensely and yet shortly after he learns of her death he’s already becoming obsessed with a new woman, one that will be unwilling to bend to his need for control as easily. It was like a slap in the face for him to rebound as quickly as he did. I was slightly affronted on Rebecca’s behalf.

These are very short novellas when added all together only have roughly 200 pages combined. Lovers of this world Jones has created are sure to enjoy these as they are spicy reads through and through. It was nice to be able to tie everything together surrounding Rebecca and see things from her perspective. Seeing Mark through Rebecca’s eyes was something that I think Jones did on purpose to pique more interest as a full length book from his POV draws closer to release.

I give Rebecca’s Lost Journals by Lisa Renee Jones 4 stars!

*The first three paragraphs of this review provide a review of Rebecca’s Lost Journals #1-4
(The Seduction, The Contract, His Submissive, My Master
Due to the cohesive nature of these individual works, they are reviewed together.
The Master Undone
Is reviewed separately.

Rebecca comes off as the perfect unsure, shy, self deprecating, wounded, yet extremely attractive young naive that seems ripe for the picking for someone with Mark's proclivities.
Because of the allusion to the intensity of Mark and Rebecca's relationship, one is led to expect a far more adventurous walk into BDSM than what is offered.
This is not to say however, that what is offered is not emotionally charged, enthralling, or well presented. It is all of these things...it is also relatively safe.

The true draw in this read lies not so much in the erotic fantasy and BDSM play, but in the raw intensity of the romantic love Mark and Rebecca share.
Readers will find themselves swept up in Mark's fierce protectiveness of his lady love; just as much as they will bask in the glory of said protection, as seen from Rebecca's POV.

Rebecca turns out to be quite the wild card in this scenario; when all is said and done. As her confidence grows, she becomes more aware of her power to choose the direction of her life. It is this new found sense of self that ultimately leads to her surprising decision at the conclusion of My Master, and heralds the beginning of Sara's adventures in If I Were You.

The Master Undone takes both the reader and Mark into new and uncharted waters. This novella is told from Mark's POV and takes place after Rebecca. As such, it is being reviewed separately.
Mark seems very detached and broken. He is a drowning man, grasping for any life preserver.
What he finds is Chrystal, a woman who takes control instead of giving it and is a most skilled teacher to his apt pupil. Mark's true loss of control and fear of said loss, take a bit of getting used to after reading Rebecca's story.

The collection of stories found in Rebecca's Lost Journals lights both a fire of passion in the readers' souls, and stokes embers of love in their hearts.

*This literary work is recommended to readers 18+ due to sexual situations*

It takes a skilled author to pull together the threads of two fully developed storylines without either one suffering, but Lisa Renee Jones can definitely claim she is a master.

While this collection of four novellas (“The Seduction,” “The Contract,” “The Submissive” and “My Master”) appears to be a standalone, they are actually supposed to be read after the first book in the Inside Out series. For the serious reader, it is essential to pay attention to the reader order of this series or you will get hit with massive spoiler overload. This comes from someone who bought this collection separately and got too distracted to follow the proper order. As urgent as it may seem to start “Being Me,” don’t do it. There are specific reasons why the author wants you to read all four of the installments of “Rebecca’s Lost Journals” before moving going any deeper with Chris and Sara. The collection also contains a bonus novella, “The Master Undone,” that should be read later in the series.

The four novellas provide a rich back story that enhances the overall impact of the storyline. When I started the series with “If I Were You,” I was intrigued by the snippets of journal entries woven into the story. Rather than leaving the reader wondering about Rebecca, this segment of the story delves deeply into her relationship with the Master.

Having the stories in one collection gives the reader seamless access to the story. It’s not often that a series is able to maintain the momentum started in the debut novel, but the Inside Out series defies the odds.

Packed with emotion, these journal entries provide a window into the world of BDSM. The power exchange dynamic is thoroughly explored amid a backdrop of sizzling hot attraction.

Lisa Renee Jones beings her characters to life while continuing to build the intensity. This is a series that is created for endurance, so don’t stop reading until all the answers are revealed. It will be well worth your time.

Rebecca’s Lost Journals is part of the – Inside Out series. No worries, you can easily read as a stand alone. Rebecca tells of Mark, along with her worries regarding the BDSM lifestyle and her role as a submissive. We ride along with Rebecca as she reaches her decision and all that transpires.

Jones undoubtedly pulls the reader into her narrative and character. As you peruse Rebecca’s journals you sense her pain, ongoing struggles and raw feelings. Her hesitation with diving into BDSM was a welcome surprise, added a plausible cast on the entire novella. Vacillation between wanting to enter the unknown arena of BDSM was a bit annoying, however, understandable (it just kept on). Her nightmares, the unknown issues with her deceased mother all make for a curious and suspenseful read. Jones can keep a reader on their toes with her cliffhangers leading the reader to desperately grasp as to what in fact happened to Rebecca.

Exploring more of what was happening in her interaction with Mark was insightful, allowed Mark to take more of a role since he’s been an aloof enigma prior.

This was a welcomed edition, especially if you have read the entire series first, many layers of characters were revealed and greatly appreciated.

Se subkou by životní štěstí nenašel? (jdu shánět další novely o Markovi)

I know... you can read the novels of the Inside Out Series by themselves. This compilation of all of Rebecca's Journals is the perfect companion for those of us who absolutely LOVE this series and want all the details we can get to solve the mystery. Without these glimpses into what really happened from Rebecca's POV, we would not have those delicious little tid bits of information that make this series so great. Talk about added value! I am gushing, yes, I LOVE this series!

I'm glad to finally have some insight on the whole Rebecca and Mark situation. Really enjoyed the journals, though the way Ella spoke about them at the beginning of the series, I thought they would be a lot more provocative. Where is journal #5??? You can't just keep me hanging like that!!!

Rebecca's documentation of her addiction to her Master. Sometimes this is heartbreaking but you get the insight of what happened and why Sara was so worried about her.

Vol. 1: THE SEDUCTION 5⭐️
I almost wish Ms. Jones would’ve written Rebecca’s story first. It would’ve been a great lead into IF I WERE YOU. In this novella we see Rebecca start at the gallery and we see her struggle with what the men in her life are asking of her.

Vol. 2 : THE CONTRACT 5⭐️
Rebecca finds herself making a name for herself at the gallery. She struggles in her personal life with whether or not to sign the contract. Her eyes are opened to what she could be missing. I hate to say this but I find her and her master far more interesting than Chris and Sara.

Vol. 3: HIS SUBMISSIVE 5⭐️

Rebecca has trouble accepting the terms of the contract. Wars with herself over her perceived loss of innocence. These journals hooked me. Would've loved to see Rebecca get a full length book.

Vol. 4: MY MASTER 5⭐️

Good. For. Rebecca. She knows what she wants and won’t stand for less. I hate that this is the end of her story! These journals have renewed my interest in certain characters and am looking forward to finishing the rest if the INSIDE OUT series.

THE MASTER UNDONE 5⭐️

Now that the Rebecca “situation” has been resolved, it’s Mark’s turn to have his story told. This was a great lead in for his story. Great to see a bit of his softer side than we’ve seen in the previous books in the series. Can’t wait to read his full length book.

This is one of my fav books in this series so far in that, in the main series, we get to read snippets of Rebecca's journals as Sara reads through the entries... but in this particular collection, the reader is allowed 'fuller' entries, longer pieces, which well portray how Rebecca's life changed forever.

The last part, though, from Mark's POV, is a bit mehh to me. Too predictable in a way. Hopefully we get to read more about him and his thoughts, though. (I still have a few in the series to be read heh.)

It's so sad that Rebecca didn't get her HEA. I really wanted to hope that somehow she was locked up somewhere and tortured rather than killed. I feel for Mark and the pain he's going through. This world is so messed up. I like the inside out series but this set of novella's kinda left me feeling raw and sad instead of hopeful like I like to be after reading a book. I'm still continuing though.

I was not expecting to hear what happened to Rebecca. Now I have to go back to reading this series to see how everything happened. Woman always seem to fall for men so deeply, however men can never seem to return to feelings.

Overall I did enjoyed the ending of the book.
